Does HTC release their own updated ROMs for the Diamond???
If so where can I find them and how do I update the device (does HTC have instructions on the web)??? Also what is the latest ROM version (I think I have 1.37.0 WWE), my phone came from Hong Kong...
Thanks,

HTC e-club doesn't have roms for diamond - not on Hong Kong where I login anyway.
Thanks for the reply Riel/Tim, I have been to that page and enter in my SN and register but when I go to my device nothing comes up... I cannot see the Diamond listed under software downloads either..? I log into world wide...
Thanks for the reply, I have been to that page and enter in my SN and register but when I go to my device nothing comes up as well... SO I'd say HTC havent release any ROM device updates... SO how do you guys get the exe for the diamond v1.93???
Also to install the 1.93 ROM posted by Tom do I need to install HardSPL on my phone..? Because it looks like that package will work with no need to install any SPL, its just an exe that runs through a wizard... What way/how does the HardSPL versions here prevent me from bricking the phone? How do I find the SPL version that is currently on my phone and can I revert back to the original SPL/remove hard CID so I dont void warranty..?
Tim what ROM are you using on your Diamond and how did you install it???
Also does the ROM posted by Tom have the Radio ROM (I think its 1.00.25.5 inc in the package guessing by the file name?) let me use Quad band network?
HTC does release the updates, but not on their site. Only to their resellers I believe.
Yes, it is essential to install hard SPL on your phone for any ROM you want to try. I am using walshieau's Elite 3.0 ROM 9 (which is very quick). This is what I did to install it:
1) Flash hard SPL signed version (which will hard reset your phone, so backup using PIM backup from pocketpcfreewares.com)
2) Flash the ROM of your choice
After this I decided to update the Radio to version .05
In order to do this I needed to first flash with UNsigned hard SPL, then flash the radio using CustomRUU. Now I have support for Telstra's NextG 850Mhz.
NightWolf88: check your PM and you can contact me by phone and I may be able to explain in more detail.
Thanks very much for the help Tim!!! Thanks to all the other people doing great work on these forums!!
Ok so from what I have read so far ( I posted this in the 1.93 ROM thread as well - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2416200&posted=1#post2416200) I just need some of my noobish questions answered, dont want to ruin my lovely Diamond :
From what I have read:
1. Backup device - Is there any way I can backup the ROM which is currently on my device (1.37.00.0 WWE)???
2. Upgrade to HardSPL signed as this is a signed ROM- download this file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400402 extract, run the .exe file... Follow the RomUpdateUtility.exe (RUU) wizard - SPL will flash and then with any luck get a message saying complete - job is done.
What does "1. do not try to use this SSPL to flash anything else other than an SPL file. it explicitly blocks other flashes anyway. SSPL is *never* a good way to flash OS images" mean... So can I not use this to update the device OS ROM to 1.93. in this thread??? I assume SSPL = Signed Second Program Loader..?
Do I need to use this unsigned version..? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400950 - It has overwrite protection..?
Finally - use volume down & soft reset to see that SPL/bootloader has installed/flashed correctly... Then to SAFELY get out of the bootloader softreset again...?
3. Upgrade the OS ROM using the .exe file in post 1 of this thread...
So I download the exe connect my device via active sync then follow the rest of the steps in the RUU.exe wizard, it will give me a progress bar on both the PC and the Diamond, the Diamond will then softreset with the new rom all installed..?
Questions:
Can someone please confirm the above method is correct to install the ROM on this page?
Does the Radio also update itself to 1.00.25.05 when running the exe in the post #1??? I.e. will I get quad band radio support???
Do I need the signed or unsigned SPL what is the best to use???
How do I dump the ROM that is currently on my device to PC/whats the best program? Do I need to do this for warranty etc or if I dont like the new ROM..?
To restore to original SPL I go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2324829&postcount=39 grab my stock SPL and then use the unsigned SPL RUU exe? What is SSPL-manual used for???
Also in the post by cmonex (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2324829&postcount=39) he says "if you have signed hardspl, just go ahead and flash with normal RUU process (no overwrite protection in that one, as it is already only accepting htchackers signed files, there was no need for that)."
What is the normal RUU process???
If I use the signed SPL I can just use the RUU.exe that comes with that and copy the stock SPL to replace the .nbh file in the signed Hard-SPL folder and everything should run fine? No need to worry with the unsigned Hard-SPL version right?
As stupid as it may sound I still don’t get all this SPL/SSPL/Hard-SPL stuff, what is on the phone originally? and what changes with hard-spl download packages??? I assume SPL is a boot loader like BIOS on the “PC” or EFI on Intel-Apple Macs..? What is the difference between the stock SPL/bootloader on the phone and signed/unsigned hard-SPL that some of the guys here have made?
Thanks once again ,

