Anyone able to assist. I have searched the forum.
After my compact froze I did a soft reset only to see it hang on the T-Mobile splash screen (white background, pink dots). The ROM details do not even appear in the bottom right hand corner.
I have upgraded my ROM with Hard-SPL, a Radio ROM and Dutty's 1.8 ROM but that was weeks ago.
Not even a Hard-Reset sorts it out.
Cannot see how the new ROM would be causing the problem as it has worked for a few weeks.
Luckily followed all the instructions and have 1.40 Olinex Hard-SPL on the phone. Just need to wait for home so I can plug it into my laptop. What I do from that point on will be the subject of a further search of this board later.
Any assistance?
Since you already have Hard-SPL, try first flashing a stock ROM.
See here for available ROM's: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Diamond_Upgrades
Let us know what the results are...
Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately I cannot get my Compact to sync with my PC in order to add a stock ROM. As I am frozen on the T-Mobile screen the Mobile Device Center does not connect to the Compacy.
Are there any work arounds?
Oh well back it goes to T-Mobile with the hope that they do not identify that the ROM has changed.
Happened to me before as well.
Start your Phone in bootloader mode. Means you hold down the Volume down button while soft resetting. Then you get to the red, green, blue, white screen. In the bottom it says "serial". once you connect to the PC it switches to "usb" and now you can flash ANY ROM you like. I replaced mine with the same ROM I had before....
Don't know what happened to cause this problem. But I got it solved that way.
Let me know if this worked....
Cheers for the reply Staty.
I was able to get the USB connection to work but after reloading the ROM the phone has gone off and stayed off. Can't get any splash screen now.
But you were able to completely reflash the ROM?
Or did it stop along the way?
Did not stop along the way. Went to 100% and was met by the finished screen on the PC. However the Compact does not turn in now.
So you try to turn it on but nothing happens?
Did you try hooking the phone to the loading cable and then turn it on? Maybe a problem with the bettery?
Besides that I got no idea right now.
Which ROM did you reflash? The same you used before?
Hi,
You must download full rom (with radio etc.), the best original. Doesn't matter which one. And hard reset after that.

Tried hooking it up to the loading cable, the charger and still no luck.
Have no idea why it will not start-up. Do not even get the white circular light when plugged into the charger.

Yep done all that. Compact still dead. Changed ROM about 3 weeks ago, no problems just stopped working altogether. Was able to connect it to the PC to update ROM again but now nothing.
Not sure how having Hard-SPL on the phone is gonna help when the thing wont turn on.

Here wot fella.... Yesterday i called t-mobile cause my mda was running kinda hot for some reason, With no effort the lady said it shouldn't be getting that hot (like she could feel the heat over the phone lol) "i'm going to send you a replacement for tomorrow morning" Today, So me thinking a refurbished phone and no screen protector, i asked if they could send me a screen protector, No she said, i'm sending you a brand new phone "in the box" so all the bits will be there.......
Brilliant i get a new mobile..... Here is the best bit....
UPS turns up this morning with a brand new phone.. the guy asks me for the old phone ONLY, didn't take back old batt, headset...etc put it in a bag and away he went......
So i get a brand new phone (BOXED) and get to keep all the old accessories.
So the moral of the story is..... RMA your mobile, tell t-mobile its over heating and pray too god you get the same woman on the phone that i did...!
P.s..... Out of curiosity, Which cooked rom was you using...!

I used Dutty's 1.8, but It is not a problem with the ROM, I'm sure of that.

Thats really wiered. Looks like there is more broken than the ROM. Did you try taking out the battery and keeping it out for a little time.
Try to turn on the phone without the battery in it - so all the power in the condensers etc. will be gone.
Keep the battery separated from the phone for a couple hours and then try it again.
I was having the trouble back then, that the more often I tried to turn the phone on while it was broken it turned off itself even quicker. after I left it without touching it an hour it took longer to turn off itself again.
P.P.S and remember so say its the bottom part off the phone or they may try palm you off with its "the battery"...!

Called them and put on my nicest charm with a young lady. She actually read out a T-Mobile notice release that said there was a known fault with the phones over-heating during charge and large downloads. It said that customers should be told that it is safe and a software update coming out soon would sort it out.
I told here the phone no longer worked and she said that they would replace but I should keep all accesories and the battery. I said that as it doesn't turn on it could be the battery and she agreed to a FULL replacement.
They are sending it to my work on Monday and will take the old one away.
Thanks for the advice, was really worried they would want it back for testing BEFORE sending out a new one and they may find my Custom ROM
All good though. Thanks again.

