You went to a dealer and they put Android on your TP2?!?! Wow, that must be a first!! Personally, I would recommend that you install a custom WinMo ROM, like the Energy ROM. When you'll have a functional TP2, you might want to try to use Froyo or Gingerbread with XDAndroid to see if it works great for you.
it is not the main os need to boot in windows mobile first then i need to start in something called haret. it wil boot a linux like os called android

As far as I know, and I may be wrong so others will correct if so, A TP2 is not supposed to work out of the box with Android. The whole XDAndroid project is running to that Android can be tweaked to run efficiently on other "non-Android" cellphones. As for haret, it's the program that start the Linux booting sequence so that XDAndroid can boot on the phone.
As I told you, if you want a working TP2 as fast as possible, you should think about installing a custom WinMo ROM. Then, you could look to find what you're looking for, a way to install Android natively on your TP2.
EDIT: I misread you last post, so I'm not sure you want to run Android as your main OS, but still, you should look to install a custom WinMo ROM of your TP2. I personally use Energy Rom with MaxSense and I really like it. I even overclocked my phone to 748 mhz with WiMoSpeed and it works great.

U can use Gen.Y Dualboot for autobooting to ur preferred OS. I did Triboot w Rhobuntu on it too, fun.
There's another one but can't rem the name at the moment.

Wow. Never go to that phone dealer again. Android on the TP2 is NOT stable yet. He stuck you with something that was destined to break.
That said, Android is MUCH more stable lately, so if you want to reinstall Android yourself visit the Rhodium Android Development forum, or visit http://xdandroid.com.
And MMS finally works.
I have been running Froyo FRX06 on my TP2 (RHOD500) for almost two weeks now (Verizon global phone, using CDMA only with SIM card removed). The build itself has actually been very good I think. Only one SoD so far. It has rebooted on me a few times (notably when I was in an area with no service and a couple times when using navigation), but other wise has been great! With moderate usage I can easily go 17 hours between charges (includes using navigation, FB, etc). The only things that don't work are BT, the 3.5 jack (wouldn't use anyways), and MMS (but I believe there is a fix for this now as noted above). I am also overclocking (710400 khz) and so far so good (will probably bump it up some more shortly). I have not even had to switch back to WinMo once since I made the switch.
Basically, I recommend at least trying it out
A phone dealer charging for something obtainable from this site for free? LOL.
I would only recommended android on SD at the moment so you can at least use the phone
Check the link in my sig. (android on SD) to get setup.
Get that all set up with a new winmo rom and youd be all good to go, im using android as my primary. and windows only to start android.
only thing not working for my on android is Bluetooth, same for all users with our phone. There should be an update coming soon to fix this though...
btw, post all android related threads in the android section so you can get better help faster.

Hi, I just bought a Xperia Arc and I'm fairly new to the Android system. I was wondering how I could customize it, I've heard rooting the device is the way to go. Could someone please explain in simple words how to do that. Just to let you know I've heard you have to unlock the bootloader first but I don't even know what that is so I'm a rookie. Thanks.
Well first off, there's a bunch of customizing that you can do without rooting. Wallpapers and ringtones are simple things. The biggest customizing comes from changing your launcher. The launcher controls your home screens and your app drawer. The default one is good but it's a little too slow for me. I use Launcher Pro (can get it from the market), but there are loads of other launchers. The beauty of Android is that you can try them all and pick the one that works the best for you. ADW is another fav launcher of these forums. Just do a search in the market for "launcher" and you'll get a bunch. Some are free, some aren't.
As for rooting, you don't need to unlock your bootloader to root. In fact, if you have a branded phone (i.e. Rogers,O2,AT&T, etc) you can't unlock your bootloader....but you can root. Do a search for Gingerbreak on the forum for inductions. The reason why you want to root is to give your self a little more control over the phone and allow for heavier customization. If you have a branded phone rooting allows you to uninstall some of the unwanted software that your provider puts on the phone, also know as bloatware.
If there's certain thing you want to customize try searching this forum. There's a good chance someone has has a post on it....and it'll prevent you from getting yelled at for posting a question that someone already has.
Android is awesome and is a modder's/customizer's dream. If you want a sample of done of the different things you can do go to the themes/apps section and look for the post titled "Post your screen shots" or something like that. It's amazing how the same phone can look and operate so differently.

