In the PC's Msn Messanger there is a video option,
is it possible to use Pocket MSN the same?
so that i can talk through skype/Msn & see through MSN each other?
if not - then why ?
coz basically its a 3G phone, so SOMEHOW - you could definetaly do it...
is it possible??
10x,
i can understand your frustrations, for a apparently upgraded client, msnm on wm5 surlly is a bit embarassing for M$. It seems to be the same as the old client but with hotmail rubbish now involved.
you can bypass that tho by creating a shortcut to instmsgr.exe in the windows folder.
so what your saying
so what your saying is that
There is an option of video conference?
that i will see the other side - and other side will see me?
i dont really see how creating a shortcut to instmsgr.exe in the windows folder will help me do that...
?
soz i'm appauled, that M$ can call it an upgrade. personally i think its worse than the old version, no it cant do video, or much else, and what it does do it dosent do very well!!!!
Bloody notifications do my head in, no control whatsoever
the shortcut to instmsgr.exe was just a tip to run messenger without having to load the hotmail bloatware
Long time daily viewer first time poster!
Question is; The new live messenger does not seem to have any sounds for contacts logging in, now i remember on my t-mobile wizard there was a registry hack which i think was a cab file that added the option in sound settings to change the login and type sounds pocket msn wm5....
However now using a Hermes running wm6 im wondering if the same thing maybe applicable using live messenger, is this not possible with the way the new messenger works. It would be nice to know when a new contact comes online, if your waiting for someone..
Not much about this anywhere but not much demand i guess? seems strange though to remove it.
I have not found the cab file i originally used to see if any registry keys may setup sounds but i guess live messenger is very different to pocket msn.
reg hack attached
wlm doesn't look or use this anymore
appears in sounds n notifications, but doesn't get activated or used.
yes I wud like the feature also.
I previously posted but got zero response...
I have been looking online to sync my s620 with my macbook, but I can't seem to get it to work...
Does anyone know if there is a program or anything to sync with mac?
thanks all
Missing Sync for Windows Mobile
The Missing Sync is your answer
Good thing you've decided to get into this now, and not a few months ago. Recently, The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile 4 (MS4) came out, which introduced support for Windows Mobile 6. It's got a slew of nice features, including SMS/MMS logging, importing pictures into iPhoto (though I haven't figured out how to make it work yet), video conversion, and folder synchronization. Also, it uses SyncML (Apple calls it "Sync Services") so you get the nice "more than 5% changes" notifications you get when you use iSync.
My biggest problems with Missing Sync is that it can be a little unstable and/or slow, fortunately it's very modular, so if a single component fails (which is actually quite rare) it doesn't affect the rest of the program. BlueTooth syncing with a removable BlueTooth module. But I'm thinking that this is due to the unique nature of using a USB BlueTooth module for a non-system protocol. I'm sure if you have a built-in BlueTooth module, you'll be fine. I also have an occasional problem where, while syncing the calendar, I get a notice that some large number of events in my calendar have been deleted (always more than 5%), but usually telling it not to sync the calendar, then syncing again takes care of the problem. It's relatively minor, when you consider that there is an pretty easy work-around.
The other thing isn't so much a problem with Missing Sync, but rather limitations of existing technologies. MS4 can't extract CABs from installers (EXE or MSI), though there are other tools to do that (cabextract, File Juicer), but even they have limited success. You also can't install firmware upgrades, so you better have an emulation (VirtualPC and Q come to mind), virtualization (Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion) Windows API (Wine) or a Windows PC for that kind of stuff. Actually, now that I think about it, Q is incapable of performing firmware upgrades since it doesn't have USB mapping implemented yet, but if you don't want to spend money on VirtualPC (I don't blame you) and you want to support the open source community (besides Steve Baller and Bill Gates, who doesn't?), keep an eye on it.
Otherwise, I don't regret my purchase at all, and it makes WM5/WM6 syncing completely viable on a Mac. Now if only Microsoft would pick up on some of MS4's features for ActiveSync...
Is there any software I can use on Windows PC that use Active Sync to send the sms using my mobile. So I type the SMS on my PC but it go out trhough my HTC HD... Any idea?
I cant see why youd want to do that as messages are only 160 characters each so you wouldnt save time or anything...
but no, there is no such app.

