I apologize if this is not where this thread belongs, but I wasn,t sure where exactly I should put it. Anyway, I use the ics on my touch pro, and have been off and on for about a month, without issue. I used the registry editor and renamed the forcedcell value or whatever its called so i can do it without paying for phone as modem. Well, I had to hard reset my pro b/c it was having some issues, so i set it up again. I just renamed the forcecell item, and now it disconnects all the time, and its slower. i will be on for awhile and i'll get the error 67 registration error, have to disconnect from my laptop, reload the browser page on my phone, and connect again.
the only thing different from b4 is that this time, i read that i should also go to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE-Softwar-OEM-WModem and set all values to 0 ( check prfile (which is 0 by default), and multi-nai and wmodem dun, which are 1 by default). this is supposedly so sprint cant detect i'm using my phone as a modem.
i also installed wmwifi router, and it works, but also disconnects and reconnects a lot.
I'm not sure why it does this, any ideas?
C'mon smart guys. Can anyone help a guy out? lol
Try this cab, it worked for me.
I'll give it a shot. Is it just aimed at making it stay connected?
My problem before this fix was that I would change the registry keys to connect but for some reason the phone would revert back to the old settings not allowing me to stay connected. It would be a random thing and going back to change them was getting old. After installing this cab, the settings would stick and I have not changed them since. So ....yes.

