you need to enter your phone serial number
Hallo,
I'm new in the forum, i was advised to register here in order to try and find solution to a problem my ks20 has after flashing a rom.
I tried today for the first time to flash a rom in my new ks20(i bought it yesterday used with cooked rom on), i followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369481.
When my phone tried to open, after flashing, this message came up "illegal use unavailable OTP Block".So i flashed another rom in order for the phone to open. With the new rom it opened but it had lost IMEI number and cannot connect with any phone network.
I have made a nv backup with LGMDP but when i try to use LGMDP to restore it i have the same message as before "illegal use unavailable OTP Block" when the phone turns on.
I tried with different roms branded and unbranded. I also tried this http://www.myphone.gr/forum/showthread.php?t=181820&page=360
I dont know what went wrong, nv backup procedure was complete, why do you think that nv backup is not good? I am ready to through the phone away
Maybe you can provide me a solution or another nv backup with my imei ( as i read somewhere in here) if the one i have made is not good.
Thanks , waiting for your help.
LGMDP_EURO that i used to change the rom created two folders: one is called NvBackup and the other folder is named with my imei number, i used both .nv2 files that are included is these folders but every time the result after restoring was the message "illegal use unavailable OTP Block".
I don't know what to do!
Please if anybody has a clue
what rom did you last install?
Was it the branded or unbranded version?
The last rom was Greece Vodafone 10g it is branded.
The problem when i tried to install a cooked rom which i think it awas also branded.
My phone is vodafone branded
did you restore your nv2 in emergency mode?
no i installed a new rom (so that the phone could turn on ok even with wrong imei) and i tried to restore with the phone turned on
shut down your phone, start emercency mode(press : "Send" "Browser" "Power") a green led will shine on your mobile and connect it, and try to restore your back up nv2
how can i do that from emergency mode? i don't have "nv Default" option, also there is no "reset database & contents"
if you have msn send me your email adres in a private message.

Did you solve your problem?
If not give rickou26 your imei number and ask him to make you a backup nv2 file.
use the program MTTY because it's only USB or has unlock without backup (like me) and has still bluetooth activated car solve the imei and bd address problem with that (should be works with usb cable also) :
1) get the phone recognized by windows and activate modem serial port interface
bluetooth perifs-> properties -> services -> check the 2 boxs
3) start -> programs -> accesories -> communication -> hyperterminal ->
set a name and modem port (should be found in step 1)
'call' (yellow phone)
4) type "AT" (without quotes) should see "OK"
5) type ATZ (activate echo)
6) AT%IDDE to unlock
7) AT%IMEI=X,X,X,X, ....
(15 chars) replace X by IMEI code or what you want
8) AT%BTAD=X,X,x,x,x,x ...
(12 chars from 0x0 ->0xF) same for bluetooth address, warning : the digits are in little endian (inversed)
9) switch off and on and the bluetooth should work again without asking for BD address
this method has worked for a KU380 only by bluetooth without install third party program to backup or repair and should works for other phones
help this dummy out ...
i met with the similar issue....
flashed my ks20 to upgrade to win 6.1

Hello all,
I need to know the S/N of several xDAs by programming (.NET). I'm getting a Device ID with this format: {E6461300-EB04-0801-59FF-3D511C9E393A}, but i need to get the serial number printed below the battery in order to match the Device ID with the S/N. Is there any way to convert Device ID to get S/N? Otherwise, is there any way to get the S/N (a registry key for example)?
Thanks a lot and regards,
Mario.
Does anyone know or have any idea where the Kindle Serial Number is located in the device? (not through the menu but stored within the device), the reason I ask is because I am testing eldarerathis' FFF extended bootloader and I was tinkering with flashing Stock ROM (rooted) to the alternate partitions, funny thing is that for some reason the OS is unable to retrieve the Serial Number and so you can't register the device with Amazon. I've looking through every file within the ROM and I have not been able to identify anything that could possibly give me a hint of where the Serial Number is located.
Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions are greatly appreciated.

