[Q] SDcard problem

Hi,
Searched the forum without finding anything I can use.
Got a new SDcard, a Kingston 8 gb class 10. I mounts ok in Android but will not in recovery CWM 3x
I used Gparted as I normally do do make the fat32 and ext4 partitions. Tried formating in an other android phone but it will not mount in recovery.
Anybody with a god tip ?
And both partitions are primary?
Dont know about Gparted,(never used it myself) but I also changed my sd-card two days ago, and I used Minitools partition program, to format FAT32 ann make EXT3. Worked like a charm... after following below steps.
For at beholde en nuværende ROM, og skifte SD kort uden at flashe og det hele:
(translated: to keep present ROM and change sd-card without flashing)
1/ Make a full nandroid backup
2/ Now make a full backup of your sdcard via windows
(copy all the **** – including the new nandroid backup)
3/ Insert new sdcard
4/ Boot up your system.it looks ugly and most stuff is missing. (*spring resten over og flash=skip rest)
5/ Get rom manager from market
6/ Format sdcard with it – 512mb ext, 0mb swap
7/ Go to recovery, switch on usb mount, copy your saved sdcard on it,
including that nandroid backup
8/ Go to advanced, reboot recovery
9/ Restore your nandroid backup
Done!
*Spring resten over, hvis du har lavet format og ext inden,
og hvis du installer ny ROM ved opstart!!
(*Skip rest, if U have formatted and made a ext, and flash new ROM at boot)

SDCard problems, i screwed up

posted this on a dutch forum but i'll think this is the best place to ask those sort of things
i tried to make some partitions on my sdcard to make sure A2SD works well. now, did that with EASEUs. At that point, i was able to copy and write things on my sdcard.
Well, i put the card in my phone and that's where the horror started: it couldn't mount. Tried to access it in Recoverymode and it said: "E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (No such file or directory) E: Can't mount SDCARD:"
I thought maybe the partitions failed so i got my sdcard in my pc again and format it to fat32 by windows. Took up maybe an hour (16gb card) but i got still the same error: i cant access it.
I took another sdcard (2gb) and it worked as a charm. And: the 16gb card works well on my pc. What have i done and how can i fix it?
Okay, i'm screwed. Ik wilde ook even partities fixen op mijn sdkaart om A2SD goed aan de praat te krijgen, vervolgens stop ik de kaart in mijn telefoon en herkent ie 'm niet. Als ik de kaart wil mounten in recovery zegt ie:
"E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (No such file or directory) E: Can't mount SDCARD:"
Who can help me???? Ben vrij desperate want 16gb kaartjes zijn niet super goedkoop voor een scholier.

You could try formatting it in android. You could try to format out in recovery. Could do it in gparted.
Swyped...
Well, that's quite impossible since my phone doesn't recognise the card.
Hi Zeng4,
Something you can try, I did this in the past and was succesful.
I had an 8gb sd-card class 2, bought a new one 16GB class 10.
Partitioned the class 10 and had the same problem, my phone would not recognize the card.
What did I do then? I made a disk to disk copy and things worked like a charm.
You can use Acronis true Image for this...
Download this cd:
Hirens boot cd --> i cannot post the link, since I am a new user and I'm not allowed to!
hirensbootcd.org/download/
Boot your computer from this disk and choose disk imaging. And start Acronis true Image.
In there you can make a disc to disc copy.
Best practice in this case is to have Acronis do a "Proportional" disk clone.
It will then adjust every partition to fit on your new sd. For example, if your old card is 8gb and the new one is 16Gb, Acronis will double every partition "proportional".
After the cloning (approx 1h) the new SD worked like a charm.
You can always reformat is later via Android then if you don't like the partition sizes...
Grtz
If ya need any help on doing this, shout plz!

Did the same thing. EASEUS is creating logical partitions, not primary. Put your SD in another device (other phone, your PC), wipe partitions, format Fat32 and repartition. Spent an entire week-end figuring this out. It will work.
Edit: stay away from EASEUS !

[Q] Format ext partition

Hi everyone !
I bought a Class 10 16Go SD card but I had some problems with it. Now I can partition it but everytime I make an ext partition, it says there are some Mo that are used.
I would like to format this ext partition but I don't know how to do it.
And another problem is that my SD card isn't always recognized by the phone. Sometimes it works and sometimes not, so I can't install a rom and use a Data2SD script because I could lose my data.