Hi guys, last couple of days I encounter the following problems:
1. P3300 goes to stand-by during the night time and does not wake -up by incoming calls or incoming sms on the morning. Sometimes it also happens if the phone stays untouchable during few hours on a day time. The people on another side who are trying to call or sms me get the reply that I'm not reachable. Just switching on the black light does not help even so that the network coverage indicated as 100%. Only when I start to call someone or try to send sms, the storm of the delayed SMSes suddenly comes to my screen and then the people can reach me back by phone.
2. The pop-up message comes to the screen few times per day:
"Pocket PC networking: Unable to obtain a server-assigned IP address. Try again later or enter an IP address in Network settings."
Well this message starts to come very recently and I did not change any network settings before.
I do not know if these two problems comes together, but they are start to rear the heads more or less at the same time.
From the long-time installed programs I have :
TomTom
Fizz Traveller
Resco Keyboard PRO
Opera
Skype
CorePlayer
Vimio LiveTV
The recently installed programs (let's say last two weeks time frame):
Softick Card Export II
BatteryStatus (overclocked with CPU Scaler : min 143- max 260 boost)
So, guys, your suggestions what it could be are very appreciated.
If interested I have Test WWE HTC ROM 1.12.405.1_026790
During an Activesync connection in which I was transferring some files from the PC to the P3300, the power suddenly went down.
I don't know if this had anything to do with it, but after that I started to get that same message you refer to in problem 2 and I was unable to access the internet while connected via USB to the PC.
Anyway, I googled around and found this:
Solution #1 - via the GUI
In Settings | Connections go to Configure Network adapters.
Set the 'Remote-NDIS Host' settings to use a specific IP address of 169.254.2.1, subnet 255.255.0.0, and a default gateway of 169.254.2.2
Solution #2 - via Editing the Registry
Fire up your registry editor then head to:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\RNDISFN1\Parms\TcpIp]
Set AutoCfg to 1
Set EnableDHCP to 0
Soft reset the device to activate the change
I've tried solution 1 and it works (so far, at least).
Regards,
cfvilela,
I appreciate very much that you redirected me to that blog.
Fixed the issue with Network message with the help of option 2.
Well, we will see where it leads me.
Anyone has the idea about my first issue?
Last evening I changed the reg values as described in order to eliminate this annoying message.
Well, this morning the Network message was popping-up again.
So , the solution number 2 does not work for me.
cfvilela,
to use the solution number 1, where did you find "Configure Network adapters" in Settings/Connections menu ?
Actually it was the reason why I choosed yesterday the second way, could you advice?
- Click the 'Start' icon on the today screen top bar, then select 'Settings' and inside it, choose the 'Connections' tab.
- Then, choose the 'Wi-Fi' icon and inside it, the 'Network Adapters' tab.
- Once there, choose the 'Remote-NDIS Host' and it will open another window.
- On that new window choose 'Use specific IP adress' and use the following settings:
*IP Adress: 169.254.2.1
*Subnet mask:255.255.0.0
*Default gateway: 169.254.2.2
*Don't change anything in the 'Name Servers' tab.
-Click OK and hopefully it should work.
Good luck.
It still works on my P3300. I use two different PCs, one at home and another at my working place to synchonize and it works with both of them.
regards,
cfvilela,
obrigado
I discovered Networks adapters in Wi-Fi, but since it was not mentioned in original blog, I was thinking that I overlooked something.
Great. Thanks again.
Same here
I have the same problems here.
The network error doesnot bother me much but not receiving calls is anoying.
After all, it is one of its main functions!
I tried the following with No succes:
1. T-mobile gave me a new sim-card. didn´t help.
2. Technical service of T-mobile did some kind of network reset thing. (He didnot want to explain any further.... I suspect he just rebooted something and hoped it would help) Didnot work.
3. Hard reset of device Didn´t work.
So, If anyone has a solution, you´ll help at least two people!
(are there more with the same problem?)
greetz,
Pfeffa-rah
Still NoGo
I still have no solution.
Anyone else have the same problem? or is it just the two of us?
T-Mobile is verry unhelpfull. They prommise to return my calls but then only send an sms that I should call back, or that they are workin on it or that they couldn´t reach me (duh)....
They want me to turn in the device but I don´t want to miss it for the two weeks it will take them and only get it back with the memo "works fine". So I realy want to speak to a technician so I can explain him what the problem is.
