You mean MagicButton maybe ? It displays small application icons on your taskbar when an app. is launched, so it looks like Windows taskbar. I think it is still free.

OK, it might not be the one you want, but this is a good task manager.
When in the process tab press and hold on the process name and the context menu will offer a "Terminate" option to kill processes.
EDIT:
Oh and to see "Programs" goto the "Applications" tab

close running programs to save battery life

is there any good program which allows you to quickly close running programs without having to go into settings?
running programs consume battery life.
SPB Pocket Plus 2.2 it is doing a good job for me
Regards,
Primoz
thanks primoz.
where can i download it from and is it free?
will it work on my mda III?
thanks again
Try here ... but unfortunately is not free

I use a piece of software called PocketNav. All this does is add a lightning bolt Icon to the top right hand side of the screen alongside the normal close and ok buttons. This allows you to click it and a drop down box appears with all running apps listed. From here you can close individual apps or close all apps.
I've attached it below, all you need do is copy it to your PocketPC somewhere (like program files\Pocketnav\), and place a shortcut to this in your startup folder (\windows\startup\) so it starts after Resets.
Hope this helps,
Dom
RetiBar
try this software http://www.mail-mobile.it/download.htm
it's free
u can also try this good freeware : "my tools" by micro cheng
RetiBar
Hi, how do I install RetiBar? It's a CAB file with two files in it (0RetiBar.000 and RETIIT~1.001).
Thx
Pocketnav is free and a brilliant simple unobtrusice piece of software that serves its purpose superbly.

Have to agree, but I can't use it anymore. I use maimaich's (I am sure I mispellt his name) contacts program and like the side effect that I can use the Red Exit key to close programs as well, this does not work with most of the task closing programs except "my tools" (so far).
Wish I knew why, because I much prefer PocketNav.
PocketNav is excellent!!! I've yet to find a better program.

Thanks, MiTULSKY, just tried RetiBar and it works great for closing programs and does not affect Maimaich's contacts program using the End key as a close for all other programs. Only wish it I could make it smaller, but it does the trick.

No dude! RetiBar came from lorenzo_bisi. I'm sure it will work great, BUT I STILL CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO INSTALL IT!

how do you add icons to your today screen?

how woul di do that in wm6,
i would like to add buttons there that i use frequently, like phone, and tcpmp
.. file explorer.. and so on, how would i do that?
For example if u need to put on today screen any programm shortcut, go File explorer-My device-Program Files-Folder of desired programm-.exe of this programm-tap and hold-add on today's screen.
thanks for the reply!!
So i held it down on player.exe of tcpmp using resco file explorer the option it gave me was send to: today screen as plug in.
i choose that, and it's not there!
i'm running jw's wm6 rom.
thanks a lot though, for the help so far!

argh!! phone troubles. after the install and a restart now my o2 won't get past the windows mobile welcome screen...
after a hard reset it's fine. this sucks though. cuase that program was awesome.
as awesome and easy as that program was it just wouldn't let me restart if i tried it would hang at the windows mobile screen.
soooo....
this program works but it's a lot more work.
the tray launch program work, but it's so much work!
you have to manually type in the locations of the exes..
"windows/cprog.exe"
for the phone.
and so on.
but at least it work for me on my mobile 6!
i have to open tray launch again if i restart. that sucks.

Can I ask you a favor? Can you please copy and post the .exe file for PHM Tray Launch from the programs folder? I find it too much if I install everything in the CAB file. Too much stuff I don't need. Thanks in advance.
OR would someone be so kind enouigh to post the PHM Tray Launch .exe file?

here's the link to the thread where i found tray launch separate, it works great, but that first program i used int his thread was so much better, becuase the icons looks smooth when you added them, with tray launch they're really blocky

BatteryStatus on Jwright's latest WM6 causes crashes for me too... pity, as it'sa nice app.

WM6 and Magic Button

I tried to install Magic Button on my WM6 (LVSW)
It's just loooking terribly jerky: Mahic button keeps the old WM5 background color an dit looks terrible with my WM6
Anybody has an idea about how to fix this ? (Or maybe some similar software getting the same job done...)

Anybody has a clue ? What Task manager are you all using under WM6 ?
Pbar settings is pretty good. That is what I am using and I know a lot of members use it as well.
Is low on resources and able to close the phone app. Something I found Magic Button didn't do too well.

Seems to freeze often..
Thanks for the suggestion anyway. I may try Wisbar (Though I'd rather get some freeware !)
Wisbar Lite was just updated for WM6 and has run stable on LVSW WM6Style for four-days now -- mapping it to button 5 gives you one handed task manager control. Remember to turn off buit-in HTC task manager.
Cheers
WBL has a small bug that causes the icons to have a red background in all but the MS default WM6 themes. Other than that it works great.

check available space left

hey,
how do i find out how much remaning space i have on my storage card and phone? thanks

Use this very nice freeware utility called BattMemTime:
http://www.geocities.com/tomgigear77/Software.html
If you don't want to install something to check this, use the built in Task Manager, press 'Menu' and then 'System Info', it shows up there.

I don't believe that this tools works as it is intended for PPC's Today screen.
But the Excalibur is a smartphone (no touchscreen).

Wow, I think I must have woken up a blond this morning. You are totally right, wth was I thinking
Great program for PPC though. I would love to find just a battery indicator, not for the home screen, but something like ClockonTop that always sits on top and tells me the battery life in percentage.
yeah ClockonTop is great - maybe we should ask the author to extend his tiny little program to show also (optionally?) the battery status in percent...
There is also another little smart program called Vista Hide Battery Gauge - look here (XDA-Developers is simply a great forum )
Hmmm, I tried it but nothing happened
You are right, a great forum.

New Notification Manager

I like the new notification manager from the new roms but is there a way to let it automatically popup if a new notification added?
Or let it automatically open if I turn on my device?
At this time I do this with mortscript but its not comfortable.
it would be nice if that is possible, but i dont think so.
could you please post your mortscript, i'm intersetd in it

It is very short:
WaitForActive ("Start",60)
MouseClick (240,10)
ok, thats short
but it only launches when you run the startmenu? or wich windows is called start?
maybe you should leave it running in the background looping

No I add this script to the notification queue (you can do this with memmaid or Taskmanager v3.1) and it will start after the device woke up.
I found the windows class for the notification it is NtfManagerDlgClass.
But it has no window name so I cant use it correct with mortscript cause mortscript only handle window names.
yes i know i have the same problems with mortscript.
i use it for a lot of things. at the moment i use it with g-trigger in order to start my bluetoothconnection and launch mortplayer with just a shake.
the problem is, the htc comm manager has no window name and it cant be safely controlled or closed by mortscript. still searching for a solution to this.
there must be a way to get a processid or something like this..
