Need help!!! - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

I want to know if and how i can change my HTC Diamond from windows 6.1 to 6.5?? im currently running a cooked rom at the moment but would like to got to windows 6.5

Well considering that you already have a cooked rom tells me you device is Hard Spl'ed.
Is your device GSM or CDMA ?
If it's GSM, then you are in the right place. Just select a ROM that is titled 6.5 and download the file called, " DIAMIMG.nbh.
Place this file in your internal storage which is your 4G storage. Not your device main storage.
Then soft reset via red button using stylus and press the vol. down + back arrow button immediately....keep holding these button until you see a grey menu of instructions. FOllow the instructions to flash your new rom.
Then give your device a hard reset by soft resetting and holding vol. down and centre round button....hold until you see a grey menu. Pick reset to manufactures settings and follow instructions from there.
Done

thnx heaps..it is a GSM/3G..u wouldnt by any chance know were i can get the DIAMIMG.nbh will you? i cnt seem to find it

you do the same as for the cooked 6.1 roms.
There are many threads with different cooked 6.5 roms out there.
You will find a handful on the first page of the forum already.
good luck!

found wat i was looking for..i jus gotta find 1 dat is stable and memory friendly..thanx again for the help guys

Rom upgrade problem

Last night I wanted to install the official new dutch Vodafone rom for my diamond, from 1.37 to 1.97, so I started reading on the forums.
First I did a hard SPL, and now I have a SPL-1.30. Olinex, so I think that is right.
After the hard SPL I tried installing the RUU, but every time it starts installing, the progressbar stays at 0% and after some minutes, i get an 262 error. I tried it at several PC's, XP, Vista, Windows 7. So that is not the problem.
Anyone has an idea how to fix this?
greetings from holland, and sorry for my crappy english
Anyone has an idea, im realy wanting to upgrade
Sounds like u did everything right....but when flashing, using your pc is the last solution. Always flash Radios or Roms using the internal method.
Got this from Suiller:
COOKING ROMs & Radios from phone =-
1. open from your PC the rar or zip archive and extract only the BIG .nbh file
2. rename as DIAMIMG.NBH
3. copy the renamed file into the root dir of your "Storage Card" or "Internal Storage" (the one of 4Gb... NOT to the internal phone memory!)
4. soft reset your device and within 3 seconds push together the Vol_Down + Back button (the one on the right above the hangup button) and keep pressed until the boot loader appears (the one with the color stripes)
5. soon as you see the bootloader stop to press those poor buttons
6. a very simple gray menu will appear asking you what to do, simple press the power button to perform the ROM/Radio upgrade
7. while the upgrade runs be patient and don't press again the power button, reset the device or play with it until it finishes, when finished a message "UPDATE SUCCESS" will appear, now you can safely reset your device
8. who prefer can perform a hard reset after the fresh cook (soon after reset simply press Vol_Down + Circle button, then when you see another simple gray menu choose Vol_Up to confirm format), even if this has no-sense because internal memory is pre-formatted during flash, but... there is always a but... for some unknown "scientific" reason sometimes an hard-reset can save time & headache
I only hard reset after a new Rom has been installed.........I don't do this for Radios.
I have the vodafone 1.97 rom on my computer, but it is an exe file. And I can't unrar it. So where can I find that big.nbh file?
I placed the nbh file, and i called it DIAMIMG. But when i boot, i get a grey screen that says loading and doesn't goes away.
Help needed!

Change the hard-spl to 1.93 olinex and your problem is over, has worked for me with all roms so far. And when you flash, put your phone in bootloader mode manualy and your flashes works every time.
And if the rom is a exe file you can forsure unzip it!! use right tool for that, ex. winzip and you have your .nbhfile
If the file is DIAMIMG.nbh you can rename it to RUU_signed.nbh and fla**** with udK.s Custom RUU
Maybe it's a noob question but where can i find the 1.93 version. And can i just install it over the SPL 1.30 version?
And how do i put it in manual boot?
Here you have the 1.93 version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400950
just flash the new one over 1.30 version
Manual boot
Volumedown + reset (hold it down for a while, and the 4 color screen will appear)
Put manual boot only when flash rom!! not hard-spl
It finally worked! Thank you all!

Official Diamond ROM 2.03 update - HELP

Hey guys,
I have no idea what's going on. I appreciate your suggestions. I flashed my Diamond many times (and other phones as well) with most of the ROM available. Unit a month ago or so I've been using the official 1.93 ROM with previously installed hard SPL 1.40. When I attempted to install a new 2.03 ROM I went through the whole procedure same way as always with a little exception. Right after completion - 100% the unit reboots, shows the rainbow screen with a message "Upgrade ROM code error" - try again. What is the world is this? I also have a message on my desktop "Error 270-update error" - The image file is corrupted. My unit is european and I downloaded the ROM from both US and Euro sites. From this point I managed to downgrade again to version 1.93. Then I ran again the hard SPL 1.40 and reattempted to upgrade to 2.03 - SAME THING!
I don't know what to do next. Why I cannot flush it with the latest ROM? Any ideas or similar situations? Please see picture.
Thanks
Same Thing happened to me :S wtf??