The customer services ladys are verry polite and nice, but they really don´t know anything about technical issues.
So I am still stuck here.
greetz,
Pfeffa-rah
First off I have the Sprint Vogue. Ok this morning I decided to update my phones Rom and this that and the other. I found NFSFAN's custom wm6.5 and I am loving it but now I have some issues.
Everything is loaded and partially working. I really like it but somehow and somewhere there are problem. I don't have internet access any longer, it dials out to #777 and then goes away like its connected, but when I went to update my email, weather, and then to try Skyfire.... I get no connection no internet, or something in that nature. So I looked in a few folders to look at some setting and nothing is out of order.
Here is one of my messages that I get when trying update my weather:
Couldn't establish internet interpreter.Connection
Line 1
(Temp\rartmp99.802\titaniumWeather.mscr): connect ("The Internet")
I think I may have the fix for Titanium Weather but I still need more help.
Then I get a window for:
Network Log On
Resourse: Data Connection
User Name:
Password:
Domain:
I looked at this setting in my network connection folder and press the finish button when I was done looking at the information since I couldn't find an exit button.
Another issue is my MSID is set to all zeros to the best of my knowledge is should be the same as my current phone number. I have tried ## this # that and I always dial out and an operator comes on saying the number or code entered is invalid.
Am I over thinking this or how do I fix this. I am getting frustrated with the searching and digging and not getting anywhere, can someone please help me with this?
also does it matter that my phone use to say it was the VOGU 100 and now it says its the VOGU 200
Are you with Sprint?
There is a ton of info in NFSFAN's thread regarding getting Sprint back on the internet, just search.
Thanks for that, I did use the search on this upgrading forum and couldnt find what I needed..... Thanks juddy, after a few minutes I found my answer and it all works now. All that was needed to be done was to revert to his/there 6.3, make sure that it all works and then revert back to 6.5. I am getting on the internet, weather is updating, emails are syncing onto my phone. So far so good only time will tell on how well it works. Thanks
i would greatly appreciate any advice on this matter. well normally, all i had to do was plug my device to the computer, i press Internet sharing on device when the prompt shows, and i connect to internet. Now for some reason it wont and i been trouble shooting all morning and cant figure it out. the only difference is i used my device as a disk drive this morning to put Hdwall program on computer. now when i diconnect and connect again, it lets me select internet sharing but when i press connect, it very quickly says check usb device, it disconnects, then the connect button lights back up again as if i never pressed it. i believe the activesync is blocking me somehow. no settings were changed from b4. i even uninstalled activesync and reinstalled it again in computer(windows xp serv. pack 3). still no luck. i got tired of it n shut computer down..lol can anyone lead me in the right path? how do u disable activesync on device and on computer? so that when i connect device to comp., activesync wont start up and cause issues with internet sharing. i have all the quick fixes to mke device faster, like the memory leak, data fix, no push internet, and dynamic proxy thing. are any of those conflicting with me using internet sharing? cuz i now have hspda/hsup enabled..excuse mispelling. is that the prob? i never had this issue b4. i remember reading that if u connect thru active sync and connect again, the device or computer might not recognize the connection since activesync wasnt really disconnected from first session. how do i reset that to make sure new connection(internetsharing) is recognized versus previous sessions? thnkx in advance
You could just uninstall activesync from the host PC, that would keep it from launching anyway...but I don't know for sure if that's going to get around your issue. Can't hurt to try though.
thnx for the advice. strange how it wrked b4 and not now..lol ima try everything possible b4 hard reseting. for some reason, i believe one of those cabs i downloaded screwed wit somethn. i have data fix, no push internet, dynamic proxy, sd tune up and xda wifi router cabs installed. do u think one of those might be the issue? also, i thght activesync is needed in order for PC to recognize phone. so if i uninstall activesync on computer, will it still recognixe the device and the action im trying to perform(Internet Sharing)? its crazy because it worked fine b4 with activesync in the pc.

