Will there be a PDA2K with EDGE?

Hey all,
I know that the current PDA2K GSM is GPRS enabled but not EDGE (EGPRS). Will there be an EDGE version or did I just buy a Siemens SX66 for no reason at all... hmm I mean I realize you probably can't upgrade it via a soft upgrade or an SD card... but at any rate any thoughts on whether an EDGE chipset based device will be available?
In PDA2k form? Never.
HTC has moved on to it's next line of products.
The HTC Universal has UMTS support, the step above EDGE.
The HTC Wizard does indeed have EDGE support. I personally believe late buyers of the PDA2k got screwed, and would not recommend ANYONE buy a new device until the next line is out.
The next v ersio nis not the form factor I (and a lot of others) desire. Yes newer and faster is better, but did what were they thinking onthe re-design of this device. I did not want a mini laptop, I want (and bought) a PDA with slid out keyboard. This has been their most popular device, and have touted how their financial numbers have skyrocketed, have they forgotten why?
I know that a lot of people that I have spoken with are just as disappointed in the new design as I am. How about others on this board?

Is UMTS backwards compatible
Question is UMTS backwards compatible, like most edge enabled phones still support gprs, will the UMTS phones operate one edge networks. because out here in the USA UMTS is no where near, cingular is still trying to make there edge networks nation wide, and tmobile doesnt even have an edge network,
sorry what is edge????

Hypothetically, you can buy Backpack for XDA (100$ at my place:-( which gives CardFlash (CF) extension to your device and then you will need to buy CF GPRS/EDGE modem card (usual CF card for notebooks ~150$)
Cheers
So there isn't such thik as an EDGE upgrade for the siemes?

audiovox ppc6600 T-sim compatible?

Hi
does anybody know anything about tsim slot inside a cdma based blue angel (PPC 6600)?
thing is i wanted to buy an audiovox ppc6600 here in US and use it in india with Tata Indicom (CDMA carrier). A cust. care rep in india said that they have the same phone (blue angel) there sold as Tata Indicom Konquer and it is tsim compatible.
Now if Konquer is tsim compatible, then audiovox ppc6600 should also have the same compatibility, since they both are essentially made by HTC. But i do not not for sure if this is the case.
Has anybody done this sort of thing before (switching carriers with 6600)?
Or does anybody know anything about it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks

MiniSD Wifi card in MDA III compact?

Hey all,
Just purchased an MDA III compact and overlooked the lack of wifi lol...
Noticed a few MiniSD wifi cards on ebay etc, but i understand the card slot is under the sim card on the MDAc III... i assume these "Spectec" wifi cards will not fit in this space, so is there any adaptor available running along a ribbon or something... or is it possible to create something like this? lol
Cheers,
Rogggo
lol?
MDA III has a WiFi...

Well at least My T-Mobile MDA III has a WiFI
Welcome to wireless Nirvana: the MDA III offers quad-band GSM/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 MHz with GPRS Class 8 and 10, Blueooth and Wi-Fi 802.11b. Signal reception for all three radios proved on average very good, and T-Mobile thankfully decided to include a new Bluetooth stack rather than the profile-anemic atrocity found in the MDA II. Profiles abound, and for Wi-Fi the MDA III supports both WEP and WPA, as well as 802.1x for added security - a boon for both enterprise users and security-conscious consumers.

Requesting [Again] for a [CDMA] Audiovox XV6600/6601 Support Subforum

Again I am requesting subforums for this phone and to moderate it. Please make this possible. Harrier is TOO general, and most people only recognize these phones as "Audiovox Harrier XV6600, XV6601 CDMA"
Reasons -
Phones are STILL being sold as NEW prepaid phones. [I have witnessed this in Chicago last year.]
Support for Sprint, Verizon, Telus, and other CDMA carriers.
Support for users including WM2003SE support and program recommendation and support.
Reviving the Android build that we had been working on for these CDMA phones. GSM Android support is included. We are currently at the keymapping stage with some users accomplishing this. There is a pot prize for this build completion.
Pot prize for completing a working WM5+ build. Users will save data to flash memory instead of on-board dram. Prevents data loss when device suffers from loss of power or drop. Users will be able to access more programs and features including up to date browsers and media players.
List of available accessories that have been owned/approved by XDA users, including retractable data cables, 4GB SD cards, cases, car mounts, GPS SD cards, and more, as well as support for these.
I can devote my time to moderation.
Please, PLEASE make these subforums for us! There is NO OTHER support forum on the net!!!
