Just thought I should tell you guys my Daughter got the Dash as her first phone and about 2 months later she cracked the screen... I thought how irresponsible she was... well come to find out there is a known problem with the dash's screen breaking, I had kept the old Dash and it was now 6 months later... I told T-Mobile that it was a KNOWN flaw and it is as this is one of the reasons they came out with the Black Dash. I told them I wanted it replaced and they offered me a Dash or Blackberry Pearl 8120 or a Samsung as a replacement, I only had to pay for the shipment. Now you do have to be persistant with them as they will not want to do this. But a week later I got my phone and they let me keep the battery and all the accessories to my old Dash well worth the 10$ shipping fee. And not bad unless you want to do surgery on your phone and pay more?
Hello everyone,
I have one hell of a story to tell about one boy, two phones (the htc hd2 and the samsung vibrant), and one freakin' committed customer service team (T-Mobile's). OK, so I'll begin my story of how I ended up with a brand-new Vibrant for essentially 350 bucks. Bear with me here, it's a bit long. So, I originally purchased an htc hd2 way back in mid-June for 300 bucks on Craigslist. The phone ended up being defective because of a hardware issue, and because it happened to be under the "buyer's remorse" period, at least the way T-Mobile saw it, I was able to return it by mail for a brand new one for free. I was surprised when I called to learn that T-Mobile didn't require a single piece of information to verify that I was the original owner of the phone, all they saw was that an htc hd2 had magically been activated on such and such a date. So, I returned that hd2 and recieved a new one in a couple of days, which ended up being just as buggy as the last one, so I decided to abandon the hd2 altogether in exchange for the Samsung Vibrant. I called T-Mobile customer service today to setup the exchange for the vibrant, which would cost me 50 bucks since the hd2 cost 450 and the vibrant costs 500, and I was FINALLY told that they had no record of me ever buying an hd2 (I wonder why, lol). I then explained to them that I wasn't the original owner of the phone and that I had bought it from the original owner, but that the phone had been purchased only a few days before they sold it to me. They told me at first that I would have contact the original owner and get the 450 bucks credited back to there account. The only problem was that I had no way of contacting the original owner, and that they had switched carriers almost immediately after purchasing the hd2. After about four hours, and many many phone calls later, I called t-mobile one last time to explain my situation, keep in mind that I was totally honest the entire time, I reached a very nice customer service rep, and after explaining what had happened to me, and after speaking to her supervisor for over ten minutes, she told me that even though they almost never do this, that they would "take my word for it" and send the vibrant, no questions asked, for basically 50 bucks. I was over the moon considering that less than 5 minutes ago I had thought that I had thrown away 300 dollars. I would like to give some major props to T-Mobile's customer support, never in a million years would I have expected a customer service team work so hard to keep a a customer happy. Talk about going the distance. Well, that's my story. Tell me what you think, and what your experiences with them have been like.
Peace, bobofosho12
I got mine for $164 and i wasnt even due for a full upgrade. Got my phone around august. Even my sister which is due for a full upgrade has to pay more. So i think im super lucky except for the tax and all that

Yeah, its an online Special. However i Would Suggest your sister to call T-mobile and ask to be transfered to the Loyalty Department to get hers. because she will get a good deal as her contract is up...... They will give it to her at full Discount and provide her with a data plan of $24.99 a month. instead of $30.00 like you got... and she wont have to pay no upgrade fee's whatsoever.

Same here. I renewed my contract last year, so did my GF. We both are eligible for full discount so I jump on it right away.
I hate buying ANYTHING with a contract, I know that even though I might pay through the nose up front, i'm saving tons more than I would if I had a contract for two years. I just generally buy an "almost" brand new phone on someplace like Craigslist and then I return it to T-mobile and get a brand new one for free, hence what I did with the hd2. Just my strategy though.