Thanks a lot, I tried the Launcher pro on my Atrix cuz Motoblur sucked. So since my phone was originally from Rogers and i unlocked it for Fido i shouldn't try to unlock the bootloader? I was thinking someone was gonna tell me to check another thread instead of posting one, but thanks for the tips. I'll keep working on the phone.
hey I AM also a owner of arc

Because it was a branded phone you can't unlock the bootloader. Sony is only allowing unbranded phones to have their bootloaders unlocked. So unless someone find a way to hack the bootloader you'll have to live with regular root...assuming someone find a way to root 2.3.3. Right now only 2.3.2 is rootable.

Looks like yesterday (04/13/2013) the Sony Xperia ZL has been introduced into the list of CyanogenMod's officially supported devices (Wiki and CM ROM download page)!
That's some excellent news!!!
Sony Xperia ZL CM Wiki Page
Sony Xperia ZL (Odin) Latest Nightly Build Download page
I got my ZL last week and I absolutely love it (one C6502 and one C6503. Not sure which one I'll get to keep/sell... Currently there's no 4G LTE coverage where I live in Brazil).
On 04/16/2013 I decided that I'll keep the C6503. So I unlocked its bootloader via Sony's Developer original method and then I just followed the Odin's Wiki page walkthrough for flashing CM 10.1 to my phone. It all worked out perfectly. Hint: To get into CWM recovery you have to press and release the volume up and down at the same time a few times (until the led turns purple) when you turn on the device. It took me a while to get it right. I was used to my SGS where you just have to press power+volume up to get to recovery. A lot easier in my opinion.
A little history: I've been using a Samsung Galaxy S i9000 since Feb 2011 (now running latest CM 10.1 nightly). I love it to death and now I use it as a secondary-backup-work phone (specially when I travel abroad on GSM/HSDPA only networks). If it wasn't for the CyanogenMod community (particularly Pawitp and Stratosk) my phone would've been long dead along with Gingerbread 2.3.3... $am$ung has lost my business with its unfriendly developer support and ugly-ass colored phones and UI, girly looking round phones starting with the Samsung Galaxy S 3 and 4.
Please let me know if there's something new on those pages above, if I notice something new I'll keep you guys posted!
Cheers!
For those interested, here's some of the bugs I've experienced/noticed while using latest official CM 10.1 nightly:
When my phone is locked with the screen black (locked), after I push the power button, the screen lights up, and even though I did not unlock the phone, I'm able to change volume settings by pressing the volume rocker. This should not happen unless there's a video or audio playing in the background.
***Update: his hasn't been "fixed", apparently that's the new behavior and it's going to be that way – period.
When I push the power button to unlock the phone there's a short lag until the display comes 'alive' (others have mentioned this as well).
***Update: Fixed!
When I connect the phone to my stereo Bluetooth speakers by Logitech to listen to online music through 'A Online Radio', the phone goes to sleep as it normally does after a little while. If I try to wake up the phone it will freeze. I have to press the reset button to reboot phone.
***Update: bluetooth connection has been fixed, but now there's another bug that cuts the first 2 seconds off a song when it first starts playing or whatever you skip between tracks.
Wi-Fi is switching itself off a while after the phone sleeps. Regardless of setting for being always on. I've also noticed that the Wi-Fi resets itself randomly then I wake up the phone.
***Update: fixed (apparently)
It is taking significantly longer to fully charge the battery when compared to the stock Sony ROM (original Sony's charger used). And while the phone is being used sometimes it doesn't charge at all. You can see by the graph that it is depleting the battery instead of charging it. I'll try to take a snapshot of it.
