Hello all,
Right now i'm using, the schapps Rom 3.30 portuguese, but unfortunately, it doesn't have car charging support. Schapps, don't know how to do it. The Faria Rom's, have this issue solved, and i´ve asked on his thread, if he can share the knowledge, but till now, no answer.
Anyone knows the solution and can share it with the Rom's developer's?
Theres any .cab, or registry solution to fix this?
Thks in advance

What does it mean "car changing support"? AFAIK you just connect miniUSB plug from you power supply in the car to Hermes munuUSB port and it starts charging - it doesn't matter it the power comes from car, computer or AC power supply. Is there anything I miss here? How the device could see any difference? Some special "vibrations" on the power current?

whilst that may seem a funny comment to make, i've noticed that mine and a freinds phone "deciding" on not bothering to take a charge from a car charger seemingly randomly. Cant see how it could be a hardware thing so can only assume that theres something in the software which instructs the phone to charge should a cable be plugged in.

it might be your car battery, is it in good condition and is it giving out the correct volts, i remember that i couldnt charge my laptop from my car because the voltage was too low.
some rom work, other dont..
It's not so simple. In some roms, after i connect the cable, the PDA start immediately charging, on others it wont. It's a software problem. Faria have corrected it on the roms that he's making. Some other don't.
(it's not a car battery problem...)

It's a hardware/power management "Feature" - the reason for it and the solution is discussed in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=277742&page=3
I'll be getting my soldering iron out at the weekend.
Just before you start burning yourself ;-) this is what I think happens...
I had mine plugged into my car charger the other day and it was charging away merrily (it wasn't whistling or anything...) and then sometime later on, I noticed that the charging light wasn't on.
I assumed at first it was the charger that was broken but I tried it again a couple of days later and it was working again so I put it down to a loose connection and carried on.
It stopped charging again later on but this time, I noticed what did it - it was because I'd received a message (or missed a call...one of 'em Now, I've not yet check if it did stop charging or if the indicator was just blinking for the message or something but it's worth checking before you start taking your phone apart
Cheers,
Smiffy.
This happens on mine (black 2.0) all the time. A soft reset will get it going again, so it looks like a software thing - and yes, receiving a text message seemed to kill the charge at any point too.
Car and AC mains chargers that worked with the HTC Wizard don't always work well with the TyTN. They work fine if the TyTN is completely powered off (hold power button down for a few second seconds and do a full shut down). But if the TyTN operating system is running and the phone is on or in standby, it only charges the first time after a soft reset. If it goes into standby, then it doesn't charge any more. This is an issue in software - the TyTN is checking for certain wiring of the charger and certain pins having the right voltages on them.
Faria's ROM truly fixed this somehow in the ROM. Unfortunately I had to soft reset Faria's ROM every day, so went back to Black and stability.

I'll be taking the usb plug in the car charger apart and soldering it - not the phone
Shorting the pins (in the charger - not the phone) as described in the thread I linked to should resolve all of these issues.
I have used this method - It work
I have the same problem with car and home (not HTC) chargers.
I've found
If charging in the car all is ok until the power is cut, then it only charges whilst off until the TYTN is soft reset.
This looks to me like there is a software / powercontroller confilct. It is a little confusing but see the scenarios below;
Soft reset TYTN, leave it off. Plug in to cigarette charger, turn TYTN on/off all is fine.
Turn off TYTN and unplug, all is fine, plug back in (TYTN off) will still charge when TYTN on.
Turn TYTN on, unplug, will not charge whilst on anymore until soft reset but will charge whilst off.
This is the same if I turn the ignition to power the lightere socket.
However, another spanner in the works, if I pull out the charger even with the device off and re-insert it it stops charging until soft reset.
What seemd to work best was to do a soft reset whilst the unit is charging and powered on. After that I was able to unplug, plug in even when the unit was on, turn ignition off/on etc... It only reverted back to not charging when I removed the charger from the socket as it was charging.
These are my findings and I presume each charger will be different.

Sadly no news from Faria
i've done lot's of research and haven´t found anything to fix this.
It seems that Faria is the only that know what to do.
still waiting.