I left the battery overnight but still no luck.
I am pretty certain it'saphone fault now and absolutely nothing to do with ROM's. T-Mobile are now thankfully taking it back.
Cheers
Hi all,
Hopefully you can help me, i have just installed the latest radio and Modaco ROM (this isn't the first time i've did this).
After installation i got what looked like an image of a drive and an arrow, i assume this meant it couldnt find the boot image. I then tried a couple of times to reboot holding the home key but now i cant even switch it back on... even on charge the light isn't coming on
Any help would be gratefully appreciated
Thanks
GF
When the arrow and drive comes up, you're meant to leave your phone well alone, it means it's flashing something (usually something important!)
If your phone doesn't turn on, sounds like you've made a full hard brick, nothing you can do but see if you can get it repaired.
Gutted, cheers
Can you pull the battery and get into fastboot?

Sometimes, if the Hero does not switch on, taking the battery out and reinserting it might reboot it. But if the charge light is not coming on, then it might not work. Worth a try though.
Did you get the phone through a network? If it is under warranty, you can just play dumb and return the phone. They probably won't even know that you have modded the phone. My battery stopped holding charge and would not switch on unless it was plugged in to the mains. When I returned it, they changed my battery and the main board!?! When I called them up, the service centre told me "there was some dust on the main board, so we changed it".
Not smart enough to figure out that I had rooted the phone and was running Modaco at the time.
Samsom
PS I am with T-mo BTW.

Worked a treat, got a doorstep exchange today
Thanks
i was trying to upgrade the radio to 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29, after installing it i rebooted and the box with the orange arrow appeared for a few seconds then it rebooted it self and i got the black screen, i waited like 3min but nothing happened so i removed the battery and now the phone is dead !!!!
Was your phone GSM or CDMA?
it "was" unlocked GSM .
When you say dead... what exactly does it do?
Is there ANY chance your battery was low when you attempted to flash the radio?
Any joy with the phone plugged in?
Can you get into Fastboot?
totally dead the screen will not lit at all and the bat was fully charged, even when i plug it into the charger the LED's "green or orange" don't go on .
Wow, that does sound bricked.
Return to operator (if it's contract) and plead ignorance?
EDIT - I read on this forum once that someone managed to get around this by taking their battery out, putting it back in and turning it on. He reckons it worked after about 20 attempts...
lol it an unlocked phone i got it from the UK, i live elsewhere.

thanks ill keep trying that until it works, that my only chance .
If you can get in fastboot you can try to use the official htc update
WOW!! Same thing just happened to me. I was flashing the recommended radio and suddenly everything went black. Nothing works at all, doesnt even know its plugged in!
Edit: Well... I flashed a GSM radio on CDMA phone... Any help? or Did i destroy it?
Just a question. Are you able to boot in recovery mode? If so just restore your backup.
Do u can´t back to fastboot mode and flash ur older original Radio?
Try this?
Cheers and good luck!

maybe you could stat out ur previous radio or more info before you flash the new radio for the dev to help solve your problem.
as i flash the new radio it was fine on my hero.

sigh...
there are so many thread on the cdma forum for this. if you flash a gsm radio on your phone, it is bricked. there's no hope to fix it cause its an electrical issue i think, like you physically destroyed the phone cause of like a voltage difference or whatnot.
yap im not able to boot into anything the phone is dead it doesn't even charge the battery .
i had 3.1 - MoDaCo Custom ROM, when i read that its recommended to update the to 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29 radio i did and that's when it died !
Well, I can't believe it, but I too am in the same boat. However, in my case, I am blaming a faulty SD card!
I already had an update.zip file on my SD card (which was a radio file that I never actually bothered flashing, having read that my current one was more recent). So, I deleted that file (or so I thought) and put the new CKDriod ROM on the card, renaming it to update.zip. I then put teh card back in the phone and updated via the recovery menu. The process was suspiciously quick, and after the reboot, I got the dreaded screen.
Putting the SD card in my PC, I was horrified to find that the old update.zip was still there (the radio image)! I don't know how this is possible, but that's the truth. Also, I am can only assume that the radio image I had was a CDMA image, and I have now bricked my GSM Hero.
Pretty bleak right now...
UPDATE: It's working!
To the guys that are getting the box-screen-of-death, how long have you left the phone sitting at that screen? I had mine on, sitting on my desk with the box + arrow + phone and nothing else, unresponsive to everything. So I carried on with my frantic Google search for answers. About two minutes later, I felt my desk vibrate, and lo and behold, my Hero had kicked back into life!

