Hi,
I tried TouchFlo3D for a week or so, but eventually gave up on it and turned it off - the TP2 is much more responsive, has 20% more free memory, better battery life and the UI is much more consistent as a result.
I keep coming across TF3D-like bits of the UI even with TF3D disabled, and I am trying to get rid of all of them to get as close to vanilla WM6.1 as possible. I've hacked the registry to remove the HTC notification manager, and also recovered the original WM volume control.
I've been able to hack the registry to restore the default WM WrlsMgr.exe instead of the HTC CommManager, which seems fine, but the default WrlsMgr only switches phone and wifi - tapping the Bluetooth button has no effect. Does anyone know how you can configure the default wrlsmgr to control the Widcomm BT stack? I can't see anything obvious in the registry at all - I have a suspicion that the HTC CommManager is primarily a Bluetooth controller, as it calls out to other apps to control wifi and phone, but does BT itself. Any advice gratefully received!
While on the subject, if anyone can suggest how to get rid of the HTC dialog that comes up at the start of an ActiveSync, and also the power off confirmation, that would be great.
Many thanks in advance.

I just upgraded from a SPV m1000 (Himalaya) to a SPV m2000 (Blue Angel). I know I'm a little late to upgrade but I just thought I would share what I thought of it:
PROS
- Navigation pad - it's a lot better, with the m1000 I kept hitting the wrong direction because it was small and circular. The 4 buttons above the navigation make one-hand operation more possible.
- Bluetooth: It now comes with Widcomm BT as standard so you can send files and join a BT network. I tried getting the Widcomm stack to work on the m1000 but I couldn't get activesync to work. On the old MS BT stack activesync kept failing for some unknown reason, on the m2000 it works fine.
- Built-in Wifi: A lot more convenient than having to constantly swap SD cards. Also I suspect using the Socket BT driver pushed the m1000 too near the 32 process limit so Skype's VoIP didn't work properly. While voice quality on Skype on the m2000 isn't perfect the other person is at least comprehensible.
- 43MB flash RAM: The m1000 only had 14MB which was probably enough. It only occured to me recently to store all my documents in this area to avoid data loss if the main RAM was wiped.
- Slide down keyboard: Should make writing emails faster, though I'm still getting used to it.
- Higher capacity battery: gets you through the day. Sometimes I would be out of juice by the end of the day on the m1000.
- MMS is built into the email application.
- Pocket Internet Explorer now renders pages without horizontal scrolling which reduces the need for alternative browsers like NetFront.
- Screen Rotation: While there was quite a good utility for screen rotation available on these forums for PPC 2003, the one in SE is faster, the apps re-render better and the navigation pad is also rotated.
- The audio socket is on the top of the device, though there is an awkward rubber "stopper".
CONS
- It's slightly bigger and heavier but you get used to it.
- The email application takes a little longer to load which can be annoying when you want to quickly see the last couple of SMSes.
- The power button is on the right hand side which is a little more awkward, though it does stop you from accidently pressing it when you shove the device into your pocket.
- The volumn slider isn't as easy to use - it's nearly flush with the surface.
- Case: Isn't very good - you have to take the device out to use it. The m1000 case fits the m2000 but you will still have to take it out to use the slide down keyboard.
- Headphones: Has only one button to answer calls instead of answer and reject buttons on the m1000.
OTHER INFO
m1000 PPCTechs Sync n' Charge cable should work with m2000 though you will need to get a new audio adapater if you want to use 3.5mm headphones.
Thanks for your comparison,
Was thinking about upgrading my M1000, but I think I'll wait for the SPV 3G to come out unless it's going to be ages! I do love the M2000 though, my mate has it and he loves having a better phone than me...
I upgraded from the M1000 to the M2000 about a month or two ago, and im very happy, there are a few "CONS" as with any device you buy, but i think the "PROS" totally see over this and make it a much better PPC than the M1000....
