Hello!
Although there have been numerous custom icons for the status bar for WM (Wifi, radio signal battery etc.) I was suprised that there isn't yet an Android based one..
Making the icons themselves doesn't look that difficult but I haven't been able to find the original icons....
Wouls it be possible to get them, perhaps as PNG files?
Thanks very much
Never mind, found it
I just had to unzip the file for restoring Android to its original theme

Basically, I've been using AuraxTSense for a long time now, and once Neo started to implement the Transparent Theme, so I've been sticking with older versions just because I'm not happy with the Transparent Theme. I've now bit the bullet and updated to the latest version, but now there's something I want.
Android Stock has some nice icons, and I'm really not keen on the HTC Notification Bar Icons, I want the icons from stock (like Neo has done in the past, and continues to do) but I have no idea how to do it. I've opened up the framework-res.apk with winzip, browsed in there, found different images etc in there, but I don't know which ones to change.
I hope someone understands what I'm saying!

i searched all afternoon with no joy.
my goal is to get fully transparent taskbars instead of default semi trans ones.for wvga wm6.5 titanium rom. in a simple and permanent way or in a *.tsk file.
im not talking about sense or qvga or replacing .png files or temporarily cutting slices from the wallpaper or using irfanview or transparent icons and ...
i see the transparency of taskbar and softkeybar differs in different *.tsk files.some even have a one pixel black border.so i presume its possible to have fully transparent 52*480 bars for titanium rom with some tweaks ( in shell32.exe ?)
tnx in advance
there looks to be alot of demand for this all over the forums.
theme designers.....!!! an answer is very appreciated.
or even some explanation that why this cant be done.??!
enddddddddd
thank you

i have some icons that i want to make for notification icons on my desire. i am totally rubbish with paint / photoshop and have tried many times already to learn. all i want is the icons resized and colour added to show the different phases of the signal / 3g and 4g signal. if anyone would like to help me reach my goal either reply to the thread or pm me. thanks.......................sudeki300
Have you looked at UOT Kitchen? there are some to choose from.
yes that was the first place i looked and was hoping i could just upload the icons there but it needs to already be an apk file such as systemUI.apk. so i'll still need the icons resized and rejigged then put it back into the apk file before uot kitchen can do it's magic.......................sudeki300
@ sirtagada, here the icons i was talking about............................sudeki300
Ok, what colours do you want for signal 3g and 4g?
And how many icons for each one?
Hello i was wanting to know how to change the image in the pulldown bar like you see in the UOT kitchen and if its possible to change the top buttons images like the wifi on / off and 4G on /off ect or the whole button itself
there in the SystemUI.apk located in system/apps
res/drawablehdpi folder
just edit in any image editor but try and stay away from the .9.pngs they are special and a pain in the bum.
you can just change .apk to .zip to unzip then rezip and rename.apk
you want the quicklaunch icons for the drop down icons
and status_bar_background for the actual background
thank you bro for such a fast answer
no problem i just happen to be trollin through
do you happen to know were the battery images are ?
and if i could just remove all the stock ones with ones from another theme for my phone ?
battery images are in framework-res
system/framework
if using ones from another phone you'll probably need to do some renaming
most roms currently on our phone use full 100 % increments
if i remember correctly there are 203 total 100 unplugged
100 plugged and a full empty and unknown
thanks again you have been a huge help
anytime
if noone shares the info this stuff can be a royal pain.
If you use the UOT Kitchen and keep getting errors, try un-checking Patch9 autofix. This will not decompile the 9patch images and may allow your theme to build. It worked for me with modding ACS Ice Cream Sandwich Theme (modded battery only).
thank you
and are there any other theme kitchens or rom kitchens for our phone ?
oh and i noticed there are two different default pull-down backgrounds one under systemUI.apk and one under the frameworks.apk and both are different sizes and dimensions , witch ones do i change ? or do i change both ?
the one you want for the drop down background is
status_bar_background.png
in SystemUI.apk

I'm fairly new to Android, coming from my FrankenPre to the Epic Touch. I want to begin editing the icons and images on my phone, and I've been exploring some ROMs ansd themes and switching up some icons, which have worked fine. However, I have no idea exactly where all the images are kept. For instance, I tried to change the stock Email icon, but the images I changed weren't right, and I was somehow left with the "Android Robot" icon.
My question is, seeing as how you know where these images reside on the phone, how do I go about knowing which icons are where, and which ones I need to change? Is there a list somewhere of the stock system images and their locations, or is it trial and error to figure out where they are? Thanks for the help.

haha "just rollin thru""
I have a OnePlus 5T onto which I recently installed MSM-Xtended-OFFICIAL-XP7-Release-v15.2 and Magisk-v19.3, and it's work great. Custom roms like MSM-X are quite new to me, though I have done some general rooting in the past, and am currently figuring out the android internals, where things are located, how things are arranged, etc, so I would really appreciate any pointers I can get.
What I'm currently trying to figure out is how exactly to change the status bar icons (mainly the wifi and cellular signal icons, which are a solid cone and triangle, respectively, where as I'd like to have more traditional looking bars. Also, if possible, I'd also like to be able to have those signal icons (and perhaps the one that indicates the cellular speed, like H, H+, LTE, etc)
The "X-Tensions" menu in the Settings app allows some limited changes, like letting one change the position of the clock - I like it centered - as well as have the date show next to it, and letting one choose from a short list of battery icons (and/or showing text percent), but there doesn't seem to be a more fine grained control over the status bar.
I have done some searching and reading and some places say that the icons should be within /system/app/SystemUI.apk or /system/framework/framework-res.apk but I searched through those (searching within the res/ folders of each as well as anywhere else to be sure, but I don't see those signal icons, so I assume they must be somewhere else, maybe something more specific to MSM-X, or maybe Lawnchair (the launcher MSM-X comes with) ?
Thank for any help.
Edit: I have attached two images, one showing what my status bar looks like, and the other is from an example I found online of the signal icon style that I'd want to have (the more traditional individual bars.)
Also looking at the first image, I'd also like to move the signal icons over to the right, beside the carrier name (and perhaps move that temp icon to the left side.)

You cant change them that simple as you seem to think. Its not like there is a single png in a folder for each icon.
The icons (a lot of them for every icon; for every state) are inside the apks you mentioned. In order to change them you would need to decompile them, do the changes and recompile them and replace the original ones with the modified ones.
Search for 3minit mod. Thats the easiest way if you want to do it like that. But that requires some knowledge.
Way easier it would be to just use substratum. Search a theme thats has the icons you want and then just apply the statusbar icon overlay. You can just leave out the other overlays if you just want to change statusbar icons.