good for you ,i left mine about 3min maybe alil less, then i removed the battery and the screen never lit up since then .
Okay so I have the Xperia Play cool phone blah blah, I have had it for about... 3 weeks maybe 2. I have downgraded it successfully from 2.3.4 to 2.3.3. Everything worked awesome for a long time. One day in ELT class (my god that class is boring without my phone) it said there was an update I was like cool, FU sony I want my own ps1 games on this. It wanted to download (nothing got downloaded, I had no wifi) then my phone started going all slow and stuff because it was trying to download, and I guess you can't cancel it which is pretty annoying. I put it in airplane, and when I put it back my sim card wasent read, so I turned it off. Then god slapped me with his holy stick and said NO. My phone didn't turn on, I was bored sad, and fat. I was trying to get it turned on, I tried charging it, no light, tryed pulling in and out the battery, nothing, I plugged it into my computer and it read it as a qualcomm something something. I was searching the web for an answer, I got nothing. So then I tried turning it on by holding all the buttons down, and holding the back button, holding the power button, nothing. I yelled something stupid and put it up to the light and tryed turning it on... And it turned on... All I want to ask is... What happened, I'm so confused my brain hurts.
Something probably went crazy because of the update maybe you unlocked the bootloader and tried to OTA idk, but the good thing is now it's on
Just a side note, the only way to access fastboot or flash mode is by holding the specified button BEFORE you plug in the USB cable to the computer. In your case i would flash the 2.3 rom without 720p but with Xloud
That way you can play your playstation games etc on PSXperia
But if you updated to the latest firmware, which is a lot better IMO and waited another couple of months before the PSSuite is released you'll have the best of both worlds
It happened again, I turned it off and it didnt turn on for awhile or charge, its weird, all I have to do is wait like a couple mins and it works again like it was never broken. I never unlocked the bootloader, I was too scared of doing that, or maybe it is and I don't know it, all I know is I bought the R800i version on amazon, unlocked so I can use it for any carrier. I'm going to try flashing something, and see what happens, maybe some magic will happen.
With more research I've come across a device called a Riff Box Jtaging recovery thing, in which it is more like something inside my device has gone haywire, which is probably my fault. Well at least this is half bricked, lol it takes a ray to actually install a ROM, I got the stock 2.3.4 rom installing as I post this, what I really want is DOOM's rom, but I think I'll just work with this one and deal with it, I rather have a phone which I can never tamper (oh... temptation...) than a phone I constantly take out and in the battery in hopes it might turn on.
Alrigh, so ive had my s7active for awhile now. i have rooted it a couple times (multiple times trying to get it how i wanted it.) we ll i decided to unroot it and run stock for awhile to see wether i pefer stock/root.
well while rooted you have to update your firmware via SD card and me being not so smart, was use to root and decided to update to the lastest firmware via SD. i took the right steps in making sure i did it in order all the way up to BQH1. im not sure if this is ok stock or not. It worked , but idk if its what caused my phone to not be able to turn on now. i used it with the latest firmware for the rest of that night, which was about 3 days ago. but the very next morning i used it for maybe 5 mins and it shut completely off while opening an app. prior to this, i have had a huge problem with it shutting down on its own. allll the time. probably atleast 10 to 20 times a day. ( 20 being a really bad day very seldom. closer to 10 times a day) thats part of the reason i resorted back to stock.
since its shut off and not turned back on i had pretty much given up hope on it, ive tried as far as i know every button combo i there is. i cant get into recovry or download mode. no safe mode, no sounds while trying to start it up, no sign of life when conneting it to charger. i let it charge for a full day. well i put it on my fast wireless charger and i get the blue light rom the charger itself but no LED light from my s7a. i was super stoked. but i dont want to get to happy that there might be hope without finding out if its possible to charge the battery but still have a paper weight for a phone. and if i do still have a chance of recovering my device, pls any input will be apprehciated and attempted! cant hurt at this point. srry or long post just wanted to include all detail!
I'm not an expert but is there no way to save it via USB on a PC?
