Hi all,
I've searched the whole forum for such an application but had no luck.
You know there are some application (callcheater, soundcover) for symbian that add background noises when you are in a call. For example traffic jam, airport , door bell ...
So , I 've came accross on such application working on WM, but there
is a problem. It needs eVB (eMbedded Visual Basic RunTime) to run
so I cannot test if it works.
The application is called Gettago
Will this work ? What do you think ?

Recently i was thinking about creating an app which would show me my remaining calltime with one of polish prepaid services. I imagine it would work like that:
1. receiving a specific text message with my account balance from my operator the app would capture it and store the value
2. after each call being made operator sends sms with call cost. this should be deducted from previously stored value. etc etc.
3. value should be displayed somewhere, like on today plugin...
seems simple, but theres a catch;] i can't code for WM5. i just got myself delphi 2006 today and i see it has limited CF support so i can create applicatons... but am i able to create Dlls? also i don't have clue about creating dll's at all, especialy those for WM5. is it even possible with .net? is there any chance for me?
i know, i know, i shoud start to use c++ long time ago, but i'm affraid it' might be a bit to late for me;]
ps. is there anything like WM5 sdk, any guide kit for programmers, specs of any kind? where to look for it? thanks for any help. please note, i'd like to become one of you guys, i could even be of some value;]
heard somewhere that today plugins
cant be written in .net
here is a link to the subject of today plugins
http://forum.xda-developers.com:80/showthread.php?t=234162&highlight=codeguru
thanks, gonna try it in a minute.
(today unbelievable happened - my wizards battery got empty )
interesting. i'll consider switching to c++. as far as i understand it's not normal C, its some kind of mobile oriented c? but no connection with .net? how does it work?
Ok.
C++ is an extension of C to include object oriented programming. The language is not specific for mobile devices, so any book / article on the subject will do for starters.
I taught my self C++ after learning Pascal (Delphi is for Pascal right?) in school and it was quite easy because the languages have similar structure.
Your second stop is to learn WIN32 programming. I don't know how Delphi deals with APIs and function exports (that's what you need for DLLs).
Basically WM programming is very similar to desktop windows programming, except for a few miner difference (like all APIs using only Unicode).
You can download a free development tool called eVC 4 from MS. It looks exactly like Visual Studio 6 if you have any experience with that.
Unfortunately system DLLs like plugins can not be written using .NET but if you search MSDN (I really don't remember the link), there is an article on how to use a basic C++ DLL for the plugin and delegate all the real functionality to a .NET DLL.
Good luck.
yes, delphi is much like pascal
i know it's not that hard if you mean the structure. i just don't know how to start. in fact i got myself evc yesterday, after what you say i'll take good lok at it as soon as i prepare some room on my HD.
Delphi does well with windows api - as far as i can tell, i played with theese a bit so it shouldn't be hard to catch up when starting with c++. other thing is i never did dll, although i know how it works in general, i also used other peoples dll's in my programs. will do i hope. also, Rudegar provided us with good tutorial/example on today dlls, so i hope i'll be able to expand it. the only thing, i'm a bit anxious. you say evc is good for starters? ok, going to give it a try.
what a week, four days, four new RAD environments already
delphi is object pascal which is an extention of pascal like c++ is of c
c programs should compile without any problems in c++
Hi,
I saw a way to develop today plugins in .net : http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnppcgen/html/TodayScrn.asp?_r=1
I did not try and I guess it will slow down the device as .net is not very fast, but you can try...
Good luck
Am I just not finding it or what? When I had a Treo 700w (Pocket PC) I could find free themes and useful software all day with out a problem. Now on my old T-Mobile SDA and my current Dash I am hard pressed to find software and Home Screens for the Smartphone Edition. Either they aren't free or they do not display properly (especially now on the landscaped Dash). In some cases they don't even function properly. It seems that even the paid home screens are just plugins and you have to do your own xml. If you know of a good site for decent, and functioning home screens and software (paid or free), can you please let me know? Google can't even seem to help me with this one...
ALL info's you need are in this forum. I understand reading english sometime is difficult but...
Resume and easy start
Plugins
Facade is a good organizer software, fizz weather is good too if you ride a motorcicle to go to your office everyday... home screen is something complex in smartphone world
Background image
could be a simple nice picture or also a template were some plug in fit (as an example if you want a box were messages, e-mail, missed calls are shown you have to design it in the background image and insert x,y, wide, info's in \Application data\Home\xxxxxxxx.home.xml to have all shown inside.)
