I've just been looking at this (http://www.htcwiki.com/page/HTC+Artemis) and it says the Artemis has RS232 through a proprietary connector.
There's nothing on XDA-developers about this (yes, I searched the Artemis forums), and I can't find anything that looks like a concealed port, so I was wondering if this was correct but maybe not on my model or something.
This'd be really, really useful for interfacing the phone with other electronics so I'm really hoping that it's not just a typo on htcwiki!
Thanks for any help!
Something new like this, I would think there would be, but I haven't been able to find much info on it. Maybe a day 2 release?
I found an article that claims the HD2, a sort of predecessor to the EVO, has hardware support and a hacked together driver:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc...02-will-droid-usb-keyboard-hack-work-evo.html
*edit*
d'oh! I copied the wrong link!
http://www.htcphones.net/htc-hd2-supports-usb-host/
talks about the HD2
I see that lots of people looked, but no responses yet. Argh... Maybe I'll email HTC and see what they say... I think this feature, if there, got sidelined behind the processor, screen, and cameras. Oh, and that little 4G radio lol...
I just saw that Meego has been ported to the HTC Desire, Nexus One, and Dell Streak and was wondering if it would be possible to also get it on the EVO. Here is the website that I found it on.
http://www.downloadsquad.com/2010/09/27/install-meego-dell-streak-nexus-one-htc-desire/
id also be very interested in this, ive heard very good things said about the os on multiple sites such as engadget and have just heard overall its a cool os, would like to see it on the evo
I would also love a port of this.....here's hoping.
still no info on this? any devs willing to put in the time? id love to if i knew how lol
found this for the nexus one, hopefully it helps

Im interested in playing with this new Meego. Anybody else here seen this
http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/21/nokia-n9-first-hands-on/
That article is probably the reason there have been three bumps for this thread since it was published.
I've decided that I may have to abandon Android for that phone, regardless of Nokia's support for it (or lack thereof). The best part is that you aren't confined to either GSM or CDMA networks. The radio supports every possible frequency, as far as I can tell.
And anyone who complains about the hardware not being up to spec hasn't seen the hands-on videos. It looks so smooth. Plus, the N900 is still holding its own after 2 years.

I'm on sprint and I saw the radios, but I somehow doubt it could be activated on any US CDMA carrier. If it can though I think I'd give Meego and the N9 a shot
Hi All,
Just searching Youtube for WP7 vids posted today and I stumbled across this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RH1AvnhqMPc
I can't remember whether this handset was WM originally or if this was the Symbain one but it's an interesting video.
Is this new news, or have I found an old vid?

It depends, if this is the result of an actual port then this is news. We all know Microsoft has used the Samunsung Omnia HD as a prototype device to test WP7 on so if the video shows one of those devices, it isn't news.
The date of the vid says it's posted today so it would be weird that this is one of those prototype phones.
Good point about these being used a Microsoft prototypes. I'll assume that this is one of those rather than a port. I'm still at work, so I've only looked at teh vid without sound. There may be some sort of audio commentary on there, I won't know until I watch the vid at home.

No audio and I'm afraid it's one of those prototype devices cause it has a Windows button at the bottom.
well if someone finds a leak of that, it could be really cool!
Am I the only one noticing that the device has the 3 standard WP7 buttons?
Isn't that one of the early demo devices?

no you're not, fact is: if that's really a omnia HD with just different buttons, a leak of that could be used on an actual omnia HD, making it a great device even if with symbian is a ****ty one
Moving to General. PLEASE stop posting things that don't contribute to the development of WP7.
Thanks,

Well maybe this means that wp7 can be ported to similar devices.
Also, the i8910 is supposed to have a 360x640 display, which would make porting much harder. Even if they would get the OS working (I still think it something fishy about that video), the Apps would probably not scale properly to the new resolution.
Does anyone know if theres any work getting windows mobile 6.5 onto the new LG WP7 device? I personally cannot stand the new windows mobile solution. Granted it is very fast and has some nifty features, but it screams iPhone to me. Microsoft took its new mobile platform and built it to go head to head with the iphone functionality and Ui, but like the iphone its too locked down for me. I was hoping that there might be a group of individuals that are working to get windows mobile 6.5 onto these new devices. I would love to have all the functionality and freedom 6.5 gives me on hella speedier hardware that is Windows Phone 7. I will say though that the LG;s slide out keyboard feels clunky. The function key is in a horrible spot too.
Sorry bout the rant and getting off topic. Its the last few weeks of the semester and all of my instructors are sadistic in having a whole boatload of essays due at the same time.l Again, sorry bout the /rant.
Please Please Please get wm6.5 to run on the LG Optimus. Please!
Or....you could have bought the HD2
I could have, but I need a physical keyboard. Thats a non negotiable feature.
I have no idea... the answer is probably no, but it sounds like a cool, fun thing Kind of reminds me of trying to run DR. DOS 6 on my brand new, shiny 486DX. And memory extenders to load drivers into the area bove 640k.
Why you ask? IIRC, it was because I wanted to finish some ancient game on 5.25" floppies. Maybe Roger Wilco (SpaceQuest by Sierra) or Hero's Quest.
has it been possible to get any OS on the root of another device???
I'm guessing probably not.
there are still some tp2's floating around and I here they've been overclocked.
There is an LG Fathom that is snapdragon powered with WM6.5.3 and a keyboard, smallish 3.2" screen though, but is at least WVGA res.

Just FYI
YOu should buy an android phone

Hahahhahahaaaa.
Get a Touch Pro 2.
There's the LG GW820 on AT&T.
Soo... Been a while. Can someone list the requirements? Can drivers from devices such as the fathom be used if we can install the OS somehow? Where do we stand on that issue?

i knew it wasnt possible when i purchased my device. I was looking for further development information, and whether someone with more experience with the devices could tell me if there were any major differences between the hardware of the fathom and the lg wp7 phones. are you informatively telling me there are no similarities and this will never be possible, or are you flaming?
Not Possible, closed.
