What are your setings on for overclocking and what are the correct settings for OMAP clock?
I'm running mine at 216

Any setting would be fine, but don't overclock over 240
I clocked it at 216 and it runs much faster it was set at 156. But will it drain my battery clocked at 216? Or does that have anything to do with battery life...
i think its actually faster then 3G.. how funny!

Yes, your battery will drain more than usual because your phone processor is running at a higher speed. I have mine clocked at 228 and the battery life is about 2 days before putting it on charging.
Well after I clocked it at 216 and then posted the next post my phone shut off and after turning back on i had maybe ten % battery left and that was after being on the charger all night.. But my battery life has always been ****ty.. its constantly on the charger at home and in the car..

This is a sign that your battery is dying or not taking in any charge. It will get worse until you get yourself a new battery.
Ok well im gonna try and stretch it until march. My t mobile contract will be up so right now im reading reviews and what not for different phones..
You can safely run your dash at 240 overclock speed, but if you have an old battery you'll see the difference in draining, so I suggest to get a new battery and you can go to 240mhz overclock and still get about 2 days of charge, I did when I had my dash running 3VO 6.5.

For me, with Overclock.. it's EXCELLENT! I can have it in standby but still have background data going (push gmail, twitter apps, etc.) for days at a time and still have some juice left.
Just today with some admittedly light usage (but I did use it) I had battery use time of 12Hrs with over 70% left.
I'm using setvsel @
35 @ 400MHz
50 @ 800MHz
65 @ 1200MHz
CPU Icon is set to refresh every second and it's supposed to cap at Vsel 2 @ 10%. It's as stable as ever.. been running like this for weeks now. I'm taking note of how much I appreciate the excellent battery life I get because my Vibrant has been getting really bad lately.
Running Barebones 1.3 with
19 @ 300Mhz
35 @ 600MHz
52 @ 1000Mhz
Battery Life is excellent - more than 48h without recharging is no problem.
I get 2 days of standby with heavy texting, surfing over wifi, calling and some gaming. DEFY battery performance is one the best amongst all Android phones.

Undervolting your cpu can harm your hardware real badly. I've had my defy stopped working and shut down completely in the past so i won't recommend you OC or UV
EDIT: tho i still undervolt but 19 vsel is too low for 300 mhz, raise it upto 26 or so
Yes, 19 vsel maybe too low, at least in my case. When I ran the stability test, anything less than 24 would hang the phone after some 10 minutes. 24 is fine in my case but I set it at 26 to give a little more juice.
LOL. Why the hell, should undervolting harm the cpu? Undervolting improves your cpu's lifetime, instead! Less voltage means less stress (heat) and less leak currents for the cpu.
Well, it's true that you might have some instability issues, when the voltage is too low. As soon as you experience so, you can raise the voltage a little, until you have a stable cpu. I've been using undervolting for my PC's CPUs for several years.
PS: I'm on [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]
Never had any problems with my settings, some in this forum use even lower voltages.

48h no problem, record is 80h on moderate use
The battery life on the Defy is absolutely amazing.
I can easily get between 2 and 3 days of normal usage and somewhere in the region of 4-5 if I use it very little.
I reckon if I switched off 3G, had the brightness down as low as possible and generally tried not to use the phone much, I could push a week.
Sadly, my Defy is 'in the shop' just now, damned earpiece.
What do you guys run on the background? I probably able to get 1.5 days on normal usage. Even after charging and no usage, I lose about 10 % after an hour or so.

It is impossible to get 1.5 day if defy uses 10% for 1 hour standby. Defy rounds 95% to 100%, and 94% to 90%. So it is possible that an apparent 10% drop is actually a 1% drop. You may install Motocharge to see the battery in 1% increment.
I'm happy to hear everyone getting excellent battery life. The DEFY is a truly unique Android phone.. I'm just afraid that us stateside won't get devices like this because of AT&T... the Bravo is a step below the DEFY just because it doesn't share the same faux-rugged water resistant build. I'm glad T-Mobile picked this one up, overclocked it's only a bit slower than my Vibrant in most operations.
Well I did a Quadrant benchmark 'standoff' with a colleague of mine which has a Samsung Galaxy S [EU version of the Vibrant] and I beat him with over 250 points [the Galaxy S did 975, my Defy did 1334], both running Froyo and the Defy being non-overclocked.
I've also noticed that his Galaxy S tends to hang & stutter from time to time. Regarding battery life, he carries his charger with him at all times, I do not, 'nuff said.
I also get ~1.5days of battery life.
I'm able to squeeze more than 80 hours of usage on a single charge running PaYs 5.0. Light to moderate use of WiFi/Data/GPS/BT, no background syncs and most apps firewalled except through WiFi.

