ok. I put an order in to Clove yesterday, now they are asking for a Transaction number that is 6-digit, but the number my bank gave me was 8-digit. Is this going to matter? Will this screw up or take longer with the order? The bank was kinda confused as to why they wanted it cause they said its unlikely they had access to it.
I know a few here have purchased from Clove before, can you guys tell me if this is normal?
I think you can send them ur drivers license or something and that would be ok too. I'm not sure i usually cancel my orders with clove because they make things way too difficult. I order from handtec.co.uk
what do they mean 6 digit code at the bottom of the printed card sale voucher?? I gave them the only number my bank gave me.. what do they want exactly??
Something that will allow them to verify its your card or verify the shipping address or something. I can't say for sure I think i just emailed them a copy of my DL.
This is what they sent to me

For security purposes, to enable us to ship your machine as soon as they arrive from our supplier without delay, please could you select one of the following options to enable dispatch of your goods.
A) Please contact your card issuer for the Authorisation Code (or Transaction Code) relating to the payment. There is a unique code for every card transaction (as appears at the bottom of a store receipt) and your card issuer will only give this information to the card holder. When you confirm that code to us via email, phone or fax, your order will ship.
OR
B) You can email or fax a copy (photo, scan or pdf) of your passport, or any official document showing the registered card holder’s name and address (such as a driving license or bank statement or other utility bill).
If sending a credit card statement, we understand that you may wish to conceal certain pieces of information, this is fine, providing we can at least see your name, address and the last 4 digits of the credit/debit card number. If the statement is in another language (not English) we can still accept this.
OR
C) If you would prefer not to do option A or B please let us know. We can then attempt to contact your card issuer to verify your details, but please be aware this may cause a delay in processing the order.
Your co-operation with this security procedure is appreciated as our intention is to prevent unauthorised card transactions.

Just give them the 3 digit code from your credit card. Or log into your bank account and get the transaction number that obviously indicates the purchase of the TP2.
its not the 3 diget code from the card, they asked for that at the time of the sale. and i dont think the number i will get from the bank site will be any different than the one i got from the rep when i called. I made a scan of my license (in b&w) and im just going to email that to them in a pdf. ive about had it with what freaking code they want.
In most international buys is the same.
As stated before with just sending a copy of your passport should be ok

Love to but who would i report them too?
Thanks for letting the community know. Please spread the word!
I don't want to bust you're bubbles, and I'm definitely not a lawyer or anything, but I can't actually see the site is doing anything wrong? It never once says it will unlock your phone, just that it sells a report telling you how to, and the 'report' you posted does that. It seems factually correct, if not overly helpful. The info it contains may not be 'worth' what you paid for it, but 'worth' is kind of relative, some people may find it useful and not mind the cost?
I'm not saying you shouldn't have posted and let others know, it's obviously a bit of a con even if it's legally defensible, but you are putting yourself and perhaps this board at risk by posting copyright material, no matter how useless you find its content.
Also, what's this got to do with development, shouldn't it be in general?

I completely agree, whilst YOU expected your phone to be unlocked for £5, THEY did not say that you would indeed have your phone unlocked, but stated that you could pay for the unlock 'report' and therefore, if anyone is at fault, it is yourself for posting the £5 information on here and breaching their copyright.
Just to point out, I do not like this sort of site as they are preying on the quick-to-react types who see unlocking for £5 and go for it (I used to be like that) but all it needs is a small T&C read and you will understand and not hand your money over.
Simples!
its called deceptive advertising.
its like when you go onto ebay and the ad says "picture of iphone" and you ASSUME its a picture OF the iphone and you just spent 300$ on a picture of an iphone.
its morally wrong more or less. They take advantage of people not being able to really read an ad or a website or the fine print before purchasing.
sorry man
I fell for this site as well but started a paypal dispute off straight and then upgraded to a claim and got my money back straight away from paypal