I honestly don't know if internet sharing requires an activesync connection, I'd always believed it worked independently of that (and mutually exclusive), like connecting it as a hard drive does.
Make sure that BTTrayCE.EXE is running at startup (look for BTTrayCE.lnk in the Windows\Startup folder). USB Internet Sharing won't work without that service running, and will act exactly like you describe.
Edit: BTW, I mean look for this on your phone, not your computer...
ill make sure to llook for that...i got a slew of cabs to try out in the morning. i have the TP2 tethering cab(the one that doesnt need mortscript) and the ATT tethering cab. im going to try each 1 and uininstalling right after if it doesnt wrk. i also have total commander and seen where all those registry files are at. i just need something clarified for me. When they say, change this(meaning the last line of that reg. file) to this(meaning the edit needed to be ), Is it Simply just Renaming that particular file or part of file? or is it deleting that file and somehow adding one that says the new edit? im confident ill have it tethering soon. at least my xda wifi router wrks perfectly..lol

Changing values in your registry is a matter of navigating to that registry key in your reg editor, clicking on the entry to bring up the dialog to change the value, and then changing it to whatever is specified (a number, a string, whatever), then just clicking 'ok' to save. It looks a lot like a regular file structure, but it operates a bit differently.
I would STRONGLY recommend using whatever regedit tool you prefer to make a backup copy of your registry before making any changes in it...just in case
Got my Tilt 2 tethering again ;-)
IM BACKKKKKKK...lol I am typing now through the tethered connection. lmao this forum is da bomb. i tried again this mornin with nothing added to phone, like fixes, and it wouldnt let me connect. same as b4. I downloaded the ATT Tethering Cab fix, and like magic it worked. It added the option to let me select media net for connection and it connected with no problem. so if you are having issues connecting like i did b4, try the free ATT Tethering Cab fix on this forum. It worked for me directly right after install. Many thanks and credit goes to whoever created this file. i am really liking this forum. so much info in here. learning new stuff everyday. I thought i was already a tech head, but once i came to this forum, i saw the wild modding and rom flashes, and etc.. people are doing. Give me some time, with this forum, i will be flashing roms also..lol I hope. also thanks to people who gave me some advice and encouraged me to solve the problem. With some research and reading, nothing is impossible.
I've been reading myself silly trying to figure this out & my attempts at Searching haven't helped, probably because I'm not fluent enough to use the correct terms. In spite of having this device for several months, I've never learned as much as I'd like. Anyway . . .
I finally flashed the newest stock ROM from HTC several days ago. The process seemed to go fine with one exception: I keep getting a notification that I have a new Voicemail when I don't. I check -- no new Voicemail. I Dismiss, but the the notification keeps coming back periodically. Suggestions?
Other than that, things seemed to go smoothly, and I started slowly getting things back the way I like them. After reading & making sure I understood (or so I thought), I installed the .NET 3.5 Framework so I could use Crud Scraper to get rid of the stuff I clearly remembered using it for.
The .NET part went fine, and then I did the soft reset . . . and lost My Location on the Today screen that shows my weather. It now says I'm in Seattle, which I'm not -- I'm over a mountain range & about 350 miles east of Seattle. When I try to change the location, it doesn't find my town or anything in my area, for that matter..
The mysteriously (to me) reappearing Voicemail Notification is bad enough, but I really rely on the weather, particularly this time of year, and it's driving me crazy that I can't figure this out. Suggestions?
TIA
Did you try looking at the several threads on this ROM in the Rom Development forum? There's a fix in one of them for this problem.
For which problem? And, do you have any idea what thread?
And, yes, I did look in the thread I found (New ATT Tilt2 ROM) -- I believe I read every post before I flashed the latest ROM, even though much of it was over my head. That's where I learned that I had to install .NET 3.5 & reboot before CrudScraper would work.
I recall several people mentioning that the My Location worked flawlessly & how great it was having the location, and I read where one or two people seemed to be having the same weather problem I'm having, but I didn't see an answer. I read in one of the forums that there seems to be a bug (although not confined to the latest ROM) in certain parts of the world, and I read a thread where there seemed to by a problem with My Location in a cooked ROM that might or might not have been related to GPS not working. I read something else where My Location wouldn't work with 3G, only with Wi-Fi, so I tried that, even though My Location was working just fine after I flashed to the latest ROM -- that didn't help.
So, it's not like I'm asking because I hadn't already tried to find solutions myself. I'm not doubting that there are answers to both of my issues but rather that after spending several hours over the weekend trying to find the solutions, I've been miserably unsuccessful. Otherwise, I wouldn't have asked.

For the My Location feature, only part of the service is understood. For the most part, the location is determined by the cell towers your device connects to. It depends on where you are as well as the signal strength. Sometimes the request is not sent or received to/from the tower(s). It is more accurate usually when 3G is turned off. The alternative is to add your city manually. If the location servers can't figure out where you are, then it won't work.
Normally the stock ROMs fix this and work wonderfully after flashing. The best solution to this is to turn off 3G to get a fix or find your city manually.

I'm feeling really stupid here, but being a glutton for punishment, I'll keep trying.
Is it possible that maybe there was something wrong with the towers here that just happened to coincide with the soft reboot after installing .NET? The reason I ask is that My Location is now correct. Yay! That would be just my luck: bad timing.
Any suggestions about the incorrect Voice Mail notification? It for sure comes back each time I power up the phone. It seems to me it also reappears at other times, but I'm not positive about that -- I'm going to try to pay better attention.

Make sure to install .NET CF 3.5 to the device and not the storage card. You'll then need to restart, if it doesn't ask you to do so. You then need to force it to use 3.5 over 2.0. Use a registry editor and navigate to HKLM/Software/Microsoft/.NETCompactFramework. Change the DWORD data of entry 2.0.7045.00 from 1 to 0. Then change the DWORD data of entry 3.5.7283.00 from 0 to 1 and then reset. This disables 2.0 and enables 3.5.
For a decent registry editor that can be used from the PC side, check out CERegEditor if you don't already have an editor of choice.
For the voicemail problem, there are two known solutions. You can either have someone call and leave you a voicemail. You would then check it and delete it. You can also simply call your provider and have them reset your voicemail account. Either one should work.
If neither of those options works for/appeals to you, you can give this a shot. There are no guarantees that it won't come back after a soft reset, though. Using a Registry editor, navigate to the following keys:
HKCU\System\State\Messages\vmail\Line1\Unread
HKCU\System\State\Messages\vmail\Line2\Unread
HKCU\System\State\Messages\vmail\Total\Unread
There should be a value name "Count" with a REG_DWORD value
Change value to 0 in decimal or 00 in Hex.
It should remove voicemail notification icon from the taskbar.

