Diamond 1 (Unlocked) - Flash with Diamond 2 Firmware? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

Hey,
I would like to flash my diamond 1 (first edition) with an official firmware of the new diamond 2 (second edition).
My phone is unlocked, I can use this firmware? You know I will work?
I think if it fails, I can install the old fimware.
See you
blue_think

it will surelly fail,... Diamond1 is diamond1 and diamond2 is diamond2

I concur, if the Hardware was the same you could do that, but there are several internal devices different. I fyou do that you will end up with a bricked diamond.

i think if it fails you'll own a beautiful paperweight

Shouldn't brick it with SPL
Surely phones are less likely to brick with an SPL

If you only flash OS, no problem. If you have hard-spl installed your device will be almost unbrickable.

You can usually restore an old ROM even without Hard-SPL. It makes it a little easier because you can flash even ROMs that are not intended for your device (for example HTC Rom to Vodafone Compact GPS).

Sure. It is a replacement bootloader made by DES and later by Olipro. You'll find it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1239088
LVSW offers it as a download as well, I don't know why he didn't include it in the update itself (nbh).

Yes, original ROM updates are what I call full updates: Bootloader, Splashscreens, OS, Radio. However they will only overwrite Olipro's Hard-SPL if you use Soft-SPL (sspl) for flashing. Keep that in mind if you want to send your device in for warranty repairs...
Enough noob questions answered For details use search, its not hard.
OK OK one more thing...
If I flash from mun_rus rom back to WM05 and take device for warranty... thay will not accept it?
If you flash it properly (load SSPL first, then run official update) they will have no way of telling the difference.
Obviously this only works if you have access to the official full update.

If your phone is the S300+ (SFR version of Trinity) it's gonna be hard. No SFR ROM is available yet. So you can find the OS part over here and you can save your extended ROM, but it seems to be hard to restore exactly as the same.
I`m just asking out of couriosity...
Flashed to muns SE rom works like a charm...

Latest WWE ROM version ?

I think there are some different ROM versions for the diamond already.
Mine is:
ROM: 1.34.831.1 WWE
Date: 5/25/08
Radio: 0.93.25.NS16
Protocol version: 52.24.25.08H
It is problematic & slow and I have already had to hard reset twice.
Are there more recent versions available ?
Latest is 1.35.xxx
Date 6/7/08
But it's not availible yet.
Found a post with this info about the poster's phone:
ROM version 1.35.401.3 WWE
ROM date 05/28/08
WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.19588 (Build 19588.1.1.4)
Radio: 0.93.25.NS26
Protocol version: 52.26.25.09H
Anything newer that this ?

Not really that it's not safe, it just won't upgrade. If you try it you get the "model ID error" and it does a soft-reset. No harm just no upgrade.
Hi guys.
I'm new on these kind of mobile devices. I'm waiting for my touch diamond to arrive.
Question: If the rom isn't upgradeable like new firmwares and such, how is HTC suppose to solve bugs and improve the devices ? If so, what kind of upgrades does HTC provide in the future to improve it ?
Thanks.

It will upgrade all firmware for the same device nationality, i.e. you can upgrade a diamond-HK with latest diamond-HK ROM, or diamond-UK with latest UK ROM. You just can't (at least not yet) load an HK ROM on a UK diamond and vice versa.

Got another question, perhaps only someone that already owns a diamond can answer.. does the English version brings more T9/XT9 dictionaries installed ? I've been searching the forums and it's not clear. Thing is, i ordered the English version since PT won't be available so soon, will i have the Portuguese T9 installed ?
I'm thinking I'm in real trouble with that and from what I've read on the forums it's not easy to add new dictionaries..
Cheers.

Rom 1.35707.3 Wwe?

Just received my New Diamond 2 hours ago from China. The ROM is 1.35.707.3 WWE dated May 28, 2008, Protocol 52.26.25.09H, and the Radio is 0.93.25.NS26.
Is this ROM newer that the ones available in the forum?
I tried to run MIOMap3 and TeleType GPS on it but didn't work. So I'm thinking of reflashing it with ROM WWE_1.37.405.1_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.26a.25.09_1.00.25.03.
Or should I keep it?
Is fo then why MIOMAP does'n work?
Teletype will not run on the diamond no matter what rom you use. Can't answer to MioMap as I don't use it but I understand that it is the same as iGO8 which will not run on the diamond. TomTom 6 or 7 and Garmin XT work.
Your OS is a newer build but your radio is older.