I was having trouble getting my Vanilla MasterCard Prepaid to work with zune to buy apps for my WP7. I didn't want to use a real credit card because my son would likely run up a large bill. After a bit of work and searching, I got it to work. Here is how.
1) Buy Vanilla MasterCard (costs $4 activation fee + the value of the card);
2) Wait a bit (1h?) for the card to be activated;
3) Go to vanillamastercard.com and enter the needed info for your card;
4) Select Activate Card from the menu on the left;
5) Enter your postal code (or zip code or whatever);
6) Wait a bit (1h?) for the activation to get registered;
7) Add the card to your zune account. Enter your real info (or not), just make sure that the postal code is the same.
That should do it. Presumably the process would be similar for other prepaid credit cards as well, but this is the only one I can vouch for.
Do you know if that card works for buying apps too?

Yes. That is actualy what I have used it for. I did the App buying from the Zune on my PC. After the purchase, I just went to my phone and selected "buy" for the app. The market place then said "you have already purchased this app, do you want to re-download it" I said yes, and it then installed the full version.
Maybe I'm stupid but I can't figure out how I can buy this vanilla card on their site.

Hi there,
i am from the UK. based on all the forums i read about google wallet, there doesn't seems to be anyway we can topup our google wallet prepaid card from abroad.
which i have a question. if you are in the states, where google wallet is officially supported, how do you actually topup the prepaid card?
is it only possible via the google wallet app? do they only accept topping up from a american credit card?
i am thinking whether its possible to some how setup a VPN (not even a proxy), to the US, and topup via it?
I would suggest trying this - http://www.usunlocked.com/how_it_works.php?topic=USUnlockedCard

still doesn't quite answer my question of how to topup into the prepay card google gives. (as we can't add any CCards apart from cards from the US. plus specific banks only i believe).
unless you are trying to tell me, that i can add this virtual debit card into my google wallet app.

That won't work unfortunately.
I'm starting to think that we're stuck until Google officially release the application in the UK. What a shame.
Unless you have a friend/family member in the states who is willing to provide you with all of their card details. I don't have that.

They give you a US virtual prepaid card. Google Wallet only takes credit cards for top-up. Besides, I contacted the company and they confirmed that it won't work with Google Wallet.
We're stuck.

****ty! I didn't realise that. Oh well! Sucks for us (UK/rest of the world).
I remember reading about Google Wallet on Modaco after GN release, and I noticed someone saying every time they reflashed the package they were getting a different ID... wonder if this means another free $10 - could be an nice supply of McDonald's being one of the only places I have seen where you can use it .

I was thinking about that, too. Logging into Google Wallet online shows no record of the $10, maybe that's why?
But I'm not too sure. Not only is it morally questionable, but you'd basically be stealing $10, and the people you're stealing from have your name, phone number, address etc.
But maybe I'll try it later on in the future. I'm sick of constantly being bugged to update to the volume bug fix update, so I might restore to stock, update and then try to reflash Google Wallet.

Hehe, great minds think alike I'm scared to do it too... As Google Wallet will be in UK for the Olympics (maybe before to test it)... they'll catch up with us
I've used up most of my $10 from google already after flashing Wallet onto my phone.
I purchased a USunlocked card and attempted to refill the prepaid card however it did not work.
Every attempt was met with something like: "Funds were not added. Please try again."
I sent an email to Google Wallet support (of which they've recently removed the email contact) and:
1. Ensure that your phone is connected to the CDMA data network or to
Wifi. Check if your Wifi is turned on.
2. Ensure that you are using a credit card (or a signature debit card) to
add funds, not a debit card requiring a PIN.
3. Ensure that your billing address for the credit card you are using to
load funds is in the United States. At this time, the app is unable to
accept P.O. Box addresses.
4. Ensure that you are using the most updated version of Google Wallet.
5. Try to add funds to the Google Prepaid Card again.
If you still experience trouble with this, I recommend contacting Money
Network, the issuer of the Google Prepaid Card. You can reach them at
855-896-0693.
Which was pretty much a canned response. I will however, contact the number and attempt a manual transfer over the phone.
CAN ANY US users check if they can actually refill their hacked/flashed Google Wallet with their own cards?