If you change the background picture also the BOX disapper
Software and plug-in
Any software showing something usefull has it own home screen plugin.
Add plugin info's inside the \Application data\Home\xxxxxxxx.home.xml file (as shown in SW manual or shown in xxxxxx.home.xml example provided with the software ) to have it in the home screen
THE PROBLEM begins if you have more than a single plugin to show, and you want to have a PERSONAL home screen, or if you own a LANDSCAPE phone, like S620 or MOTO Q
you can find here a good tutorial

Thanks for Sergiopi's answer. I have been with pocketpc version WM5/ 2003/2003 for too many years. This is the first smartphone I got and I am frustrated tweaking it too. Many friends of mine from PPC to excalibur as well and I think smartphone is a nightmare for them too.
well for themes u can visit http://ekopapers.com and for other app u can chq out www.freewebs.com
Well, i had the opportunity to use the Iphone for two months.
After that i sold it and bought as firstly intentioned HTC Touch HD, and i'm simply in love with it.
I must admit that Iphone has a couple of good applications.
I'm referring to the vWallpapers application that allows you to put short .mpg4 film as a wallpaper or to put it to play when having a incoming call.
I've searched the threads here but i couldn't find anything on that subject or I just didn't search well enafe
So, is it possible to put that application somehow on my HD or is there a similar Windows based application?
No.
iPhone applications are for thr iPhone, they're written to run on it's Mobile OSX operating system, not on WinMo.
i supposed that would be the answer...
but is there maybe some similar application designed for the WinMo platform?
The only app I can think of which can do animated wallpaper is that one, but it is meant to be used while your blackstone is charging in a cradle..
Thanks...
That's going in a good direction, and it maybe developes in a good app, but is not totally what i wanted.
I wanted something that would be integrated with the TouchFlo.
But thanks for the help anyway...
Hello @all,
is there any easy and free "BPM-Counter" in the net?
It just should show the BPM based on tapping on the screen the breat of music you´re listing. Functions should be "start, stop, reset", only.
I wasn´t able to find an actual for WM (but some for iPhone )
I´m remembering one for my old SE P800 (Symbian).
Does anyone knows a little program for WM (or Java, running on X1)?
Maybe one you amazing developers ist able to create one?
Many musicians will be very thankful, i think.
Thx in advance
Vito Metronome can do that. Its old but functioning at as mentioned by the name it is also a metronome. Skinnable and displays italian terms of tempo (allegro, adagio, presto, largo etc). It has individual volume slider for the click loudness. Supports control over the time signature to position the downbeat. I'd personally LOVE a score editor for ppc... like Sibelius Mobile
Thanks.
There are a lot "pure" metronoms in the net.
Does Vito Metronome is able to get the BPM by tapping the screen?
Unfortutely it is not for free.
What kind of sw is Sibelius?
Vito metronome supports tapping indeed. Sibelius is my favourite score editor. And I love portability. Since getting my PPC I feel like laptop is as portable as desktop
I use k-metronome, which has a lot of great features. It isn't free, but I use it a lot, and have enjoyed all of the features. It has the tap-in-beat feature, as well as the options for various types of rhythms and poly/feels.
Another music program I use is phontuner. I use it for tuning my 12-string guitar, as well as to help vocalists see if they are singing in tune. It can be set for tuning various types of stringed instruments.
I've never tried Sibelius - I'll have to look into it!
i develop a geo location application my windows mobile phone is htc fuze with windows mobile 6.5
I want only to show me, Longitude and Latitude but i can't
I build this kowor.com/version/Kataskopos.apk
Does anyone have any idea ?
Isn't .apk Android stuff?
Anyway, take a look at this video and source code!
How Do I: Use the GPS Intermediate Driver to Retrieve Location Information
thx for your reply yes apk is for android platform and it works
i want to to do the same for windows mobile ...i see you video but it use gps for to retrive the position
I want something like Based on cell tower ID's so I want the program to retrieve Longitude and Latitude from the Cell
do you know how it could be ?or any idea ?
Have you searched? IIRC there are some projects around here.
Programmatically getting the CellID from your Windows Mobile phone shows how to do it in C# .net cf
Check the comments for some info on free cell id DBs.
P.S.: welcome, and you'll get the right answer earlier when defining exactly what you are looking for. For example: How to get the location by cell id (not gps) using C++.
