hi all,
i'm going to buy Asus A696. the problem is that it is not yet on the market in our country so i'm thinking to buy it from another country - it means different language version of WM5.
my question is: with coming update of WM6 would i be able to flash the device with different language version than previously installed WM5? all i would need is WM6 in english, i don't even need my mother language..

me too i try to change spanish to italian language, and write me the same in italian: "Language doesn't match"

i got an asus p535 and wm6 spanish pre-installed.. and i've just make a dump of my rom... (dump rom asus p535 español wm6)

What we can do is:
1. attach PDA to the PC with USB cable and wait for ActiveSync to sync
2. open a command prompt
3. run pdocread -t
4. run pdocread -l
5. run pdocread 0x0 0xXXX nk.nb0 where 0xXXX is the size of the rom returned in the step 3 (for our WM5 should be 0x2200000)
6. wait until the process finish
Now we got a copy of our original PDA firmware
To upgrade the PDA back to the origiginal or to another version we got, we have to:
1. attach the PDA to the PC with USB cable and CLOSE ActiveSync
2. press on the PDA the keys POWER+ENTER+RESET, the PDA bootloader will start in upgrade mode by USB and wait for the firmware from the USB
3. use usbloader to upload our nk.nb0 or any other firmware we got to the PDA
This is what I have read from that forum, but I've not tested jet cause I have only the copy of my firmware and waiting that someone make a copy of his english PDA to be able to upload the WM6 WWE update.

I have bought the german version of a696 and I am stuck. I can`t change the leanguage to english. None of the solutions for other devices seem to work with a696. Could somebody please help me out ??? I am a winhex noob and the whole thing is killing me!!!

take the original asus 696 WM6 WWE upgrade and change the value if you
have the same original value

I am testing it now. The first part is all right no language problem, now there is a version problem. Update older than the pda.

this tools dont change the version number.
have you try to change the version number yourself ?
A626/A686/A696 V03.0735.00 English version
159C: DF 02 (2DFh=735)
change to
159C: E0 02 (2E0h=736)
Thanks to "l0v3r" I changed the language of my pda.
I use "AsusWM6Patch_1_0_2", my Pda is A696.

'd like to downgrade my 696 Hebrew 735 firmware to English 719.
I downloaded the 719 English ROM from Asus website and changed all hex codes
according to this thread to show the same codes as 735 Heb + changed the version check to 736 (2E0h) on 159C...
ran the Upgrade Tool WW.exe and..nothing. it just did a hard reset. What am I doing wrong.......?
or better off, does anyone have 696 English ROM dump (taken with procread) with WM6 prior to 735...?

I have I900XHHG4/AEHG4 and I would like just to change PDA part only from French to English. Furthermore I would like to make an image of my current ROM that I can restore in case of varranty issues (try to explain to French that their mobile speks English not very wise ).
How can I do it?
What is wrong
Step:
1. I am using GrandPrix like in attached picture.
2. I click Detect
3. I connect Omnia to USB
4. I reset omnia by clicking on the button reset
result: Omnia normaly loads and GrandPrix does not detect omnia.
What am I doing wrong?
interchange 3 & 4 but do it quick if you connect it past the samsung omnia splash screen it won't work.

I did the procedure from above but I had to install win XP. First I used laptop with USB1.0 with Win XP and it didn't work.

I am lately frustrated with my ASUS 320 that i bought in Italy from the cellphone provider TIM Italy.I was tol it 'll operate in English however the whole thing is in Italian , i just can hear you folks telling me to got it changed, yes unfortunately its a bit lately for that and quite honest the phone with the functions seems great.
So this is what i am trying to do and where i am failing.
From several memeber (thanks to all of them ) i tried flashing the WWE in diferent ways .First i have been told to use the chinese firmware's autorun.exe (aparently this ain't checking any version ) and using the WWE's bin file in the same folder and flash it.This method unfortunately failed and gives the message that i need to ensure that the language has to be the same as the phone ones.During soft reset at the startup screen , it fails again.
So at this point ASUS told me to sent it to their service center and to be installed with the english version of the windows mobile 6.1 , they said its a licensing thing and i had to pay for it.
So i am really at my last nerve i guess , is there anyone , anyone who can help me out here.Once again the device is from the italian cellphone service company TIM italia the language is Italian and i want to change (flash ) it to English start up screen gives
" ROM 4.10.0_0718_ITA_ITA"

Thanks for the reply , but unfortunately thats the sit where i am getting my ROM's and , again , tried it this morning and still the same problem happens.It tells me to make sure that its the same language , or durung soft reset (holding volume button down while resetting) it saiys failed .

when the installation process finish (I'm not sure if I disconnects the PDA from the base before finish the process because now on the screen appears the following.
Serial + hp + vG.39 but change when I conect it to the computer to : USB + hp + vG.39
I don't now what is the next step or what I can do but the thing is that now the PDA is inoprative.
please can you help me to repair or finish the process. ¿Any one have or can tell me if there are any tutorial to made it?.Thank you very much in advance for your cooperation. and sorry for my bad english