Hi Zeshan,
please attached file
Br
Actually you can try Jeyo Mobile Companion. I use it myself and it seems to work well.
Hope it helps...
You can also try something that was posted in these very forums not long ago - PocketSMS. Not only can you do that but it synchronises your contacts and the like also.
Give it a search
try efficasoft
zeshan77, i fully recommend efficasoft as sep recommended. I use it every day, very nice and simple. Has an outlook type interface. And dont listen to ask, u can type ur texts a LOT quicker on a computer keyboard than u can with the touch screen.
thanks guys, ofcourse while working on computers all day, it obviously feel more easy to type the sms on pc and send using your mobile network operator. I will try the softwares recommended over here. Thanks alot.

Your obviously wrong about both of your answers: There are such apps (as listed by others before me) and ofcourse it makes sense to send them via PC if you have your phone docked - not to mention the increased typing speed on a real keyboard.
@zeshan: I use MyMobiler to access my HD and send SMS'. It allows you to completely control your HD from your PC. Check it out here: http://www.mymobiler.com/

Thanks sep910, mib1800 and bigmaz, I tried efficasoft and it works great. I will try other application mentioned..
MAMeingast, great application you have told us here
Old topic, but i need to make it work for me now.
I have Windows 7 x64, and none of the programs is working correctly.
- efficasoft install the cab but then the windows client gives me a timeout error.
- PocketSMS after installing the cab starts giving random errors about arithmatic overflows etc..
- smssender 0.1 doesn't work
- i don't want mymobiler to see the mobile screen to write the sms, i want a normal windows program that connects to the mobile
are there new solutions??

hey i Just managed to get it working on my W7 x64 PC.
efficasoft - try it with Windows Vista Compatiblity mode and run it as admin.
works like a charm. ( establish active sync connection before that)
works via bluetooth too

I am trying, but it doesn't work, it installs the client cab on the mobile (Step 1/4) but then blocks on "Initializing Mobile Express Connector (2/4)" by saying Timed out connecting to device.
i am running as administrator, and vista compatibility mode...
- Does it matter if i have too many sms's on the device?
- Does it matter what is the ActiveSync configured to synchronize with the device? i have all services disabled, i connect it with active sync only to copy files on the device, no outlook, no nothing....
I have the same issue.
I have over 12 thousands sms in my inbox, and it's time to archive them and empty my device.
Efficasoft works here, connects to device, starts downloading sms (when doing i see a number next to inbox or draft folder showing unread messages), but since i have too much sms it needs more time than the software gives, and then it says timeout.
It's not a timeout, is just it should wait more, but it doesn't.
Somebody have a solution?
I am using version 1.55.
In my ROM (ENERGY 16FEB and above) there is a problem when using MS messaging. the SMS won't send and only wait in the outbox.
will these apps (like efficasoft) will work with the Manila SMS?
Hello
I am searching for a tool, and maybe you guys can help me.
With my previous phone (ericsson k750i) I used a program called MyPhoneExplorer.
It automatically connects itself to your cell and allows you to send sms via bluetooth (advantage: typing on the computer)
Now I'm using windows mobile (on the xperia) but I can't seem to find such an app. (probably because there are so many windows mobile apps)
I found one that works, but it is not free.
(link)
What do you guys recommend?
Tnx!
i used mymobiler
jeyo mobile companion
jeyo seems to be what i'm looking for
are you able to let it sync your contacts?
yes, it downloads the contacts from your phone and sim.
and ofcourse upload it to your phone when you edit contacts.
it works like a backup system. so you always have a copy on your pc.
super, gonna try it soon, when my x1 returns from the warranty service :-(