Wallet topup UK
Having looked at the google help on topping up (found at support_dot_google_dot_com_slash_wallet and selecting the payments link) it is unlikely that UK residents will be able to topup until google launches the wallet in the UK with a card issuer here. The main stopper will be the anti money laundering and know your customer requirements that are particularly tough in the US after 9/11. First off the add funds help says you need a credit card (not a debit or gift card) so even US issued prepaid cards wont work, secondly the billing address will need to be a US billing address, and thirdly you will need a US social security number or birth address in the US, so I think it is a non starter, have fun with the $10.
first off all Im in milan-Italy and untill I have money using google wallet without any problems
So, today I got a paypal credit card from a friend in the US to add funds to google pre paid card
so I fullfill the blacks spaces with me friend details, he lives in LA and I clicked next and after I got a message saying that it didint worke!!!!
why...???????
I then went back and made the procedure once again, and nothing...not working...I changed the amount of money this time...and nothing
and later stopped cause the money was being charged on paypal....!!!!!!
and I still without any money on google wallet.....
am waiting to see if the money was really charged from the paypal account of my friend....
anyone know wats happening??
thanks in advance and any input is appreciated....
I'd really like to get the new google wallet working on my nexus. I've got a it up and running on my rooted device and have the $10 credit on the google prepaid card. However, I'd like to add both my UK debit and my credit card so that I can use those.
To get GW all I did was install Market Enabler, set it to US-T-Mobile, then opened Play Store and installed Wallet. That went through without a problem and I got the $10 on my google prepaid card. However, I can't add any of my own cards. I've read that people outside of the US have managed to get their own cards in there but I haven't found a clear set of instructions to do it. I've searched in here, Nexus 7, and other forums.
If this thread could be kept to people outside the US who have managed to get this to work then perhaps I could post a step by step plan of how to make it work. If you have tried but failed it would also be interesting to see the step at which it failed.
Thanks!

There are way too many Wallet threads so you should be posting in one of the other ones... that said, people have added cards by using US addresses and then changing the address back to the proper one on the web, and the cards look usable, but they don't work. You'll have to wait like the rest of us.
So that's what I did today. I cleared out all my cards by logging into wallet.google.com and then removed each one. I then went back to my phone and registered my visa debit card with a US zip code. Once that worked I went back to my pc and changed the card address so that any AVS check would match.
I did two trials of paying, at two different shops. The first I tried with the Google prepaid card, using the $10 credit. The item I was paying for was over $10 and I knew it should be declined. Not to get too too technical, but the payment transaction was initiated and the auth request was sent. It was then returned with a declined message. So it asked for the money and was declined on the basis that funds weren't available (and cost Google in the process - sorry!).
So then I went to a different shop and tried to pay for something using my visa debit card. This time I just got an error. It appeared to be an error communicating with the PDQ but it was hard to tell.
The request has to be failing somewhere. So does it fail at the processor or somewhere else? I'm going to keep plugging away at this especially as I have a way to monitor what's happening on the card end as I work for a payments company and can issue myself a prepaid card.
If it's possible to get this to work in the UK then I'm going to do my best to make it happen. If anyone who works in payments in the UK or even elsewhere reads this and fancies a bit of a deep dive into what exactly is happening then I'm keen.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
download alogcat then move it to /system/apps (since it won't work on JB otherwise), open it before a transaction. clear logs. try your transaction. read the logs. might help? helped me to figure out why the prepaid card I was using wouldn't work - basically an address parsing problem on google's end.
Cheers for the tip. I'll try that today.