Same problem here!
Yes, I did use the search function but didn't find what I was looking for.
That being said, I have registered my Diamond on e-Club. (It's a French Orange one, so I used a hack I found on another forum to correctly register by changing "HT825" to "HT826" in the SN.) However, I don't see anything for the diamond available for download under "Phone Software Updates" and "Other Downloads."
So my question is: does HTC offer certain downloads only to certain SN?
The answer might have been already posted somewhere; if so please redirect me (and NightWolf88) to the correct thread if you know it!
Thanks
PS: NightWolf88, check out www.modmydiamond.info if you haven't already: it's a fantastic tutorial that will most likely answer most of your questions regarding the fine art of ROM flashing and restoring.
Yeah I have checked that page, great site.
From what I have read there are no HTC e-club updates for the Diamond yet, only updates going to resellers... I also emailed HTC Tech support - I got this reply:
Thank you for choosing hTC. Please note that there's no new rom for HTC Touch Diamond at the moment. We recommend you to visit our hTC HK website for the latest information as below

I wish that HTC would pull there finger out and release an official ROM.
After putting an Official Rom update on the e-club site but then taking it down pretty quickly, it seems strange they haven't released one yet.
Im holding out for an Official Rom, but I think i will just give in and flash a cooked rom in the end.
Gonna try flashing the Radio first as I havent got an issue with the Rom itself, just with the signal behaving very erratically!
Will see.
Great site tho xda devs and also the modmydiamond one to, some invaluable info on both of them.
Thanks everyone on here.
On my SN and registration I definatedly got provided with a new rom.
It is 1.37 in my case, in Dutch.

Yeah it seems that only device SNs that shipped with <1.37 have an update, there is no offical release of 1.93 which is (from what I have read) better than 1.37, but 1.37 was alot better than the 34s and 35s if you do a search around the net alot of reviewers got sent these ROMs which fixed initial lag issues...
I want to put 1.93 on my device, wanted offical htc release but I'm just going to use the one posted here...
Any one hjelp me with the ROM update???

