Does somebody know if it is possible to replace the notes buton in the dialer for a record button. In the cabs, tweaks, etc. post is written down how to enable in call recording, but to start a recording you must first open the menu. Is is much easier to have a start record button.
Anybody ????

Hi there,
In Midget's Vanilla Crossbow ROM there are only three buttons to set in "Settings - Buttons", which are Contacts, Camera and Speech. I am missing others like PIE and the bulb button.
Is this right? Is this a known issue in Midget's ROM and is there a solution?
Thanks again folks!
here is the solution:
I found this some time ago and it works:
....
add the following key to the registry:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\40C8
and create values just like another key (i.e. 40C5)
soft-reset and then you are able to program the button.
Can anyone expand to his instructions please. Did anyone tried to remap their backlight button yet?
I just tried and it works. Copy the complete key for 40C5 and call it 40C8. Choose a different name for the button (e.g. 'Button Light').
40C1-Contacts
40C2-Video Telephony
40C3-Camera
40C4-Voice Recorder
40C5-Speed Dial
40C6-Volume Up
40C7-Volume Down
40C8-Backlight (now added)
40C9-Calendar
That helped!! Thanks!!
It says acces denied when i try to create a new key.
I did it with Total Commander but any Regedit should do!
calvin42, thank you for this information!
I tried all this keys and it works except for:
* "Volume Up" / "Volume Down" do not work;
* I have no "Calendar" key, where is it?
* I do not know how to set proper icons for keys, can anyone with "normal" firmware save and post "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Keys" for us?

Dumb question time
40C4-Voice Recorder
40C5-Speed Dial
These are both to the same key, the one next to the camera button yes?
If so, why can't I get a push and hold to work, I only get the value in 40C4 to work?
Wow...Dead thread? Is there no solution to this?
I read several threads about recording voice notes in WM on this forum, and still I cannot find solution for one button voice notes recording in Windows Mobile 6.1 on Samsung 780.
I was able to assign red button (4 hold) and notes with recording label opens up - but it's not recording and I have to start recording manually, and I would lile it would record right after I press red button and fininsh if I will release it or press again (that worked on my old htc wizard).
I made all shortcuts in AppButtons, StartPrograms in Windows (Record.lnk) also in registry I made changes as discussed here (HKLM>Software>Microsoft>Keys and there link to Record.lnk -b) - I thought that this -b will make auto record but it doesn't change anything.
Can someone help me with this topic - I really need this funcionality and do not want to pay for other software if it sits alreadey in my device.
vito audio notes as voice notes in i780
Vito Audio Notes is what you need. I have it on my I780 and it's great for that. Fast, simple and you can assign each button.
Also can record every phonecall automaticly or after button press.
Thx for your advise, but I would prefer something free.
check this post bro. it's vito audio notes, and i think it's free..

That's what I needed - thx Mon!
Hi fellow XDA-Developerians,
I am on Topix 2.7 now. Can't remember on which ROM but I have actually used a ROM by either Onkolog or Miri which has call recording option under the right softkey menu during a call. This gives the flexibility to record only the part of the whole call that you want. I am using ACR v1.2.1 but there is no such option of activating it when needed. So basically if you make a 1 hour call it will record the whole conversation which will eventually eat up a lot of memory. Can anybody tell me how to get the option in the right softkey which I was talking about?!
Only edit this reistry entrys:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\AudioRecording]
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Voice]
"EnableCallRecordMenuItem"=dword:00000001
"AllowInCallRecording"=dword:00000001
Or, more easy, install the cab
Bye
is there an inbuilt recorder for phone conversations on the tp2?

You need to follow the two steps bellow:
1. To enable 2 way recording just change:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev]
"VocRecPath"=dword:00000002and you'll be able to record with any software.
2. If you want to use WM6 native recording (WAW only, on \my documents\notes, manual activation: during a call hit "record" on call menu) create:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\AudioRecording]
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Voice]
"EnableCallRecordMenuItem"=dword:00000001
"AllowInCallRecording"=dword:00000001
ICR volume adjust?
Does anyone know how to control the volume of the other party relative to the one making the call?
While I can get ICR to work, the other party's volume is very low compared to my own.
PS: according to Microsoft the key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\AudioRecording] does not need to be present to enable recording.

Remap Search Softkey To Camera .... is there one specifically available for the Evo?? It would be great to have a designated camera button
Edit the file /system/usr/keylayout/supersonic-keypad.kl. The first 8 lines (without a # preceding them) define the action assigned to each key, and its behavior.
Just find the line that calls on the SEARCH action, change it to the CAMERA action, then reboot. (I gave it a quick try, and while the search button does launch the camera, it only does so on long-press.)
Some info about this can be found here.
Additionally, CM7 ROMs allow you to define custom actions for the search key, on tap and on long-press.
Also found this....costs 99cents but rather pay than taking the chance of messing up something

Apps make a great alternative to modifying files directly, especially considering it's easier to reinstall a few apps that make changes for you than it is to remember how to perform all your mods after an update or ROM change.
