Hello,
I have an TyTNII and I like it but now I´m able to buy a new phone.
If i´m right the one difference between Diamond II and Pro II is the keybord ?!
I think the most positive aspect on the Diamond II/Pro II is the bigger display than the TyTNII has but I´m affraid to see my fingersprints on the display of the Pro II .
I dont know if there is a stylus like the TyTN II has.
So I´m not sure to buy the ProII or stay with my TyTN II , need help
Stylus yes
I Love my TP 2
Here we go again!
Comming to a Nike store and asking if Nike is better than Converse?
What in the name of God will be the answer!!
Same apply here
By the way: I would go for TP2
Quick answer, if you HAVE to have a keyboard=TP2.. otherwise Diamond 2..
I upgraded my Kasier, and got both (part of the job to roll them out) - and for once have wondered : "do I really need a keyboard"

There used to be other difference, like microSD expansion, Ram size, but thats not the case anymore.
So hardware keyboard vs slimmer lighter device
don't forget the difference in camera 5MP vs. 3.2MP and the speakerphone/noise cancellation function of the TP2
and should you wish to go CDMA there's the chance of a 3.5mm earphone jack
the rest is minute (slightly different ROM, .4 inches in screen size, etc.)
TP2 is awesome!
- This site can be shown fully in landscape mode and the text is still readable.
- Youtube is great and can be controlled by keyboard.
- Use keyboard to copy/paste when sw-kb cannot.
- Never got used to turning speakerphone on on the Kaiser. This one I just turn around and speaker is on. And with excelent sound. Yeah.
- Forget about pixels. NO phone can take advantage of the higher resolutions. 5MPix. is more than the small lens can handle.
Only thing Im missing is the old bluetooth stack, but that will hopefully be fixed once 'we' learn the secrets of the new stack.
Well... I could use the good old Kaiser-DPad, but... Can't have it all.

Hi guys,
I am in two minds as to what my next purchase should be. I like the new HTC Polaris and it is what I know, as I currentlt have an Artemis. However the screen resolution is low, not VGA 640x480 which I would like in my next PDA.
I have noticed a few devices which are made by E-Ten that seeem to do all that the artemis does - but they do have a vga screen such as the x800 and x500 models.
Has anyone tried one of the models and would they recommend them? Also do they have a lively developer/modding scene like the Artemis?
Thanks - underzone
eten is very good pda phone, more fast than HTC, but their production will discontinue.
The ETEN looks like a good phone but there's more support for HTC phones. And now that I have a touchflo ROM, I don't know how I could go back to not having touchflo.
I have used 3 mode Eten PDA.And for me HTC better because can mod Rom for your PDA
Polaris for me look very cool, use chip QualComm 7200 (fast) Touch Flo 2.....and...
===> Polaris +1
I had the same dilema, I have an artemis wich I love, but I have it for a year already and HTC is not putting out anythig much better for me to upgrade (and it does not look like they are planning on launching any good vga device soon) so I ordered the Eten X800, it is supposed to get here tomorrow, I'll compare them and will let you know what I think.
P.S. The only thing that stops me from leaving HTC is this site, there is no such a thing for any other brand out there. And I'm hooked.

Yeah its this forum & the excellent brewed roms that really makes me want to stick with an HTC... but then again I do really want a VGA screen. decisions, decisions...
How about the new P5500 - slimmed down artemis with touch interface, keyapd, gps, HSDPA etc...
http://www.unwiredview.com/2007/08/08/htc-5500-nike-touch-slider/
Thinking about Asus, doubts are the processor and the screen size but like the size slightly smaller than the orbit, but little in it, I do miss a keypad.
http://www.devicewire.co.uk/Asus-P526
I got the x800 today, and it is a good pda but I don't think you can compare it to the artemis, the screen is nicer and having 3g it's a whole different browsing expierence, but apart from that it is a bit slow and the design is not as nearly as nice. It's not a bad pda, if it was my only pda I would gladly keep it, but choosing between this and the artemis, I would for sure keep my artemis until I'll find something else. (Maybe I'll try the gigabyte Gsmart i350, if I can get hold of it in america)
Previously got an Eten G500, nothing to do with X500 neither X800.
But i really, really prefer the artemis !
G500 was big, heavy, rom was unstable, and materials used was bad quality and many plastics cracks, painting surface goes away,...
Now i'm really happy to have sold it...
Polaris ===> +1

