As some of you know, I am currently working on a touch user interface (since more than 10 months), fully compatible with HTC Diamond, it even takes advantage of G-sensor and touch-sensitive control pad, and I plan to develop a 3D user interface in a future version.
I will prepare soon a private beta, and if there is no major issue I would like to release a first public version in about 2 weeks. But please don’t take too much into consideration this date, be aware that contrary to other ROM cookers who only take programs from other ROMs I have developed the whole user interface from scratch, so it’s a really huge work (more than 1000 hours at the moment) and it’s hard to fix a release date.
As for other devices, Diamond ROMs will be multilingual and available in two versions: Full (with TouchXperience User Interface) and Lite (maximal storage space).
I am looking for some motivated and experienced people to participate to this private beta. I need only about 20 people so I will choose first people who could really help me, better is if you have WM cooking or development knowledges. I don’t want to get thousands of messages asking “please please send me the ROM” like it was in the other threads, so please don’t ask me to participate if you don’t have solid arguments. If you are interested, let me a post here (explaining in what you are good, if I don’t know you) and I will contact you later by PM if you are selected.
More info about TouchXperience User Interface and video demos:

TouchXperience is the Next Generation User Interface for Windows Mobile, finger friendly and highly customizable, it offers many interesting features: program launcher, contacts manager, home screen, appointments, messaging, task manager, profile and event manager, call log, control panel, communication manager,...
TouchMenu is probably the most powerful and customizable menu, replacing original Start Menu for an innovative touch interface. TouchMenu supports finger scrolling and gestures, for example you can switch from a menu to another by sliding your finger left/right, or display context menu by a long press on the screen. You can also scroll menus using G-sensor. Each menu has four different views (large list, small list, large grid, small grid). As the rest of the future user interface, TouchMenu has a nice Vista/WM7 look.
TouchMenu has various built-in menus :
- All Programs (Start Menu replacement)
- Active Programs (Task Manager)
- Recent programs
- Favorite programs
- Settings (Control Panel)
- Documents
- Favorite websites
- Contacts
- Messaging
- Appointments
- Tasks
- Calls (Call Log)
- Communications (Comm. Manager)
- RSS feeds
- Power Actions
- End Actions
- One Touch Settings
But you can do much more by creating your own custom menus where you can add contacts, program shortcuts, website links, system actions (for example: reset device, rotate screen, sound profile, clock, brightness backlight, WMP status,...) or links to other menus. You can also replace icon for each program/folder/contacts/menu with a custom image.
TouchHome is a fully customizable screen where you can add various widgets and graphical elements (clocks, indicators, today items, texts, images,...). By default, TouchHome displays when you turn your phone on. You can make your own graphics and layout using XML. TouchHome can be also used as screen unlocker (unlock screen by sliding finger, by double tapping, by shaking device, using navigation scroll wheel,...).
Use GPS or cell-based geo-positioning to determine current location and create profiles for each location.
Custom Events is a powerful application which execute predefined actions when custom events occur. The principle is simple, each custom event is defined by:
- A basic event (application changed, location changed, new message, new incoming call, battery charging, device cradled, headset connected, Wi-Fi network detected, internet connection detected, ,...)
- Eventually some conditions (date/time, current application, current location, specific words in message, caller identity,...)
- An action (launch application, display notification, enable flight mode, turn on Wi-Fi, change profile, send message, ,...)
There will be hundreds of events and actions, so possibilities are very large! Here are some examples:
- Enable flight mode during nights
- Connect to Wi-Fi while battery is charging
- Deactivate alarm when I turn my device face down
- Put phone in silent mode at workplace
- Remind me to buy bread when I’m near to the bakery
Supports finger gestures on touch-sensitive control pad (experimental, for HTC Touch Diamond/Touch Pro only) to execute different system actions, in this way you can have up to 8 “virtual buttons” on your device.
Supports display auto-rotation navigation using G-sensor (experimental, for HTC Touch Diamond/Touch Pro only).
TouchXperience User Interface is designed for a future usage of hardware accelerated 3D graphics for an outstanding experience!

i would be glad to help
Sounds really really nice.
If I can be of any help I'll be glad to, comes from Hermes and Kaiser and now has Diamond.
Tried some of your roms before and liked some, but not all, but this seems really exciting.

