Battery still charging, windows says full. - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Accessories

Well Title says the problem, The battery led is still orange, while windows mobile says it is fully charged. The orange led stays for four hours in orange mode while windows doesn't give ant glimp. I used different roms, and all will give the same problem.
I tried the drain solutions which are given in the wiki pages, but it still exist. I searched around the forums, but maybe I am using the wrong search terms. I am sorry for the inconvinience,
Pieter

Well strange thing is that windows is a little messy with bigger batteries. the meter goes up and down. But with four different 3200mah and 1 48oomah which drains within a day, you might say it aint a battery problem.

Strange behaivour...
I pressume it´s a new battery... if not perhaps battery it´s comming to it´s end
A hard reset could be an option too
Hope it helped,

Also try a hard reset with full charge on the batteries
Hope it helps,

Let your battery charge for 12 hours if it's a new one. Don't bother about windows' saying full. Let the light turn green.

Dead XDA IIs (BA)

Hi all,
Noob user here
I've a problem with my XDA IIs that I thought I'd get some advice on rather than dispensing of it. Basically...it won't switch on. When plugged into mains the red light comes on for a bit then goes off.
Phone was working perfectly, put it in my pocket got home and nothing, assumed it crashed but doesn't respond to anything. Has been sat on my wardrobe for over a year but could do with using it for sat nav.
Any advice on what to try? Could be the battrey but don't wanna fork out extra cash for a new one as it's even more money lost
If I wasn't to fix it, any idea on what it's worth? Screen is unmarked and it has all standard accessories with it.
Ta
Save you BA man! More or less it's the battery (I think). Or the internal battery is drained to 0%. Have you tried charging it first for a couple of minutes?
Yeah tried charging overnight. Charge light comes on for a bit then goes out. Does the same thing when connected via usb, red light comes on but it doesn't register on the pc.
Was working fine but then one day it just woudn't come on. Would like to keep it if I can, got a touch diamond too now, but this is actually a better phone to use!
try to use a different battery first. And let's see what happens next.
Yeah, I may have to but want to avoid as much extra cost as I can
Bit more info, using the docking station plugged into the mains:
Batt alone - Charge light on dock comes on.
BA alone - Red light on BA comes on.
BA with batt attached - no lights on.
Any ideas??
can you try to put it in bootloader mode?

Don't know how to
Plus it doesn't actualls switch on or register on the PC, so can I do much to it?
It's just like what I did with my BA a few days ago, I am flashing it with a new ROM and while in the process I intentionally unplugged the cable during the process and I got an error on my PC and my BA does not turn on anymore. I tried to put it in bootloader mode a couple of times and it did and I re-flashed it again. And it works. Check the wiki...

no need to buy at once, borrow first, then if your BA works using another's batt, thats the time you need to decide spending... cheers
The same problem I had!!!!!!!!!!
I had this trouble... and... YUP!!!!! is the backup battery.
So you cant charge your BA via USB if the main batt reaches less than 35% so keep it safely above 35% men...
BTW... if you have your batt less than 35% the OS can be runing just a little seconds so your batt is dying is not truth that it have 35% it has almost 5% trust me...
Yes!!!! the red led Turns On a little then Goes off... so sad isnt it?... now your backup batt is almost 0% thats why your red led appears... so...
Get a craddle USB-AC_Charging base it has a backtrace to charge apart the batt charge it individual. Once you get a full charged main batt, let your BA rest a little on the freezer to obtain a little power of the Backup batt... (YES ON THE FREEZER!!! ) at least 3 minutes before you plug the main batt.
It wakes up the device... maybe it becomes a few seconds on but... is enough.... if it starts... cradle your entire device on the craddle and wait till its full charged... again the green led appears cause the main is full but let it charge more and more... caus there is no led indicator for backup batt.
NOP!!!!!!! I dont do the freezer trick when i had this problem... cause i get it works faster than you...
Hope this works... post your adventure men....
Red Hanks/Que - Tried both those (ok, maybe not the freezer bit!), and stil no joy. Gonna go out over the weekend and see if a repair shop can try another battrey. Otherwise I may be saying goodbye :-(
Phezthie - The BA was rare when new, now they are non-existent. No chance of borrowing a friends.
Cheers for the help guys.
Well it is a nice idea!
you can make a modded battery for BA with two nokia bl 5c taiwan batts... check the post on winmo 6 subforum.
In my opinion. it's the internal battery since you didn't use the phone for over a year. Hope you can make your BA alive again because there's so much nice apps waiting out there...
I was using it daily before this though, it suddenly stopped working one day. It did however crash a few times before it finally went. I'll have a read up on changing internal batt. Red...I'm gonna try and save it!
Ok...keep us posted and good luck mate!

