Has anyone figured it out? What would it take to get WM6 running on our HTC's? Is it just a mater of getting the OS from Microsoft and upgrade or is it a custom rom specifically made for our Hermes?

The title of this thread is VERY misleading. I was almost excited!
There is a photo on the official WM6 page from Microsoft with Crossbow running on what looks to be a Tytn.

Your picture too
Here is an article with a couple videos of Windows Mobile 6. One video shows Windows Mobile 6 in action and the other shows different devices with Windows Mobile 6 installed. Three of the devices are from HTC. They highlight a HTC Typhoon, a HTC Excalibur, and what looks like an HTC Herald. I just hope that the Windows Mobile 6 version has 3G.

No kidding I almost p'd my pants.
Bad Bad title.
the good old forum search for WM6 would have turned up plenty of reading on this topic.
lol So i see i got all of your attention, i guess its misleading because there's no "?" at the end and thats the whole point of my topic
But the fact of the matter is still not answered, i know there's lots of topics on WM6 but nothing as far as our Hermes so now that i got your attention can we put our head together and figure something out because if we wait for HTC to come up with something our phones most likely die out before we can get anything out of them.....
Be careful what you wish for. My old Dell Axim X50v came with Windows Mobile 2003SE on it.. everybody clammored for WM5 once it came out. Once we got the upgrade, it was a terrible upgrade with the MS BT stack, and a bunch of apps that previously worked, that now didn't... a LOT of the aximsite members went back to 2003SE.
By the way, the stickied thread about cooked ROMs has a large amount of discussion about WM6 (crossbow) already.
hahaha thanks for the teasing

Bimboy i am aware of the x50's and those upgrades, i owned one before i got the x51v and i am a member of aximsite as well but if you did some reading in to that x50 problem you would have noticed that they cant compare the x50 upgrade to WM5 as what would it take to update the x51v to WM6 as is not the same comparison and OS systems.... and WM5 is not much different then WM6 as what Mobile 2003 was to WM5.....
Also in the end read on how many guys are still enjoying their x50's with WM5 on them as well...So i think the HTC is very likely able to handled WM6 in the end.
I like wm6

@spirit: I see in another thread you got WM6 AND won an 8525? Lucky dog! I didn't get your comment in that post, though - something like "I guess WM6 is useless now?"
In the post above you write that you like WM6. You got it on your 8525?

My vote goes YES

Did the Cavalier ever get produced by HTC? I thought it was postponed indefinitely?

YES - Own forum
Yes it should have it's own forum.
It has a different processor, different features and is bound to have different nuances and problems.

course it'll get its own forum. you just need to PM the right admin

cool it'll be there soon, no need for a poll for this kind of thing.
Does anyone know the status of getting a Cavalier forum up and running? I've had my Cavalier for a few months know (Dopod C730) and I'm finding the forum info about it is getting spread all over the place since it doesn't have a home anywhere.
I'm especially interested in any solutions to the text input problem with Windows Live Search since that's a show-stopper for me.
PLEASE MAKE A CAVALIER FORUM. (Sorry to raise my voice like that. )
to echo everyone's posts...a Cavalier section would be greatly appreciated/needed....please mods make it happen.......
Any update on this? Us Dopod C730 owners would love not wading through Excalibur posts.
Support to have a Cavalier forum
YES
Yes, it should. It's hard to find the appropriate posts mixed in a dozen forums.
Thanks,
Sandro
DOPOD C730
Agree, I need to unlock my Hongkong C730, and flash Singapore ROM to support Chinese Simplified. thanks
Please,
I vote Yes for a Cavalier forum!
Thanks.
I have to agree, I do not see why there would not be a separate Cavalier / c730
section.
What about a forum for the ipaq hx4700? I know that this website is for HTC PDAs but, the hx4700 was also called the Roadster in some markets and made by HTC. Considering that there's a thread over in the upgrading section with 595,000 views and almost 2000 posts on the hx4700 (and that's just one thread) I think there would be a strong interest in a dedicated forum. Many of the posts are from newbies and not by developers but we do have Kozhura and Menneisyys and many other dev types who have posted quite alot about this device in the past, with Kozhura now on his 4th version of WM6. There seems to be a big following for this device even now with a kitchen having been adapted by vivi to suit it. It would be great to have our own corner somewhere on this wonderful site for our community.
Thank you for the consideration.

Yes, sounds a very good idea
Dirk
Great idea!
Based on what I was able to see this had a 2003 rom and came out in 2004.
We have added a lot of forums for the new devices and I am not sure if there will be enough users to justify a section a few years late.

That is true, however HP did do a (poor) WM5 upgrade and there are at least two unofficial WM6 ROMs. The hx4700 was ahead of its time and still powerful compared to many on the market today; probably because it doesn't have an inbuilt phone.
There is this thread which is nearly up to 2,000 posts; many of the smart phone forums on XDA developers have nowhere near as many posts in total.
If there was a forum just for the hx4700, then maybe that would entice other hx4700 owners to join up to talk things other than just the ROMs.
I bet there are a few super users that would be happy to moderate a dedicated kx4700 forum too?
You guys don't give up do you ?
OK I admit you do have a valid point. I will put it forward to the sysadmin for a section under
Other HTC manufactured phones
Thank you
Thanks again for the consideration. It is an old device but I think there's quite a bit of interest in it.

The hx4700 rocks - nothing comes close for screen size / use IMO.

Hello hx4700 users,
i need your help. I have screwed up ma calibration data and get stuck in an alignment loop.
Can anyone of you be so kind and send me their touchscreen calibration file als described in this thread?

Your help is greatly appreciated.
THANKS
thank u for the reviwe
maybe late but still great...i have a bit of roblem with screen, but the rest is ok...and it really was ahead of it's time
I'm also interested in this. I think it would fuel discussing on the hx4700
Hi, on my hx4700 (alkor wm6.1) when I paired my bluetooth audiphones, it`s fine, just if it is like new, no progrmas, but whe I charge some progrmas, I can`t connect the devices, there are no way to use it.
Just when the ipaq is just hard reseted. Anybody know what happen?
Hi! I have a HTC TyN and for what I've seen in reviews, the Diamond as a kind of slow performance.
Has any of the current diamond owners here had a HTC TyN and can compare the performance? (just say "it feels faster or slower")
thanks!
neither! neither!
And the reason why you're asking that question here in the Hermes WM 6.1 Forum and not the Diamond Forum is?

Not so far but there are a couple of us working on it.
Making Headway
Wozzer and blazingwolf are making some really good progress over at modaco. They both have some custom 6.1 ROMs to tide people over in the mean time. Adrenalyne has some too.
How about now?
Welcome to forums