18/300
32/700
58/1100

i used circle battery widget and it does shows 1% increments. after 90%, it slows down in terms of usage.
i also forgot to mention that my defy sometime runs pretty hot at 35-38C, which i think accelerates the discharge
what about autobrightness? if is set it on, the battery drains much faster.
For me, with undervolt (800/46;600/30;300/18) I can use my phone to make calls, send sms, surf the web, run some apps, and run one a two games.
After 24h of that usage, I have 50% remaining.
a strange thing happened to me (sorry for my English):
Yesterday I installed the camera 360 that did not work it gave some error. Last night when I went to sleep (1-1.30) had 50% battery, in the morning (7.30-8) phone was dead. I put the phone to recharge, from 11 to 3 o'clock phone has reached 30% of battery so i put the phone to recharge again. Until 10 pm the phone has reached again 30% of battery so I decided to give him a factory reset. With 30% i did 100+ app backups with titanium pro and I gave factory reset, after the phone restore from factory reset surprise the battery show 60% ??? I did restore 100+ app and battery show 50%, I played about a half hour and still 50% battery??? what the hell happened??? 360 camera app has to do with rapid battery discharge???
- I use advance Task Manager droidwall, light <10%, original rom only rooted
- anyway Battery discharge I think is caused by the signal GSM of my operator's.
- anyway in the night i decided to kill the traffic and by that the battery shouldn't discharged hardly over night. right?
(Q) sometimes the touch screen it freezes in games so I have to put the phone in standby and come out of standby, and then the touch screen works again ... this happens to you to?
Hey all,
I'm having serious battery drain on MIK 2.56 and pretty much any ROM that I flash. I'm running Chopsuey9.2.7 along with SetCPU profiles. I underclock the majority of the times.
My SetCPU profiles are:
Set on Boot = 691max/245min conservative
Charging = 1152/245 performance priority 100
Screen off = 245/245 ondemand priority 99
In-call = 1152/245 performance priority 98
Battery <50% = 691/245 conservative priority 97
Temp >43.7 degrees = 614/245 conservative priority 96
My evo doesn't like to be clocked at 128 or even 499. It reaches temps as high as 115-120 degrees during charging and while in my pocket (I'm thinking it may have got damaged when I used to run the SBC kernels in the early stages). Im starting to think that i have a bad battery. My battery will drain from 100% down to 80% within 5 minutes and usually will be dead within 2 1/2 hours after being off of the charger with moderate usage such as calls
text and checking email. I have Autokiller running and have set memory Lowmem settings to extreme thru Darktremor a2sd.
Any ideas/suggestions?
I personally would stop messing with setcpu, its cool to see a phone all Super fast and what not, but isn't completely necessary to govern everything you do [calling, sleeping, etc..] I only find it cool to use when I'm playing a cool ass game like contract killer: zombies for nice smooth graphic, or running a benchmark.. otherwise messsing with setcpu tends to do awkward things like drain battery when not properly adjusted, **Especially when overclocked.
My stock battery lasts all day with my current setup. I have setcpu as well but don't really mess with it. I use Smartass governor with 1075/245 for normal everyday use. If I have too many drinks and have to crash at a friends house without my charger I'll drop the max speed to about 700 and use conservative or just switch the governor to powersave. Then I've got more than enough time till I need to get back to a charger.
i got good life on that ROM using Aggressive Freedom kernel & using set cpu at 245/768 set at boot....no profiles.
So you think the use of profiles is the issue? I'm not completely sure the profile for screen off is working correctly; I ssh'd into my EVO and took a look at /proc/cpuinfo but it will not show the current cpu speed.
I'll give it a shot without profiles and see. As for the govenors, I believe Smartass was removed and replaced with InteractiveX; is InteractiveX as good?

I agree but with the way my profiles are set, I'm underclocking the majority of the time and only overclock when charging or on a phone call.
ive noticed i get wose battery life if i set up profiles. Worth a shot.
Sprint will test the battery for charge free I actually did it today

Could be your baseband or pri. Or maybe update ur prl through a sense rom.
If your phone has a horrible signal it will drain like crazy.