both batteries, main and backup, could be the reason thats why you need to determine which one of it by isolating the cause of the problem. to know if its the main battery, you can improvise by using different battery with same voltage rating (3.7volts, no need to worry as to the Ah rating), but be sure to connect the proper polarity to the BA's correct pin terminals, otherwise, power circuit of your BA will be compromised.
As to the backup battery, you can do nothing it but to replace if defective. the "freezer trick" is actually one of the shattering myths of electronics and cannot be relied upon to have an optimal performance, as it neither charge nor extend the life of the battery. it simply reduces the the power dissipation (power loss due to heat and resistance) during the initial boot so that it can draw enough power to run unit in its chargeable condition.
but since it is not prossible to borrow or no available battery can be used as a test unit, I suggest that you try the first procedure aforementioned, this of course, if you are familiar with battery polarities and know the corresponding terminals of the unit. regards
Hmmmm, my diamond has a 3.7v batt...never thought of that!
I'm near preston, with the origional battery . .
I'm near preston, with the origional battery . . fully charged, will last 6/12Hrs=using it, P.M. me ur postcode + House #, I will send it to you to try
(stick with the BA, new HTC Elf is half the PPC, that the BA is!!!!)
FleaBay'd a 2400mAh (incl shipping)=under £10GBP !!! (late last year)

Cheers mate, but I've just paid for one off ebay so I'll just wait for that to come now. If it doesn't do it I may be selling up...
Fingers crossed
Ok, new battrey arrived this morning. Gave it a charge and just tried it...
....no change
Screen, green and blue top corner and red end call lights momentarily flash when I press the power button. Then nothing.
Both batteries seem to charge in the cradle but not in the phone.
So, any other suggestions oh technically superior ones??
Btw, I received 2 batteries this morning, so I've listed the new one to get some cash back here:

Problem: Battery shows 100% always

EDIT: The problem was that the battery driver isn't the best. At 3.99V it switched to 99%. So the problem is fixed now!
Hi guys.
I have a problem wih my Artemis. After flashing the USPL and a M6.5 ROM it always shows the Battery to be 100% changed and doesn't want to charge it. But I'm sure it isn't 100%.
The ROM isn't the problem cause with the device fully of the same thing happens if trieing it.
I tried to flash the SPL back but I only get errors.
Any help would be cool
Thanks