I can Help
Hello mate,
I have cooked (mostly my own) ROMs for Elf, Niki and Cruise so I have considerable background on the components of the WM OS and the overall structure of the devices (not so much the Diamond to be honest as I'm still trying to get to understand its internals).
If you like, I would more than willing to help out with Beta testing whether it's to focus on a specific area or just overall testing. I also have experience in QA so I can pick out little things that need ironing out
Cheers from Dubai!
WOAH! Schaps, this sounds awesome. I'd be happy to beta test your TouchXperience UI. Coming from an iPhone background, I'd love to see more thumb/finger friendliness in our Diamonds.
EDIT: Checked out the site and the screenshots and it looks fab so far !
Couple of questions, would there be a new finger/thumb friendly Calendar app? (I totally despise the stock WM one) Also, do you plan on integrating a more thumb friendly keyboard for input? The standard Diamond one is okay but I tend to be a fast typer and because the screen on the Diamond is relatively small, it is prone to keystroke errors and the Diamond keyboard does not have any type of correction method (i.e. as included with the PCM Keyboard - I use this but a lack of VGA skins is highly disappointing).
All in all I can't wait to test this - I thought the Diamond would have been more thumb/finger friendly but tend to find myself pulling out the dreaded stylus now and then.. Something I hoped I could have gotten away from. Cheers for the great effort Schaps!
WOW
Love to test the new interface.
Moral Support!!
Schap,
im not a pro in any of these programming. But at least i can sent some moral supports!!
It's a great development All the best to you
Very nice ...I will pleasure, when i test this program...

P.S.: I will soon work on a new Advanced Config. version fully compatible with Touch Diamond and Touch Pro. Advanced Configuration Tool V3 will come with a new finger-friendly interface.

@ Schaps, could you look into the possibility to add "default mediaplayer chooption" in order to link Bluetooth devices to other players not forcing to use WMP linked with TF3D .
There is a cab out there from RuffRuff (still need to test it) , but including this possible solution in AdvConfig V3 would be a big added value.
As for the Beta testing , it starts to look like recruting for La Legion etrangere (The Foreign Legion)
People want but how many can give ?
Anyway, success with the new UI + Rom combination. Looking forward.
Hi Guys
Well I've stuck SPB MS 3 on my device and I have to say that it's quite nice to configure and I especially like the wide background with scrolling....
One thing I'd like to know is if any other Widgets will come out from modders/devs or whether we have to be happy with our lot in terms of stock Widgets.
Aldso, to address the battery drain issue....I have a strong feeling that this is related to anothe3r piece of software....as I have had SPB MS3 on my Touch HD (Stock ROM) for the last couple of hours, received a couple of calls and some MMS messages (with constant data connection live) and I am only on 95%.
Comments on either points welcome?

Please, you have posted this almost word for word in every damn thread on the site that mentions SPBMS3, often more than once.
You are entitled to your opinion and what you say may even be entirely valid, but for the love of pete, STOP! We get it, thanks.
And not only in xda !!!
But he's got a point though..!!
OK - he has a point but he's destroying the merit of that point by being a bit of a fool....anyway, do we know if it's going to be easy to create widgets ourselves?
That was really the reason for my post
is mobile shell 3 out already then????
SPB Mobile Shell 3
Hi Guy's
I have taken a look over at Infosyncworld and watched this video http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/9030.html it reminds me a little of the SPB mobile shell 3's carousel.
Comments from page above: "Pros: Brilliant interface, among the best we've seen for a mobile phone. Smooth animation, great colors, sparkling effects".
Cons: "Nobody is building this into a phone . . . yet."
No correlation but striking nonetheless.
I've just posted my thoughts over on the SPB forum,
it is good...but there are also a few things that aren't
1) I do like the ability to change widgets, size of widgets etc, but I'm missing the battery indicator on the professional now screen
2) The call log has already been mentioned, but it's certainly not the best so I wont go there again
3) The now screen calendar, I can only get 1 week to display on either of the now screens. That means that today (sunday), I can't see anything for next week. Also, as pointed out for MS2, the bold to indicate a day with appointment still isn't clear enough..another colour would have been better
4) The phone doesn't automatically return to the Now screen when turned off. it returns to the last screen you were looking at
5) the option to change to two softkeys on the today screen (Touch HD) has gone. On MS2 these defaulted to SBP menu and Calendar I think. I changed mine to SPB menu and Now. The SBP menu still works, but the now gives an error that the "nowscreen file cannot be opened"...and no way to change this
6) I still use my today screen because of the PhoneAlarm plug in. MS3 takes two clicks to get to the today screen, MS2 required only one.
7) the facebook integration only works for contacts in your favourites list
8) the ability to email a contact has been added though, which had been requested so that's a good thing
so..to sum up....I'm undecided on whether to upgrade when the full version is released, or go back to MS2

This is not a problem for me when I'm running MS3. The notifications appear as they should. I've read some people are having issues with the CAB install (although I haven't had any issues with it), have you tried the .exe install?

