Look for Slick, BeejiveIM...
It might like to you.

PLS I NEED OPERA BROWSER FOR I MATE PDA2K
i'm looking for the same thing. right now, i'm using netfront.
It seems it is available for wm2003 on smartphones but not yet for pocket pc.
http://www.opera.com/pressreleases/en/2005/06/30/
guys i'm also hoping for it..... but i think that all platforms are supported "including smartphons from HTC" except for PPC platforms.
I don't think it will be available. However, Minimo would be worth the wait. It's a Pocket PC browser made by Mozilla. It's not out yet. Dig it up from www.mozilla.org. I found one of the beta builds from the developer's blog, but I couldn't get it to work. However, we all know Mozilla will provide something better and great.
Also on the developer's blog are screenshots. I'm sorry I forgot the URL.
As for what's available now, I only need tabbed browsing, which is provided to me by MultiIE.
Whats good in OPERA?!
Different engine. Some people might not like IE. I don't think it has tabs. I wouldn't want it.
There will be a version

Nice but we gotta wait also. Plus I don't see them mention tabs!
Can someone offer some suggestions as to a good RSS new reader than will connect via 3G every "x" amount of minutes to download news say from the BBC.
Ideally it'll have a Today Screen plugin so that the information cycles or is readily availlable. Running WM6 Black 3.0.1 btw.
Thanks in advance.
Spb Insight is for me the best out there. Integrates perfectly with Spb Mobile Shell. You can scroll the news on your today screen or just use it as an application.
It's not free, but if you know your way you can find it on the net.
Works like a charm on WM6 Black 2.5
I use pRRSreader from - http://pda.jasnapaka.com/prssr/
It's free, although with Black 3.x I've found it slows the turn-on from standby and means that people calling you get an extra ring before you get the first. At the moment I just have it installed without the today plugin and it works fine.
You can set it to download every 1 to 9999 minutes.
Theres also a handy Wiki page on usefull software....

Doesn't look like there are any RRS feeders on their so I'll go add the two mentioned.
SpB
Make sure you use Spb Insight 1.5 (1.1 was very slow, especially on SD cards)
yup..spb insight 1.5.1 doing fine in my today.. check it out!
I use Egress - http://garishkernels.net
It works fine for me, and is a part of my everyday phone usage.

I enjoy prssreader the best because it is small and does what it is supposed to do.
I use PocketRSS. It works really well.
Hubdog 2.0
Anyone had a look at hubdog, found it great, supports podcasts and it is free too.
Just tried hubdog, lots of features but seemed slow and a bit of a pain to use. Nice that it supports Podcasting though, and the "block connection" option is an excellent idea as it stops podcasts downloading on GPRS/3G.
I use Newsbreak ( http://www.iliumsoft.com/site/nw/newsbreak.htm).
I really love it. It is fast, stable, easy to use, has a good/clean inferface, and even works with podcasts. Its not free, but well worth the money, highly recommended. There is a 30-day trial period so you can try it out.
Ross
PS Using it with Black 2.5
Looking into it, I think it would be great if there was a newsfeeder that can automaticly download enclosers when connected to Wi-Fi but not over GPRS/3G, while still allowing the news to download in all cases. Wonder if it's possible or if anything is about.
BTW should this post be in the Hermes WM6 section?

My question, EXACTLY!
FWIW, I also use GarishKernel's Egress. Works nice, but not free.

I was wondering what everyone is using for IM on the tytn? I have a need for MSN,AIM, and Skype primarily and was trying to find a good client that is free and that will handle all three. Any Suggestions?
Thanks!

FRING is the best.
www.whizzper.com
but you need to have a java midlet manager.
i got the HTC OZ program but AIM doesnt work...it wont let me log in....anyone else has the same prob?
Ive searched many times for a unified client but never stumbled across palringo.. Seems pretty solid so far, thanks for the link.
I use Fring, and for Sype calls it can't be beat.. But palringo supports MSN, Yahoo, AIM, IRC, and xamp (Google chat, Livejournal, etc). I am still getting used to it, but so far it seems to be a winner.. Thanks.

IM+ is the best IMO if you want access to all im services including AIM
i think agile messenger is the best one
Awesome Freeware:
mChat 2.3 http://www.mgslab.com/files.html
Current stable release of mChat 2.3 (.NET CF 2.0)
ICQ, Jabber, MSN(alpha), Mail.ru protocols.
Animated smileys, reading x-status text(icq), privacy lists
Slick....

Palringo is the cleanest all-in-one to date. But chatting it up with others that have Palringo installed is the best way to go.
Now i got a few friends interested in moving from nokia symbian to WMobile.... Now..... I need your help....
I want to really show off my phone to friends..... a good rom, with a few bits to customise it to make it look the dogs
what bits/extras can I add, screen changers, today plugins etc, and a great rom that can use opera and netfront without freezing, possibly youtube player too.... I want to be able to run a good half dozen games too, and (if i can) have good memory....
Can you help?
For a smoking fast rom, you can try joshkoss's halloween rom.
I don't use much in the way of looking pretty, just pocket digital clock, and other "normal" today plugins, like wireless, calendar, and tasks.
as for a game, you could put Doom on it.
Not sure what you're looking for in as far as impressing folks. Personally, I find that speed impresses more than click, wait, wait, click....
Currently I'm using the PDAVIET rom,
[31Oct08] WM6.1 TOUCH Build20924 V27 from Dvha79_ddt [Basic & Full] NetCF3.5, basic version.
It runs fast, looks good, and is stable. I've had no hard or soft resets with this one. I also like PDACorner roms, but have better luck with this one.
The touchflo and such is eye candy, but it loses some of it's luster when you make a click or action, then wait.
Not sure if this helps, but I'm very happy with this rom so far. Best of luck to you.

for that you definitely need microsoft voice command. if you dont know it search a demo video on youtube.
just make sure you're comparing apples with apples
.. as if you were comparing a N96 to the hermes ... there is no contest.
Works great, if not a bit slow
But has much better connection than the one taken from winmo 6.5 http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/facebook.mspx
Oh, and I saw a post about how to get youtube working on the excalibur... well theres an app for that:
Just go to youtube.com on mobile internet explorer and click the link to download it, works fine. (at least on the energyrom)
Oh, and I have found that with the energy rom I get the best reception. I don't know the radio version in it, but its awesome.
Oh and Smartgear is a sweet little emulator. Works great for pokemon red, crystal, etc and NES games. The exalibur isn't quite fast enough for sonic 2 though but it was worth my $10
haha, just some of my thoughts.
The facebook app works great No error events like the one ripped from 6.5 Thanks for sharing
EDIT: In fact, I am using it on my Diamond
