does anybody use boost mobile service with their blue angel?
I don't think it would work on BA. The BA is GSM, and boost is iDen/CDMA. So no, it will not work. Maybe the Harrier will, though.
the boost $50 unlimited plan can be used with any cdma phone. i was just wonder if anybody uses it and knows the internet settings because i might be able to get a good deal on one.

still, the blueangel is no cdma phone. you are referring to the harrier. so, if you contact boost about that, and order that plan, they will probably instruct you on how to get your harrier set up for that, if it is possible at all (i don't know to much about cdma, but if it works without sim cards, the phone needs to be ported to that network...)
from what i read, the most american users here have a data plan on cdma by sprint.
tony you are right. i would need the harrier to use on a cdma network.

Hey guys. I'm in the initial research stages of buying a PPC, however I am very limited on time before I have to choose one because my current nextel phone died. The company I work for is switching from nextel to sprint, so I will be signing up on what is currently the sprint pcs network. I have looked around a bit, and have a lot of interest in the pda2k version of the blue angel, however I came to realize that sprint uses CDMA instead of GSM/GPRS. My understanding is very juvenile of how these protocols work and their compatibility, however it's my understanding that the quad band GSM standard pda2k will not work with my sprint CDMA carrier. It appears the EVDO model is CDMA compatible. Will this easily be able to work with SPRINT?
I see they offer their version of the same thing basically, the ppc 6600 sprint version of the blue angel. What I'm also wondering, is there any real advantage to getting the i-mate version? I know there is the i-mate forum with updates etc, but aren't those firmware etc updates available to sprint 6600 owners as well?
I know that getting the unlocked pda2k GSM version has its advantages in the versatility - switching from carrier to carrier. Does the EVDO share any of the same benefits? I'm assuming the sprint 6600 is not transferable?
I know I should spent days/hours searching and reading up on these forums and typically do in other genres of products/research, however I am pressed for time and it's easy to see that the guys around this forum are the real deal and know their stuff. Excuse the blatant probe for knowledge if you would, and please offer any suggestions/answers to my issues if you're able! Thanks a million in advance,
Dave
22 views and nobody has any info? :?
The only advantage to the sprint 6600 vs the Imate is that the 6600 is EVDO which is faster data rates than you would get with the pda2k. However Sprint's data service is more expensive as well.
Some of the disadvantages:
1. No WIFI on the sprint phone
2. Phone will only work on Sprint
3. Video capture is limited (don't know for a fact, only from hearsay)
If your employer is forcing you to Sprint then you have no choice and are stuck with the 6600 phone, which is OK. If you have a choice buy an iMate pda2k and get T-mob or Cingular...
If you are going with Sprint, then you have no choice but to get the 6600. The Sprint 6600 is basically the same phone as the iMate EVDO, so there is no advantage to getting the iMate especially since Sprint will not allow you to activated any phone on their network that they don't sell you. CDMA is not like GSM. There is basically no such thing as an unlocked CDMA phone and you can't transfer a CDMA phone from one provider to another (like Sprint to Verizon or visa versa).
Thanks for the replies. I think I'm pretty much stuck with the 6600, or any better sprint compatible option. I think the only other one is the palm treo.
I am definitely locked into getting a sprint phone, and do not care about pricing plans etc as it's a company paid phone that's part of a group plan.
I think the 6600 is certainly more appealing than the treo feature wise, but I'm pretty worried about its ability to be used easily as a phone. How do you guys like them that use them on a regular basis to talk? I really don't like earpieces, and will likely use it like I use my nextel, on speakerphone holding it a few feet away from my face. Is it easy to find numbers and dial, call waiting etc?
Finally
Check this: http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009...ss-touch-pro2-to-land-september-11th-for-199/
Finally..verizon tp2 is not crippled
Engadget has a leaked internal memo confirming this as well.
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/09/04/htc-touch-pro2-graces-verizon-on-september-11/
This brings me back to the question, does anyone know if it will at all be possible to unlock this for use on US AT&T 3G?
So it will be $489.99 without contract right??