For me it has to be either Polaris or iMate 9502 - 9502 has VGA, same memory as Polaris (eten is short) and still has all the hardware buttons dropped on the Polaris...
I want to buy Tytn Or Tytn II ??
Which is better about performance & all ???
they are nearly the same uni just that the TyTN II have the ablity to tilt the screen when it is fully silde out.
Both uni have 400Mhz processor.
TyTN II have more RAM & ROM
I have seen report that TyTN II is getting lower bench mark socre due to the driver on the uni isn't function as they should.
try look up on http://www.gsmarena.com/
and on the tilt there is no flash for the camera and the tilt is still a bit buggy where as the 8525 has been pretty well figured out.
you guys forgot the most important feature. the tytn ii has a built-in gps
Since this is a Hermes thread...GO TYTN...many more customized ROMS!
I thought the tytn II was meant to have part of the processor deicated to the phone operation, rather than sharing the 400 for both? Kind of likedual core?
the tytn ii has a arm9 processor at 270mhz or something like that to handle communications, while the arm11 at 400mhz does the pda stuff
So am I correct in my understanding that the TyTN lack the second arm processor? ie it shares the 400mhz (or416 in some spec sheets) for both data and cmmunicaton processing?
TytnII does have a dedicated processor, and indeed the processor is faster having used both devices.
if you can get both the Tytn and TytnII for the same price then i would go for the TytnII simply because it'll be around for a lot longer than the tytn is and also there will be more and more roms being built for it if you look in the kaiser forums

did you read the thread until the end?? dont have read the whole thing, just read the very last post
truth hurts
I love my Tytn, don't get me wrong. I'm only eying an elf just because it's so damn small, and has double the memory....
Truth is, get the Tytn2 unless it's a big $ difference:
1- Second camera isn't a big deal- most people can't use it in NA anyway.
2- the main camera is 3MP with autofocus
3- it has GPS on-board, which is handier than a bluetooth unit, but not the biggest deal.
4- it has the 3G that the Tytn has, which is nice to have, a LOT faster than just edge...
5- most reviewers have stated it has "a more solid feel" to the unit, which is a complaint I have about my Tytn...
6- first and foremost: double the RAM/ROM. To me, this is a huge deal. I have a 6gb card, so storage isn't the issue, but if programs are stored on the machine, they're faster, and the added RAM means you can run just about anything you want.
Will I trade up to a Tytn2? not for 600-800 bucks.... Would I do it for 200-300? YEP.
I have both.
Only one choice -Tytn2
1. good performance (even without video drivers...)
2. memory more than enough
3. good working sirfIII gps -IGO and Tom Tom 20 sec aquis.
4. good battery vs Tytn
5. good looking PDA Phone- slim enough , perfect slide
6. main camera 3,2Mpixels with autofocus
Dude u totally stole my avatar!!!!! WTF
hermes is better
well friends, I already had a hermes, now I have a kaiser, and I can say hermes is so faster... Qualcomm cpus is the problem... I wanna back to hermes... I ll sell my kaiser and buy another hermes
I think htc wont give a decent video driver to kaiser,,, I saw htc sedna benchs, and the qualcomm score is still bad,,
the problem is qualcomm and not HTC....
friends dont buy any device with qualcomm cpu!!!!!

I guess I could say the same....
well, I ain't changing, and I can live with imitation.
I also found the Hermes to be faster. Even though there was more on board memory the tytn2 was slower than the hermes with the same apps open even though it reported to have lots of free memory. Sounds good on paper but not good in practice.
The tytn2 keyboard was sticky and slow to type on as you have to go back and press keys again and wait for the device to catch up with you and remember that you have to be left handed and like using the stylus with your left hand to like using the tytn2 because when the screen is open the stylus and front keys are on the left as opposed to the Hermes which on the right.
Also the tytn2 is buggy and the 3 of them that I had all soft reset themselves intermittently. Tytn2 was a big dissapointment. Im just lucky that I got my money back when they couldnt find me one that worked properly.
Hermes is a much better device.
tytn2 is slow like hermes before tweaking or cooked roms . I never soft reset tytn2 even in navigation + answer calls .