A Call to Faria
Ok, I've read a lot about this and no doubt, is a soft related problem.
I have asked about this in various threads and at the moment there are only 3 solutions:
-Tweak the USB cable
-Buy a special charger
-Install any of the Faria's roms.
Faria, Please, can u share your soft solution?
I' using now the Schaps Spanish Rom...
So, after my previous car journey with the Desire as navigator (forum. xda-developers. com/showpost.php?p=6075788&postcount=11) I did some investigating to find out what was happening. (In brief: I was using Google nav while on car power, and it wasn't charging.)
Firstly, the micro-USB cable shipped with the phone does not work with a car charger. I have tried with two different makes of car, and on both occasions, the power seems to be draining from the phone faster than usual. It would be great to hear from anyone else who has experienced this, or from someone who has been able to use their cable successfully in their car while having both 3G and GPS on.
After doing a bit of research on this, it seems that the Tytn had the same issue, which had something to do with the sync properties of the cable. I've tried other cables and the best i can get is to have it charging, but not enough to maintain full power while using 3G and GPS. Hopefully, this can be remedied by getting a dedicated Desire car charger, cos if not the Desire would be useless as a navigator for long journeys.
Secondly, it does not trickle charge to stay at 100% when the cable is connected, not just in a car but also on mains power. When it reaches full charge it just stops, the indicator light shines green and that's it! So, going back to the nav scenario, even if it could charge properly with delivered cable, once it reached full capacity it would stop charging and start to drain, while still showing green, either until you disconnected the charger and replaced it (if you realised what was happening), or until it died on you (if you didn't).
I can't believe this is how it was designed to behave. If so, for what reason? To preserve the battery? I would rather have a battery that trickle charged and lasted half as long, than a battery that didn't, cos I find the latter to be more of a day to day nuisance.
I'm on the old tmo ROM. It would be interesting to know if people with other ROMs experience anything different.
A couple days ago it was working fine, however I noticed it gradually charged slower and slower to the point where, even when it's on the charging cradle, it loses charge. Now, whenever I put it on the charging cradle, the screen won't even turn on, and the device will not power up. The light on the bottom of the charger lights up, but the device receives no charge. I'm using the default Moto 360 connector cable, and I've even tried more powerful adapters, but still nothing. I decided to listen to any advice I might could get here before I call Motorola support.
my moto 360 is not turning on . can anyone troubleshoot this issue?
Mine got stuck in a discharge loop, was discharging on the charger, the charger was not recognizing the watch (charger light off).
The direct usb connection powered on the watch but did not charge it. No leaving it on/off the charger worked. It was dead.
The fix was to take it apart and unplug/replug the battery. It started charging normally afterwards. Now it won't stay closed, and the face keeps coming off, I press down on it from time to time and maybe I'll use some superglue

Couldn't we talk to Motorola about this? Shouldn't this be considered a manufacturers defect?
I talked to Motorola support, and after hours of phone calls, they said they would replace mine for free. But because the watch was in such high demand, I couldn't get a replacement watch for like 2 months. They seemed shocked that the device had stopped working, and it seems there aren't too many cases of this happening. I'd recommend calling Motorola support before doing anything drastic like taking apart the device.
I don't have warranty, so I can't call for help.
Mine got stuck while trying another Qi charger, so I guess only the charging chip got crazy, the watch worked normally until it drained the battery.
The charger has 2 modes: low power to signal the device it's on the charger then the device (be it phone or watch) should signal back to the charger it's present and the charger goes on the high power output to actually charge the device.
My watch had the charging chip blocked so it didn't signal back to the charger which remained in the low power state and did not provide enough power to charge the watch.
Factory reset and even USB reset did not reset the charging circuitry, only a hard reset by pulling out the battery did the trick.
By the way to take it apart it's not needed to remove the dreadded cracky plastic back, only hold by the strap and rock the case upward/left/right. Tough fingernails and a little help from a plastic wedge near the button and in the opposite side did it.
Hello everyone,
I have my old willy here on a drawer and i just remembered i could use it as a GPS tracker for my car in case some day (hopefully not) someone will try to take it away from me.
The plan is just to leave it hidden somewhere inside the vehicle and have it always on probably with a power bank connected too for when the battery drains. The powerbank itself is connected to the car power to start charging when the car is on.
There are tons of different apps to handle this so the problem isn't that. The problem is the "always on"... There are some periods when i only use my car once a week or less and even then it is not enough to charge the power bank completly. So there are times when the phone would be with no battery left and shuts down.
All i want is a way for it to auto power on when some charge is initiated (ie. the car is started and the battery starts charging). Simply put, is there any way for the phone to turn on when it is connected to a charger?
I have found some people that could acheive this by modifing the lpm file in /system/bin but that file is not present in my CM7 wildfire. This file controls the launch of that ugly battery screen that shows when we charge a phone if it is powered off, the replace that screen launch by a boot command. Where in our wildfire is that file present?
If it is not possible, how much time would you gess the battery will last beeing with the screen off? What cappacity of powerbank would be needed to last for, say, 2 weeks?
Thank you very much