Many thanks! For the Voicemail, I used method one, and it worked
And, thanks for the instructions (and the reg edit program suggestion) to force use of .NET CF 3.5 because I missed that part -- yikes.
I'm on a dedicated mission to cut down on the elecronics I have to carry around, so I need to learn more about the features of the Tilt2 because if I can just figure things out (which I've not forced myself to do), the Tilt2 will, I think, be able to replace my PDA & iPhone.
Anyway, thanks again for your help!
Hi,
I am new and just installed Android ProjectAndroid2.2Froyo.112210 on my HTC Touch Pro 2 phone. Once I had the 3G connection with the Dutch KPN working but after a reboot of the phone, I can not manage to get it working again. Wifi and BT are ok except the 3G connection.
Did a 'to default reset' and tried several APN setting but none of them turn the 3G connection back to live.
Does anyone have a solution?
Thanks in advance,
Rick.
Does the cell radio function? In other words, can you make/receive calls/texts?
If yes, then the APN settings are a good thing to look at - also, do you have a 3g icon with up/down arrows next to the signal strength meter?
One other good question to ask - does your provider require a proxy to access the 'net?
Yes, I can call and recieve calls. Also sms messages are working fine.
The only thing which is missing is the G3 data connection icon and actually the datalink.
No, the provider does not need a proxy setting. As I wrote in my start, I had it working good but just after a reboot without any changes on the APN parameters, it didnt come back again.
Thanks for your reply Arrrghhh!

Hrm. May want to try with a new/fresh data.img. If you rename your existing data.img, a new one will be created during boot. See if it helps... unfortunately deleting that file has fixed so many odd issues, it's not even remotely funny.
Okay, I will give it a go when comming back from my trip next week.
I did remove all files a couple of times and re-installing the Android software but maybe not all data has been removed? At least it did not solve the problem.
By the way, could it be caused by having the system on the SD card rather than in the phone memory? And could it be related to the type of phone selected during boot time? I am using the HTC Touch Pro 2 and not selecting the Tilt-2 but the ?210 (forgot the name and the phone is off) due to the fact that the keyboard is wrong with the tilt-2 option.

Ehm, you can wipe your SD card all the times you want, but this won't solve anything if the APN is wrong or if your carrier requires user/pass, proxy or whatever else.
So first go check you actual APN configuration in WinMo, get a paper, copy it down piece by piece, then get back to Xdandroid and modify/create a new one, checking all the settings are properly set.
Have a nice trip.
@Wind,
your right but again, it has been working with a certain set of parameters but just after a reboot without any change on APN, the phone did not want to reconnect on 3G.
Thanks for your wishes. Will get back when I return.
do not use this version modules-2.6.27.46-01232-gb7033df.tar.gz , zImage-2.6.27.46-01232-gb7033df, change it.
@muziling,
I did update the phone with your advised release and re-started the phone again. No result. Due to low battery the phone went down and had to re-charge. When the battery was full again, turned on the phone and guess what, I had a 3G icon.
Just to be sure that it was not a lucky shot (but I was thinking it) I decided to reboot the phone again and ships.... the 3G icon did not show up again.
No change inwhatever parameter was made during the reboot session. This means that the 3G performance is intermittend and depeding on a certain condition which I do not know how to find. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
I have a similar problem. After a fresh install, the 3G connection works exactly the first time, I boot into android. After a reboot, the 3G connection mostly does not work. I cannot figure out, which conditions have to be met, to get 3G working. Its just pure luck to me.
btw, I have a german rhodium.
try this version, it works perfect on my rhod400