Hi have you tried to flash from the internal storage?
Have you tried flashing with internal storage method?
Exactly the same problem here, so I tried to flash to a really old original HTC ROM after the failure and it flashed fine
So I thought I would try upgrading over the top of an original ROM, had the same error , bloody HTC
So, any ideas how to resolve this issue? Are we stuck with the old ROM? I'm glad that I'm not the only one experiencing the same problem.
No, I have never tried to flash from internal storage. How can this be done? do I copy the whole .exe file to storage and run from there? Any pre-cautions?
Thanks
Though I bricked my phone when it happened, never seen that error before despite many ROM flashes
I have now tried tommytaos ROM which is supposed to be very close to the original but some with some tweaks.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=479049
It installed just fine on my phone. Seems HTC have broken their ROM

it's the best way to flash the rom and the safest...
From Suiller thread:
the standard procedure to cook a ROM is made trough activesync program, I mean that the .nbh file is pushed into the phone trough activesync, across the usb cable, but this procedure can give some troubles:
1. it takes long time, about 10 minutes
2. it's a bit unsafe (even if the procedure can be always restored safely)
3. it's possible only with Windows OS (NO Linux nor *BSD, et cetera...)
I don't know why this is not well known but ALL producers (like HTC) give the possibility to upgrade the rom/firmware without having MS windows (thanks GOD someone knows that there aren't only windows users).
This faster procedure can be done also with *nix variants (or whatever you use) because the ROM update is made directly by the phone.
The procedure is very simple, it will take just 2 minutes, can be done everywhere & is good for cooking radios too (very fast in this case)
-= COOKING ROMs & Radios from phone =-
1. open from your PC the rar or zip archive and extract only the BIG .nbh file
2. rename as DIAMIMG.NBH
3. copy the renamed file into the root dir of your "Storage Card" or "Internal Storage" (the one of 4Gb... NOT to the internal phone memory!)
4. reset your device and within 3 seconds push together the Vol_Down + Back button (the one on the right above the hangup button) and keep pressed until the boot loader appears (the one with the color stripes)
5. soon as you see the bootloader stop to press those poor buttons
6. a very simple gray menu will appear asking you what to do, simple press the power button to perform the ROM/Radio upgrade
7. while the upgrade runs be patient and don't press again the power button, reset the device or play with it until it finishes, when finished a message "UPDATE SUCCESS" will appear, now you can safely reset your device
8. who prefer can perform a hard reset after the fresh cook (soon after reset simply press Vol_Down + Circle button, then when you see another simple gray menu choose Vol_Up to confirm format), even if this has no-sense because internal memory is pre-formatted during flash, but... there is always a but... for some unknown "scientific" reason sometimes an hard-reset can save time & headache
notes:
* be sure to have at least 10/20% of charge, anyway the whole procedure will take about 2 minutes, so you must be ensure that your mobile will stay turned on for at least those 2 dirty minutes (just in case you can attach the power AC/DC too), don't panic if something goes wrong... read few lines below
* like told you above the same procedure is good for cooking Radio too, of course Radio are smaller and it will be really fast (about one minute!)
* you don't need windows anymore or activesync, is enough just to copy the file into the storage card (transfers WITHOUT activesync are faster)
* it's possible to make a reset simply by getting off the stylus and pressing the small red button under the stylus carrier
* don't worry if something goes wrong... any cook failure can be always restored, the important thing is that you don't fail hardspl flash... but you have to do it just one time in your life
special note about hard-spl:
if you have signed-only hard-spl I strongly suggest to upgrade to an un-signed one, personally I tested many & I can confirm that the "good ones", at least in my experience, are the Olinex 1.37 or 1.93, you can find a copy here
remember also that you can NOT brick your device if you have a good hard-spl (like the ones I mentioned above) & flashing directly from phone is really faster (also good for flashing radio)
so the only one thing you should take care is when you change/upgrade the hard-spl, but you have to do this step just once, I'm using this hard-spl from about 6 months & I was able to flash everything (plus dozen recovers for failed flash)
for rom/radio upgrades you can safely also reboot/remove cable/turn off your phone while flashing ...every lost flash can be always restored safely, it's enough to restart your device in boot mode & restart flashing, also with cable trough the classic RUU (to put device in boot mode simply reset & keep pressed Vol_Down button)
In the hope this procedure can be useful at least to save time
if you have the official rom which is a exe file you can extract the rom file using winrar.
EUREKA!!! Done Deal!!!