Hi,
Are you sure that isn't the ROM?
however you haven't tried to mount the original ROM?
bye,
Silvio
OK Answer: I'm sure. I tried 10 ROMs (7 cooked, the original, a HTC English original and HTC German Original). I tried 4 SPLs (Both USPLs (Pof, Cmonex) Original SPL and HTC WWE SPL). I tried 4 Radios too. I checked the Battery with a voltmeter several times and I got first 4.17V (seemd to be nearly full then) and second time I got 4.12 (sure it wasn't full anymore). Now I'm already running it in standby with GSM on for 6h and it still shows 100%. So I'm sure it isn't the ROM SPL or Radio.
Only things left are IPL or OEMSPL. Or maybe the Info recieved from the battery.
Thanks for your reply guy.
Any help would be nice.
then you tried to keep the pocket PC on for a day? to me the battery falls below 100% for 6 hours more or less ...
P.S. the battery is a 3.7V... 4.17-12V ...is full!
Bye,
Silvio
The battery is full at 4.2V as written on it. Compared to my Kaiser it sould only have 80% with 4.12V. And yea I'll leave it on till it goes off itself to know when the battery is empty. When it is empty I'm sure I can't carge anymore if it still thinks it is full but for that problem I have a 4.5V AC/DC adaptor to recharge the battery.
By the way which sence do the 3rd and 4th pin have? They don't have any voltage. Are they for the Vibration motor or do they transmit the charging state to the phone?

P.S. when my battery is fully charged 3.9V marks... sorry for my imperfect english
No problem. Maybe I have to connect + to - very short to get the Voltage down. But first I'll just let it lay there in standby with phone on and see how it goes. Then if it goes off I'm sure the battery is empty. then I can start bench the Charging with external system.
That won't solve the problem but then I'll have a benchmark.
Thanks for your infos and tips.
And your English is no problem to me.

Hi
if I may ask do you happen to have any better driver or how did you manage to fix your problem as i happen to have the same.
thanks in advance.
Didn't work. But anyway as I said in first post the problem is fixed. The battery has just a very bad voltage curve as i found out using a voltmeter while discharging.
edit:
@mjonase:
I just waited. It takes until the battery is unter 4V. Then it switched to 99%. The driver isn't the problem just the OEMSPL and the battery itself. Just switch on bluetooth and phone and keep the device on. After max 1h the battery level bar will change.
thanks @ChrBeck it seems i gut a different prob altogether mine seems to be a faulty h/w ,charges up and shows 100% if i remove it from the charger the battery drops quite quick, and when i reset it comes back with almost nothing left but when i charge the battery externally it can keep the charge for approx 2-2 1/2 days. so my artemis does false charge ups i guess.
Yea I think it doesn't charge right.
That is a different problem.

Bricked TP2 after charging on notebook usb

Hey guys I am really scared that my TP2 is bricked after I booted android and used it a while I connected it with my notebook usb cable and charged it. I had 51% at the beginning. After 10 minutes I had 67% and 5minutes later it reboots without doing anything! And since then it never starts again! When I press power button it does nothing! Only when connecting to a charger it boots up but only in bootloader mode and crashes after about 5-15 seconds!
Can someone pleeeeeeease help me?!?!?!

Is there any way to completely reset everything because it is always booting in bootloader when I connect with charger and then putting the battery in. When the battery is inside and I connect the charger nothing happens and when I put the power button there also happens nothing!

You could try the T-mobile store and see if they can let you test one out,
as for the reset you can try Hard reset by pressing POWER+SEND+END buttons then when the screen comes up hit VOLUME UP key.
But definetly try a new battery frist if you can.
Edit: Also when you charge it does the LED comes on?