Hi there,
I´m an old time kaiser user, and Im currently planning to replace it with a Touch Pro or Touch Pro 2.
Basically, I have found out that both phones are "the same"... is that right ? Are there any important differences between the TP and the TP2 ?
Im looking for a sturdy phone. The kaiser is well and alive after almost 2 years using it, but... I think that if the rhodium is all out silver plastic, I think it is more susceptible to scratching and such...
Oh well... any opinions would be helpful.
Tia
I just bought my touch pro2 last week and have been overjoyed with it, save for a couple of issues regarding battery life. You can check these out in the 'got mine' thread in this subforum.
To better compare these two, head on to youtube and check out the touch pro VS touch pro2 video from pocketnowvideo. to summarise some of the differences -
1. touch pro2 has a bigger screen, 3.6 inches
2. tp2 has a higher resolution, 480 x 800, tp is 480 x 640.
3. improved TouchFLO 3D interface, it's almost perfect now.
there are other differences, so i suggest you check out the youtube video, or head on to www.pocketnow.com and check out their review of the TP2.

If $ is not a problem I would go for TP2 definetly.
It´s a fact that technology is making devices everyday more easyly replaceble...
OMG OMG OMG!!! I couldn´t wait!!! I just bought it!!!
Really really anxious!!!!
Good Move! Let us know how U like the new toy...
I have all mentioned devices and Rhodium is really the best!
Rhodium for sure
still own a Raphael but the Rhodium owns his little brother
far more intergrated menu's, landscape touch flo and so on!
even has a own BT app or so to set up bluetooth
i'm very very glad I bought the phone
Just received the tracking number... aaaaaaaarhhh!!!!!!
As per this link the Touch Pro 2 processor is worse than Touch Pro processor.
http://www.pestaola.gr/how-advanced-are-htc-touch-pro2-and-htc-touch-diamond2/
Processor used in Touch Pro2 was released in 2007 90nm (Qualcomm® MSM7200A™, 528 MHz)
Processor used in Touch Pro was released in 2008 65nm (Qualcomm® MSM7201A™ 528 MHz)

http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=cpu&id=a7201&c=qualcomm_msm7201
Not sure why an old processor was used in TP2
I still vote for TP2 .
I was about to post "oh that´s so stupid!" but then I realize.... that in fact it is a smart move from HTC, as stated on the site. They´ll prolly make more money.
Well... at least they´ll have mine...
Got it!
It is so sexyeh!!!! But batt life sux... well, let´s see how it will behave on a normal work day.
Hello all -
I would like to know your option about the Touch Pro 2. Actually I've a Diamond and I really like it, but I'll replace it by Touch Pro 2.
What do you think about it? Is a good change? Have you did it before?
Thank you.
I went from the Diamond to the Touch Pro2. No regrets. The screensize, hardware keyboard, and performance destroys the Diamond.
But at this moment, you really have to consider the HD2. Also, with Windows Mobile 7 right around the corner, should people even still buy Windows Phones right now?
Tks ohyeahar!
When the WM7 will be ready? Will be possible to use the WM7 on the TP2.
I'll take a look the HD2.
Just another quick question:
How about the baterie performance using 3G all time?
Tks.
Go for Rhodium definitely! it´s a great device!
Of course if you are looking for a hardware keyboard upgrade, if not better to go for Diamond 2...
Orb, I'm not even sure the Diamond II is a good option... My dad has got one while I have the Rhodium. I upgraded from the original Diamond, & as someone already mentionned it, both the Diamond II & TP II blow the Diamond away.
Now, having played with the HD2 already, and being impressed by its speed, I would recommend that on too. But only if you got a pocket large enough for tht 4.3' screen, and if no keyboard suites you well.
If you want a keyboard, TP II, hands down. Hell, I wouldn't hesitate bying it full price again if god forbid, it was stolen. If you don't want a keyboard, HD2. Don't even bother with the Diamond II.