When I do this my SD card can't be mount by the recovery. I don't know why ...

What do you mean "can't be mount" ?
As in, can't be mounted r/w or won't be read by the recovery ?
Answer in french if you find it easier.

I use SDFormatter with Format Size Adjustment if i ****up partitions

First, when I put the SD card on my phone (full FAT32), the recovery recognize it, so I can mount the SD card on USB storage or install zip from it. But when I partition the SD card, it becomes unreadable. I mean, I can't mount USB storage or install zip because there is a error to mount the SD card.
Don't know if it's well explained, I do my best.

As I said (or not, don't remember), I already made it ! The problem is that when I put the sdcard on the phone, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and the ext partition seems to not work. If anyone is french, check this thread I made where there are all explanations about my problem : http://www.commentcamarche.net/foru...-un-petit-probleme-avec-ma-carte-sd#p26167078
EDIT : I made a full FAT32 format to the sdcard, I put it in the phone, boot into bootloader, then recovery, I made "Partition SD Card" with 2Go EXT and 0Mo swap. Now when I try to mount USB storage, it's written : "E:Unable to write to ums lunfile"
Wipe partitions, format.
Insert in phone, does it work, yes/no.
Insert in pc, does it work, yes/no,
Partition, insert in pc, does it work, yes/no.
Tell me your results afterwards.

I formatted the sdcard on FAT32
So in PC it works, in phone too (to know if it works I mount sdcard in "Mount and Storage" and it works, USB storage too).
I partition the sdcard with the recovery (1Go EXT 0Mo swap), I get "Error mounting /sdcard" when I try to mount it in recovery, when I insert the sdcard in pc it asks me to format the sdcard, and in Minitool Partition Wizard I get an "Unallocated" space.
At least now we're sure it's not hardware.
Have you tried partitioning with tools other than recovery ?
If not, Format>partition.
If yes, sorry mate.

Yes I did, ext 2-3-4 and no one works, don't know why. FAT32 works first, I install Rom, after first boot the sdcard is not recognized. I put the sdcard again and it says ''damaged sdcard''.
Sorry for bad english

You don't need to format or partition the SD Card thru recovery.
1. Run Mini Tool wizard,
2. Simply delete all partitions.
3. Create First Partition FAT32 and the format it.
4. Create 2nd Partition either ext2 or ext4 as you need.
5. Create Linux Swap Partition if you need.
6. IMPORTANT: Select all partitions as 'Primary' by default it will be set as 'Logical' Drive as this will not mount your SD Card on your device.
7. Do this with a Card Reader and not thru your phone.
8. Now put on your device and proceed.
Hope this may be useful. If really press 'Thanks'

Try 4.0 based roms.
Nandroid backup first.

I've already done this, still not working ! It unmount the sdcard after first boot... And I've tried through the phone the first time, did it break my sdcard ?
I'll try with the 4.0 based rom tomorrow.

Nope, not necessary unless you're flashing from hboot.

Ok... I'll make it a goldcard even if it's useless, it may get it working ! I'm hopeful lol.
EDIT : I will create a goldcard, partition sdcard and flash a new rom. I will explain step by step what I do and what the results are. Hope it will work !

Hello to everyone,
Problem painful of all phones with the latest generation processors MTK was the system of Android installed on a primary partition very small!
Now I have tried to increase the primary partition !
Now no one can say it is not enough for the primary partition to install applications!
To saturate this partition it takes!
To simplify I pulled my two files ebr1 and ebr2 to go and directly replace the firmware!
These are the links to the various mods of the two files:

