HP iPaq h4155 custom WM6 rom - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

There are a fair number of use with h4000 series devices that are unable to find any custom ROMs beyond the PPC2003 first edition stock firmware HP provided.
The device carries 32mb ROM which probably only accommodate a stripped WM6, but this in itself would be a huge step up and much appreciated.
Is there any way that current rom kitchen efforts could incorporate the h4155 device and it's orphaned brethren? Those of us in the shadows would be quite thankful.
Cheers.

Here is a cooked rom from a related device.

This isn't a Crossbow ROM, it's still WM5.
Crossbow is WM6
Yes, thats is just a AKU 2.3 rom for Universal with some Vista icons throwed in
I m currently using that ROM too and is simply the best I have used so far
Hello Kamaldeep. Can you share your experience of indra rom. do you find it better than Jwright and is it very fast without memory leakage.
Windows Mobile CE 6.0
Windows Mobile CE 6.0 is available for purchase / trial for 180 days. It comes with the source code and Visual Studio 2005 plugin.
So if there are any developers out there wishing to make modules and ROM's for any mobile device this is your chance. I personally am encoding and programming a Windows Crossbow ROM.
I think many programmers have already made Windows CE 6.0 ROM's out there and testing them before releasing it to public.
If there are any microsoft members around from TechNet or MSDN they would have good answers.
So i urge members to download the Windows CE 6.0 180 trial pack and play around till you are successful in building a new OS ROM for the Universal.
Actually this post is not only for the universal but all mobile devices.
Remember: (To run Crossbow / CE 6.0 it is important to have a Bulverade processor or higher) and the RAM of the Universal.
Hint: HP iPAQ 6315 etc,,, already have a Windows Crossbow ROM

How to cook own rom

Hi
I am intrested in making my zinc WM6 ... but I couldnt find any in cooked rom for it. Just wondering is there any how to in making cooked rom? also where can i find the base WM6? Would be very grateful if anyone can share the know how ... eace:
for most devices cooking mean adding programs one wants in extented rom so they autoinstall
there is no such thing as a base rom all roms are unique to the device they were made for
thanks for the expalination ... if i want to make a rom for my zinc, how do i replace the existing WM5 rom to wm6 rom? and where can i find the wm6 rom? can i use the hermes wm6 rom i mean the posted wwe, cht, jp roms? as the base of the wm6 rom ? TQ
no only a custom zink wm6 rom if such a rom exist would do
ok ... but then again for others like wizard or hermes there r still no WM6 rom right? so how did do they come out with a WM6 rom?? thanks again
a beta test rom was leaked for some devices
like many of the wm5 roms for devices like himalaya and blue angel were leaked
but some devices will get official roms from htc believe hermes is one of those
Um, very interesting. Rudegar, seems like you know a lot about this ROM business. (myself, i'm unexperienced, but would like to know something). So, tell me:
I personally own a Dell Axim x50v WM5 A02, and while Dell would no longer provide any, since they just discontinued those models, i was searching for the custom upgrades.
So, do you need to have a leaked base WM6 ROM specifically designed to be run on an Axim, in order to built a WM6 Custom ROM for Dell Axim, or can you still make one from scratch, AND i mean use any leaked WM6 ROM (such as the one for the Hermes), and then rewrite some lines of code in order to adjust it to the different drivers installed on an Axim?
Some Russian guys from 4PDA made a WM5 AKU 3.5.2 custom upgrade for the Dell Axim by adjusting it to its drivers (they are experiencing some issues with them thou). While it is not WM6, do you need to have a leaked AKU or something for that device as well, or is it just for running an entirely different operating system on it? WM5 itself is a natural OS running on a Dell Axim x51v.
But they also claimed that they can make in the same way Wm6 upgrade for Dell Axim. Without the already leaked WM6 ROM for it, is it really possible?
in theroy i guess you can make it from scratch but it's suppose to be diff
read this for info about the topic in general
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296728&highlight=drivers+AMD+WM6
So, does upgarding just the AKU, which was never released for the device, requires the leaked version as a whole OS?

WM6 ROM creation for x50 non-VGA

Im wondering if its possible to create a rom for an x50 using WM6. Im new to this crowd but i dont have a problem getting my hands dirty. I have some experiance creating and hacking non WM phones so i figure i can probably keep myself from drownding.
I know almost all of the new PPC's and Smartphones are VGA, does WM6 only run on VGA phones? also it seems the only roms out there for WM6 are for VGA devices, is that the reason?. Im also wondering how hard it would be to modify an existing WM6 rom for the x50v so that it would work with the x50(if thats possible).
my PPC is 520mhz with 128mb ram QVGA
I would greatly appreciate some help/nudge in the right direction.
Kind of duplicate thread of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=323523
The process is probably the same as building a rom for a x50v, which is easier than doing it for an x51v as there is an issue for creating/modifying xip. However You can check if you can directly re-use x50v xip.
KINDA...helps
The thread helped alittle, pointed me to the tools. However, i still dont know if its possible and i dont want to try it and have the result of a bricked PDA.
I don't see why it would not be possible. You need to extract your nb0 to start, since you have it, you can always recover from a corrupted rom. I had already extract file from a x51 rom with success using those tools. I don't have any x50, x51 device to try it. But I already modified several x51v rom using those tools to be able to fix the CF bug on Football A17 rom.

Hi
Well...
I tried to start up looking into the differences in the roms but i can't even open them
Ill try some more but i think it's just waist of time. U really need a good coder like football to do this...
Let's hope someone can do the magic for x50/x51 like he did with the v editions
By the way, isn't there a possibility to port a x51v to a x51 rom ?

Extended Rom for s620?

I've been helping some friends out upgrading their WM5 devices to WM6 (the vendors didn't support an upgrade), and I noticed that these PocketPC devices have an extended rom with all types of custom cabs. Does the s620 support this as well? I'm trying to do come rom cooking, but I don't know where to start. Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Robb

Original factory WM6.1 German ROM for Samsung SGH-i780 available?

I have been reading through this forum a lot and found many helpful hints, thank you very much.
But somehow I am missing one point: Why do the experts spend so much time on cooking a WM6.1 ROM for the i780 for example? In the end with partly doubtful results considering the quantity of reports about bugs and even bricked phones? Wouldn't it be much easyer and saver to extract and use the original factory 6.1 ROM from an already officially upgraded phone?
Did anybody extract the complete German 6.1 factory ROM (Phone, PDA,Boot) from a i780? I would be very greatful.