Markh - just one thing, about the headphones(handsfree) only having one button as apposed to the M1000 having two, It actually is a whole lot better in my view, cos now you dont havr to look at which button you pressing to pick it up, there is now one button to "pick up" and the same button to "put down".... no more worries about pushing the red one when u want to pick up...
Pros:
Keyboard
Wi-fi
Looks better
Specs look better on paper
Cons:
Battery is appauling
Appaulingly slow and unstable
Rarely works for calls (in a variety of ways ie you won't even notice it's crashed as it looks fine and the PPC functions work, but you get home at the end of the day and have tonnes of messages from people saying your phone's turned off / the no sound (no connection) problem experienced by 77% of users.)
SPB Pocketplus (the only 3rd party app I really used) makes a bad phone perform worse
Most of the extra features make it crash (ie. the screen rotate)
Almost anything makes media player skip as the phone can't handle it
Screen has a yellow hue
Crappy headphone adapter
Getting your sim out is a b!tch
Volume slider is awkward
IR port is on the side so IR keyboards won't work (even if you rotate the screen) so I need to buy an expensive BT one
Disabled BT in 'beam' option: although BT 3900 fixes this for file manager, the pictures app suffers. You can no longer choose the picture to beam by looking for the thumbnail.

Please help me out I'm incredibly frustrated with this thing. I recently got the PDA2k and installed WM05 on it. It looks very nice and it runs speedy with no problems. My problem is the bluetooth which is huge thing to me. Either my headset (Tekkeon Eztalker Mini) is not compatible which I doubt or I'm making a stupid mistake.
This is what I did step by step: I click on the bluetooth icon and turn on the bluetooth, I then put my headset in pairing mode and the imate is able to recognize it and I enter the Pw and I put Set as handsfree. That's it, I would think I would be done at this point yet nothing happens, the headset doesn't do anything and I know its not Tekkeons fault because I was able to hook it up easily with my HP 6315.
So what's going what am I missing?
Also theres a tab at the bottom called "Com Ports" but I only see under this option "Incoming Port", and the description at the top says there should be another option called "New outgoing port". Does this have anything to do with it?
What Am i doing wrong? It's driving me crazy I can't really use the phone without the headset.
help me out pls
Bluetooth
I know the feeling, i have gone back to 2003 cause of that but now i am back on wm5. The bluetooth issue is not fixed yet, it is not stable, it keeps going off. There is a suspend cab file, but it does not work for me yet, also try pokect zen beta. You might get a longer period of bluetooth
thanks for responding, but the problem is not that it suspends or stops working. It doesn't start working at all even though the imate detects it. It's like it's not connected at all, not that it disconnects. I'm doing something wrong I just don't know what.
The bluetooth piece is not faulty and the unit is practically brand new. whats going on?
I used "Display Switch" binded button (From Wisbar Advance 2) or "Toggle Screen" (From SPB Pocket Plus) to turn off the backlight instead of using power button .
This work around will keep bt connection alive.
Note:
1. If you suspend your BA using psShutXP your bt connection .
2. You have to disable auto turn off device under Start -> Setting -> Power
Note:
1. If you suspend your BA using psShutXP your bt connection will be disconnected.
I'm sorry I'm not sure I'm explaining myself correctly. I understand that if the power goes off I will lose the BT connection but the problem is not KEEPING the connection alive, the problem is MAKING the connection. I follow all the steps , the imate recognized the headset but I'm not able to use it..also shouldn't a headset picture show up at the top of the screen when the bt headset is connected (cuz mine doesnt). what am i doing wrong?
thanks.
still need help please.. if someone can walk me through how to setup a bluetooth connection that would be great cuz I apparently haven't done it right.
The headset icon only shows in Phone app
The headset icon only shows up in the Phone application. It no longer is displayed in the notification area (top row).
If your device is paired up, when you make a call, you will see the headset icon in the top right corner.
