Dear All,
I spent a lot of hours, days, reading the posts on the forum about the Universal and upgrading it. I didn't find some answers.
I still have some open questions that I request your help in order to have a safe upgrade.
I have a Qtek 9000, that is SimLock.
I would like to Upgrade to an AKU 3.5 ROM or to one Crossbow ROM ( still under assessment)
Now my questions:
To upgrade,
I will have to upgrade bootloader, because since Aku 3.2 Rom , it needs to be 1.01. That is clear.
Edit: Opsss tried bottloader for first time and my version is 2.01 So no bootloader upgrade, but new question:
Sim Unlock works with bootloader 2.01?
1 - Do I need to SIMUNLOCK before ROM or Radio ROM upgrade? If yes:
- I will need an oficial radio ROM. Which one? Are 1.13 or 1.14 is OK?
- Must I first Simunlock and only after upgrade the bootloader?
2 -Country Code error, what is it? (Solved)
Edit : About Country error, no specific answer, but i got almost what I looked for.
Thx you all for the hard work and colaboration on this site.
Cheers

I'm afraid you didnt took your best sshot at searching, cuz 3 or 4 post above yours is a topic called "problems with upgrading?"
in this topic you will find the info AND tools you need to succesfully upgrade..
I don't know about the simlock thing, i flashed mine with the simlock on, to a cooked rom, and it works, but don't blame me if it F*CKS up your mobile i suggest that you do a bit of research in that part..
Country id error:
You get that when you try to install a rom that is from a different manufacturer/country then yours, to solve this problem look at this link
(the link to the forementioned topic)

Good luck!

I know how to solve the country error, I just would like to get more info about it.
About the other post, I will look for it, but when i made search ( last time was the last week) I didn't find the answers i look for.
Since I looked and didn't find it could you please provide a link? ( sorry)
Thx for your help.
Hi,
1. I agree with bastiaanoskam cause I think almost any question about upgrading the Universal has been answered before in this forum.
2. I don't see the need to unlock your device if you don't want to change your current provider.
3. As far as I understand the country error is due to a change in the original language for which your device was thought (look for MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe) i.e. you have a Japanese device and want to upgrade to WWE version.
4. About the bootloader, I just saw one ROM that is said it requires to upgrade your bootloader to 1.01, it was a preview AKU3.2 from i-mate but I don't really know if the upgrade is really needed. I have read it's not needed for Crossbow and also for custom cooked AKU3.5 but again every new cooked ROM usually has a thread so you can find answers there.

1 - I do agree that there is a lot of info about the upgrade process, I just didn't find the answer for what I'm looking for.
2 - I didn't find a post where is stated that the device should be unlock to install the new ROM, but I also din't find the oposite, so my doubt.
3 - It seems that I should try first and if I get the error, go for the alternative method. I woul like to jump this step, but if there isn't other way, well, that's life
4 - Maybe it's a bad interpretation on my side of the wiki post. Porbably only some I-mate based roms need the bottloader upgrade.
thx for the help
Hi!
I wonders if anyone has the original spl from 3 Branded Swedish Touch diamond?
To make it clean again (restore) for a warranty service.
The SPLs that where here didn't work with the update on HTC homepage.
It just said wrong vendor id or something like that.
This is the update anyway.

If it could help.
Thanks

A little search would have given you this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=414652
Moderators just recently asked not to open new threads when it already exists.

I Did see that thread but I thought it didnĀ“t fit there.
But if any of the mods like to they can move it to that thread.
So can someone pleas tell me how to extract the spl from that package that i linked to I would be pleased =)
Can anyone tell me which HardSPL (+ version) I should be using on my XDA Ignito please? I'd like to use the Dutty ROM.
And yes, I've searched, but I couldn't find any posts that answered this exact question.

have you even read the 1st post in duttys thread????
it is stated what to use if you look
look i could see it
""" Before Flashing Please ensure You have UN_Signed HARDSPL install on device this will ensure your device wont get bricked.
Thanks To Jocky2001 For HardSPL
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408621 """
why couldn't you??????????
Because in the same thread I saw people complaining about errors on their Ignito - Someone posted a question relating to an error on their Ignito and is still waiting for a response - I don't really want that to happen to me, which is why I thought I'd ask...

If you don't want the possibility of errors, then don't mess around flashing your device, leave it as it is. Read the stickies - there is plenty of information to enable you to make a decision
Thanks for no help. Much appreciated.
At the risk of being told off for encouraging you
A search "Ignito hardspl" of the Diamond root forum produced some good threads of which
My mini TUT is one.
Admittedly not a full ROM flash but the principle and Hard-SPL are the same
HTH
Kim
Because my Ignito already had an spl 1.93. I used
RUU_Signed_1_93OliNex_HSPL_UnsignedEdition. from the link in Cozzy's reply
I have flashed several times now with different roms succesfully.
Hope this helps.
I want to update my OS and find a new ROM, but I want to be sure that I have a full proper backup of my ROM before I start. Can you recomend the best software to do this? At the moment I use "spb backup"
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/backup/
Will this work to back up my ROM?
Thanks!
please do some research before posting new threads! i know i aint no moderator but it p's me off when i see new threads started when they could be avoided!
dont take this personally!
anyways, the software you mention will only back the files on your rom (like apps ans settings). if its a full rom back up of the UK xda ignito that you are after then have a look at this thread
you will have to restore/upgrade the radio rom and SPL separately (have a look at the sticky threads on the rom devs thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=430636&highlight=xda+ignito
cheers

just download a official HTC rom that matches your device's current system.
it includes all you need to restore the phone to stock [Splash Screen, SPL, radio, OS]
you can find the download address in the forum [use "Search"] or the Blackstone Wiki.
All you need to do is check your version of stock rom & SPL, and record them. Your stock rom should be available here.
