hi all, i have searched for this but havent found anything really conclusive.
i was wondering if there was a panel for the x1 which is solely for contacts management/phonecalls, something along the line of finger-freindly or icontact but as a panel...in otherwords a very user friendly contacts panel.
any advise would be much appreciated
regards
pete
Closest thing I know of is the Media Xperiance Panel, but it is very buggy w/ custom ROMS and I wouldn't recommend it.
the closet thing i knew is a software called funcontant
you can try this one i use it when i have lot of contants..
it ca make me easy to fonnd the one i want ti found
You should install SPB panel. It has a customizable screen with 7 pages. You can put a lot of shortcuts to contacts here...

I currently use the HTC Home Plug and am loolking for something else, anyone have some examples of clocks they use on their homescreens? I would like to see them and please post the cabs if you have them. I would prefer a nice Digital like the Home Plugin but without all the tabs and stuff. thanks.
Cheers!!!
I am using the Samsung clock...for the same reasons you are looking for an alternative to HTC Home. This one can be customized in a few ways - black digital, white digital, analog etc. Here's the cab if you want to check it out...
Cheers.
I really like Samsung Time's look on Today but it does seem to slow my Hermes down apppreciably. Someone on here mentioned it having a memory leak but I don't know if that's true.
I tried rlToday but it's more than I need tbh, I was just after a clock really.
There are a lot of freeware Today clocks all over t'internet though. Anyone have one they want to sing the praises of?
you can get a lot of ideas from THIS THREAD. There are some really nice home screens there and I'm sure the members would be more than happy to answer any questions you have about the apps they're using. If you're willing to purchase an app, check out Spb Pocket Plus 4, Spb Mobile Shell, and actually almost all Spb Apps. Good Luck
samsung clock
I installed the samsung clock
but how do you make it a 12 hour clock instead of a 24 hour one?
Just want to know if there is any way to hide the call history on the main Home page.
I find it useless as it's good for the initial stage of reminding me of a missed call, but other than that it's wasted space.
I would prefer to have more space for calender contacts.
What you're asking is not easy...... You have to use manila editor, search it in this room. Unfortunately there aren't lots of better solutions, if you take my advice you 'll have to replace Manila with somethig else.
For instance, you could use a classic today screen including in it the PDC (Pocket Display Clock, see on www.freewarepocketpc.net) and if you want a calendar with wider features than the standard ones you can install TodayAgenda, it's free and has lot of display options (it basically replaces both Calendar and Task plugins with a more compact and customizable one).
You see, this is a "static" solution, that is you haven't a dynamic plugin like Manila in which you can change tabs and views using you fingers, but a simplier classic plugin with a complete agenda tool..... I don't know what you 're looking, but if you have Manila and you are looking for something else, this will be good for you....... TodayAgenda is the best for me.
See you
I've seen some orange home screen for spv c550 or c600 mobile. It has two columns and it is very helpfull home screen solution.
Have you tried yet to install that kind of home screen layout.

just google L-Columns.v2.home.xml and i found that you need some orange.dll but i don't know where to put it.
This theme mentioned above has facade and fizz weather in one column.
also orange default theme in SPV smartphone models has nice solution but you cannot access with xml. When i open orange.home.xml there are only few lines. Some basic stuff as title, icon bar and organge plugin function in couple of lines.
If someone figures out how to successfully create columns in a CPR I will be ecstatic. I have tampered with the Columns="" and Rows="" parameters in the Titanium CPR so much, and still can't find a way to do it. For now, I dont actually think it is possible to have a two-column or two-row CPR Homescreen (at the moment). I do hope this gets some attention (and maybe a solution)!

I've found solution and it works.
As i said just download L-Columns.v2.home.xml and install JRulez_OHSP.cab because it saves orange.dll somewhere in the phone.
Now i have RJTime (analog) clock and date on the left side of my home screen and SMS/MMS/Mail on the right side.
I still dont get why every uploaded theme and every thread about home screen design in this Excalibur subforum is about C-home theme.
My personal opinion is that you can create most powerfull theme, most "business one" theme in classic way, creating good xml theme with couple of plugins and couple of programs as RightKey etc.
xmarkom - Can you please upload these files to this thread, or post direct links to them. i would be very interested in making a theme using this concept (and adding it to my CycloneSkins collection). I tried google, but I couldn't find anything relevant.
Thanks a bunch!
(By the Way the "CHome" layout is named because of the CHome panel which is the panel which tells you how many missed calls, SMS, MMS, and Voicemail you have. This panel is a significant part of the CHome layout in terms of efficiency. I believe that is why it is called the CHome layout, although in the 6.5 roms it is the Titanium Layout, and in 6.1 and below it is called Sliding Panels Layout)
any screnshots??