According to that leaked memo, yeah.
Anyone know if its possible to unlock for US AT&T 3G? I'd pay $500 in a heartbeat for no contract, an actual number row, green (I'm a green whore), for once not crippled by Verizon version...
nothing personally to any of you, but I've had Verizon, and i'd rather have a a GSM network that I can swap Sim's on, and switch phones when I like.
The Cdma network, has great coverage and clarity, but I'd rather have the freedom of what phone do I want today

Is there a phone better than the tp2? No then there is no need to swap!
I'm surprised more people haven't responded to this. As a long time Verizon customer, this announcement MADE MY DAY!
I called the Verizon 800-number and was told that it is indeed releasing on the 11th... can't wait! I'm going to use my NE2 $50 off and hopefully get some kind of retention discount since I'm out of contract... $149 after rebate minus whatever I can finangle , will be a nice upgrade from my XV6800/HTC Titan.
Does anyone think they will allow for preorders or will it be a grab for it on the day it launches?
Yep - the VZN TP2 is very much on my radar. I have been very happy with my current Moto A4500 (Q9 Napoleon) running WM 6.1 Standard, but looking forward to a touch screen interface. Actually, one of the nice things about VZN is that I can toggle between devices via the dial up "device programming app:" *228 option 3.

CDMA Touch Pro 2 also has SIM slot and should work on GSM networks so you can swap whatever SIM card you want in the CDMA TP2.

I don't think it'll work on domestic GSM networks though, just overseas. I have an Ozone with Verizon and it came with a Verizon/Vodaphone SIM installed, but when I try to access AT&T's network here it can't.
Edit-According to Phonescoop, it's not approved by the FCC to access domestic GSM, even though it can do 1900 and 850. I imagine the same will be true of the TP2.
I was told that the phone would be available for online ordering only on Sept 11th. I was so disappointed as I was planning to open up at the store to get the 1st one!
Has anyone else heard this?

and Its not even a matter of being better, sometimes, when I go to work and I know its gonna be a hands on day, I don't want the phone banging around, I'll switch to a older motorla
Is there any I can use evo with boost mobile. I know a lot of people question this, but please. Prepaid is the only way I can have a phone. Thanks
nope sorry
Have you tried going into a boost mobile store (authorized retailer only, not corporate) and asking them to activate the phone on their network? You will NOT be able to purchase one from a sprint store unactivated and bring it to boost. You will not have 4G service, if you do a lot of people are going to try this and it will get fixed, so dont tell anyone if you do (except me).
A boost authorized retailer would love to do this for you because then he can pocket the normal subsidy on the phone which would be sold to you. Call a few authorized retailers and ask them to do this they should know how and be very willing.
boost is owned by sprint they would not allow evo on boost network
The easiest way to get a sprint phone working on BOOST isn't by calling them its getting a BOOST CDMA phone and activating an account or switching your Iden account to the new CDMA phone. Once you have that done you need to have the MSL code for your SPRINT phone and just reprogram it using your MDN which is your BOOST cell# and the MSID thats given to you by BOOST when you activate your phone. Once thats done the phone resets itself and your done, I did this myself and have had my Touch Pro2 working great since Feb. As far as the EVO i want to get it too so it should be the same with the exception of 4G which isnt even available in certain areas like here in NYC yet anyway but everything would be workiing norally in 3G and being that SPRINT owns BOOST i sure they'll be getting 4G really soon. Motorola already has an Iden android phone for BOOST so newer phones and way better service should be comming along too. I had my phone with SPRINT and now that im using BOOST i have the same service with a way better plan and for much less. So if i have to pay BOOST an extra $10 when they get 4G then so be it and i'll have a better plan with the same service instead of paying SPRINT at least $100/month with taxes&fees. Only disadvantage BOOST has is they dont offer a equipment protection plan other than that its much more economical

