Messages lost after after maintenance on 30-03-09? - About xda-developers.com

Hi,
I tried to access the forum a while ago, and it said that it was closed for maintenance, now it's back up and running it appears that messages have been lost since about 2:00am Sunday Morning (UK time). I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the maintenance, or the startof British Summer Time, but are we likely to get those messages back, or are they lost for good?
Cheers,
Steve.

a backup was reloaded, since arranging the forum was a job for KraIzIE people
so those messages are lost.

had a wierd SMS issue...

yesterday morning my SMS stopped working. i was able to receive, but not send any SMS. notification of send stopped popping up and MMS worked just fine. SMS service center number was right. all other data services..email, internet, gps...worked fine. so i spent over an hour on the phone with ATT customer service and technical support..going through their hideous routine by the book (obviously) questions and attempts to fix the issue....reboot the phone, take out the battery and reboot, check if any water damage is on the phone, take out and put back the sim...yada yada.
they figured it was a bad phone and they eventually offered me an early upgrade option since i can upgrade on the 18th of June. and i was (sadly) considering the motorola backflip..since it had android with a skinned UI on it. but LUCKILY i decided..screw it...i'll attempt a hard reset and set ALL my freakin settings up again..luckily some programs offered to import settings i had previously exported onto my memory card. and now all is fine..SMS is back in full capacity.
i love ATT and the customer service was great. they called me back a few times on some of their methods to attempt, including possibly a bad sim or phone hardware issue. loved that they followed up with me to make sure things were working or not.
but i guess if all else fails...HARD RESET the lil bastard

TrafficTV on orange UK - help unsubscibing.

I got a text this morning, it read ...
TrafficTV: Hope you're enjoying your 30 day TrafficTV trial. If you dont wish to be subscribed at 4GBP pm after this time, you can unsubscribe via the application.

Apparently I "subscribed" to this service before I rooted when I got my phone replaced the other week.
Trouble is I don't have this app any more as I am using Cyanogenmod, I tried to install it from a backup to no avail, also I am unable to go back to stock either as their is no orange RUU.
Before I call orange and tell them to void my warranty (because I am rooted) and cancel the subscription anyone have any clever ideas??

Try downloading it? http://traffictv.orange.co.uk/
I accidentally subscribed and even with the app, it wasn't the easiest thing to unsubscibe.
Failing that ask OrangeHelpers on twitter to cancel it. Problem is they won't be back until monday. Otherwise play dumb, call customer services don't mention rooting etc...It will be easier for them to cancel it on their system than to talk you through it.
Thanks for the link, i couldn't download the app from their though, got to the last stage and it would just fail.
But I did find an email and phone number for TrafficTV on that site.
Going to give them a call now and get them to cancel it from their end.
Thanks.

Not sure if you guys have figured this out yet, realizing that this thread is 2 years old, but text STOP to 84300 should do the trick!

New SMS not showing as unread

Hi everyone,
I am running CM10 Alpha4 on my HTC One X and I have the following problem:
When I receive an SMS, a notification shows up which is fine, but the received message (and other new messages as well) shows as read instead of unread. :crying:
Can anybody help?
Thanks
SMS problem update
I have noticed another thing that might be related to the problem: today was Aug 14th and all threads of all messages that arrived today were showing as Aug 13! Then, one message came that was displayed as 4:30, which means today !?
Here are the things I have tried:
1. I checked Date/Time, it is ok.
2. I deleted all messages and tried to send myself just one message, same problem
3. I deleted all messages and restored them with Backup/Restore, same problem
I noticed another thing: when I receive one or more messages, the notification shows up, which is ok, but when I open messages app, besides the original problem, the fact that no messages are displayed as read, the notifications disappear instantly. It is as if the messaging app "reads" all messages, or this is just normal behavior, I don't know.
Does anyone else have this problem, please help!
Also, is this the right place to post this kind of problem? Can anyone direct me to some better place, because no one seems to have interest for this question here

Yes, I have tried both automatic and manual settings, both with same result
It's weird, all I can suggest is that perhaps your phone thinks it used to be in the future and you'll have to get past that date before it will stop thinking that everything has been seen (hopefully less than 24 hours).

