I have two quesions:
(On T-Mobile MDA II)
1.After hard-reset is normally starting the install routine, which can be stopped with a soft-reset before it starts(that we know ). Then i get a clean system with few pre-installed programs. But how can i now install other programs from operator(not all) manually(ex.Camera,MMS manager etc.)?
2.I am connected to internet at the time and when i switch-off the device(with power button),then the GPRS connection is disconnecting. Is any way to keep this connection alive even if the unit is switched-off?
Thank you for any ideas in advance.
1 = unlock the extented rom using the tools from this site and run the cab files you want run or remove the ones you dont want and do another hardreset
2 = http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=19525
Thanks
1-When i want to unlock the memory propably i will lose the guarantee. Or no?
2-Thanx. That's i was all the time looking for.
if you lock/ hide it again they would never be the wiser unless you put in all sorts of odd programs and they did a hardreset so it would prob be a good idear to save the contains of the extened rom
OK
And can you tell me please, how can i do that or maybe where can i get any further informations about unlocking it. Thank you.
i tried to upgrade my xdaII to WM2003, Language id error occured then i read some post to handle it,it said that himagetdevice.exe should be deleted, then i deleted it.it worked but when it starts to install that message occured again and my xda stop functioning.anybody plz help me.now the display on my xdaII is black display and there's a text "USB v1.06".
Dead MDA
I had the same problem when upgrading mine.
The good thing is that you can still get to the bootloader.
You're going to need a copy of a ROM in EXE format for this procedure:
1. Upgrade your ActiveSynce to 3.8
2. Connect your phone to the cradle/cable.
3. Configure ActiveSync to use Serial connection only. It doesn't matter that you're using USB, just change the setting.
4. Start your upgrade from Windows.
Good luck!
u guys need to change the ID of your ms.nbf to your operator.
to change this you need to download a rom editor(its there in our ftp)
then just change the operator. then reflash again..
dont worry, as long as bootloader still works - its still ok.
I found a glitch I've been trying to work around. I use an XDA IIs from O2 with the current Asian WWE O2 ROM in English ;-). Well if I connect to GPRS and use the internet for whatever amount of time I need it for, and disconnect, connect again, and disconnect, it will eventually freeze up the connection when I try to connect again. Either way after like 3 GPRS usages I must softreset in order to connect to GPRS, anyone have this same problem? I would like WM5 but I've upgrade and downgraded 4 times, its just not for my phone, its too slow even with overclocking.
i had the same problem~
and found this as the solution from somewhere in the search

Here is a step by step instruction:
1. Download the older version of caller-id from:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/CAB_Files/Caller ID/IA_CallerID_1.20_WWE.CAB
and transfer it over to your device. Any directory is OK. I used ActiveSync to put it into the My Documents folder.
2. Remove the file IA_CD-Startup.exe from \Windows\Startup on your device.
3. Rename iacontacts.dll to something else (e.g. old-iacontacts.dll). This file is in the \Windows directory of your device but is hidden. However you can rename it using your PC. Open Windows explorer, and navigate to Mobile Device>My PocketPC>Windows.
4. Rename displayCID.dll to something else (e.g. old-displayCID.dll). Access it via your PC the same as for the previous step.
5. Soft reset
6. Run the CAB file on the device - just tap on it.
7. Soft reset.
That should do it.

Hi there,

Thanks.

Hi there,
following my reply on the other thread, I found this one & followed the instructions. Since then I can always connect & disconnect GPRS and never need to use flight mode to re-activate GPRS

So far... soooo good. Strange that caller id would cause the issue. I also downloaded a "Keep your GPRS connection alive" app from another posting. That may be helping as well. Either way, no headaches thus far.
Thanks!
HELP!! Im trying to replace my current german language orbit rom with B&B4...activesync was working and my screen went blank like it was supposed to...but I instantly lost activesync when it did...I can not go any farther. What do I do??
I have replied in the other forum, please don't post in more than one forum.
sorry.
I figured it out. Just procede through the USPL setup even though it says make sure activesync is connected. (activesync is dissconnected when screen goes blank but will still update correctly) thanks again guys
of course when your device resets itself activesync connection is lost. even usb connection is lost for a short time (you can hear the ding-dong and dong-ding sound). activesync needs a usb connection and software running both on pc and pocket pc. so when your device starts into bootloader you cant have an activesync connection. but to flash some stuff all you need is a working usb connection.
I can understand that but
I see what your saying...but when your flashing anything be it a PSP, P3300 or anything else where there is a possibility of bricking it, your going to try not to deviate from the instructions...so when the screen goes black and you have to check the box which says you've complied with the above steps and a connected activesync connection is one them...time to hit the forums and get a few things cleared up.

I have the exact same problems. I suspect the BTTrayCE error is from installing a version of tomtom that doesnt work on this phone (which i did do).
Any help regarding the bluetooth would be appreciated as mine behaves the same as described above (it basically only gives the option of connecting to bluetooth headphones...)
You will have to do a hard reset. You'll lose all your installed programs and settings.
If you remove the bluetooth drivers from the TomTom CAB you'll be able to install it without messing up the bluetooth (google to find a program to do this).

I got it sorted, did as was said on page 7. You must use total commander.
solution to tt7 bluetooth mess up
no need to hard reset. just rename and delete the following files and soft reset your device. woked for me.
\Windows\BtSdkCE30.dll
\Windows\BtCoreIf.dll
ive got the same problem, but i cant find the files. its in device\windows right?? where else might the files be?
Rename the files and replace them with the ones mentioned above. It fixed my problem.

I'm using Total Commander. When I try to rename the file, the file name remains as the original. When I try to delete the file, the screen tells me that it cannot delete the file. I have not installed Tom Tom or anything else. Help?