***Update: that has been fixed, but if your phone is too warm, it won't charge at all. Make sure you always use the stock charger and short cable that came with your phone.
Notification bar 'sliding brightness' feature is only working after you pass through the half right portion of the notification bar.
***Update: not fixed
Lowest level of brightness is not as dark/dim as Sony's stock ROM.
***Update: not fixed, but I've noticed that on stock firmware the automatic brightness is darker than the lowest manual brightness that we can set, so that's the same behavior apparently.
Sometimes when the I receive a call, it starts to vibrate, the phone freezes and locks up, it still remains vibrating, the screen remains black (locked), and the only way to make it work again is to press the reset button. The alarm also did this once, it behaved just like that one time.
***Update: fixed!
Battery usage seems to be a little bit higher than stock ROM. But it's hard to find the culprit there...
***Update: it has been improved but I still feel that stock (very first stock firmware) had the best battery life.
During regular phone calls the speakerphone does not work.
***Update: fixed!
While I was on a phone call tonight, I pressed the back button to get me all the way back to home screen. Then I pressed the camera button to take a photo. The camera loaded and took the photo. Immediately after that, the phone locked up with a black screen. About 5 seconds after that black screen the phone started vibrating. I had to press the reset button to reboot the phone.
***Update: fixed!
***Official July-05-2013 CM 10.1 nightly all stock.***
Yo! Looking for current CyanogenMod (CM11) development for your Sony Xperia ZL/ZQ (Odin) Changelog??? Click HERE!!!
Here's my quick overview of CM11 (Jan 13th 2014) on my Xperia ZL C6503.
I honestly think PIE Control was much better than this new, hidden virtual controls that has been implemented. This new one present on CM11 just doesn't work as intended, and I find myself pressing menus (from within an app) when I try to back out of it. I really wish someone would/could bring back PIE Controls on CM 11.
There are some other issues with Jan 13th 2014 build when it comes to functionality and some missing options/menus that were present in CM 10.1 for example.
The new camera menus are absolute crap. I can work with that, but please, someone bring back the Store on External SD card option. That's an essential feature.
The icons on default launcher are huge. What's up with that? It's all bloated and washed out... Does it look like THAT bad on a Nexus 5??? This time around I was thinking of keeping the default launcher but it looks like crap so... Any suggestions for a new launcher? I've always had Apex Pro on my previous CM installs.
The default Web Browser (I think it's called Chromium?) is performing so poorly this time around... It basically seem to have lost all of my bookmarks cause it just refuses to pull them out of the cloud like it always did since CM7 up until CM10.2. The zooming feature (double tap) just refuses to work properly. I keep on double tapping the screen and nothing happens. It's really frustrating...
I've downloaded about 11 pdf files off the internet and the system kept tabs on it as it should, but when I tried to pull down the notification bar it was performing very poorly the animation was choppy for both quick settings menu and notifications bar. Clearing the notifications history fixed this. But should this ever occur?
For some reason I'm unable to uninstall system apps with Titanium Backup or any other app.
Thank goodness DSP Manager is working properly this time around. But....
Bluetooth connection sucks. It is really really bad. It constantly cuts and skips the music playback every other 5 - 15 seconds. Is there someone looking into that? In comparison, my almost 4 year old Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 is rockin' CM 11 without this problem.
I think that this is about it. Other than that the system seems to be working properly. I can't comment on anything else since I've got CM11 running on my Xperia ZL less than 5 hours ago.
I would like to take the time to thank FXP, FreeXperia Project and the rest of the community and developers that are constantly improving and enhancing the code and the experience for all of us.

