Hey all,
Just curious, can we use the $10/ month non-smartphone unlimited data plan with the Tmo TP2? So far, i haven't heard if anyone has been able to obviate the need to have the smartphone lan activated on their Tmo TP2.

first and foremost this is not a comparison thread i just cant info on this at all.
so here goes
i have an iphone and an att tilt 2.
att offers 2 data packages one is iphone specific the other is a smartphone plan. same price
now my iphone wont work with out an iphone plan. so my data plan is iphone atm, my tilt 2 data also works with this plan.
the question is if i switch the data plan to smartphone plan will i see any difference in speed on the tilt 2?
atm i can pop the sim card around from phone to phone, both work with having an iphone data plan.
but if i go with the smartphone plan, would the tilt 2 speed improve?
from my understanding the tilt uses att wap for internet access.
Changing your plan from the iPhone plan to anything else won't change the speed on your tilt. Internet is either disabled or enabled, and the speed is dependent on the hardware (the towers, your phone, etc.). The tilt2 supports 7.2mbps 3G, but more than likely AT&T in your area doesn't support it.
For the record, I've been using Smartphones (8125, 8525, Tilt, TP2) on AT&T w/o the correct data plan forever with no problems (glances down @ my $10/month unlimited internet for TP2).

thanks you!
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone has jumped on the new T-mobile Unlimited Value plan, and if your are able to tether using the built in tethering setting? I see that tethering is not a feature that is supported with this plan, and I was wondering if they were somehow able to see if you are tethering the data or not. My gut says no, but I just wanted to see if anyone has tried it out yet. Currently on their pre-paid $30 5GB of data plan, and it works just fine. Thanks!
if you have a rooted GN running CM or say AOKP you should be able to tether without problems from my understanding. I am not sure yet if it is stopped since i do not know anyone that has the data plan and uses a GN. The other thing is to get the data plan you would have move from your pre paid plan to a contract.

Ok, so I recently bought a Samsung GS3 from my sister that has T-mobile. I took it to metro and they unlocked it and activated it for me. I chose the $50 Plan which gives me 2.5gb of Blazing Fast Internet. I also purchased the mobile hotspot. When I reached 2.5gb of data, it slowed down. I tether to play xbox. Unable to afford legit internet lol. Before, I was able to tether with my LG Motion 4g for free!. I never lagged as much, I was able to connect my tablet and ran with some smooth speeds. (with the $50 Plan). So I called and managed to call metro pcs and they were able to change it back to the lg motion. My speeds were still slow!. I asked them if I can change it to the $60 plan since it was unlimited and they said that Tethering is not compatible? Is there a way to have Unlimited Data and tether at the same time? I don't want to pay for Unlimited Data without being able to tether to my other devices. HELP!
You can't add tether to the $60 plan, but you may be able to tether if you flash roms with native tether enabled, or search and find other ways to tether.. And on a side note, they did not unlock your device, all T-Mobile phones are compatible with metroPCS

Hi T-Mobile-ites!
I'm considering switching to T-Mobile but I have a question about the 2.5gb Mobile HotSpot vs unlimited 4G. I want unlimited 4G hotspot and wonder if anyone is doing this not through the Mobile HotSpot app, but rather through a stand alone WiFi app such as WiFi tether router by Fabio Grasso? Does T-mobile block this form of hotspot?
I'm currently on a grandfathered unlimited plan with another carrier but its pricey. I won't switch to T-Mobile or anyone else if I can't get unlimited hotspot for my laptop, streaming internet video, etc.
Thanks!
I came to tmobile from att from a grandfathered unl plan. They have started instating a 5gb limit on those plans. Truly unlimited for tmo is only 70 bucks plus what ever you are paying for your phone. Say roughly 90. Plus with the unlimited you still get 2.5 of hotspot. I am looking into right now if with a third party app you can get around the Hotspot limit.
Hello everyone,
I currently have a samsung galaxy s5 rooted specially for the hotspot.
I am thinking of changing my unlimited sprint data plan for any carrier on that would work like sprints unlimited hotspot using a new ONEPLUS3, with no data slowdowns . Any suggestions! Thanks

T mobile is great to me.
Thanks! Is you data plan prepaid? Does your download speed slows down after any over limit?

I'm a long time customer of T-Mobile. I have a 30 dollar unlimited package. Unlimited everything, though I think after 10 or so GBs, it goes to 3g. I think that's how it works. But I've never noticed any slow downs. Probably because I never really reach 10gb. But they still offer unlimited plans I believe. And op3 works great with the carrier. Simple SIM swap and you're ready!
My mother has a 3 or 4gb plan. I think she pays like $15 a month. She's not a big user of her phone, and she has an iPhone 6. She's been a customer as long as me.
So my plan would be extremely cheap if I didn't still owe for my old lg g4 and my htc10. Once those are paid off, my plan will be very inexpensive

Oh, and it's a 2 year contract like pretty much anyone else. You pay monthly.
And Wi-Fi hotspot limit is 6gb I believe on all unlimited plans. I think after 6 it just slows speed. Not positive though on that.
Is there any way to trick the mobile hotspot?
I mean using the modified hotspot so it wont know the difference between the hotspot or the mobile data?
Like Sprints unlimted Data PLan, it doesn't know the diffence.
Most carriers can tell since the user agent of your browser on a PC communicates that it's a PC even if traffic is being routed through your phone
Edit: please delete
MetroPCS is the bomb. Works off of T-Mobile and you still get volte. And it's cheaper.

Long time user of Verizon with unlimited grandfathered plan. I left it for OP3. Why? Seems to me since I buy my phones and only like the unlock able types Verizon will never get off the CDMA network and globally GSM seems to be the standard. So I left VZW for Sprint.
I am in the US and the performance and coverage has been just as good. I do have a TMobile as a second sim for home phone which is off most time....but I find that TMobile is weaker in county and has most spoty area for coverage. VZW was excellent for my US travels but so for since just switched ATT is holding fine.
