Hi, i would like to change my wizard.
I found that the processor (ti omap 850 200mhz) lacks speed, and the 400mhz seems good.
Can someone tell me if the difference is important?
i also have a problem with the wizard that im not sure if the hermes solve it. I have a Bluetooth GPS and a Motorola a2dp headset.
When i use both at the same time, the headset stops working, and starts skipping audio. I guess this is because the wizard has Bluetooth 1.2. But Hermes has 2.0, so with bigger bandwidth, i guess this might work.
This working is top priority in my case.
Please excuse my english, im spanish.
Pd: im seeing that there are several versions of hermes, one with a secondary VGA camera, and the other without it. Is that the only difference?
Pd2: on wizard there are G3/G4 models. I have a G4, so flashing is complicated. Something similar happends on Hermes?.
Ok, yes the proccessor is MUCH faster on the hermes (i switched from a wizard to a hermes and it is noticeable).
Can't tell you much about the bluetooth problems your having other than there are tweaks around to improbe a2dp but i don't know about both at the same time. I don't have a bluetooth headset but i do use my bluetooth gps reciever a lot and never ran into trouble.
The different versions of the hermes are the HERM100/200/300. The one without the front facing vga camera is the one sold under cingular/att in the US because video calling is not supported by their network (not yet atleast). So the only differences in the models are the looks, the processor and everything else is the same.
As for flashing, i think only the softbank models had issues with flashing earlier on but i think those are all cleared out. So no need to worry about G3/G4 models as u did with the wizard.
Hope that answers your questions, but one more thing to say; If your willing to hold off for a month and a bit until you get a new device i suggest waiting for the HTC Kaiser which is rumored to be released in September.

Thank you, that pretty much gives me an idea about hermes.
The thing is that i live in argentina, and i have a change to bring a hermes (bought on eBay) in the next couple of weeks.
Which will be the advantages of Kaiser comparing it to Hermes?
i've notice that some HTC phones are coming without the 850 gsm band, which is used in here.
i still hope someone reads this and confirms about the GPS + headset functionality.
Just sold my s620.
Am deciding between s630, asus m530w and hp 914
what do you guys think of the s630 ?
Hello,
i have the S620, think to buy an S630 ... (UMTS) .. but i want Windows Mobile 6.1 and i have no found this os for the s630
The asus are nice, but the same as the s620/s630: no gps
The ipaq 914 are my very big favorit, but i think it takes 6-8 month .. hp has problems and i don't think the ipaq 914 comes in 2 month (HP wrotes that to me)
cheers
I was interested in the HP 614, but put off by the depth and the serious bug it has with 3G.
The HP 914 looks nice but very over priced. Maybe I will wait. I don't really need to have GPS, but in some ways would prefer it over 3G which seems to just be a battery drain.
Eten make some lovely devices with GPS, e.g. the x600. unfortunately none have a non-sliding/folding keyboard which I don't like.
I have 'upgraded' from S620 to the S630 and my advice is............don't do it. The only advantage with the S630 is 3G connectivity.....but other than that I have found it to be extremely unstable (reboot once a day), not as well designed as the S620 and currently very poorly supported (not even shown on the HTC website).

thx
I might wait for a few firmware versions
what do you think about the weight and size compared to the s620 ?
actually, after thinking about it, I have decided to buy a new s620
Good choice on the S620
HTC seem to have all but abandoned the S630 - there are no updates for it and its not even listed on their website anymore....
Dopod have a couple of newer ROM's for the C730 (same as S630) but until I can find a way to unlock and SuperCID my S630 - I'm stuck on the crappy HTC ROM.
I'm very pleased with the s630, it has been rock solid with not one crash in my first week. I have moved from a treo 750 and prefer the non-touchscreen win mob variant. I've not had any memory issues either, often running 8/9 apps with no apparant slow down. Wifi connects easily, the device is well made and solid feeling. I've turned off 3g and run it on GSM only which helps battery life considerably, I rarely need 3g when out and about, preferring instead to do data downloading via wifi where available. I think it is a great device.
Ok, my brother bought his diamond & I thought I noticed that his colors were washed out but I thought it might just be me or either it’s the brightness settings.
Well, today I bought a new Diamond for my cousin & it seems no wonder what rom I tried or settings I change the colors are defiantly washed out unlike my older Diamond which came with 1.34.
I will try to take a picture of them both using the same rom. But anyway did anyone ever notice this before? Any info on this, yet?
EDIT: check the picture, look at the
1- backround much lighter color !!
2- Red,orange, green colors are much more vibrent in older model.
3- contrast on the left the black is much deeper !!
I noticed something similar when I compared the display of a HTC Diamond and a MDA Compact IV. The Display of the Diamond had somewhat warmer colors. The white was slightly more "yellowish". The MDA Screen was more cooler in color tone/temperature. it had a more steril look to it.
I personally favored the warmer screen of the Diamond.
I think this may (although I don't know how it's technically possible) that this is caused by the ROM that the device is running. I have noticed on some ROMs that my Diamond has a plain white background whereas on others the background is off-white or warmish-yellow as jones23 mentions.
Shouldn't this be in the Diamond section and not Diamond ROM Development?
HTC Builds most handsets in Taiwan (SN starts HT) or china the Taiwan models are usually more refined in manufacture and component quality. with previous touch models "Touch" "Touch Dual" this was very clear when the handsets are placed together with the Chinese made having a very poor screen, HTC also has a habit of tighter quality control on its network commission handsets (Network branded usually better standard) because of higher costs for return passed on from service provider
check the first post, i added a picture of both, left one is older versions.
Both roms are running dutty Hybrid rom, so exact copy.
Well there seems to be a difference i have a 3G And 2G both and 3G's screen seems much bright .
Totally the same
Naser404! Totally the same what I am facing.
Last month I bought a Touch Diamond which came with ROM 1.35.xx
That one is darker than my current one which I just bought today evening (ROM 1.37.xx) I was thinking my new one is fake one or something else before I found this forum. ha ha!
You know, the new one is noticeably smoother than the old one maybe because of newer ROM version. I also think like this, HTC reduce graphic quality to speed up TouchFlo 3D.
No bro, I tried with the same ROM, i am quiet sure its the lcd screen is of lower quality & therefore lower cost. Manufactureres always do that, if you even check the first Iphone released it had a diffrent screen then the ones released a month or two later.