Oh, that blows. im trying to read the error but its kind of difficult, if anything you could try to post in the Wimo ROm development section or General, they might have a better inside of the error.
Edit. i think the error says
"Upgrade ROM code error
Please try again "
try this and see if it works.
1. Download orginal rom from HTC.com
2. Remove HTC Battery
3. Remove SD-Card
3. Connect the Phone to USB-Computer
4. Start-up the phone in the Tree-color screen
5. If everything is right, in the bottom you will see USB
6. Start-up the update on your computer (rom you've downloaded from htc.com)
7. Run the Update
8. Your phone will boot after it succesfull install
9. Place the battery and SD-Cart back in the Phone
I have the exact same problem from running Haret while plugged into AC power thinking it was charging, but obviously it wasn't. Never trust the battery meter in the Android ports. They are so far out it's just dangerous if this is the result of a dead battery whilst running it in my opinion.
My problem is identical to yours, even the error code on the bootloader. I can get it charged to a point where the bootloader will stay on for a maximum of about 8 seconds, but I can't get any more charge into it than that.
What you need to do (I hope) is to charge your battery in some other way. I have bought a battery charger from eBay HERE (still waiting for it at the moment), or if possible, you could get hold of another battery that is already charged, another TP2 to charge your battery, or a desktop cradle that has a second battery charging port. I'm pretty confident that it if I can charge the battery I can reflash and all will be OK. Doesn't have to be a stock rom, as long as you can get a "good" flash.
The phone won't charge the battery in bootloader, and you can't get into anything other than bootloader for a few seconds, right? I started a thread in the General section HERE and got some promising replies. It's what I expected anyway. No charge in the battery = unable to boot or reflash. I believe it is a direct result of running Android with low battery, so I won't be doing that again any time soon!
Nothing else that anyone else has suggested above will work. Obviously, it goes without saying that I am grateful for the suggestions, but I've tried it all. It is impossible to reflash due to the bootloader-reset-bootloader loop, impossible to hard reset, or turn off to charge when the phone is off, or anything else until there is more charge in the battery. Hope this helps. I will post an update on my thread when I have the charger and let you know if it has worked. I'm about 90% sure it will though.
Makes seense if battery didnt have enough juice while he did a hard reset/flash it would of couse that error.
Good Luck! let us know if that battery charger you got fix the problem.

[Q]Wlidfire S Battery charge indicator 2.3.5 upgrade problem

Battery charge indicator 2.3.5 upgrade problem
Hello everyone. This is my first time come to xda-developers form.I'm from china.
Yesterday I update my wildfire S(China mainland Edition)to 2.3.5+Sense3.0 lockscreen(Taiwan Edition)'s ROM.
I charge my bbttery yesterday evening.I turn off my phone.
When charge compalate.I found that the LED light didn't change green. It was still orange.
Why?How to solve it?
PS:Maybe my post have some Grammar problem。I hope that you can Bear with it.
Try factory reset see if it helps.
Backup important information and personal stuff first.
Just try the procedure of taking the battery out, sim card, micro sd etc etc and see if that works...
are you using the stock battery?
i used to notice with my (so called) extended battery 2430mah Gold battery, the software would say it was 100% charge, but it stayed orange for around another hour or two, then eventually turned green...i assume this is because the phone software had misjudged the charge level...so although it THOUGHT it was 100% full, it was actually still charging?
so if you have changed the battery at all, leave it charging for a bit longer (only an hour or so) and see if it goes out?
should be safe, as the batteries themselves usually have an auto shut off safety to stop them from being over-charged.
I get the exact same on ALL custom ROMs, never on Stock though, would love a fix!

Since I unlocked my phone's bootloader, rooted and installed custom recovery I have the same problem too.
If I charge the battery with the phone turned on, the led turns green at 100% and everything is fine.
If I charge the battery with the phone off, the led stays orange forever even when I disconnect the charger. Then I have to remove the battery and insert it again so that the led turns off. If I wait enough time charging the battery reaches 100%.
This is a strange sympton that only started with the rooting/recovery flashing process.
Oh and BTW the way, I use stock battery but now I'm waiting for the arrival of two batteries I ordered on eBay.
One is a Li-Ion 1500 mAh and the other a Li-Polymer 2430 mAh.
Will see if the same happens when they arrive but I'm almost 100% sure this has something to do with the bootloader unlocking process.
Does anybody know how to fix this? I would really appreciate it.

have you try to wipe battery stats in recovery mode?
perhaps this will help, although I had not previously encountered a similar problem

I've tried wiping battery stats in recovery mode and also with Nema Battery Calibration. Nothing fixes this annoying bug.