9 or 10 months ago when they first came out. Now everyone has one.
lol a year later this one gets bumped up huh... So since it's been brought back let's ask this, anyone figured this out yet for the evo..?? That link is for metro not boost..
Flashed EVO on Boost
my Evo is flashed to boost but my phone keeps getting a Data call error 67 when i try to update my phones data profile and PRL my phone also send calls striaght to voice mail when my mobile data connection is enabled Does anyone know how to fix this?
I imagine it won't grab the update/prl since it wants to get it from Sprint, but you are running Boost. When you are using data, all calls will go to Voice Mail, since CDMA doesn't currently support voice/data simutaneously. You can try to uncheck DDTM mode, this will interrupt data and push the phone call through. It will disconnect your data connection and resume it after terminating the call, however if you were downloading or doing something else, it won't automatically resume the download.
Menu---> Settings---> Call---> DDT Mode (uncheck box).
My phone doesn't have full data connection my phone wont stay on the internet when i receive a call and when my wifi is on my 3g connection gets disabled how do i fix this? does anyone know how to fully flash the EVO to run off sprint 3g too?

So wait.
You are complaining about the phone doing EXACTLY WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO DO?
You did do at least SOME research before buying this particular phone, correct?
And what do you mean "flash the EVO to run off sprint 3G?"
That's what it does stock!

Actually thats not what the phones suppose to do cause i know there's a number of people that actually got their EVO's to act like a smart phone on boost and not disconnect their data when calling. Did you do your research? i was actually hoping that someone who knew how to fix the problem would respond rather than someone with just a mere comment that says nothing.

Not possible.
There exists no CDMA service in North America that allows simultaneous DATA and voice.
In theory if you had a good 3g connection and was doing VOIP it could look like you were doing both

yes he can, many have the evo on boost. do a google search my man, you will find what you require to make it happen.
Since my Vibrant is unlocked, I can switch between "Rogers" and "Wind Mobile" (Canada)
The only reason i'm even considering Wind Mobile, is because of their Unlimited Data plan... and I am well aware of their reception and coverage issue...
Whether or not Wind is willing to give me a Data plan alone is a different story....
Anyways, I was thinking... could i use the DuoSim Adapter and have both AWS & GSM simcard in mine...
and in theory, I use Wind Mobile's Data plan and Rogers Voice plan in one phone.... is this even possible?
I doubt you could use both at the same time, but I thought I saw an app at one point which actually allowed you to toggle.
not aloud to post outside linky. edit the one below:

i can't seem to goto that site..
i tried simore.us it worked... but that site doesn't mention "AWS" technology...
but lets say hypothetically it does support "AWS".. and i fit it inside my VIbrant... how will i make the switch from android.. through a software?? how does automatic switch work?
I think you should just stick with one of them.
yeah i'm trynna figure out if my T-Mobile Vibrant supports Rogers 3G.... any1 knows?
I have an evo, which I have flashed to metropcs. I was reading a forum about using 4g from sprint or clear while still using everything else from metro, because the cdma and wimax chips are different. Now I cannot find the forum, and believe me I have tried searching. I am hoping someone knows what I am talking about and can link me.
Apologies If this post design not belong here
You can get 4g by using Simple Mobile instead of MetroPCS. They have an unlimited plan for $60 a month.

According to their website, Simple Mobile is only for GSM. We all know that the Evo is CDMA. Here is what it states:
* Make sure it is a GSM phone
* Make sure it is unlocked
* For 3G, make sure your phone supports the 1700Mhz band
The website also states the SIM kit which you have to purchase for is 12.99...the Evo does not have a slot to insert a SIM card.
Besides, SM offers text, talk and web with 100mb for $50- metro offers more for $50- including unlimited LTE 4g web, navigation, and unlimited international texting
I am using a Sprint HTC Evo flashed over to metro pcs... no 4G. I read somewhere because Sprint is Wimax and Metro is LTE- it won't work.

Should be possible, if you know your MSL code you can use ##3283# from the dialer to get to the settings.
