Hello Guys,
is there a way to setup Windows Mobile 6.5 Standard (on a Samsung B7330 Omnia Pro) to NOT mark e-mails as read after opening.
Outlook has this option, but I can't find it in Windows Mobile. I just want to mark them as read manually. Maybe someone know a registry key or a hack for this.
Thanks a lot
Nils

Hi all,
Is there any way to prevent outlook from blocking external pictures in the emails with WM6? It is really annoying to have to click twice on that tab to get them.
I looked in the forum first (long time) and couldn't find any info, also looked in the registry but nothing obvious.
For info, I get the emails from hotmail using windows live.
Thanks a lot

I've looked for this issue but haven't found it, so please excuse me if you know of a thread which answers it. There's also nothing in MS help. Thanks to all who read this and treat me gently.
Firstly, I'm trying to understand why ActiveSync 4.5 has got settings for both the Windows PC and the Device (called "Tytn" in my case) under Tools>Options? I've attached an image if my description is unclear.
Then secondly, I want to know how I should have Email syncing set-up so that I have my Pocket outlook and PC outlook inboxes and sent items sync'ed.
In my Active-Sync set-up on my PC, everything except for Emails can be checked under both Windows PC and Tytn. If I have Emails ticked under Tytn, the emails in Outlook Inbox also appear on my Pocket Outlook. But I cannot place a check against Emails under Windows PC. I get the message "You cannot synchronize E-mail because it is already synchronizing with Tytn. To enable E-mail for Windows PC, clear the E-mail check box for Tytn and try again".
If I do this, I am warned that my emails will be removed from the Device. I can then check the Emails on Windows PC. If I try to check Tytn as well, I get the same message but in reverse. With the Emails ticked under 'Windows PC' none of my Outlook Inbox appears in Pocket Outlook.
I can't see the point of this option, but perhaps someone can clarify, or point me to a resource which explains everything
Cheers
It looks like you are syncing your device with two PCs? I think emails can be synced with only one pc.
If you are not syncing with two pcs, then delete the one that you are not using, and try to sync email.
Thanks for responding ai6908. It's odd because I've only ever connected the Tytn to one PC. However, on your advice I right-clicked on the Windows PC icon and selected Delete Desktop... and my dilemma is gone.
Trouble is, now it's made me wonder what that option might be for?

Click to collapse
Did you buy a used phone from somebody? It maybe it, anyhow, glad it fixed the problem!
Nice reporting on time man. ActiveSync while in the start ask if you already have profile on your PPC. So next time when you changing computer or the windows of your PPC. Remember to remove the setting from activesync by deleting mobile device that sync with activesync

Oh, man. I see you're a total newcomer, welcome to the Windows Mobile world! Your phone will look like complicated at first, but after a couple weeks playing with it, you should be able to start harnessing it's power.
Pocket Outlook is integrated on your phone. The contact tab, calendar, tasks, etc IS pocket Outlook itself.
In order to sync your contacts with windows, you need to have the syncing software installed. It's on your phone's CD. If not, then you can get it from Microsoft:
Windows XP and earlier, use Activesync.
Windows Vista, Seven, use Windows Mobile Device Center.
After the syncing software is installed, just plug in your phone, select activesync, and follow the instructions on-screen.
To sync your hotmail account directly to your phone, you can use Windows Live (add it to the program tabs) and then sign-in. If you want it directly in outlook PC, then search for the Outlook Connector.
For hotmail; go to the TF3D--> Settings--> email setup menu and enter your details as prompted; it will automatically create a hotmail connection file for you
I am thinking of switching to this phone. I will be comming from a palm centro. My question is do I have to use outlook to sync? I have vista 64 but dont have outlook. Is there a program (non web based) like palm desktop I could use to sync?
Thanks in advance

P.S. I allready love this forum and dont even have the phone yet.
Welcome, dug13.
I think this question has already been asked, but never mind. I have tried it myself, I wanted some software that could run on Linux. Have a look at:
1. Finchsync. I managed to sync my Universal with Thunderbird and Lightning (both on Win XP), but thats been some time ago. Don't know if this still exists.
2. Funambol. Is a server of its own, managed to sync with Evolution (Linux), but I read a few reports about sync only working one way/only sometimes etc.
I ended up without sync, I use PIMbackup for... well, backup! and have my phone contacts on my device and my mail contacts on my laptop. Hard times for Linux users...
My 2ct, Gby.
hmmm
Thanks for the quick reply.I dont have or know anything about linux but thank you for the refrences. I dont want to spend the money for outlook so i guess no deals. I thought i heard u could use windows live?
I just want to sync the cal. contacts, memos or notes ect.
Vista 64 does not come with Outlook Express?
I think it's a free download from Windows Live, on Windows 7 a lot of stuff is missing and you get it free from Windows Live.
Outlook has never been needed to synch.
Now if you wanted to synch email you can just use gmail or similar and not need to synch e-mail.(it allready set up on phone just enterd user pass on mine Ta-Daa!)
hello;
need some help; hopefully being able to resolve the problem;
while ago I did upgrade to 3VO.2.80.092509, good so far, except the ringing problem that paid some people to solve it for me,
anyway;
recently I deleted my contact list from my mobile ( htc s621), now my contacts are in my outlook (outlook 2007), and I want to have them on my mobile.
whatever I do I can not get my contact list into my mobile, I am running win xp sp2 on my home pc, activesynce 4.5, I have deleted the " delete mobile device" from atcivesync window, and sync many times, it just does not work, no error has been given , I see the syncing process and shows how many contacts are syncing, when done and look at mobile contact list, nothing there.
I made a new contact in my mobile and synced it, the new has gone to outlook contact list, even I edited the new one in outlook and synced it again, the new contact on phone were updated,
but wonder why i can not get other contacts into the phone,
I switched " replace item on device" and "replace item on desktop", on activesync widow, still nothing,
whilie searching online for an answer, there was an answer that if I turn off the " enable advanced network functionality" it should work, and for the guy who werre seeking solution it did work, but I can not find such thing on my mobile.
it should be on setting/ connection/usb-pc/, but I guess it should be available on wm5 only I am not sure.
Anyone know how to make this works?
I don't wan to type over 100 contact names into my mobile again.
appreciate your help.