in my understanding this doesnt change much.
FXP was an unofficial CM build and now it's official. The quality remains.
Maybe the pros are that now the project can use official repository and download servers. And of course has more "world attention" since it's official :good:

Yup, couldn't agree more.
My biggest concern when I got the phone last week was the fear of getting it overshadowed by other major releases like the HTC ONE and the Galaxy S 4. I was afraid that the devs just wouldn't be interested in the device. But now that the device has made into the official CM10.1 ROM list, there's absolutely nothing to worry about...!

Did you erase your IMEI or something? If you deleted the "backup" folder in the root of your internal SD card it might have caused this, I don't really know if it was the case for you since I haven't had a chance (time) to flash CM 10.1 on my ZL just yet...

So today I successfully unlocked the bootloader (following Sony Developer's website walkthrough) and then loaded CWM recovery as explained at the ZL's (Odin) Wiki page.
After successfully completing both of these steps I managed to get into CWM recovery and flash CM 10.1 and rebooted my ZL.
At first everything seemed to be working properly. After the initial boot screen and device initialization, it looked like I had just gotten a brand new 5" Google Nexus phone made by Sony straight out of the box. It was absolutely brilliant.
But then, after I successfully placed a call and talked on the phone for like 2 minutes, the phone went black. None of the buttons would work. I had to open the back cover and press the reset button for the phone to work again.
After reboot, I could not place any calls again...
I'm wondering what the problem is...
Anyone?
Edit:
I wiped the phone all over again and flashed CM 10.1 one more time. After reboot and initial setup, the phone worked just fine, no problems making or receiving calls.
One big remark though: The speaker phone (loud speaker) does not work. You press the button and it does absolutely nothing. So if that is a deal breaker for you, you may want to keep your original Sony ROM rockin' for a little longer until the problem is solved.

These two issues are well documented and discussed. Seem to be common on all AOSP roms. For the GSM signal, the best thing to do would be to flash baseband only using flashtool. Or you could play around with enabling/ disabling airplane mode and see if that works for you (for me it does)
The speaker during calls doesnt work and enabling it results in complete loss of audio through both the speaker and the earpiece. To fix it just restart your phone.

Hey, people! I've been lurking around XDA for sometime now and I have finally decided to join the fray!
I'm a complete noob in regards to rooting and modding a phone and this is obviously my first time. I understand the risks of rooting though but refreshing my (almost) year old Acro S (updated to the latest stock JB 4.1.2, locked bootloader) with an (almost) expired warranty would be pretty rad. I can always spend some money and get a new phone but I really wanna try my hands on a rooted phone and save that money for the next year or even two. So hear me out please!
I have no idea how to do this but what I'm looking for is:
- A noob-friendly tutorial on how to root my Acro S
- Suggestions, recommendations and tips after I'm rooted
- Giving the phone any amount of boost to its current lacking speed if possible
- Getting dem latest Sony media apps if there are any available or possible
- Tweaking the current "blinds" lockscreen with a mod if possible
- Improving music experience if possible (I'm a very avid music listener)
- While keeping anything else as stock feeling or looking as possible (my minimalistic self loves Action Launcher!)
I hope I'm not asking too much. Hope you guys can help me here!

What exactly is an ADB driver? What for and how do I use it/install it? Is it really needed?

It's really needed if your phone does not start anymore at some point. But read TUTORIALS about adb, it's too complicated for you right now.
I know how you can get an Android M Developer Preview on the Nexus 7 2013!!!!
Just download the files ( https://android.googlesource.com/device/asus/flo/+/refs/tags/android-m-preview ) and do what you would do to make a regular factory image!! My laptop can't do this stuff so if someone reads this please download it and make a ROM and a factory image.

1. This is the wrong place to post this kind of stuff...
2. It's not even possible to use this because Google hasn't posted the full Android M source so we can only see what has been changed so far.
I don't know where else to post it, because this is the "Development" category and this is basically telling you developing
Also the Android M Developer Preview for Nexus 7 2013 has the same amount of files as the one for the Nexus 6, if not more.
It doesn't matter how many files it has. They haven't released the source code so you can't do anything with it.

I know it doesn't matter how many files, but they do have AOSP out for it. It's worth a shot to try it and see
If the thing I'm asking for can't be done, then can someone do a port? I'd really love to try M. I don't have the money for a Nexus 9 or a Nexus Player, and I just got my TURBO in February so I can't get a new phone for a couple of years

No source means no source.
What if it IS the source?
There might be a source somewhere

Then how did the Nexus 7 2012 get it, but it's a port not built from source
Maybe we could use that to help port it to the Nexus 7 2013
Here's the port for the 2012 Nexus 7.

I've already seen the Android M for the 2012. XD

Good for you getting it from YouTube! I got it from the guys Twitter account!

So you want someone to work hard (very hard) to try and port a broken rom just so you can see m? Yeah we are going to line up to do it for you. Lol. Might be time for you to learn some basic Android development and porting.
Its been time for that. XD
