Hey ppl, i'm a newbie here. Scrolling thru varies sites has given me a big doubt now (might look silly for u guys!).
1. What is Manila 2D? Is it a ROM or is it just a emulator or what u call as home screen plugin...?
2. If at all it is a ROM, how to install it for my HTC Touch Elfin? Please explain in steps of what is all the requirements, what all i have to do? Please.. some one please take the pain of explaining the steps how how to install Manila.
Any details about the phone is required, please let me know.

Shouldn't there be a standard reply to threads that duplicate existing threads explaing that there is already one similar, use search, look at wiki, read forum rules before posting etc, etc? One that anyone can copy and paste.
how about this.. we post a new thread called 'touchflo finally working', make it sticky and in it tell them to stop posting about it

Is it possible? Yes. You can install anything you want on your phone, the question you need to research is it going to work.
As with most forums, users tend to ask the same noobie questions over and over again. This annoys a lot of forum members, including me.
Now I, myself, walked into the lamppost.... And got stuck with a few easy to answer questions.
So for the rest of the newbee questions, please add them to this topic.

1. How do I backup my current ROM? As in: What do I need and what do I need to do?
2. What is "Hard-SPL"? What does it do? What does it allow us todo? Is it risk free? Will it destroy my data? What happens to my current ROM?
Example:
I have a HTC Touch Diamond with ROM 1.35.404.4 NLD, so I downloaded this "Hard-SPL-Diamond-OliNex.zip" and extracted it. I run "ROMUpdateUtility.exe", screw the warnings ... then it asks me to update ....
Thats the point where my nerd brains start to think, but I clicked it ... pfiew ... it asked me to update from image version 1.35.404.4 to 1.30.OliNex.
Now is my question of course: "What does this do and what is the result?"

My excuse for the two noob questions, but I have crawled this forum for quite a while and couldn't bring up a unified answer or "walktrough".
This is my first Windows Mobile phone and with my background ... I really want to "mess things up", you know what I mean
just for laughs,
1) what is the size of the diamond in points?
3) Is it a brilliant or princess cut?
2) Is there any fluoresence?
3) Which certificate does it come with?
4) What is the clarity? - Im after atleast a VS1
5) What is the colour? - really need it to be perfect, like D
I did actually predict these kind of posts from one of the "higher ranked members" here...
But be serious, if you know where to find the information ... why not link it for us?
This would A, discourage alot of **** posts and B clarify usage and usability to other users.

You're the one that have to see the ROMs availlable and choose one that you like. For one people one is the best, but for other is other... Because all ROMs have different softwares, tweaks, etc...
Just follow the link that i gave and see wich ROMs are availlable.
In the same link there is a "How 2to flash" that explains you how to do it...

The idea is
1. Read the forum ….a lot first get an idea on what’s what and how it works!
2. Go to the relevant sub section for your phone.
3. Read that forum a lot.
4. Search for the how to update my phone guide via the search function.
5. Follow the guide and then if your not certain or stuck THEN post a help request.
I think you will find that there are many different versions of the rom and you will want try the different ones yourself and see what works for you.
As a rule what one person thinks is the best thing since sliced bread the next will think is a pile of manure you ultimately will need to make a decision and once you have followed a guide (and I do mean follow to the letter) and seen how easy it is to do you will feel less worry about the process.

I'm sure I referred you last night to the link on how to do it (did I not, if not I'm sorry). Read the Dummies Guide to Flashing in my signature which explains step for step how to flash any rom.
EDIT: Yes I did - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4574531&postcount=3 and just as that thread was closed down so will this one be. Why do you get an answer and choose to ignore it and then start a new thread which will just get closed down again to ask exactly the same question. Please read the thread I referred you to (and the forum rules whilst you're about it) and post any questions you may have in the Dummies Guide threa and DO NOT just open up new threads.

To find out about the Radio, read the wiki, but basically it is the radio that allows you to make calls
can someone please help! i was told if i want to put other ROMs on my phone then i must have hardspl. how do i get it and what to do from there and YES im new at this so can someone please help?

bro, go to youtube and look up a video on task29 first. if you can at least do that then you mite be able to actually do it in the near future.