You may also need to clear any old pairings that you headset has. I have a Jabra 250 and it happens all the time.
there we go you have solved my problem!. I didnt' have to open up the phone application on my hp 6315 to use the bt. So wait can I listen to music with windows media player through the bt headset or does it only work when making phone calls? I was able to listen to music on the HP 6315, is it different with the Imate or is it the NEW 05 os? Please enlighten me
thank you thank you
also one other thing does this mean that if i want to use the headset with the phone that I have to press the answer button on the imate rather than the headset..cuz that would suck big time.
what about when people call me can i answer with the answer button of the bt headset or no?
It works fine with the headset button for answering or hanging up.

Hello Everyone,
i am a proud owner of the S9 bluetooth headset and it worked very well at the beginning (1 day). Than i deletes 2 registry settings as mentioned in a forum somewhere (max bit pool stuff) to get better sound quality.
I dont know if it is the cause of the problem i got now but next day the S9 was gone in the bluetooth device list of my touch dual and cant be found anymore. the strange thing about it is that if i press the telephone button on the S9 the ms voice command icon appears and i can talk to it. also the touch dual seems to use the s9 as headset as the ring tone volume is switched to zero and the headset icon appears in the calling screen (after pressing the send button)
anyway i am not able to conect the s9 for music transfer and that is the problem if got..
any chance to delete the touch dual in the s9 settings so it allows a repairing? or somehow recovering the appearance of the s9 in the device list of the ppc?
any suggestions are welcome.. nice sunday everone
Edit:
Problem solved.. dont know how but the pocket pc found the headset finally again..
Glad that it works again for you.
I have a Blueangle with WM 6.1 and the S9.
Can you get yours to play music and have the display off (not dimmed but off). I have found a device lock that works fine while BT is off however when BT is on and connected to the S9 it always wakes up the screen.
What Version of WM are you running ??
Oops, sounds like my yet-to-be-solved case.
What I have: Qtek 9100 and Jabra BT250v. Some time ago I also deleted this partnership (don`t ask why) and when tried to re-establish it again, the device kept declining the connection with the headset. The device finds the headset, asks for a password and whatever combination of digits I enter it rejects to establish a new partnership.
I guess, the problem is in registry. Anyone could help with this one? What should I fix in a registry to re-pair the headset and device? Thanks in advance.
Ok in case anyone else got that problem i guess i know what it caused: i paired the bluetooth headset with my laptop after pairing it with the pocket pc. and although no service could be used (ms bluetooth stack) the S9 didnt use the PPC as standard music device but the laptop. after deleting the pairing from the laptop the S9 i could pair it to the ppc again.
about MDAIIIUser's problem: dont know any way of listening to music with the device turned off. i use AE Button to switch display off by double cklicking the green button or starting S2U2 by double clicking the red one. anyway, if display is switched off and i press a button on the bluetooth headset the display turns on again thats why i just lock the device and dont care if the display is on for some minutes in my pocket..
I'm on my second Dash because I thought that it was a hardware problem. However, my sound will randomly quick working after a few days or so (could be as many as 5 or 7 days). The phone works, but if you make a call, you can no longer hear it ringing. No sound is played through the media players and the system sounds won't respond. A reboot always fixes it, but it is still annoying. Does anyone know what process/service controls the sound in WM 6.1?
This happens in both the Kavana and Ricky ROMs.
Am I the only one?
I *might* have figured the problem out: bluetooth.
It's like my bluetooth isn't releasing my sound output BACK to the speaker at times. I cycled the bluetooth service off/on and the sound came back. Keep in mind that I am running the "Jetware Mobile" bluetooth extension (it allows my phone to correctly connect to my car's bluetooth system).
Perhaps it is the Jetware utility, perhaps it is still the bluetooth stack on the phone. I'll keep everyone posted as to my findings.
I could do this pretty easily with my old xperia. Now my Touch Pro 2 has a new crappy BT stack that won't let other programs handle it.
Is there any program like e.g. csdevctrl that will turn on bluetooth while receiving a call on Touch Pro 2. Is there a way to remove this BT stack and put the older one for compatibility reasons?
For "christ's sake" I can't even create a shortcut to turn it on manually. I have to navigate this horrid and slow BT stack UI to just turn it on.
Any ideas? Thanks.
