Hey!
So I installed the new official version of WM6 for TYTN and installed another theme. I have managed to change the background of the ordinary phonedialer by entering registry, but I still haven't found out how to change the PIN CODE screen which appears automatically when the ppc is turned on. It is still green. Anyone knows how to disable (with reg.edit) or remove/replace this background?
I have managed to change everything except this pin-code color.
Thanks a lot anyway!
Doing this via the registry is one option!
But it's dangerous.
You can change the theme in settings-today
This is the best option I think. Them's you can find all over this forum.
Thanks for the reply.
I know how to use the today settings.
The problem is that the background for the pin-code screen which appears when the phone is turned on doesn't change. It stays green. I managed to disable the green background on the dialer and the comm manager, but not the pin code screen background.
If registry editing is the only option, can someone tell me what to change to disable / change?
Hi. Can you share, how did you disable background in dialer and comm manager.
Thx.
of course... sorry.
Dialer background:
use a reg-editor like phm regedit.
og to HKEY_LOCALE_MACHINE/Security/Phone/Skin. Under Enabled change from vale 1 to value 0. turn off the TYTN and on again and the dialer background should be gone.
Comm:
I just installed a new Comm manager that i found here at the forum. installed it an the commanager changed to black and had more options.
I think it is possible to overwrite the corresponding images under the windows directory on your TYTN with your own background images, but I haven't tried it yet. Look in the windows folder for the image that you usually see in the background in com manager and overwrite it with your own image with the same nam and dimensions.
But take a backup first in casesomething goes wrong. as i said. haven't tried it myself
changing these images will work fine but its tedious. Same works for the dialer images if you want to change the background of it.
Hi!
Playing around with cooking in would like to set the registry as i like it. And I'm stuck. Where is the value that decide the band for the phone? I want it to be GSM, not auto. As well, I would like to disable the GPRS auto-attach. It is in Avd conf tool, so it must be in registry.
Another thing - I can't see in settings-buttons screen any button to set up - that must be something in the registry too, right?
And in general - is there any trick to look up such values in registry?
Thanks!

Keys:
RegWriteString("HKLM","\Software\HTC\Manila" ,"HomeLSKPath","\Internal Storage\Program Files\iContact\iContact.exe")
RegWriteString("HKLM","\Software\HTC\Manila","HomeLSKText","iContact")
GPRS:
RegWriteString("HKLM","\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\", "SuspendResume", "GPRS_bye_if_device_off")
RegWriteDword("HKLM","\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\", "CacheTime", 10)
How to find other things:
Export the whole reg; make your changes on our device; export the whol reg again; compare these two files to find the differences!
THANNNKSS!!!
Ahem, after finding some time I'm afraid I'm still in dark. With the button assignement. The reg you put down is pointing to 3rd party app, icontact, which is not in normal ROM.
Anybody has better idea where to look for missing button to be assigned in "personal settings"?
Thanks!

..Tell me which button you like with which action!
Softkey Manager
With this tool you can easily assign the two softkeys.
Of course, I found another one, AE Buttons which is even better, but that's not the point. I know it' somewhere inside.. I don't want to install another soft, I want to fix it in the system.
OK, some time and I will find it..
Thanks!
Do I found the GSM Band settings:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\UMTS\BandSelection]
"Band"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\UMTS]
"OpMode"=dword:00000001
1 is GSM, 0 is auto.
Hi,
i did include ThumbCal in my ROM, now i shure changed the keys under ms/rai for tasks and calendar. strange is that manila ingnores this settings until i change it back and forward again once, then it respects the keys and open ThumbCal as set in keys?
I checked manila files there is no change happening, where the $¥%¢¤# is this setting stored then please?
Any input would be really apprecciated.
best regards

You can modify it, and tons more with Advanced Config http://www.touchxperience.com/en/advanced-configuration-tool.html

I looked into this when I first got my T-Mo TP2. I found the registry area, modified it, and it didn't change the timing.
I think this is yet ANOTHER instance where (starting with WinMo 6.0) the registry is not the storage area for the final values; instead these values are kept in a seperate file... and then transfered to the registry upon bootup.
If this is the case, all one needs do is find the actual file where the keyboard backlight timing values are stored, edit that file, then reboot (hoping the newer values get loaded into the registry).
yes i tried advanced config, but that didnt work...
Which file are you talking bout?

I wish I could tell you the name; but I haven't found it yet.
But this situation is akin to the audio values located in the registry. They are really stored elsewhere - in the AudioPara3 file; and upon power-on... that's where the registry gets the values from. If you do a regedit only, the changed settings won't hold-up after a power cycle (that's why this change can't be accomplished via a regedit alone). And I'm fearful this backlight setting is also stored elsewhere... I just can't find the file. :banghead:

Here's another instance and it's even worse since it's a user settable option! Through the GUI Settings I adjust the Backlight time out: "Settings -> All Settings -> System -> Power -> Advanced" - "Turn off backlight if device is not used for". When I update the value it only persists until the next Soft Reset. How annoying....
It sounds like the same type of problem where at boot time the registry values are overwritten. Who would devise such a backwards system????

Would this also be the case for Wi-Fi SSID values? Seems I have to keep entering the value even I don't do a soft reset. Just moving in and out of range of the hotspot...

Well the only place I can find is .. all settings / personal / buttons / backlight
It says : Enable Keyboard backlight auto sensor ...
I unchecked it .. and the light on the keyboard stays on as long as its open :/
that keyboard backlight
Tried that. Changing Settings doesn't do anything, nor does changing the registry entries, not does using Advanced Config. Has anyone solved this question of keeping the keyboard backlight on for longer?
Hi guys!
I'm trying to turn on Word Completion for the full QWERTY keyboard, but I cannot find how to. I know that you can toggle Word Completion through Personal => Input => Options, but only for XT9 and the Compact QWERTY. I would like to enable it for the full QWERTY.
Does anybody know how?
Thanks for any help in advance!
Kind regards,
Piet
I'd very much like to know how to do that as well. Tried in the past, but it didn't seem possible via the standard settings.
I found the answer myself!
I found the answer myself! The trick is to change 2 registry keys.
Change these two registry keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\ Control\Layouts\e0010409
- Change the value of Ime File from \windows\eT9ime.dll to \windows\compime.dll
- Change the value of Layout Text from ET9 IME to COMP IME
Perform a soft reset and you wil now see that word completion works in the default language of your device.
You could replace the dictionary used (\Windows\Mssp2.lex) by one of your preferred language to change this.
For the Dutch users I have attached a CAB file which does this all for you. This is for WWE devices and you end up with Dutch Word Completion only.
Kind regards,
Piet
On my device I can turn it on whenever I want by bringing up the on-screen keyboard then hiding it. It is only temporary, and works until I close the keyboard and go back to portrait.
The problem with the reg edits is that eventually your keyboard will get stuck. The way to do it without messing anything up is through HDTweak. Not HD2Tweak. There is a difference. Once installed scroll down and turn xt9 off. Then the very next option will be T9. This is what you enable. Dont forget to soft reset. You will have auto correct and word completion perfectly after that without any problems.

The funny thing is that HDTweaks does the exact same thing as my cab does.
I used SKTrack to monitor the changes made by HDTweak and it changes the exact same registry keys to the exact same values I suggested...

Checkout my cab, it includes a tool to fix the stuck keypad: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=772413