Hi guys wondered if somebody could help me I hanve an orange HTC touch diamond on rom version 1.37 and wamt to upgrade to 1.93 but when I try it tells me that i cant upgrade does this mean I have to unlock the phone or do I have to update the hard spl first before been able to update the rom to 1.93
You have to hard spl then you can update to any of the roms here. Try using the search feature, I know it is your first post, we have all been there
hi thanks have searched about on forum thats how found about hard spl but wasnt sure which one to use didnt want to brick my phone
http://www.planete-htc.com/index.php?mod=forum&ac=voir&cat=169&id=15903
Where did you find the 1.93 Orange ROM ? Or is it not the Orange one ? I've been looking for it in vain on french Orange's website... It is not even possible to register my own diamond phone (which is not listed in the possible owned phone even if it is in the catalog, as a matter of fact).
You can use any ROM, doesn't have to be an Orange one.
I only received my Diamond last week and found all the info I need to start flashing in this forum.
First you need to flash a new SPL, don't ask me what it means. A guide I read said there was a Soft and HardSPL. As you can guess the SoftSPL runs in the OS and umm the HardSPL runs in the bootloader !?
Without going in to too much detail as I'm not 100% sure myself, the HardSPL is how the hardware communicates with the OS, I guess much like the BIOS on a PC. And certain HardSPL's will only allow you to flash signed ROMs as a safeguard.
If you want to flash a new ROM, Radio or Splash/Boot screen then unless it's for your region and signed you'll first need to install an unsigned HardSPL. The most popular one seems to be the 1.40 SPL by Olinex. If you're not sure about what you're doing then install a signed HardSPL for now. This will only allow you to use the signed custom ROMs but at least you won't flash the wrong ROM to your device. Once you have a HardSPL flashed to you're device you can start flashing the different ROMs available.
It's impossible to recommed a ROM because everyone wants something different. I prefer to use lite ROMs with most of the default apps removed and no customs apps added. Things to make a note of are which orginal HTC ROM it is based on, which apps have been updated, which apps have been removed and what extra apps and tweaks are included.
Some ROMs also include Radios and Splash screens but the majority don't. Again decide on which radio and screen you want and flash in the same way as the ROM.
How to flash?
Most ROMs include the DiamondCustomRUU.exe app (a single file). Put this file into an empty folder. Extract the ROM, Radio or screen file and look for the file with an extension of .nbh. Copy only the .nbh file in to the folder where you copied DiamondCustomRUU.
Connect the Diamond to your PC via the USB cable. Make sure there is over 50% battery etc. Run DiamondCustomRUU.exe.
Make sure there is only one .nbh file in the folder or the RUU app won't know which one to use. You don't need to tell the RUU app what type of .nhb file it is either.
The modmydiamond site has most of the Q&A in one place about flashing ROMS on your handset.
Hi,
I have recently purchased a HTC Touch Diamond. I purchased it from Orange UK on contract
My current ROM version is: 1.37.405.1 WWE
Ive tried downloading the ROM from HTC website it says device not supported
Can somebody tell me how to update to latest 1.93 ROM. Anyone here that has bought the phone from Orange UK
PLZ HELP!!
You need to install hardspl in order to install any other ROM than the carrier's stock ROM.
I have a Diamond on Orange UK contract which came with the same ROM.
You need to install HardSPL before flashing any ROM other than an Official Orange UK ROM. I tried the official HTC ROM however I much prefer Dutty's ROM as it yielded better performance. I currently use Dutty's 1.5 and will probably flash 1.7 when it is released this weekend.
How about teh offical 1.93 ROM will I be able to flash that
Can you give me the exact method you used also the hard spl version etc signed or unsigned
As far as I am aware Orange UK haven't released an updated Orange branded ROM yet for the diamond, so the only way to flash a new ROM, whether official HTC 1.93 or other 'cooked' rom based on the official rom is to flash HardSPL 1.4 first (unsigned). If you are not comfortable doing that (there are plenty of threads on the subject), then you will have to wait until Orange UK launch their version of an official HTC rom, probably complete with Orange branded TouchFlo 3D - yuck!.
I used the information in the WIKI useful which contains a link to the following site which gives step by step instructions -
http://www.modmydiamond.info/
You can download the latest European ROM from
http://rapidshare.com/files/1376163...igned_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship.exe
Is this really the case, only way to flash is via hardspl?
I only ask because I have flashed mine twice now with official roms just by extracting the file and running it - worked both times without problems.
Tad confuddled...

Yes, it is. But is not a hard thing to do. Use Hardspl 1.40 (unsigned) and then flash the rom you want

No, you do not always need HardSPL, this depending if your device is CID Locked or unlocked.
Carrier Id or CID - commonly used in the form `CID-Unlocking`. If you purchase your phone (example) from Orange UK (Orange is the 'carrier'), your phone will only accept Orange ROMs or official ROMs (the carrier's ROMs or HTC). If you want to flash ROMs from other carrier, you'll need to CID-unlock your phone, so that your phone will accept other ROMs. This is where HardSPL comes in to play.

Gotcha.. Mine is SIM-Free so that will explain why it can flash without hard-spl then, at least the official roms as I've not tried another yet.
Will give it a try. Will contact orange first or go to their repair centres.
I have noticed the device does get hot with original orange stock rom.
I would recommend if admin makes this thread a sticky will help alot of people out
Newbie question and probably an obvious answer. I have installed HardSPL and upgraded my Radio with no problems. I am a wee bit nervous about a full rom upgrade. What will happen to my orange settings (voicemail etc) and if i were to restore my info and programs using spb backup will that restore everything

