Hi, on my desktop PC I sign into Live Messenger fine, and my 'Nickname' is composed of a mixture of non-standard symbols, mainly arabic, form the Character Map to spell jesus, as such : کﮞک٤ل
(Not sure if that will show when i post)
However, whenever i sign into Live Messenger on my Phone, the symbols appear as 5 square boxes, which then overwrite my symbols on the PC. I was wondering if there is any way of letting the Live Messenger on my mobile recognise the arabic symbols, or if I would have to install a 3rd party 'Character Map' for it? Thanks.

I'm looking to understand something about internationalisation and fonts on Windows Mobile 6 (mine is a HTC Touch Cruise). The practical problem is that my user interface is European but when I receive e-mails and text messages in Hebrew I only see squares. I don't need to write in Hebrew or to change the MUI.
I'm not looking for a commercial product - I'm a software developer myself (but not on Windows Mobile) and feel very comfortable modifying registry entries, swapping files and the like. What I'd like to understand is the mechanics of the problem.
I've read about changing the system font and have changed it to one that supports Hebrew with the following results: the popup notification when a message arrives is now in Hebrew characters (but backwords), but when I open the messages they're still only squares. Is there a system font that isn't covered in the above link? A system default codepage issue?
Many thanks for pointers, explanations and suggestions
Is there a smart search option on this phone?
I just think there is a potential to do a lot more with the keyboard. Some sort of smart search (ala Palm Pre) would be great. From standby, just slide out the keyboard and start typing and list out the possibilities. Maybe start typing a name and any matches start popping up with options to directly call, text or email. Or a URL to go directly to a website, or save in notes (sometimes you see a website address you wanna check out later). Of course, there would be google/wikipedia search options too.
There should also be shortcuts with the keyboard too. Anyway to link certain keys (or combos) to launch apps (e.g. straight into SMS mode) or certain settings (e.g. bluetooth on/off)?
Another idea I think could be useful is integrating a facebook or twitter tab into TouchFlo3D directly. Is this possible?
Hi all,
I want to ask if it is possible to "cook" some special feature to ROM with following functionallity:
I am typing my SMS with XT9 Czech, of course with unicode special characters. I need a fix, which will send the text without these special unicode signs to send it like a normal 160 characters instead of 70 characters SMS.
a) There are some utilities like SMSunaccent but it is a stand alone software which doesnt fit so well with all ROMs (problems with keyboard, etc.)
b) Also dont tell me to switch off the UNICODE selection in the message´s option, because the result is the sms with "?" instead of the special characters.
c) possible solution is to have the XT9 Czech without special characters, but I havent founf any editor of it.
Thank you very much and I will wait for your answer PDA Gurus ...
Please can someone tell me how to access the full character set (eg the copyright symbol, bullet symbols etc) when writing SMSs, emails or Notes as the built in keyboard doesn't have them and is very limited? Thank you.
Use the Symbol key on the keyboard to bring up a list of characters to choose from
You've got access to a lot of symbols by pressing [FN] + [,] keys when writing something (Qwerty keyboard, unbranded TP2).
Thank you, this is helpful. But it's still not the full ASCII set. Is there any way of accessing the full set using the ASCII codes for example?
Indeed, for instance the \ isn't available.
Very annoying when you want to login via Remote Desktop, and you need to type the domainname
I use a third-party Asian IME (input method editor) to display Asian characters.
This IME used to work really well with other phones, but with TP2, some of the symbols don't come out well.
For example, Fn+H comes out as "\", not ";" , and Fn+J comes out as "/" not ":". The latter problem is very annoying, because it basically prevents entering web address with the sliding keyboard.
When I raised this issue with the developer, they said the IME has worked with almost every PDA-phone, including Touch Pro, but the non-Microsoft standard keyboard layout of Touch Pro2 is keeping it from working properly and there is nothing they can do about it.
Is it true that the keyboard layout of TP2 does not conform to some kind of Microsoft standard?
If so, is there any way to fix it?