ok but i'm seek of this titanium layout and sliding panels layout because everybody talk about that, and thats all the same thing.
xml traditional home layouts should be better.
Wouldn't agree and if i personally wanted a old home screen i'd stick with WM6 to which is cumbersom looks like a dinosaur and not as tweakable as 6.1 or 6.5.
Can you please upload the files that peeps asked for as a google search with that criteria will get them no where...
please post link, i would like to have this
Hi, guys, i don't actually like the Sense (Leo) for several reasons but after all it is a high-end development so i believe it's better than the old manila. It seems we are obliged to have those shortcuts on the home tab which hide the background wallpaper and etc but the thing i hate most is that i dont have the history link/shortcut on it anymore, which for me is really useful. Is there a way to add as one of the quicklinks a history shortcut - I have the "contacts" already in use but I really need the call history menu Im using the final Rota's creation 3.5 and ill be really thankful if someone of you guy can help
So I create a shortcut link.
Create a shortcut key to \Windows\LaunchMSItem.exe w/ "CALLHISTORY_ALL_CALLS" parameters.
Hey Everyone, I have spent about 3 hours looking here and ppcgeeks to finda ROM that suites what I am looking for.
So i am hoping that some of you out there can help me narrow things down a bit.
my phone is a TMO Touch Pro 2 GSM, unlocked. i currently have a NRGZ ROM installed.
So what I want is to run SPB mobile Shell. I want to be able to use it's SMS messaging features. I want it as quick as possible. I don't need many frills or bloat stuff (though I do like some of the pre-installed stuff on the NRGZ ROM)
I prefer the old top bar with the down arrow (upper right), connection and notification icons up there. (Mind you if there is a way to remove that then I SPB has those same features as well.
Pretty basic, but I can't seem to determine what the best ROM for this would be.
Thanks
Bump.. Please people I am so confused!
I understand that SPB Shell and ROM are different, but tonight after another 1.5 hours on this forum, I am more confused than ever.
Can I change the the theme for SPB Shell and will that over ride all the ROM themes?
Is there a plain vanilla ROM or a ROM that has only the most popular items (total Commander, safeinbox etc?)
Any help would be appreciated. The forums are just overwhelming and my searches aren't helping this cause.
Thanks!
Maybe what I don't like is the touch flo/sense interface.
I don't like the scrolling slider on the footer, or the reading pane step for SMS and email.
Maybe this is why I am leaning towards SPB shell?
Any thoughts on whether this is a ROM issue or is there something I can do to remove the Touch Flo/Sense and the HTC preview pages etc?
Thanks
Rob
Most of the ROMs found here in the forums are WM 6.5 ROMs with HTC Sense cooked and turned on by default. You can disable the HTC Sense completely by going to:
Start > Settings > Home > Items, and remove the check from the "HTC Sense" item.
When you tap OK, HTC Sense will be turned off, and you'll get an empty today screen. Now, you can install SPB Mobile Shell and customize it to your liking.
HTC Sense and SPB Mobile Shell are totally independent from each other, you can have them both on your device and switch between them as necessary. Also, SPB themes will only affect SPBMS and will have no effect on the overall theme of your device.
If you really don't need HTC Sense at all, you could try the Energy ROM called "Titanium" as it comes with only the bare minimum components of Windows Mobile, and is probably the lightest ROM around.
Personally I'd recommend you choose a light ROM with Sense included so you could get back to it whenever you feel bored of SPBMS. Simplicity, Jackos, and NRG Reference ROMs are all suitable candidates for the job.
Hope I answered your questions.
Cheers, and good luck.
Thank you for your help!
I managed to find a the ROM Repository thread and ended up downloading and flashing 6 or 7 of them. I finally settled on an NRG rom, simply because it had the SWYPE input method.
No I have SPB Shell on it and I really like it - almost perfect
Now is there a way I can Change the top bar icons to something more intuitive (IMO)? I saw a thread with a bunch of different themes for these but was unclear on how to install them.
Also, I was wondering how I can change the hard keys functions? I want the HOME hard key to take me back to the today (SPB Shell) screen instead of the program list.
Any ideas on how to do these things?
Thanks for your help!
Rob
You're welcome, I'm glad you found what you were looking for.
And yes, you can change the top bar icons (aka taskbar icons). Just download the appropriate cab file from the thread, and install it on the device memory, and soft-reset.
The hard keys are hard to change, but not impossible. I heard about a program that changes the hardware keyboard mappings, but I'm not sure if it changes the hard keys on the device. Search for something called "keyboard remapper" or "keyboard config".