THANKS! THANKS! THANKS!
Flashing using the Internal Method is the safest and most convenient way to flash. Spread the word.......
xevier69, Thanks for your thread
Having just purchased Oli's security unlocker... I was annoyed about this problem with a HTC official rom!
But your method has solved this issue!
Thanks again
Thanks guys it works perfect!
This just happened to me too and the only roms i have ever flashed:
1.37 official spanish: came with the phone
1.37 official WWE
1.93 official WWE
and now 2.03 official WWE fails.
WTF... One would expect the upgrade not to fail, right?
I wonder if they are checking for HardSPL to be original too!?
Anyway thanks for the workaround
This worked for me to
Cheers

Install twice from activesync 1st time = error, run for the second time the same version and OK it updates.
At least with my Diamond had worked

Hi!
The same thing happend to me too... I think it's because of the serial number we have entered when we have downloaded that 100 MB ROM Update file from the HTC support site... well i think it doesn't match with the serial and IMEI of the phone that the upgraded rom checks at the end of the update process... so i think it's kind of a protection against piracy developed by htc... taiwanese idiots!
Hi!
pls anyone send any information about an rom update file that works and doesn't report errors after it installed 100%. pls specify it's rom version too! 2.03 would be great
thanks in advance

I need an English version for my Diamond

I live in Holland but American but have the Dutch version of windows on my Diamond, I am new here and need help.
thank you
Welcome to the forums!
First of all, I recommend you to read the wiki. This contains all information you need about roms, software and more.
Each ROM has a specific language. It is not possible to change the language without flashing another ROM.
This means you have to download another ROM.
You can download an English shipped ROM but I recommend trying one of the cooked roms here available on the Diamond forum.
Hope this helps you.

I have to say I find this all confusing and afraid of bricking unit but so need an English version 6.1 but I read there is a 6.5, can I put that rom on here?

Firstly you need to flash Hard-SPL OliNex unsigned, which you can find here. Hard_SPL makes your device hardly unbrickable.
After that, take a look at this wiki: Diamond for Beginners
This is very usefull information, which you have to read.
And yes, you can flash a 6.5 rom on your Diamond

I did the SPL Hard install but can't find a 6.5 cooked com at all and I need English.
Take a look at the thread in which you have posted.
There are many 6.5 Roms available in there.
I am looking at this and see nowhere to dl this rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517300
After a long search I finally found the link in that thread: http://hotfile.com/list/93325/99ab7ab
But do try other ROMs to compare, because IMO this one is not the best.
Good luck!
I was trying this one but directions are not clear.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=552162
You need HardSPL 1.93
Copy “diamimg.nbh” to “Internal Storage” (root)
Hold down Volume & Back Button and Soft Reset
Press Power Button to Install ROM
Soft Reset when UPDATE COMPLETE!
Now I copied it and just put it in the internal memory but what volume button, both? with 'back' button and 'soft reset' which is where the small silver pin is, how do you hold all those down at the same time?...lol

Got it to work with the 6.1 Energy one but not the one I wanted but will keep trying.ty for all your help.
Okay good to hear it worked.
Just try a few roms and choose the one you like!
You're welcome.
Well it looks like I will have to go back to my Dutch version, the main menu I can't get it to be the big clock and have to say that navigation is a pain but not getting to have that main screen was to annoying. I know I am doing something wrong but what I do not know.
Ok maybe this is where I am going wrong with this one Rom.
copy the renamed file into the root dir of your "Storage Card" or "Internal Storage" (the one of 4Gb... NOT to the internal phone memory!)
Where does that mean ' root dir'?
Root dir means Root directory, so the highest directory which contains folders like Windows.
Please describe your problem a bit more, eventually with screenshots.
I think you did everything how you should, but you just don't like the rom.
Just try another one, I recommend Gen. Y D2 R3, I think it suits you very well.
Another ROM to try is BSB 6.5.1A. Also a very good rom.