It was posted in this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505365
Read through the thread to find some useful tips with customizing as well!
i have installed both the exe and the cab version. same problem. on startup notifications works, but after i been in startmenu or a other menu the notifications fail to come in notifications of ms3
life style background
i have found that if you use a ratio of 1.6 to 1 shows the background image the best. the size does not seem to matter as long as it has this ratio.
edit: sorry I posted this in the wront thread, I ment to post it in the diamond themes, applications and software as this ratio is for vga. again sorry for the mistake.
decided after some testing to go back to TF3D - I dislike the use of WM to preview the texts and emails - TF3D has a better mechanism for me in that respect...nice UI though.

Here too...
After trying the SPB 3.0 shell i decided to buy it. I love the way it is customized and the diferent views it provides, but yes i concurr the sms and mail preview of the TouchFlo 3D is way better.
Power off and softreset button from pocketplus?(icon)
does anybody know how to get the shortcuts power-off and the green reset icon function from pocketplus4 into Mobile shell3?
i am so used to switch off by tapping that icon on my homescreen,
but i cant find it in ms3.
OR do you have a better solution for tapping off my HD?
thanx bros.

Today Customize the appearance and the information to be displayed on the Home screen.
Is there a smart search option on this phone?
I just think there is a potential to do a lot more with the keyboard. Some sort of smart search (ala Palm Pre) would be great. From standby, just slide out the keyboard and start typing and list out the possibilities. Maybe start typing a name and any matches start popping up with options to directly call, text or email. Or a URL to go directly to a website, or save in notes (sometimes you see a website address you wanna check out later). Of course, there would be google/wikipedia search options too.
There should also be shortcuts with the keyboard too. Anyway to link certain keys (or combos) to launch apps (e.g. straight into SMS mode) or certain settings (e.g. bluetooth on/off)?
Another idea I think could be useful is integrating a facebook or twitter tab into TouchFlo3D directly. Is this possible?
Delete.
One's man burden is another man's blessing!
Most folks seem to hate the threaded SMS which you like, for reasons including that you get such a tiny little area to see what you've typed, plus you don't have the option of adding other recipients.
I'm not trying to get into a debate about it .. just hoping to point out that there is more than one solution to your problem of "dual texting crap": I haven't seen any tweaks to embrace the nice new interface, but here is one for killing it and sticking with the tried and tested 30 year old way ..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=373681
BTW .. a bonus is that once you have applied this, you can easily change your mind later and simply go and toggle the value between 0 and 1 without rebooting the device
Hope this helps
I have to agree with vin5cent0, I bl**dy hate the WM SMS reply interface. It's _so_ ugly. I don't care for threaded SMS's though.
Maybe you'd like Vito SMS-Chat, vin5cent0?
I prefer the TF3d threaded interface over the windows mobile interface as well. However it only appears accessable by replying to a message on the messaging tab in TF3d. Any new message or other way of replying to a message brings up the older WM interface. I would like be able to use the TF3d threaded interface for all the ways you can send a text.
This is the first i've seen someone wanting to actually embrace the TF3d message interface. It's woefully inferior to the WM one for the following reasons:
1.) Lack of character counter for sending message
2.) No support for signatures
3.) Phone numbers aren't clickable
4.) URL's aren't clickable
5.) Stupid Soft Key for Sent isn't the same as WM messaging program and is back (without confirmation) instead of send resulting in lost messages
6.) Reply to: screen / threaded view TERRIBLY SLOW when you have a lot of messages - we're talking 10 seconds pauses sometimes when pulling it up or replying (I imported all my SMS from my old phone so I have 9k text messages currently...)
I'll take functionally over "prettiness" any day. If they can fix these issues, I'd use it again I suppose. For now I'm using the "zoom sms" hack to disable the TF3d reply to interface and it goes to the WM instead.
What is the easiest way for my kids to be able to use the SMS app without openning the keyboard, and by using the onscreen keyboard in landscape, like an iphone, kinda.
We are all on the NRG roms, 21xxx with HTC Messaging Client installed.
I added the "all messages" page into g-config but it does not rotate in any of the SMS chats. My guess is that i have to add every SMS page to g-config?
There has to be an easier way to get any SMS/MMS to open in landscape just by rotating the phone?
I use BSB Tweaks. It allows you to rotate any program and it is very easy to use. You select the rotation feature in BSB, go to the program , then shake the phone. Just search for it here, it's a free app.
or use rhodium keyboard control and assign screen rotation to any key.

Yea exactly, that's what I did. Probably the Push to Talk button, that's the one I use for it. The shake feature does seem kind of cool to rotate it. But at the same time, let's say you're in public and people see you randomly shake your phone... might look a little odd