Firstly, this is a pretty cool idea =)
Secondly you would need to work out how slowly the battery discharges. So say on idle with no screen time you get 2 days, with a stock the battery of say 1300mAh. In order to run two weeks you would need 7 full charges. So 7x1300mAh should be a 9100mAh battery.
Now as far as your power on is concerned its the recovery on htc devices that deal with charging while off and low power management as far as i know. So you could try look to the kernel or the clockworkmod source code for a way to power on or you could try make a device that activated the power button once the car engine was turned on, depressing it for say a full minute then releasing. When your android is already powered on the screen turning on will be the only side effect.
I will keep thinking =)

You kinda answered my question. If that math is right, if I connect the phone to a 20000mAh powerbank I have a month of life to give it. I can live with that. Not the "cleanest" solution but not bad. I use the car at least once a week so....
If I hardwire it to the car battery which is 60000mAh it would last even longer
Some device to push the button would be too unpractical, it has to be a software solution like the one I talked about. People have done this in all of the samsungs and also I have seen in a Sony x10 mini, all done modifying the bootloader. Unfortunately, my knowledge about how to fiddle in bootloaders, kernels or source codes is laughable at best, so I need some kind of walk-through...
Imagine beeing able to hide it inside the sun visor with a little peek hole... Instant mugshot!

I have no experience with LG phones - I've been an HTC guy forever so there's a bunch of stuff here I'm not used to. I picked up the black leather sprint version from bb last night, charged it overnight, and activated this morning. I've been playing around with it all day, and there are a few things that are confusing me. I'm guessing that I'll need to wait until root for some/all of these.
1 - Is there any way to change the opacity of Smart Notice? We've got that great screen, and Smart Notice just blots it out.
2 - Is there any way to turn off the boot sounds?
3 - For the camera, is there any way to set a review time after the pic is taken?
4 - Where's the GPS toggle? Is it just always on?
5 - How do you set the phone to silent? There's no silent sound profile - is priority only interruptions the same as silent (meaning that the phone is silent, but my alarm clock app will still go off)?
6 - The led glows red while it's charging with the screen off, but when the screen turns comes on, the led goes away even though it's still charging - is there anyway to keep that charging led with the screen on?
And this is why I think my phone might be defective;
1 - It gets pretty hot doing normal things (not gaming)
2 - It takes FOREVER to charge. Even doing lightweight things like browsing and whatnot, the battery will still deplete even though it's plugged in to ac. I have it plugged into ac right now at 52% and it says that it will take 4 hours to fully charge from here. I'm pretty sure that if I leave the screen on while plugged in, it won't charge at all.
3 - When I plug the stock included charger into usb, I get a message that says "Use standard charger to charge faster". I get this message on usb even on cables that I know should work fine, and again, this happens even on the stock cable.
This battery thing is driving me nuts because I can't use the phone - that's not normal, right? The problem is that I'd have to exchange it at BB, and apparently none of the stores in my area have any.