@Windoze9t8
So just to confirm, IF I was able to get the official HTC WWE ROM from their website i.e. "RUU_Diamond_HTC_Europe_1.93.401.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05", are you saying that CID Locked Orange UK HTC Diamonds would still be able to update using this *without* having to do the HardSPL update first?
Alternatively.. IF the HardSPL is required.. would I need the HardSPL 1.40 (unsigned) as mentioned above.. or should I be looking to use HardSPL 1.38 Signed as the Official Rom has "signed" in the filename?
Sorry for (possibly repeated) questions - I just want to be sure, and no one has replied as concisely as you before
Ok.. please ignore my previous post.
My Orange UK Touch Diamond would not update with that latest HTC Rom without installing HardSPL 1.93 Unsigned.
I couldn't find 1.40 unsigned anywhere, and the ROM *wouldn't* update with any other version (1.37unsigned, 1.38 signed or 1.24mfg)
Using DiamondCustomRUU that came with 1.37, I copied the 1.93 HardSPL into its folder (this updated the SPL via a hard reset), and then used the RUU that came with the Official Update.
First of all, I have studied quite some threads about flashing the Diamond in the past days, read the stickies and gone through the pages at modmydiamond.
I now set the following plan, and I would really love to have some confirmation before I break something
If I understand it correctly the procedure is like this:
- flash Hard-SPL signed/unsigned
- optionally update radio ROM
- flash desired operating system ROM.
The following is the case: I have a sim-unlocked (from factory) T-Mobile MDA Compact IV, a DIAM200 with the Dutch 1.37.114.3 ROM, accompanied by the 1.37.0000 SPL. The installed ROM is heavily branded by T-Mobile, and I want to install the non-branded HTC 1.93 Dutch one.
As a preparation I downloaded the signed Hard-SPL 1.30 from this thread, and installed it, and verified it was installed.
Since I wanted to install the non-branded HTC ROM I grabbed RUU_Diamond_HTC_NLD_1.93.404.1_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship.exe file from here and tried to install it but no success: it got stuck at 0%. (Doesn't that mean that it won't flash unsigned ROM at signed (S)SPL?) What I want to do now is install the 1.40 Hard-SPL unsigned and attempt to install the HTC ROM again.
Now my question is: can I do this safely without transforming my device into an expensive paperweight? Thanks for reading
Hello
I found a simple way for flashing.
Have a look here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=423978&page=2
I took the gamble and succeeded. This is how I did it:
- Flashed Hard-SPL 1.40 unsigned using the utility
- Extracted the nbf from the downloaded exe file (Dutch official HTC ROM) using NBHUtil 0.92, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=409425
- Joined the OS & Splash together, leaving out the SPL and Radio ROMS, made sure the CID and Model ID were correct (see that thread)
- Flashed it with the RUU the Dutch ROM came with.
...
- Profit.
If you want only the original HTC rom, you can install it by the original update software provided by HTC.
Simply connect your Diamond through USB / active sync and luch the update utility.
You can find last 1.93 here : http://www.files.to/get/342564/gn2jg25lvr
Good luck
Well in my case the combination of Hard-SPL 1.30 and the official HTC 1.93 updater wouldn't let me update the phone's software: I got stuck at 0%. Further inspection of the nbh file showed me it was aimed at DIAM10000. I am not sure if that made the difference or that the Hard-SPL blocked the flash, can't tell.
btw dominique2222, the file you linked in post #4 seems to be a German (GER) file, not Dutch (NLD)

Yep I noticed its all OK and I was actually surprised but the position ( as it looks ) does not care the keyboard matrix address appearently is fixing this
How do I remove HardSPL so that I can load my factory rom for a warranty return?
Can I just the load the vendors ROM or will this brick my phone?
My diamond is a UK vodafone version and I have a copy of their official ROM, I read this thread

but it says I need the IPL/SPL based on your device and carrier where would I get these?
you need to flash the ROM and Radio back first, then find a stock SPL and flash that.
MAKE SURE THE SPL IS THE LAST THING!!!

I am not the one who asked the question but I thank you also. I don't need to reflash the rom for return but I will bookmark this just in case .
Thanks but I'm a little confused now, how do I flash the ROM and Radio back first and what is the SPL then. I followed the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400411 but I think these are the roms aren't they?
Yes, those are the ROMs. They do also include the radio.
Just use either the original RUU Updater to upload it to the phone or the patched one from OliNex.
After that you have to upload the original SPL.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2324829&postcount=39

mugglesquop. Thank you for the original SPLs but I dont see the UK orange stock SPL listed...Can I use any 1.37 SPLs????
I used the search function on this forum and could not find the stock uk orange SPL. Thanks.
Afaik there are no stock orange spl. Standard spl (same version) should work.
To be sure, get a orange rom and extract the spl from there.
viperbjk. Thank you for the info. I extracted an orange ROM and found a file named "RUU_signed.nbh". I believe this is the bootloader file that I will need to load after installing the original orange ROM.
Hopefully this will work and can send my Diamond back to orange. Thanks
The RUU_signed.nbh is normally the complete rom package. You have to extract it, to see if SPL is in it.
Cya,
Viper BJK
I can confirm there is no "orange" SPL