I have the 24.99 data plan and i will thanks for the info
my story on getting the vibrant new WITHOUT a contract for $133. Please note, this cannot be duplicated anymore as the "loop hole" has been caught and closed. I noticed this post on slickdeals.net the 2nd day it had been posted:
http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2132124
So basically costco has the cell phone kiosk's which sell tmobile and a few other carriers. as we know, T-mobile offers and "even more plus" program with is NO contract. also as we know that if we went to tmobile and got a vibrant with this even more plus program is $500.
BUT for the first 3 or 4 days that costco sold the vibrant they were selling it for $250 with the "even more plus" plan or $99 with contract. EDIT( this $250 price was a wholesale price they were offering)
so went there and bought 2 samsung vibrants for 250$ each plus tax. ended up being about $540 by opening 2 new lines on the "even more plus" plan. note that this is different then the "even more" plan which is a contract. Even though "even more plus" is not a contract, costco would not sell the phone without an actual plan but thats ok because this "even more plus plan is no contract because normally you pay full price for the phone.
so then because the "even more plus" plan is not a contract, I called t mobile and told them that I want to cancel the even more plus plan and that I paid full price for the phone. (which i did pay costco's full price). they canceled the plans over the phone on the first try without any hassel (some people had a little trouble canceling)
So then i sold 1 on ebay for $485 including shipping and kept one for myself. After paying shipping, ebay listing fees, selling fees, and paypal fees. I came out basically paying the difference which is only about $130 for my new, NON contract vibrant
keep in mind I already have a tmobile contract from my mytouch, so i just put the sim card in the new vibrant and was good to go.
Costco and Tmobile both caught on to this within days, and now it went from 250 to 479 the day after i got mine.
so i basically ended up paying $130 for a New Vibrant, not subsidized, and non contract even less then if I had signed a new 2 year contract.
If so many people had not ONLY gotten this deal just to sell all the phones on ebay and craigslist, the deal probably would have lasted a little longer. (i just sold 1 to offset the cost of buying one for myself)
so keep in mind, this deal is now dead, and no one has had success trying to replicate it since the price change because costco and tmobile had caught on quickly.
Im still under contract with tmobile for another year because i bought mytouch last year. Wife's phone is still eligible for an upgrade I can use later this year
I got mine for $100 after $50 mail in rebate. I bought mine at Costco warehouse . It included the car charger, a carrying case and a Bluetooth headset.
still cant beleive you guys didnt just spam these forums spreading the good news on the price. so sad.
well thankfully, i got mine on bing cashback and so the phone might end up being $350 for me.
oh what i could have done with $100 extra, sigh
by the way did you need to be a costco member to get that price or could anyone get it?
I actually got mine for free, but in an extremely roundabout and lucky sort of way.
Got a Samsung Behold II with a new contract at the beginning of June for free from Letstalk.com. I won't rehash all the ridiculous problems I had with the phone, as it's fairly legendary at this point.
Had even more problems after the now infamous 1.6 OTA update, took my problems to T-Mobile corporate, and after 2 weeks worth of emails and phonecalls with their director of customer relations they basically convinced Samsung to toss me a Vibrant to make me happy enough to go away and leave them alone.
I sort of rode out the "perfect storm" here and was just in the right place at the right time. Still, this is the best free phone I've ever had!
Got mine for the same price as Alex.
i got mine for $534 after tax!
I have a Tilt2. Tonight the screen went black. The phone still works except the screen is dead. I have insurance. I am still five months from an upgrade.
I figure I will flash the rom back to stock and notify AT&T. I had the old Tilt before this phone. It was a tank. It survived being dropped in a pitcher of beer. I've never had to use my insurance before. Will they send me another Tilt2? Any chance they would let me upgrade early? I know they will negotiate if you are persistent. I was just wondering what you guys with more experience would try to do. Also, what phone should I press for? The Motorola Atrix looks cool, but I prefer having a keyboard.
Thanks for your help
Update:
The first customer service rep said no go on an early upgrade. It was after hours. I may try my luck with another rep tomorrow. She said the best she could do for an early upgrade would be September, which is only one month early. I will probably have to use the insurance policy. I guess I could sell the replacement phone on ebay in September when I'm eligible for a new phone. I watched a youtube video on replacing the digitizer, lcd, and screen. I wouldn't want to tackle that, and it will be just as cheap to pay the 50$ deductible for a replacement phone. At one time, the Tilt2 had a 125$ tier 2 deductible, but now, since it's old, it's a tier 1 50$ deductible phone. It still sucks though because the phone was in perfect condition when the screen went out. It's had a boxwave cover and an invisible shield screen protector from day one. It looks new.

May have started a slow corrosion process that poisoned the connectors on your lcd screen, slowly killing the bright life of your tilt 2 until an agonizing death months later. AND YOU DID NOTHING!!!!
*cough*
You can buy a go (prepaid) phone or find someone who has an old go phone. Pop your sim in there and you'll be functional. Assuming you tried doing a battery reset, etc.
Rumors are that ATT will be coming out with an android + keyboard phone sometime in the "near" future. You will, of course, wait as long as you can to get a new phone until giving in and selecting the Atrix. ATT will release the new android keyboard phone(s) 1 day after your 30 day return window expires. This will suck.
I ordered an Inspire...
However, I think I will return to sender. I called tonight, and they told me they would let me go back to my old plan once they receive the phone. I currently have unlimited data, and they wouldn't grandfather me in.
I believe he was referring to the old tilt being dropped into the pitcher, not the current one that is broken. Why would he call a broken device a tank?

