"delete mail from server" - Is it possible from XDA?

I've set the XDA to send/receive via outlook however, I cant find a setting to delete mail from server therefore when I then download from the PC I have to delete a load of mail that I've already read.
Is there a setting on the PDA to resolve this, or any other solution???
Rob.
Make sure you are using POP3 then when you delete the emails from the Inbox on your 3300, and then empty Deleted Items the next time you sync the mails will automatically be removed from the server too.
As for flagging that copies shouldn't be left on the server after a fetch I imagine there is a registry hack but no setting in the email application that I can see.

Dymond and Gmail via outlook

Hi guys please can somone help me ? I am downloading my mail via outlook on my TyTN via gmail. I get the messages but then a couple of minutes later or maybe after I reconnect, the messages diasappear. almost like they are only there per session and then get deleted. how can I keep them there indefinitely? I have read that people have been experiencing these problems with Outlook mobile since 2006 but cannot find a solution. I do not think this is a gmail prob as on my desktop it works fine. please can you help? thanks
I have enabled Outlook on my Dymond o/s to download full messages from 3 days, not just headers.
simplist solution is to use an exchange server and forward your gmail account to that account and use a http alias on the server account. google this site for free exchange 2007 account. there is a guy named denial he is a great guy.
Thanks will try it. I appreciate your help. seems that every time it syncs with Gmail, the messages disappear. I cannot believe that I am the only one on this forum with this problem??

Outlook help (can't send from outlook box)

I can send from my Sprint TP2 mail "link" acct I created both on network or wifi but If I use the 'outlook' account (now that I think about it-i think it was auto created by activesync) to send or most specifically-reply to an email , it just waits in the outbox unless i manually run activesync... I want the emails to be sent when I'm NOT on my pc! So, I can send, but only from the "link" account. Ideas? Thanks in adv.
The "Outlook" account on your device will only fully function if you set it to sync with an Exchange Server. Otherwise, it will do what you just described. If you don't have an Exchange account, don't set your Activesync to sync your mails.
Alllrighty then. Hmmm, can a guy create a dummy acct? Perhaps my hosting co./mail server co offers a solution. how does one go about getting said account? Theme looks cool, i'll try it. Thanks for the tip.
Gmail has recently supported syncing via Exchange. Personally, I signed up for a free exchange account at win.alol.net.br
There are others of course if you have a search.

Mail app problems after update

After updating to HTC froyo my mail app now deletes all previous messages in inbox when refreshing!! Anyone else had this problem??
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I was just looking for the same answer as you...flipping annoying as now it seems to purge my emails on my desire after the update once i've downloaded them on my home PC in Outlook. Never did this before the update and i've checked in the phone email settings how long to keep the mails in the inbox (set to 7 days at the mo) but it makes no difference. At least on WinMo you have a folder called outlook mail that keep them for a defined period.
I hope this can be fixed as i'm starting to not like the Android OS at all after being a WinMo user from day one.
It's just the simple things that let this OS down i think.
I have this prblem too.....any known fix???
You can try this.
"I was having the same issue, but have resolved it by changing my account settings from POP3 to IMAP."
Didn't work for me but who knows.
Experiencing the same here, after froyo update messages from my pop3 account seems to purge when deleted from server.
Needs a fix
Crap. I have the exact same problem. As soon as you download to your pc from the server the emails are gone. No solution yet? There is a workaround you can go to your native client (outlook) go to advanced setting and check "leave emails on server". Until this is fixed this is all we can do.
Here is a brief tutorial for Outlook 2003:
Under the Delivery section of the Advanced tab, Outlook 2003 lets you define how to handle downloaded and old emails on the mail server.
By default, Outlook 2003 downloads your emails from the server, and in effect deletes them from the server after successful downloads. Without needing access to the mail server itself, you can customize Outlook's email deletion behavior. Outlook 2003 gives you thee options.
Checking the Leave a copy of messages on the server checkbox instructs Outlook 2003 to leave a copy of your emails on the server indefinitely. You or your System Administrator will then need to delete the emails from the mail server itself.
Complementary options can refine how long, and under what conditions Outlook 2003 should leave a copy of your emails on the mail server; I have mine set to 30 days.
I have another workaround.
I forward emails to myself and the emails get stored in my SENT folder. Irritating, I know, but at least I have a copy of it on my phone.
same problem here
same problem here, sucks!!
Hope the fix it soon
Sorted problem on mine it was problem with server. I am on ntlworld.com and have to put "recent:" in front of username and now all ok.(not quotes)

Went over to Modaco and installed a completely stock based rooted ROM. Still doing the exact same thing.

I have an email imap setting for my provider

Please! Can any one help me out here?
I have a HTC Touch Pro 2 mobile
I have an email imap setting for my provider.
It downloads email from my provider’s server for reading.
When I delete email from the device’s inbox it also deletes mail
from the servers inbox folder.
I only want to delete emails from the Touch Pro to stop them
being visible on the mobile device.
I want to be able to delete server emails from my home computer
or by my email providers internet web site only. Which I can do.
How can I set these features up.
On my old HTC P6500 WM6.1 this what I had working.