Battery performance is better than the Diamond. It's probably on bar with the official extended battery of the Diamond.
Greetings,
As the title says,
Some of the main Advantages of OmniaPro are 800Mhz CPU, AMOLED display, 5MB Camera (With Flash), 3.5mm audio jack
Some Disadvantages are it has 3.5" Screen (Rhodium has 3.6"), 4 rows QWERTY Keyboard (Rhodium has 5 rows).
TouchWiz (OmniaPro) or TouchFlo/Sense (Rhodium), .. not sure which is better
Price (in UK pounds):
OmniaPro: £291.49 exc VAT
Rhodium: £379.48 exc VAT (Why is it more expensive while specs are clearly less?)
in terms of Hardware specs, .. i dont think someone could argue that Rhodium is better than OmniaPro.
I want your opinions on:
- Which one is better? and why?
- Why do you think that OmniaPro is a lot cheaper than Rhodium although it obviously packs better specs?
touchwiz = blah(imo)...
htc=greatest smartphone company(imo)...
Processor speed isn't all of it, flash on a camera is useless, tp2 has 3.5mm audiojack on some models... Only true advantage of the omniapro is the amoled screen.
tp2 can also utilize the new 7.2mbps networking which omniapro cant.
Again...

Rhodium is superior in many apspects, also you have the plus of the support from XDA!
I´ll stay with HTC

If the keyboard really is important, get the Rhodium. It is not only the 5 rows, it is the keyshape and spacing. For multimedia the Omnia pro should be better. I also saw some reports that the screen of the Omnia Pro is extremely soft and even a fingernail can scratch it. So you would need some really good protection. Sense is a much better interface, but I am sure it could be ported.

Hmm thanks for the input, yeah the layout of the keys in Rhodium seems a lot more type-friendly. and from videos, .. Oddly, the screen of Rhodium does seem crispier than the AMOLED of OmniaPro
and what do you guys think about the price difference? price/specs ratio of OmniaPro seems interesting compared to the Rhodium.
and why isnt there a section for Samsung windows mobiles here in the forums? i mean XDA is not for HTC only right? Sony Ericsson is there, why not Samsung?
lots of questions
i'll answer the Sony Ericsson for u Irkan, i use to have one right before the bloody keyboard gave up on me
The Xperia was a collaboration between Htc and SE. Basically Htc made the device. Hell, it even have the Htc quickgps and task manager on it. Even the hardSPL is the same as HTC. We could safely say that the Xperia X1 is still a "brother" to all the htc device.
As for the site, yes XDA only supported htc devices, even X2 isn't gonna be here. Thats why i chose the rhodium
I am less Impressed ...
Ok, .. i see .. thanx for the input, that makes sense now
I have read 2 major reviews about the OmniaPro, .. although the hardware specs are hardcore, .. the TouchWiz (Widgets UI) seems to be sluggish regardless of the hardware sepcs.
in terms of the UI performance the Sense seems to be way better than the Widgets UI. If 800Mhz Processor is not enough for there UI than what is the use of it? .. i was expecting that with the processor power i would enjoy the TouchWiz UI smoothly and that the menus will be flying around, ... unfortunately from reading the 2 major reviews, .. that is not the case
The reviews also reported that the keyboard does not register the key press smoothly when typing fast, and you have to be careful and firm when typing .. kindda ruins the purpose of having full QWERTY keyboard.
The camera is said to be mediocre, .. the colours are a little dull, but sharp.
Lets just say that i am less impressed by the OmniaPro than when i started this thread ..
to me the main advantage of the rhodium is that the screen TILTS!!!

You can probably turn the TouchWiz UI off if it is really that sluggish. You might even be able to get Sense on it. Keep that in mind.

I can turn it off, .. and will be stuck to WM screen ... that kindda ruins the purpose of buying it in the first place.
I like TouchWiz (the idea of it) but lots of reports shows that many times it tends to lag alot, i even saw some videos on how bad it was (and it was bad)
I have seen TouchFlo 1.6 (or some previous version) being ported to the OmniaPro, reports shows that it drains lots of battery power, and the experience is not smooth at all, and when i went to check the forum that made that port, they stopped supporting Sense porting to OmniaPro B7610 (the one that has the keyboard which is similar to Rhodium) and only continued with the full touch screens (they are trying to port everything in HD2 to Omnia2 or something, so they couldnt care less about OmniaPro with the keyboard)
I asked the same question in some forum that reviewed the the OmniaPro B7610
and here is a reply for my inquiry from one of the users that have the OmniaPro
I would go for the HTC touch pro2. I bought the Samsung Omnia Pro B7610 and it’s the worst windows mobile phone I’ve ever had, slower than my old HTC P3300 and my imate Ultimate 9502. TouchWiz is very slow! You have to switch it off. The screen is very fragile, it’s easily scratched by the stylus. The in call sound is not that loud, the keyboard is ok but not excellent, etc.
