Just got the default HTC_Default.tsk and i'm glad my phone looks the way I thought it would when I bought it. I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of the remaining traces of that hideous blu Cingular theme. Thanks in advance for any help.

I think you should take a look in the HTC Wizard forum, or use the search for changing your Splash screen!
What do you mean by remaining traces? Dialpad? Color scheme?

Thanks for the reply mccune. I'm on a Cingular 8525 aka Hermes. I got the HTC_Default.tsk and it looks awesome. I'd like to get rid of the phone dialer splash with the blue background and cingular logo I see when I use the phone. I'm still butchering the names of all the screens so I apologize. I realize it's hard to communicate w/o the lingo down. I'm learning. I'm trying to change the appearance of the phone w/o bricking it with a bad ROM install before I know what I'm doing. Thanks in advance for any tips on where to look. I'm definitely willing to feed myself if you point me to the fish.
For dialers you should check: PaulYa
You can simply create your own boot screen by doing this:
- Create a PNG image 320x240
- name the image: welcomehead.96.png
- Set the properties of the image so that it's hidden
- place the image in youw Windows directory of your device
The third part, the splash screen. I suggest you search for it in the Hermes section. There is also a big topic about this in the Wizard section. Don't know if it works the same.

Thanks for the 411! I'm running Paul's dialer and it rocks. I've been doing so much research I've forgotten half my life.
Please I will really appreciated , when I'm driving I can not see the dialer or the HTC home , I look for the white dialer in the forum without any success i think the white color is the best against the sunlight ,thanks and advance for your help.

haven't seen a white dialer, but they are not too hard to make yourself. Check the attached link. You can thumb through it and probably come up with something that will work for you. Good luck with it!

Might be time to flash to a new rom, perhaps wm6. There are many to choose from.

Day light dialer
Thank you very much for your reply, seems simple to me; I don't know how to right computer language, my be very hard, what I need is:
*The numbers on the touch key must be black or carbon gray.
*The touch keys pads must be full white.
*The frames of the touch key must be Black or carbon gray.
*In the space where the numbers appear when a touch key pad is press must be also white.
I don't mean that every think must look like a classroom board, has to follow the 3G Kaiser stylish type ,of the 3D looks of the others dialers out there, obviously with you genius brain you will make this look like a Ebony and Ivory; this could be the name for your new day light friendly dialer. Thanks for the enthusiastic response.

he replaced the icons from the dash with the shadow for the home screen chrome and other bars

i got i from htc shadow it is semi-transparent but it only looks good on dark background

I never understood the need for a separate keypad locking application on the excalibur. Isn't it a lot easier to just hold down the End key until it locks ? beats having to scroll down to the right panel, choosing the application, then on top of that.. answering Yes or No to the "Lock keypad ?" question!!

Can't have too many Locks? Seriously, I dunno. I have an auto locker with a not-too-annoying delay, keeps me out of embarrassment when I'm at the bar.

Sorry, one more thing. If you are doing it with CeleCmd, can you make a new folder for the new dll, that Celecmd loads the contents of, so that we can drop in our own hacks into the switcher? I understood just enough of the documentation to realize that CeleCmd is pretty powerful.
And if not, could you include the dark version I made in your ROM? Please?
UPDATE Don't want to make a whole 'nother post again so soon. I'm off to make a totally new background for the Cpanel bubble. Something curly/tribal, if I can get it to look good.

Im sorry.. i thought everyone knew...
When you install the background4AllTabs, everything works fine, excet for the manila menues... like All Programs, stocks, Music Player etc and the rest which have the default white background to a height of only 640. The Touch HD has a height of 800 so this leaves a transparent gap of about 160px which is annoying because the programs and items are still lsited.. just no white background.. gives it a very dirty look... there are screenshots in another thread... but i dont have one to be able to post...

Thanks I was going to install it...downloaded before....but now that you told me of this problem I'm reconsidering it and probably I will wait for the final release then...
I tried to PM Nisse and Mun_rus.. who originally made it... and did not get an answer back from them. Seems like the community has beens tuck on this for a while (or it is not a priority). mun_rus got ill so cant really blame him...
Anyway, its times like these i knew a litte bit more to be able to manila edit the right file and change the height of the background...
Hopefully someone will come up with an answer... i dont think there will be a final release... I did wish that Nisse didnt advertise it for the TouchHD as it clearly has this problem.. although mind you.. it does work as advertised...

So are you saying.. that :
1) you have your own background in all the tabs (meaning u have installed background4alltabs)
2) When you go to All programs in Manila... you dont get a stripe on the top...
Can you please post screenshots... i have tried everything and I know there are many of us who ahve done the same.
Just read the thread a bit better now, and I think I just misunderstood. I get full pictures on all tabs, but not sure about "all programs" etc. I don't use it anymore because of the low resolution on the pictures.
So my fears are confirmed... no one knows how... and no one cares...

Find at the bottom a version that will allow the Background in all versions, without the strip problem

so it's in the home screen to.. and the text you see, is it the operator? any way too fix that so it say somthing else?
It's not very important, cause for the home screen you can put an image 800x480 with the wallpaper option in Parameters, so you just have to choose if you want the 1st version without black strip but with the bug in "All Programs" and "Music" or the 2nd version with black stripe at the top but no bug "All Programs" and "Music"

I have found that if you just take these 2 images (Assets_dialer_Normal, Assets_dialer_Pressed) from the windows folder, you can easily just take them into photoshop and then replace them on your device, I did this already and it works perfectly. Only thing is you need to use a program to replace them, such as Resco explorer, which you can download a free trial.
Now the second issue is, does anyone know what the name of the other 2 buttons are while in phone pad? They are the back button and the calls buttons, located at the bottom left and right hand sides. I want to make them black as well

I don`t know what ROM you are using but in NRG Rom`s from long time the Keypad is dark grey like black and looks very cool and also the keypad look a bit diferent than the default one so i dont know do if you have the right files and just copy over windows will work for you but if you really want this keypad i can recomend to Flash Nrg ROM

He dont need a DIALER he is talking about Keypad when you write e-mails SMS and so on so the images Asses_dialer etc are for the Manila Phone Dialer not the keyboard

Yes sorry but the post started out as Phonepad, dus I thought it was for the phone. Keyboard would be the correct word to use for this issue.
I have alos not found a solution for this one although I imagine you can do the same thing possibly?? Find the image(s) which are being used for these and update them...??

I created some phonepads myself,if you want you can create any phonepad
Its normally very easy look at this.I have to send it in a zib file otherwise it would be to big
P.S if you like it but the Assets files in your Windows directory with theTotal-commander programm ,EASY BISY
"BE CAREFUL" with overwrite the Assets files "SAFE" at first your original Assets file in case you don`t like my phonepad on you phone it looks always different on the phone as you see them on the picture