They will give you the unlimited plan on the Inspire, if you are persistant. Other AT&T customers have had it done, so call them again and tell them that. Ask to talk to a supervisor or escalate it. Or hang up and call again until you get a rep that will give you the unlimited plan back.
They cannot force you into a tiered/limited plan just because you upgraded your device. But they may try to make it hard for you, so you give up and eat the crap they are shoveling. Or screw people that don't know any better. Just don't give up.
They may also give you some BS about how you can't get 4G (HSPA+) and still stay on the unlimited plan. This is also garbage, as I am still on the old unlimited plan, and get HSPA+. It might be coded as a unlimited 4G plan, so ask about that. Its the exact same thing as the old unlimited plan, they are just coding it different.
Post if this has happened to you, please.
I was available for upgrade and had gotten an EVO LTE through Wirefly. Ended up returning it, and got my refund about a week later. A few days after getting my refund, I got my upgrade eligibility back. About 3 weeks after that I ordered my S3 using my upgrade from Amazon, and the day after I placed my order I got an e-mail from Amazon saying they weren't able to activate my new device, but it wouldn't be a problem because I can simply call Sprint when I get it and have them activate it for me. So that's what I did. Now, about a month later, I check on the Sprint website and it says I'm still eligible for upgrade on this line. So I went to Amazon's site and used their checker, and it also says I'm available for upgrade.
Checked my statements and my balances and I was only ever billed the $149.99 for the device and I haven't gotten any e-mails about this issue or that I owe more money.
Did I slip through the cracks here? Anyone else have this happen before? Would be cool if I did xD
This happened to me when I was n ATT. They gave me two upgrades within one month on one line. Lol
It's happened to a lot of people before. Usually it goes away after a few days to a month. If amazon.com lets you buy one with a new contract, you can buy it for $150 and sell it on ebay for $500.
Good to know this sort of thing happens. I guess I got lucky then. Amazon says I'm eligible and so does Sprint, I think I might be good. Had to be related to that weird e-mail I got from Amazon saying they were unable to ACTIVATE my device. I'm not sure if I want to buy another phone and sell it. Don't really need the money. I'd prefer being able to upgrade to a quad-core S4 this coming Christmas LOL

Chances are that it'll be fixed within the next month like it was for other people, so I'd highly recommend seizing the opportunity ASAP.
this happened at T-Mobile with me and i almost told on myself but i caught on. They didn't notice i just got a new phone weeks ago. So i kept my phone and waited til gs2 came out and sold my old /new phone for 500 dollars easiest money i ever made. Thanks T-Mobile you guys rock lol.

sounds like ur eligibility status got lost in the shuffle of upgrading thru amazon to the LTE then returning it then ordering an S3. Im assuming Sprint restored ur eligibility after returning the LTE but never removed ur eligibility after u ordered the S3 and data got crossed between companies... if u wanna buy me an Gnex with ur "spare" upgrade i'll paypal u the money... LOL
Happened to us awhile back when I got a Hero for the wife. Got it at BestBuy and as a course of normal routine, I checked her upgrade status a few months later and it still showed she could upgrade. Went back and got her an OG EVO, then sold the Hero for same price as the upgrading to the EVO.
Most of the other carriers are ahead of the game. What happened to T-Mobile?
Based on their past record, they probably won't announce a BOGO deal until after the trade-in offers expire. Perhaps they will offer BOGO for the next holiday, such as memorial day...
I was surprised that they went with a trade-in offer this time, as their new favorite deal seemed to be just BOGO's last year...
Really looking to switch to t mobile and get the s9, but waiting on the bogo deal. Asked a store and the guy said in 2 weeks. Of course I don't know how accurate that is, but would be perfect for me and my dad to hop on it, especially since he can get the senior plan for 70 bucks for 2 lines.. Lol
Sprint does NOT have a BOGO. They only offer a lease one get a free lease on a second. So a LOGO, only you never own the phone, you only get to make perpetual payments.

But you get within 1% reliability of the other guys!
It's live. But not the good one with the prepaid MasterCard. Seems like you have to keep the new line active for the full 2 years.

Actually , their "trade in" is a bit iffy. You get a S9 for a trade in, and in return they offer $12.89 refund per month for 24 months IF you finance the S9.
I handed them over a S7 I had from 2 years ago, and in return I pay $17.11 per month for the S9. It's not like I can pay $360 instead if $720 and own the phone. The quick way out is pay $720 and keep the line to keep getting the refund, or lose it. In my case, I don't mind as I can't get a better international deal than TMO elsewhere for the price, and I travel a lot..

Man, that sucks... I purchased mine from Samsung directly... Tmo version was about $420 with the trade-in, and luckily they only make you pay tax on that amount (not the 700+ price).
I also wanted to put it all on my credit card as one payment because anything I purchase with it automatically gets 1 extra year of warranty... (chase saphire reserve)
Any idea about how long these sales last on the bogo? Been waiting for this, but now my father left on a trip and can't do it till around April 24th and he gets the senior discount so I just get on his plan. But who knows if the sale will be then. My biggest dilemma is losing my phone number from straight talk as I'm on straight talk now and want to save the number, but if he goes to a store elsewhere and ports my number over, I'll be phoneless for a few weeks til I get my Sim card back from them
You can get a new line without porting your number over. Then when you get to your sim card or whatever then you can go to the store and finish the port