If it was sitting in some file, it would be much too easy to spoof and lead to sharing Prime accounts, etc. It would have to be embedded in the hardware somewhere. That's my way of telling you that I have no idea why that setup would have a hard time retrieving the serial number.

Why are things like this in the Dev section? This needs to be moved to Q&A
The only reason is I feel there is a better chance of getting a response for this type of question from active devs than most regular users. If not agreed by a moderator I'll gladly move this to the Q&A.
I recently bought a Kindle Fire from Ebay and I'm unable to register it on Amazon.
The amazon reps told me that the serial number is blacklisted and recomanded me to return the device to sender and ask for refund.
Well, I'm unable to do that and I don't want to install a custom rom on it.
The serial should be located within the software, and there should be a way to change it (like adding IMEI - see the guide in the dev section).
will it work with fastboot ? does this change the serial number or jst the number that 'adb devices' will display ?
fastboot -s <serial number> specify device serial number
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
you say you dont want to install a custom rom but its really the best and easyiest way around it... I recommend this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439916

It wouldn't do you any good to change the serial number. There's a corresponding security key number paired with it, so changing one won't help without the other. Since Modaco is just an enhanced version of the stock software, it wouldn't be any different either in terms of obtaining Amazon services on the device (sorry pooch).
Contact ebay/paypal and file a dispute.
I have the Tmobile Galaxy Note 2 SGH-T889 ( stock rom and rooted ) My original phone has water damage and not working, I bought a main-board on ebay but the IMEI got blacklisted and I didn't know until I replaced the board.
I want to replace the IMEI from the water damage phone into my repaired phone.
I made a backup the file or NV data using the software " NV-items_reader_writer tool " program
I edit the IMEI number in the line 00550 in the backup that I got from the "NV reader/writer tool"
Than I write back my NV data with the new IMEI number back on the phone using ( EFS/QSP/Nv-items_reader_writer), the program says the writing was successful, but the IMEI doesn't change after I reboot the phone...
Why this is happening ? Is there another secret EFS folder in the phone that keeps writing back the old IMEI into the board..
Is there another safe EFS folder located were the phone keeps geting information to rewrite the old number back in the phone..
Or there is something missing that I don't know ,.. why the "NV-items_reader_writer tool" can not save the new NV data in the phone.
Could you help me, please? The old phone cost me about 600$ and I drooped in the rain water , than I bought a new board that cost me over 100$ .. and now Im stock with a pice of junk .. Please help me...
Best regards,
Cesar

Those are the steps I made during the attempt of fixing the IMEI :
1= Download NV-Items_Reader_Writer_Tool.zip and extract the zip PC
2= Installed SAMSUNG DRIVERS on your computer.
3= Enable USB DEBUGGING on your phone.
4=Dial *#7284# on your phone’s dialer.
5= Select Qualcomm USB Settings and then check RNDIS + DM + MODEM and press OK button. (( Im supposed to check RMNET + DM+ MODEM, but I dont have that option in my model of phone))
6=Now connect your phone to computer using USB cable and then launch NV-items_reader_writer.exe as administrator.
7= Save a backup of the file in my PC and open it with NotePad text editor.
8=Go to the line 00550 and edit the IMEI number and replace with the good number from the water damage phone.
9=Separate your IMEI number into blocks of two digits, leaving the first digit alone. Suppose your phone’s IMEI is35516705558781901, separate it like this: 3 55 16 70 55 58 78 19 01
Now add “A” after the first digit, and reverse the sequence of the two numbers in each block of 2 digits. Add 08 in the beginning of the IMEI. Here is an example: 08 3A 55 61 07 55 85 87 91 10
Having done this, replace the first nine values in the NV block with the converted IMEI.
Click on Write button on the NV-items_reader_writer tool.
When it’s done, Im supposed to disconnect device and reboot it.
My new phone’s IMEI should be there. BUT IS NOT.. It keeps showing the old IMEI number that I dont need.. !!
Please Help Me..