So, a brief report of what I discovered.
1. I successfully used the google prepaid card in the UK.
2. I wasn't able to use my own debit card which is registered in my wallet (it simply gets declined)
3. I think I know why.
Google wallet is not the clever beast I thought it was. I thought they had come up with an ingenious way to use a virtual card to do some sort of pass through transaction. The truth (or at least my understanding of it) is something much simpler and mundane. Google are simply doing the acquiring of your transaction and then using a virtual card to pay the transaction. So it's a sort of man in the middle approach.
This has 2 rather big implications
1. Google are willing to pay to do this. They will be paying for every transaction and this signals to me a very serious intent to buy into the world of payments. They want the data so much they are willing to pay a not insignificant sum for it (perhaps this is why it's such a limited roll out?). Therre game plan is to monitise all that data. I'd love to have a look at their 10 year wallet strategy...
2. Your non US card will never work outside of the US. There are a whole heap of ways they might be doing this. The simplest in my opinion would be to block/accept BIN ranges. If your card has a US banking BIN then it passes and gets charged and if not it gets declined immediately.
So, that's the end of my adventure into the land of google wallet outside of the US.
Corollary; Obviously any time you use the google prepaid card outside of the US you're going to suffer a currency conversion. My transaction at the weekend came out to $6.25 and using the mid market rate from Saturday (of 1.5699) this converts to £3.98. My actual transaction was £3.95. That's not bad. I would guess that Google are using the mastercard exchange rates (which are very close to mid market). This means that if you want to use Google Wallet via the prepaid card you're not going to suffer much in the exchange rate loss (probably ok for infrequent or low value transactions).
i have a tried a couple of prepaid cards (registered with US addresses) and they don't seem to work.

As many people have discovered, Google is simply performing an Address Verification System (AVS) check to confirm the billing address registered against the card in Wallet matches the billing address that the card operator has registered against the card, AND (the critical part) that this is a valid US address.
This is why even a generic prepaid US Visa/Mastercard doesn't work unless it is one that allows you to register a billing address for the AVS to reference, and then you use that same address in Wallet.
In theory (though untested), you could use your UK (or wherever) card as long as the billing address your bank has registered is a valid US address... but I doubt you'd be able to get the bank to change your billing address without proof that you actually live there!