(many Thanks to my friend Linuxovios
Following the installation procedure
P.S.
Those who have helped me a lot to reach the goal with their guides and tips!
Many thanks to:
Linuxovios, GORDONFIRE , BIOBIO76 , MARSAPA AND PAULTHL !
Let me know if you still have problems ,
hello
New Primary Partition for New Mtk
Mtk 8392 is already made !
PROCEDURE:
More important first of all is to check the drivers if are installed correctly!
try this last adb android :http://ge.tt/2yL21VT[/SIZE]
1)You can flash or together the original firmware !
copy and replace the original ebr 1 and 2 and flash with flashtool together the firmware and make (firmware upgrade) !
2) After on the firmware that was preinstalled .. ...always using flashtool !
If you flash after the installation of the original firmware ...you can select only the two file ebr 1 and 2 ..and make download....... but you clear your custom on your phone!
The Correct procedure to flash is :
1) turn off the phone
2) remove battery and replace it without turn on the phone!
3) run flashtool with scatter file and the only two flags on the ebr 1 and 2
4) make download to the program flashtool
5) connect the usb cable to the pc
Download the original firmware and copy in this folder (the folder where do you unzip the firmware), the two ebr and try again!
This is the correct procedure...but make attention to not select all the files but only the two ebr!
In some situations that is not a bug...but is that after flash the ebr 1 and 2 the second partition must be formatted from the pc!
1) connect the phone to the pc with usb cable
2) Accept the to run on the usb storage in quick menu
3) In this moment the pc recognize the first partition....but we must enter on file manager or resources of the pc and click on the secondary storage!
4) The pc recognize that this secondary storage or partition is not formatted and says o you want to format this partition?
5) Say yes to the format procedure!
More Attention to the drivers if are correctly installed:
the debuging mode is when the phone is turn on but you must turn off the phone and remove the battery and replace it and DO NOT TURN ON!
If you say the phone is in charge ......this situation arrive after .....
You must connect the cable after you have run the flashtool to download button and in this phase the phone is connecting to the program (flashtool) but if this connection is broken arrive the charge phase!
You do not arrive in this phase....probably you do no have the right drivers installed !
Retry to reinstall the drivers adb android:

Hi Friends,
This situation is not a bug...but is that after flash the ebr 1 and 2 the second partition must be formatted from the pc!
PROCEDURE:
1) connect the phone to the pc with usb cable
2) Accept the to run on the usb storage in quick menu
3) In this moment the pc recognize the first partition....but we must enter on file manager or resources of the pc and click on the secondary storage!
4) The pc recognize that this secondary storage or partition is not formatted and says o you want to format this partition?
5) Say yes to the format procedure!
And this is all !
Check and give me an answer!

Ok..before i saw this post i connected my phone to the PC and Immediately the request to format popped up....To be certain ....should i accept that request or should i ignore and go to the drive partitioning area of the PC, look for drive and format it there?
I am asking because i did some looking around and discovered others with the issue...which pointed to the mmc(scatter file) being the issue....offered reworked mmc (with their own ebr 1and 2 in the 2.46GB/25GB which i inserted into the updated firmware) and it worked and i am using it now. It was also stated not to accept this the format request because it would wipe an undesired memory. (It said the RAM, might have been a typo)
I would love to use your partitons so i await your response to the first question for needed clarity ... also my second question is can i use your EBRs with the mmc i obtained?
Forgive me for not just experimenting to discover the answers but at the time of this current post I have had the zp990 for about 14 hours and have flashed it more times than i have made phone calls(or anything else for that matter) and my luck varies ...sometimes it great sometimes it really stinks....and the phone becomes a paper weight before i talk to grandma

Thanks
One question....while in "apps" menu in "settings" No apps show the option of moving them to the phone storage. Is this feature suppose to be missing? I have a freelander i30 on 4.2.1 and the option is available. Is there a way to enable it?
Thanks again
Hi i have a zp990 phone and i whant to increase primary particion from 1.47 to 13 gb, i download the r1 and r2 13gb from this post ,next i dont know how to proced , what are all the steps from 0 , my zp990 is rooted. Thanks
PROCEDURE:
1)You can flash or together the original firmware !
copy and replace the original ebr 1 and 2 and flash with flashtool together the firmware and make (firmware upgrade) !
2) After on the firmware that was preinstalled .. ...always using flashtool !
If you flash after the installation of the original firmware ...you can select only the two file ebr 1 and 2 ..and make download....... but you clear your custom on your phone!

1. Download the firmware of your phone. Get it from the zopo forums.
2. Extract it. You will see the default ebr1 and ebr2 files.
3. Replace the ebr1 and ebr2 files with the one provided here.
4. Open flash tools and select the folder where you extracted the firmware files.
5. Select only the ebr1 and ebr2 files.