Thanks for your swift reply.
I read in some forums that Destinatior works fine as well as Garmin.
The problem is that only IGO/Miomap and Teletype are only S/W that have a detailed map for Egypt (where I live).
On the ROM side, do you suggest that I upgrade the Radio?
Thanks again
You have an 1.35 version, so its older then the 1.37 version. So upgrade everything. The 1.35 stock i got was very bad.
Sorry I didn't notice it

I am in the same situation here.
I received same device with same firmware from China, just yesterday !
Have you managed to upload the new firmware ? (1.37.xxx)
I would be very interested in too.......
Please have a look at the forum, everything you need is there.

Do you think they implemented any hardware improvements in the new stock?
I have the option right now of buying a Touch Diamond with the 1.35.707 ROM. Should I wait for new stock with the 1.37.405 ROM?

No they havent and they wont. The only Diamond that will be different to the Asian/UK/European models will be the American version which will support a few missing bands that the current Diamond does not have. Those missing bands are barring American customers from using 3G.

Don't worry. I returned my previous phone with a Dutch T-Mobile ROM and they didnt notice. They just reflashed it / swapped it out....
well tmobile pulled me up on a flashed n95 and said it wasn't in warranty so dont want to risk it again.
My friend had 1 and when i flashed hard spl for him his was on 1.37
Just put that rom and the 1.37 stock spl and it will do the job.
Just 1 quick question why do you want to return the diamond? any problems?

SPLs are HTC produced.
No operator has it's "own" private SPL (afaik).
So SPL version 1.01 (random number) is exacty the same for all operators.
okay, so i'm not realy into all this hardspl-stuff ;D
i thought it was also providing me from flasing original HTC-Stuff on branded phones ;D
sry for newbie question its my first WM
but thank you for stating this out ;-)

Hard SPL won't allow you flash any other SPL..
You'd need a Soft SPL (sSPL) to do that.
Basicly you take the Hard SPL kit.
Replace the hard-SPL nbh with a factory-SPL.nbh and flash that.
(don't know if anybody has posted any "factory-SPL.nbh" for diamond yet)
After flashing the factory SPL you can reflash your shipped ROM to bring the device into Factory condition.
okay so i mixed up with soft and hard spl...
so thanks again, now i got it!(i hope ;D)

flashing o2 touch hd with htc rom

Hi,
I own a o2 touch hd ROM 1.14.207.2 (24011) GER and would like
to flash the hd with htcs ROM _HTC Touch HD_MR_2009_RUU_BlackStone_HTC_GER_1.56.407.2_Radio_52.60.25.33_1.12.25.16DE_Ship.exe
Will this work? I'm a bit unsure, cause when I fill in the HDs serialnumber
at htcs supportwebsite it says: Sorry, this update is not suitable for
your device.....
Maybe this just means that the update will just 'unbrand' my o2 htc.
Thanks to you in advance,
Marq
1. Hardspl 1.56 olinex (connect with activy sync)
HD Reboot with ugly colors
wait for connect to activy sync
2. install new rom (from rapidshare)
That was fast!
You're really sure? With that Hardspl from OliNex would it be possible to flash
to one of the nice WM6.5 ROMS?!
Marq
Once you patched the bootloader with HardSPL or USPL you can flash any 1.56 and above HD-compatible ROM, including the one you mention in first post, and the 6.5 ROMs based on 1.56.
Changing your mobile world... forever!

As everyone is stating, it will do what you ask and to be honest, it will put a spin your mobile world!
I've been doing what your about (or done already) for about 6 months now and love it! HTC Touch HD is the best phone since (a very long time) and from o2 it was free just before Xmas'08 with unlimited on-line usage... gotta love o2! Have fun and read ALL instructions twice and follow exact!
Jep, that motivates a lot! I'll try to do my best.
oops, I got here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone_Flash3 and really read carefully, and now I'm confused... Should I use OliNex HSPL above or below 154? Surely my question sounds to cautious, but I don't wanna brick my HD by my own failures.
Thanks again,
Marq
As I wrote before: Should I use OliNex HSPL above or below 154? Still unsure...
...by the way, it worked! OliNex Hspl 1.56
You could have used USPL. At least it worked for my o2 Touch HD and I don't even use a German Rom or a stock Rom.
I don't want to use HSPL because you could loose your warranty and the HD is not cheap.

If it would come to a warrant issue it would not matter which method you where flashing your ROM with, the safest way would be just to flash it back to the version originally installed on your device
That's correct, I talked to my o2 dealer (very cool guy) when I got my HD and he affirmed, that you could flash it back to the orig or actual version. btw, o2 informed, that the next branded O2 HD ROM which should be this one from HTC _HTC Touch HD_MR_2009_RUU_BlackStone_HTC_GER_1.56.407.2_Radio_52.60.25.33_1.12.25.16DE_Ship.exe and will be available around June.
