Touch Pro 2 turning on in magnetic case - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

..........

It's strange that it is getting turned on by the magnetic case, but I'm not one to judge your TP2's sexual preference...
Seriously though, I keep my TP2 in my pocket, while in standby mode, and found that the back light would be lit upon removal, quite regularly...to alleviate this, I started locking the phone by pressing and holding the "hang up" button, then putting it into standby...

How ironic...

Good tip, it works. I had the same problem with my case and another fix is to insert the TP2 in the case with the screen toward the inside--i.e., further away from the magnet. Mine was unlocking, turning the screen on, and shifting to horizontal when inserted with the screen facing out toward the magnet. I like the registry hack better, as that seems to nix the problem completely and I can now insert the unit in the case either way.

It's probably the magnet messing with the stylus sensor in the phone

It seems like whenever a thread on this issue gets pushed down a few pages in the list someone else starts a new thread on the same issue.
I wonder if this is in the Cabs,Tips,Tweaks etc sticky thread. Or maybe in the "Got Mine" - Tell us your thoughts | Ask TP2 owners questions sticky thread. ..???

Yeah, I figured it must be...since even I have posted the fix to this magnet-wake-up issue more than once.

sup folks...I may have inadvertently stumbled upon a fix for you, while trolling the "software worth installing" sticky thread...

TP2 Screen not responding

Hey Gang!!
My Tilt2 (TP2) was acting sluggish the other day and then the touch screen would not respond to anything.
I did a soft reset ... didn't work or solve it ... so I just went ahead and did a hard reset. Even after doing that I have no response from the screen.
The screen shows up everything .. I can view the time, people calling me but it just won't pick up any touch activity at all.
Has anyone ran into this ? or what would you suggest.
Just need some help !!
Thanks !!
TarkuS
I just got the same problem. Wich rom are you using?
Just what came with it from AT&T ... factory settings back on it now.
6.5 winmo
had never put a different ROM on it.
Your digitizer may be dead and in need of a replacement
I just got done searching something's from google and other people who have had the same problem and tried one thing.
The outer rim where the chrome area is , they said to clean or see if there is crap/crud in between the screen and the chrome area.
I did that and it seems to be working ok right now. Just have to be careful. I used my thumb nail to slide in between that area but you might want to use something thinner to be on the safe side.
Thanks, that worked for me also. bit strange solution but isf it works...
the crud you collected must have been pressing the digitizer down in multiple spots or even just ONE spot which led it to think there was already a "touch" on it.. hence not working when you would touch it else where.....
There's been issue's with cases doing that where they are too tight and the screen is picking up that pressure as a 'press'... it's odd you guys have collected that much stuff to make the screen act funny though... messy pockets for sure!

unfarking believable
I'm not believing this..but it worked. Thanks for posting this. I was getting quite desperate!
TP2 screen not responding.
Thank you. Cleaning around chrome area worked, but I lifted the plastic contact a bit, so future users of this method should be careful. The contact lifted above the buttons on the bottom of screen, so I will have to be cautious not to get dirt in further.

Screen Raised

Now, there are similar threads, but they are polluted with differing Opinions.
I'd like to have a clean thread regarding the Issue of a Gap or raising of the Screen.
The issue I'm experiencing (A non issue for some) is that when I go to pull down the status bar (I always end up touching the top of the body) as I drag it down, on the left side It's a fairly perfect transition from Body to screen, but on the Right side of the screen I constantly find myself catching my thumb on where the Screen is raised out of the body fractionally at around 1-2mm
Not very visible, but very annoying as you always feel it.
Another thing, is that when the LED flashes, you can see some this light from the Slight Gap/Raise of the screen.
Also, I'm able to temporary remove this Gap by pushing down on the screen, but it comes back out after releasing.
To clarify this is not the Metal lining as that is seated fine, It's the Screen sitting above it on the right hand side.
Any experience with this problem, and do you think this warrants a return?

If it bothers you enough to start a multi-paragraph thread with a poll then yes, return it. You have to live with it, what everyone else thinks is really irrelevant.

[Q] Difficulty drawing with pen

Just got worried my screen was not able to read my pen in these to areas.
But my finger can Draw in that same place, so its probably just an software issue.
So if someone got a fix or same problem, im happy to hear.
Kristian
Do you have the flip case? I think I read elsewhere that where the magnets are located can interfere with that.
Thank you. It was the problem, read it in an other thread.

Looks like I'm the first moron to get their S-pen stuck. Yay.

No idea what happened. I just slid my s-pen into the body, no problem, but the cap didn't click back out past the o-ring to be flush with the body. It now sits in the body just past the o-ring/seal and will not come out. No idea WTF to do, but this is WAY worse of an issue than people putting the pen in backward on the 5. This wasn't avoidable. Pushing it in further, there's no feedback click and there's not enough force in the spring action to move it back out past the o-ring/seal. Not fun. Kinda pissed.
Any idea on how to coax it back out without scratching or gouging the finish anywhere?
*Update*
Using a thumbtack I very carefully poked the seal all the way around with the side of the point and was able to lightly pry it in a corner to get the end of the pen past the seal. Everything is fine now. Everything still works.
Note to everyone, it takes almost no pressure at all to get the pen seated properly, if you push it in too far (because you have fat fingers and you can't tell how far you're going past your case, like me) it can get stuck on the seal. Lightly press the pen back in and when it clicks, it's seated, stop pushing.
Don't know what o-ring or seal you are referring to. The s-pen chamber is sealed off. I doubt the pen docking hole is sealed itself since you can use the pen underwater anyway. Also, stop pushing when you feel the pen click back into place? Okay, but then you have to push fairly hard to retract the clicky pen top. All of that pressure is trying to push the pen further into the phone first, and since it can't go anywhere, the pen top retracts instead. I'm not following what you're saying at all.
This happened to me too. Had to use the tip of a pin to get the S-Pen button to pop back out again. Not sure why it happened, but there's a big YouTube video on this exact issue with the Note 7. Mine happened ironically after I did a water test in the bathroom sink to test the water resistance of both the phone & the pen. It passed the test - just under a minute under a couple inches of water.
What gives?
Just wanted to say this happened to me too, also after getting it wet. I had to use a razor blade to pry it out l, luckly I didn't scratch anything though.