That's correct. Also check your spare parts app for any wake lock.
Also, if you're using a havs kernel, setcpu will conflict with the kernel. And in general, you'll always get better battery life on AOSP.
try using setcpu sometimes that will help save battery.
Disabled Profiles in SetCPU....no luck
So I disabled profiles in setCPU and am underclocking at 691/245 and battery life is still the same. I have the most recent radios/PRI/PRL as well and still getting rapid battery drain. One weird thing it does is the phone will hit 0% and shutdown; I'll place it on the charger (AC wall charger, not the usb adapter) until the orange LED stops blinking; I'll turn the phone on and once it's fully booted it will read 53%......all of this within 5mins of going dead! WTF!!!
I just wiped battery stats again in recovery and will boot and see what that does for me. I'm really starting to think the battery is partially bad....
Just left Sprint. They tested the battery and it tested bad and was swollen. I got a stock replacement free of charge although he said they normally would have charged me because the 1yr factory warranty expired. He also went on to say that the battery going bad was possibly caused from my phone being rooted which he may be partially correct. The problem began when SBC first came out and I was testing on the beta stage. It nice to have my phone off of the charger and not be down to 60% within 45 mins!

my phone has been doing this exact same thing but i took it to sprint they said my battery was good should i go to another sprint tech and let them test it out?
Hi, i have problem because i installed a this ROM it's very nice but now my battery suck. Everyday i must charging it. What can i do to fix it?
*bump*
Install juice defender and run it on extreme. It will stop everything from accessing the net and other crap thats not needed. mine is on 89% and its been on for 21hrs, Mind you I only made 2 calls and 4 sms and on the net for 5mins.
You could also use setvsel and undervolt your phone but I think that makes the processor slower as well.
I found mine chewed threw the power at first but with juice defender it seems alot better and I got it set up now so I am not playing with it every 5 mins lol
Ok i try it. If i have procesor setting :
300 @20
600 @30
800 @40
1200 @58
The procesor is slower than if i will improve the voltage? for example
300 @24
600 @35
800 @44
1200 @62
I am not clued up on the settings only played around with OC and undervolting once but there was no point as you will run at the same speed as stock anyway even if its overclocked.
All I know it the lower the vsel is the better battery life you will get. It will also run cooler as well and this helps the battery if your battery or phone is hot the battery will not last as long.
Undervolting also makes the phone slower so this maybe why people overclock to get it to run the same as stock but undervolted so the battery should last longer.
As I say I only played around with it for half a day and just run stock all the time cant see the point in it with juicedefender.
I know this is like the 800th thread I made about this but, I have 2 3600mAh batteries, both sometimes draining within a day... =/ I bought them from ebay. A few other people bought them on this forum too. The batteries I bought were...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Extended-Ba...ccessories&hash=item27be19414f#ht_2727wt_1163
This battery has lasted me well, but could it be the way I'm charging them? With the wall charger it came with? Should I just let the phone die completely and let it charge via USB in the phone itself or what?
I uninstalled Juice Defender, Kik Messenger, and other apps to see if I was eating up my battery. My ROM is the UK 2.3.3 and I'm overclock with...
No-frills CPU:
Max clock 1.306GHz
Min Clock 364Mhz
Governor smartass V2
I/O scheduler deadline
If you need anymore questions please ask. I'd like to get these batteries working as well as I hear all these other people using theres.
Thanks in advance.

Idk what your experiences is it may depend on what brand of battery your using. It may not be true 3600mA battery I have a MUGEN battery 3600mAh and that battery lasted me 2.5 days with moderate use but my settings are low brightness, turn off wifi when you dont need it, no overclock. But if I keep the same settings and I overclock to 1.2 ghz I get about 1.8 days worth of battery life. Do you get the picture dont overclock for long periods of time.

I was replying to the guy that IS overclocking. If you were to overclock, your battery life would be even worse
I dont know if its phone battery thats up or has bad battery life.Ive noticed my battery runs out rather quickly for example i played subway surfer for like 10 minutes i look my battery life & it has dropped 20% from 80% so i was at 60% it my battery faulty or is it normal. Also any suggestions on other batteries that have better battery that work on this phone.

Just my 2 cents dude,
but battery life drove me crazy with this phone. I wound up rooting my phone, installing a bunch of different Roms, and going through tons of programs. Bottom line that I've come up with is this, you have to root your phone. If you don't want to install Roms thats fine, but there are some that I have had great battery life with, namely Jedi MInd Trick and Rushing's Galaxy_ROM (currently using). Get yourself a CPU program and underclock the hell out of your CPU. I use CPU tuner with the uniform profile and max out the cpu around 1 ghz, the phone runs fine with it too. Finish off with Llama and you should be good to go.
Make sure data, wifi and most other crap go off when your screen does. Also make sure the cpu is almost off when the screen is. I have mine set to around 500 mhz .
It kind of sucks to have to do it, but it makes this phone much more tolerable.
Hope this helps