Oh! really? So I prefer my old diamond screen
I think it has something to do with spl.
I had same problem with my 1.37xxx diamond. but after flashing hard spl 1.40 i had screen flickering, then i flashed the 1.37 hard spl unsigned with the 1.93 rom, now brightness back to normal. screen flickering solved too. So ithink you should try flashing different spl.
My Diamond came in late June form China and I flashed with Unsigned-Hard-SPL-Diamond-OliNex 1.40 and Duttys Hybrid 5.2.19965 20270.
Today, I had to do the same process for my friend's device who got here locally in Cairo (and also to over come the know issue of unavailability of GPS b the ROM, as GPS is banned in Egypt !!!).
After finishing the flashing, surprisingly I noticed that there is a difference in colors of the 2 devices.
Mine the old one, is brighterwhile my friend's colors are washed. So I guess it has to do with the screen type and not the ROM or the SPL
Fortunatly, my device is older

Your friends device might be a newer one with 1.37 rom installed. and you need the new unsigned hard spl 1.37 only for people who are having screen flickering. Try to swtich it might help.
Same problem here, mine looks like the one on the right
It's very annoying, if there was a way to adjust contrast this issue could be solved somewhat....
Also faced the same issue. My diamond was replaced for a wifi problem and the replacement had this newer screen that is as described in the 1st post. The washing out is most apparent when viewing the screen from an angle, where as the original screen would not show any washing out at ANY angle. The original screen was much better. I sent an e-mail to HTC support and recieved the following reply:
"Thank you for contacting HTC Corporation Middle East Support Firstly, we’re very sorry for your problems with your desired phone HTC and it’s our honour to have your trust. Regarding HTC Diamond displays, with a global shortage of LCD displays this year, HTC sourced from multiple vendors. All LCD displays meet our engineering specifications. We have compared displays side by side and there are subjective differences in appearance, but all meet our engineering specifications. So, many replacement will not solve the problem as the recently patches from screens will provide the same quality"
But I have noticed 1 good thing about the new screen, it is much better under the sun.
So can one of of you crazy programmers up to the task to make a program which adjusts contrast?
cuz I'm thinking of upgrading and I'd like to know if they have the same battery since I have an extended battery that works very well. I would really appreciate this information guys/gals
Its my first post in this forum, I usually post on the Excalibur group
TIA
no i dont think so
Definitly not......I have both phones and the extended battery for the Dash - they are not interchangeable I'm afraid.....

Ihickin:
I am considering the S630 to replace my 620 and I see that you have both. Is the S630 a worthwhile upgrade?
Thanks
s620 pros:
slim
sexy
s630 pros:

I would agree with oldsap's comments........but my experience with the S630 has been less than stellar. On the original HTC WM6 ROM I experienced a LARGE number of lock-ups, data loss and general dis-satisfaction.
The excellent work done by cruzzmzz on this forum for the WM6.1 build is definitly the way to go.....it's still got a couple of little bugs in it but on the whole *much* better than the WM6 ROM
Okay, so I've been around on these forums for a while (Kaiser and Xperia), and have always used customs ROMs. With that preface....
I went and sampled the stock Tilt 2 in an AT&T store today and it just seemed sluggish and underwhelming next to my old but customized Xperia X1a (running Valkyrie latest Firestorm ROM). Please tell me that the experience is MUCH improved once a custom ROM is flashed. Seriously, I'm thinking my Tilt 1 wasn't much worse than the Tilt 2, aside from a few minor hardware differences. And I'm not real motivated to give up my Xperia for the Tilt 2. Anyone else that used to have an Xperia?? Comments??
Also, does the Tilt 2 camera work better with custom ROMs? I was really disappointed in that aspect in particular.
In short, I found the Tilt 2 to be fat, sluggish, and no better than my old customized phones. I know I'm comparing a customized phone to a stock one, so that's why I need you all's help! I've not used a customized Tilt 2.
Comments are appreciated. Peace.
ps. I'm thinking I'll still get it, and pray that Android is ported successfully

I have been running the tilt 2 sense 3 days days before it was released by AT&T and am running a personal version of Josh's rom and I can say that it is improved alot. The stock rom is just trash compared to a custom rom. The camera (to quote one blog) is just crap all around, it is the only realy dissapointment I have with this phone and I have been waiting sense Feb for this phone to be released. I have never used the X1 so I cant really compare it to that.
Stock rom is laggy as hell and very slow/unresponsive. Once you flash a custom rom everything will be ok. On a side note, the touchflo3d/manila interface uses a lot of memory and I believe spb mobile shell is much better in terms of speed.
yep, my stock tilt2 is laggy, but has it looks it is the shotty programming from at&t. but I am not to the point of flashing yet, it does exactly what i want, even if i have to wait for it to respond, or i just soft reset it. it seems to run better without tf3d, but i like it still