My bad, I'm talking about the new ridge that blocks the pen from being able to go in backwards. It's got a rubberized finish at that ridge and that is where the click tip got hung up.

One phone does not make an "issue." If it's an issue you'll by joined by others in short order. Until then your phone or S Pen has a singular defect. But thanks for queuing the OMG! crowd so this thread can grow needlessly to multiple pages like the RAM and glass scratching threads.

By worse of an issue I meant that putting then s-pen in backwards problem with the Note 5 was as simple as not putting the s-pen in backwards... That's a user error situation. If more people start having the same issue as I had with the Note 7, during normal use, that's an absolutely true statement for me to have made. And 3 people have apparently had the same thing happen to them thus-far. Maybe it's not something that will effect everyone. Just sharing my personal experience.
I apologize if it seemed I was aiming at stirring things up, as tone isn't something one can convey well using text. That was not my intent. I just suspected that this might be something we see start popping up a bit in the forum. For $850+ USD it's not something I expected to happen and my initial shock may have weighted my words/tone incorrectly.

Do you ever have something positive to say?
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Free mobile app
The clicky button on top of the S Pen can sometimes get stuck outside of the Note7, too. Take yours out and instead of a quick click to lock it down, click and hold for a few seconds then let go. It will stay down and you'll have to fiddle with it to get it back up. I was able to replicate this a few times yesterday, but it doesn't seem to be doing it now. Hopefully it stays like that.
Wow.
Im sorry to hear all that. I heard of the note 5 people putting there sitck in backwards. I had the ntoe 3 and note 4 edge, never try to put my stick in backwards ever.
But this is just putting it in just a little to good lol...
I do worry that the clicker on the spend will go out it and it will be hard to remove but never thought it would just get stuck from pressing it in to hard.
This is way worse than note 5 reverse spen issue. Anyone in right mind wouldn't push pen in reverse as nib will be facing opposite which fingers should know as reflex when sliding in and to actually get to jam force needs to be applied. Note 7 stuck spen problem is like it happened even when one put it back as one is supposed to put it back. Hope Samsung will release bug fix firmware patch soon

Speak for yourself... Most people I know bought the note specifically for the S-pen... Once they started using it it became second nature.
Just because you don't use it much does not a mean others don't...

This sucks. I hope it is just yours (sorry, I'm not sorry) and not a wide spread issue. One way to avoid this issue is to click the top of the spen before inserting it into the device. I know you shouldn't have to, but its just a suggestion.

wut? I use it all the time. Its better than your finger for almost anything. I find it more comfortable than my finger, even when swiping.
I haven't had a Note since my N3. Have the capacitive buttons always been responsive to the SPen or is this new? I dont think my N2 or N3 were.
I find it extremely amusing that every year Note users have to have their annual "Stuck Pen" thread.
Also, if you hold the phone with the pen slot facing away from you, and tap the other bottom corner on your hard with sufficient force, the pen will come out. Just so you don't have to dig your pen out.

Same issue here the pen's spring gets stuck and then you cant remove it from phone. Get a new phone they didn't wan to replace the pen only.

auto clear of frequent callers

Not a pixel 2xl specific issue...
But a Google dialer pita.
I would like to be able to have my favorites in the dialer cleared on an recurring automated process.
Just too easy to butt dial.
Just curious, how do you butt dial with a touch screen phone? I haven't butt/pocket dialed anyone since 2010.

Heres how...
Finish a call, put unlocked phone in pocket, screen still on.
The favorite icons in the phone app are huge. Takes nothing to press one.
Do some Google searches on the topic, lots of complaints about this issue.
Its another one of Google's self help features that many wish could be turned off but google refuses to change.
I have used a different dialer, trucaller, to solve the issue but i prefer The google dialer

Modern smartphones use capacitive touch screens which means they require something conductive, like a finger, to make it work. I've never heard of any fabric (except the special tips on some gloves) that is conductive being used for common clothing. I've put my phone in my pocket with the screen on many times and never had the screen react at all.

I don't really want to debate it. It just doesn't make sense. Considering how the hardware works what you are describing shouldn't be possible. I'm just trying to understand what is causing that. Maybe something else conductive in you pocket? Maybe an accidental touch as you are putting it in your pocket?
hmmm

I just have a habit of turning off my phone screen when I'm done with it, pocket or not. But yes, phones can register touches through thin sheets of fabric. So, just turn off the screen (or tap the home button to exit the dialer) because there isn't a way to clear your favorites after each call.