YES!! I think you are right, the messages suddenly started appearing as unread!
This happened all by itself, I didn't change anything since the last time it didn't work.
Although, I don't recall doing anything "weird" with date and time settings.
Maybe Titanium restore screwed something up, I don't know.
Anyway, it works (for) now .
Thank you very much for showing interest in my problem and for your suggestions!
Cheers!
Awesome.

SMS restore failed

This is the first HTC phone I have ever bought, with a heart to support a Chinese brand. But, it ends up with total disappointment. I bought this HTC One X just two months ago. It had worked quite smoothly until early last week, when at one point as I tried to check the SMS, the phone began to take a very long time to load data with the notice on the screen saying “正在载入,请稍候” (“Loading, please wait…”). Even several hours later, it was still loading, so I had to press the home button to have the phone return to the home screen. Then I restarted the phone, and made my attempt to back up all the messages in the phone. In order to make sure that I had all the messages backed up properly, I had carefully repeated the backup action three times. Then I deleted all the messages in the box, and tried to solve the problem by restoring the messages from my latest backup. But it failed, with a feedback notice shown on the screen saying “无法还原” (unable to restore). I tried to use the earliest backup which I made it in May, but it failed again. Since then, I have tried every way I know to restore the SMS, including using the factory reset, but all in vain.
I phoned HTC service center in Hong Kong on that day. The service personal surprised me with the answer that they could not help restore my SMS. I was furious. Then they told me that they would call back later with some way to help me. But they did not call. I also sent an email to the HTC to seek for a helping hand. Again, no solution was given to me, except a customer survey links was included in that automatic reply email. Next day, I had to call the HTC service center again to ask for their previous promise of “some way to help me”. They suggested to me to bring the phone to HTC service center for the repair. Last Thursday, I went to the HTC service center with my HTC One X. In their service center, in front of me, a HTC service person tried. He backed up the SMS messages in my phone, and tried to restore them with the backup he just made, and failed also. He admitted there is a problem in the phone, and took the phone to do a clean system setup. After that, he repeated the action to restore the SMS messages from the backup again, and failed again. So he decided that there was a software issue. He gave me back the phone and told me to wait for a software fix.
After I waited many days with no feedback from HTC, I called the service center again, but this time they told me to send back the phone for a hardware check. I am really upset. I asked them what they would do if they still could not fix the problem after I send it to HTC service. They told me that the HTC service center could not do anything other than arranging for a repair again. But is this really a hardware issue? Or, they just want to waste my precious time until I cannot afford it and give the phone up completely?
The phone and the service I have experienced with the HTC are horrible. SMS is really the most basic and simplest function in any cell phone. After we paid more than HK$ 5600, the HTC cannot even provide the phone users with so very basic SMS function. More frustrating is that the messages I need so badly is still in those backups, or is already lost?

If the backups are in .xml format you can read them on your computer.

Help - Need to retrieve deleted texts

I have a Verizon LG G3. It is not rooted nor do I have any backups. I've searched online and found several programs, however I cannot get any of them to work. Can anyone tip me in the right direction? I accidentally deleted all my texts late last night.

Last night seems like a long time to try and recover those texts. Most likely, the deleted data is already overwritten. Next time use SMS Backup and Restore to backup your texts.

Call your carrier and ask them if they can recover them for you. If not you need a court order (warrant).
No, no court warrant. A contractor I hired flaked on me, so I put a stop payment on the check. He is threatening to sue me for the money he is not entitled to. I had messages showing I "fired him", but for some stupid reason, I deleted all my texts last night.
When I first got the phone, it gave me an option to restore texts. It restored a bunch from months prior. Do you think if I do a master reset, I could get them back that way?

No. A master reset wouldn't magically retrieve them. The only option is calling the carrier and see if they can print you out a transcript of those texts. They should be able to.

Here is a how-to to recover deleted messages.

Do this quickly because the longer you wait the less likely you will succeed. Good luck.

I got them. I retrieved them online in my Verizon account. Crazy. Every text is there.