The OP mentions that they're on a custom rooted rom, so they are probably using the modded build of wallet from modaco (http://www.modaco.com/topic/354635-region-device-root-patched-google-wallet-apk-15-r87-v15/) which has 3 restrictions patched out:
Device check - the app will now work on any device, not just the ones Google allows. Of course you need to have NFC for it to be useful!
Operator check - the app should now not care which operator you are on, rather than just the ones who officially support Wallet
Root warning. This isn't strictly required, as Google Wallet doesn't actually stop you using the app if you're rooted, it just gives you a warning on screen (which is a little annoying), but this version won't even do that
With this configuration, the 'wallet' side of things works works fine (NFC, etc), and even adding new cards can be done if you know what you're doing, but unless the AVS check on the card resolves to a valid US address, the transaction will be declined at the terminal.
TL DR: I'm searching for a free IMEI unlock code site or tool.
I recently purchased an Amazon Fire Phone in the U.S. from a third party (ebay-us). The seller was not sure if the phone was locked or not but in the description it did highlight AT&T.
When I received the phone, I found it locked to AT&T as there is an AT&T Sim Card in the device.
First, I attempted to use the AT&T device unlock website: new user prevented from posting outside links in their messages
Two days later, I received an email stating: We weren't able to process your request because the device is no longer supported by the manufacturer and we couldn't obtain an unlock code.
So, I called them, and they directed me to Amazon.
Second, I attempted to contact Amazon. Here is that response.
I'm sorry, but I'm unable to unlock your Fire phone.
If you currently own a Fire phone that was purchased with an AT&T two-year contract or Next plan, your phone may be eligible to be unlocked based on AT&T's unlock policies. For more information about AT&T’s unlock policies, I encourage you to check with AT&T at 1-800-331-0500, or visit their website at: [new user prevented from posting outside links in their messages]
If your device was purchased from a retailer other than Amazon, please confirm to the retailer if the device was purchased originally from Amazon.com by getting the Amazon.com Order ID.
You can reach Fire Phone Support directly and toll free from many countries by clicking the Contact Us option on our support pages: [new user prevented from posting outside links in their messages]
Contacting us through the website allows you to verify security before a call is placed and ensures we have your account information ready when we call you. If you need help with your Fire phone, please make sure you have it with you when you contact us, along with your power adapter and any additional accessories. If you wish to return the device, you'll need to return the item directly to that retailer. Amazon cannot directly accept the return of Firephone devices or accessories purchased from other retailers. Please contact the retailer from which you bought your item for more information about their return policy.
Thanks for your interest in Fire phone.
I attempted to contact the retail seller and ask them for an original Amazon Order ID. As you can imagine, that led no where. But, it does seem that if I was able to acquire an Amazon Order ID (on a receipt or email of original purchase) this would resolve it and I'd be able to acquire an unlock code.
Third, I called AT&T and was informed that since this phone was never registered with an AT&T contract (it has no phone # tethered to the phone firmware) that they were unable to unlock the phone. As I conversed with the Support Rep, I discovered this is not a matter of impossibility, but rather a matter of AT&T Policy. They could simply send me an unlock code, but per their procedures, were unable to assist me as I couldn't me their criteria. I was again redirected to Amazon.
Fourth, I called Amazon, and discussed this with a Support Rep. I was again informed that I needed to Contact AT&T to retrieve an unlock code. As I conversed with this Amazon Support Rep. I, again, discovered that it was not impossible to unlock the phone. In a situation, where I could bribe him with money, he could theoretically send me an unlock code. He clarified and told me it was a matter of policy and that he couldn't give me an unlock code as a matter of policy.
He suggested that I could take the phone to a retail mobile shop and they might offer an unlock service. This means, that it is not entirely restricted to AT&T and Amazon, as both have simply redirected me to the other. However, I'm unable to find any unlocking suggestions on xda. But, if retail is capable of unlocking it, then, it seems there should be something somewhere on the internet that provides these tools or solutions.
What can I say. I didn't attempt to bribe the fellow as their calls are recorded. But, I left him with the suggestion that he has my email address and that I look forward to those details on third parties which can unlock the sim card for me. We'll see if that works. But, boy, has this locked sim become a burden. Does anyone reading this have a link to Amazon Fire Phone Unlocking SIM Cards Eazy Guides? Or, Tools? I have gone through this, but it wasn't very helpful to my situation. [new user prevented from posting outside links in their messages]
If anyone knows of alternative methods of unlocking the sim card, I'm all ears. I may end up simply returning the phone and requesting a refund. But, I'd prefer to find a solution which actually unlocks it instead. I need help finding a PUK Code for my phone.
My first Amazon phone I bought over a year ago and was able to to get unlocked by ATT no issues. Recently, I bought second ATT amazon phone that was never used, at a local computer store and went through same exact experience that you went through. They stopped supporting or unlocking the phone at Amazon and ATT. I even paid third-party on eBay for unlock code but they just refunded me after three days saying that they were unable to get an unlock code. I wasted a lot of time with that phone, and in the end I just sold it luckily for the same price I bought it for. I was able find unlocked, brand new on eBay for $88. Funny, after I bought on eBay, someone was selling one like new unlocked on craigslist for $40, so I bought that too lol.
I would suggest sell it, save your time and effort and just buy unlocked on eBay, as they are so cheap. Be careful who you buy from on eBay, make sure they explicitly state that it is unlocked. Due to the age of model, also try buy a new one because a used one most likely will have old used up battery in it. The seller I bought from sold me a brand new phone that was still wrapped in plastic, came with box and the original headphones. I think seller was bid4best, can search them on eBay. Good luck.