[REQ] Clean 6.1 / 6.5.1 rom

Hi,
I was thinking that maybe the good things of WM6.1 and WM6.5.1 could be put in one rom.
Because I like the startbutton and the close button at the bottom from 6.5.1, but I liked the quickmenu from from 6.1.
I also want the quickmenu of task manager back, so you can open it any time without having to go to the startmenu again.
So I was thinking to put the quickmenu from start and task manager together and make it open by pushing the start button at the bottom, just like with normal windows (see pictures).
To make the rom go fast and without having all kinds of programs that you don't even use, I would like to have only these programs/settings cooked:
- Enable internet and bluetooth
- The option to really close a program by pressing the X-button
- Long press end-key
- All standard settings
- An internet browser (don't care which one)
- Office mobile
- Notes
- Pictures and Video's
- Tasks
- Camera
So NO extra keyboard, windows media player (got my own music player), ram cleaner, lock, navigation, etc.
Another very important thing is: I don't want the 6.5 layout as home screen and no touchflow, just the Today screen.
I think that will be possible, because a friend of mine got an old htc and also only the Today screen.
I'm not able to make my own rom, but I'm sure there are a lot of people that know how to do it.
Could anyone make me this rom, please?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583606
this is what u want i think, no touchflow no titanium home.
otherwise theres few clean ROMs available that are pretty good with titanium.
looking at ur attachments... just 2 words..... yuk yuk lol
Thanks for the replay, I'm gonna try the rom.
But how do I instal a .nbh file?
pls search forum for flashing from internal storage.
oh well...
1: copy the ROM in internal storage, rename the file to diamimg.nbh
2: press vol down + back key + press reset with stylus [keep it press untill screen changes to boot loader 3 color screen]
3: press power button to start flash.
4: after completion again soft reset.
5: u can do hard reset now if u like.
u can do MTTY first if u want and then do all the steps from 1 - 4
u can also use custom RUU as well.
u better be HARD SPL'ed or i take no responsibility.
Thanks so much, I'm flashing now...
Is hard reset necessary?
Ehm, nothing happened.
I've still got my old rom...
pls search forum for ur answer, u apparently a newbie and its better to be safe buddy.
1: u should have HARD SPL before flashing custom ROM
2: u sure u renamed file to diamimg in root of internal storage.
3: does it shows successful at the end.
4: try with RUU

1: I've installed HARD SPL
2: I renamed it diamimg and if you mean with "in root of internal storage" just in internal storage (not in subfolders) then, yes I did that.
3: It showed successful at the end
4: I'm gonna try with RUU then What exactly is RUU? Or do you mean rename it again?
Thanks for all the information .
RUU is a custom windows flasher that u use to flash using windows.
another idea since u got the success prompt is it possible that by mistake u flashed ur old ROM.

hi i am a newbie, please bear with me as i dont know where to post this thread.

1) this rom has a different interface such as pics, music, text, email clock etc are written on home screen, its not manila. is it called titanium?
2) i loaded rom but after few hours, the system hangs and reinstalls the rom itself, i have tried the direct flashing from internal storage as well as from RUU inclued.
3) i read about mtty, but dont know how to use it, mtty opens up with a notepad like thing, i am completely lost
4) please suggest a best rom for diamond similar to dutty's with text interface, please suggest why my phone hangs after duttys and what shud i do to avoid it.
5) i like rom which is minimal, text interface, complete with softwares such as change screen, c home editor etc
i do not want the icons on the bottom ( softkeys written in clutter), i want just text,no bars etc
everything as this picture is fine but i dont want the lock , start, at the bottom, neither the softkeys in clutter, simple text softkeys are fine.

Hi, your problems you are having are simple. They are dealt with very easily! The MTTY basically formats your phone to get rid of any "left over bits" of the old rom. There is a thread where someone has explained in detail how to use it, if I were to explain here, I would simply be copying his thread so please read it! The thread is titled "the difinitive mtty thread".
Regarding the rom you have chosen, you are just not used to the new layout. I'm not a fan of titanium either. The original style interface is called manilla, which I prefer. People are trying to move away from it because it is RAM hungry. I recommend using energy rom. I recommend this because he has a manilla (or touch flo 3d) version, AND his rom is pre loaded with fun applications for you to try out! Here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517300
Good luck, dont panic! It's not as difficult as it seems!
cant get hard spl to work
i tried everything, jumpspl.
hardspl kaiser dont work on my rom
in the definite mtty thread they say download hardspl ver 7 which i cant find anywhere. plz help
To do an MTTY you dont need any SPL. You need hardSPL to flash a custom ROM... Have you done a HardSPL ?
To do an MTTY basically all you need to do is charge your phone, then bring it into bootloader (press reset button under the stylus and press volume down until the 3 colour screen is shown).
next step is to connect the phone to the pc with the usb cable. the phone should say USB instead of serial. if it doesnt then your pc doesnt have the correct drivers. (drivers found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540290)
once your phone says USB, then load the exe file mtty1.42.exe (also found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540290) and select USB in the drop down list and press ok.
a white text box will appear, type task 29 and press enter. once it's finished, use CustomRUU.exe to flash your new rom. job done.
Now, where are you getting stuck? I think the MTTY guide is pretty noob friendly! I've attached a custom RUU to save you looking...
Hey, I found this on the main page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211
It's a complete upgrading guide. may be read that before doing anything to your diamond! You dont want to break it for good!
cant load the energy rom either