Same as, pain in the arse!
Great news! At least on my phone this problem is gone.
You wonder how? Simply by updating recovery to v5.0.2.8 from ROM Manager.
I almost didn't notice it it but a few hours ago I plugged my phone to the charger while still on. After finishing my work I turned it off (no fastboot).
In the meanwhile I needed to use my phone far from the wall plug and disconnected the usb charger cable.
My gesture was to immediately remove back cover to remove the battery but fortunately I noticed the orange led went off.
So I decided to plug it again and wait for the charge to complete and for the green led. It did!
So run to the Market, download ROM Manager and let it update your recovery to the latest version.
I hope this annoying pest won't bother you no more.

thanks, i will definitely try this, ive been having a hard time looking on ways how to solve this problem.. also can i now do battery calibration steps after that?
cause im having battery drain issue on my WFS after flashing of ROM, im not getting 4.219V my only maximum was 4.196V. And yesterday i tried charging my phone in OFF state for 7.5hours and when i open it 100% at 4.077V, and now 87% just after 15mins of use..

sorted it out alright, was using a universal charger for a replacement night hour charging ....thought this is just because of the overclocking.
First of all reset the phone . Am sure that will help.

Not what the problem was or related to, it was an outdated ROM manager app that caused it...

Device temperature too low. Cannot charge

Hi
So recently my OP3 fell, in the beginning everything was fine, but then i noticed that my device won't charge. I get the charging message for a few seconds then it disappears and my battery level is always at 50%. So now i have it connected to a Power Bank and it works just fine if i disconnected it about 5min lated it will just Shut Down. While Off if i try to charge my device first 5 seconds i get charging message and the battery animation with 50% displayed then i get an error message "Device temperature too low. Cannot charge".
Oh and when i connected my device to my PC as file transfer everything is fine, so i dont think its the port.
I left my OP3 once turned off for 3 hours with the dash charge and it lasted for about 30-40min without the power bank so it clearly is charging.
Any thoughts on why is that happening, or why my OP3 doesn't allow me to charge the battery?
Thanks in advance.

Just did, and its still the same. Took some pictures if you wanna have a look.
Image 1. Battery to low. My guess is its close to 0%
Image 2. Conect phone to power bank and its charging, you can even see it in the light indicator.
Image 3. I get the "Device temperature too low" error, at which point i can turn in my device.

Perhaps a different thing, but the BlackBerry playbook had an issue where people had to 'stack charge' until it reached a certain point.
Stack charging involves charging for 5s, then switching off at the source, and repeating this for several instances (eg 30 or 50). The idea being that it keeps kicking the battery module to work until it reaches either a voltage or perhaps a temperature that it then works properly again.
Could be worth trying.

It sounds like doing a CPR to the battery
I have already made a claim with the insurance, and wouldn't wanna mess with it now.
Its weird tho that this happend, its clearly is charging till the point where i can switch the device on and it stops, this makes me think thats its an software issue.
sounds like a broken sensor, hope your insurance will replace the phone for you m8

IMHO as it also plays up whilst switched off its almost definitely a hardware issue, also the fact it's occured after a drop.

I got the same problem. I'll reset my phone and hope this will work. **** this ****....

Hey sorry to hear here about it, i tried everything but couldn't fix it and in the end i sent my device to the Insurance company and they fixed it for me :/
Same
This just happened to me as well. I noticed my battery level was at 100% all day, and after a reset, 50%. Then my phone died around dinner, and when I plugged it in it instantly read as being 100% charged until it gave the "Device Temperature Too Low" message. I left it alone for the night, tried again in the morning and then it wouldn't even display a message at all (battery was completely drained I guess).
Anyway, had to get an RMA from OnePlus 3 and sent it in. This is the second time, though the first was my fault (dropped my phone and shattered the screen). I realized I did drop it prior to these issues, but it was from about a foot off the ground, and it was in its case. Doubt that could have done it but that does seem like a common theme here.
So I guess if you're reading this cause you googled "OnePlus 3 Device Temperature Too Low": open a ticket with OnePlus.
