Fix
Hi
This worked for me after having same problem :
Open Registry Editor on your desktop (Start/Run and type "regedit") and locate the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services. Right-click on the value list and choose New/DWORD value. Type the name "AllowLSP" and leave the value zero.
Disconnect and connect your device and Pocket Internet Explorer (and all other applications) will start working.
Andy
Thanks works for me too. Thank you.

Black 2.5: Need simultaneous BT-PAN and ActiveSync
I do humanitarian work in the jungles of Bangladesh and depend entirely on my HTC TyTN to connect to the internet. After switching from WM5 to Black 2.0 I found simultaneous Internet Sharing/BT-PAN along with USB synchronization (ActiveSync 4.5) easier than ever as long as I connected to Bluetooth PAN first, and then several seconds later plugged in the mini-USB to initiate ActiveSync. After switching to Black 2.5, however, I cannot have simultaneous Bluetooth PAN and USB syncing--as soon as I connect the USB cable my Internet Sharing screen states "Waiting for Network", and I lose the link. I can only regain the link by restarting everything and not syncing by USB. The regedit trick above has not helped. Any thoughts? I really need simultaneous Internet Sharing/BT-PAN and syncing in order to update medical software packages, etc., on the TyTN.
Is there a way to change the IP range assinged by Internet Sharing in WM6?
over bluetooth or usb?
yes it's on registry... i can't check it now, but a simple search on the registry will reveal it fast.

Over bluetooth, have a look to [HKLM\Comm\BTPAN1\Parms\TcpIp] .
Cheers.
How to change MTU value for my Yoigo connection?
Hi pof
Do you know if any utility can manage MTU value?, I need to change this value because "Yoigo" uses an unusual lower value (472) and Live MSN, Hotmail, .. don't works in GPRS/3G connection.

I can't find a relative registry setting for usb connection. So it seems it's impossible to change the ip range for usb connection. Any suggestions?

I managed to change mine without going to the registry.
Go to
Settings -> Wifi -> Network Adapters -> Remote-NDIS Host
The default range is 192.168.0.0/24
I changed mine to 192.168.3.0/24 by keying IP address as 192.168.3.1 and 255.255.255.0 for netmask. the hermes will act as the DHCP server at address 192.168.3.1
Changing the IP range with RNDIS...
YOU ARE A GENIUS!!! I have managed to find so many things on my own, but this, my friend, is the one things that has been annoying the heck out of me, and you posted this so long ago, I hope you get a kudos for it. I got bluetooth to change ranges in the registry, but never would have thought this would work.
And the reason I needed it, I have been bouncing home to home, and no internet provider, so I need to use connection sharing to get to my router through a spare NIC on my PC so my VoIP phone would work. I was using the battery eating Bluetooth, but now, thanks to wonderful helpful, inquisitive people like you, I have the range I need, and it works flawless now, without killing the battery, and without the latency jitter I had before. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-Rob
P.S. If you need ANY kind of other help with this phone (Mogul/PPC6800) let me know what you need, I probably know it all by now. YOU ROCK!
thanks for the pointers folks--worked after deleting forcecellconnection. haven't run into the " 'enable' gets set to 0 and kills connection" thing yet... maybe I haven't gotten greedy enough yet (connection time). Any further details on this, or on ATT going all draconian on our collective butts? this will be sweet on roadtrips.
That's a shame this does not exist anymore in windows mobile 6.5.
I have a HTC HD2 and I also want to change the IP range for RNDIS connection as I already use 192.168.0.0./24 at work.
Any idea how this could be done with wm6.5 ? Couldn't find anything in the registry.
Thanks in advance.
I finally found a registry entry that could do the thing :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\RNDISFN1\Parms\Tcpip]
"IPAddress"="192.168.0.1"
"SubnetMask"="255.255.255.0"
"EnableDHCP"=dword:0
"DhcpMaxRetry"=dword:ffffffff
By default, the key "IPAddress" does not exist, that's why I couldn't find it by doing a 192.168 search in the registry ...
I will try to add this key and change its value to 192.168.5.1 for instance.
Hope this helps.

Have you tried the Comm Manager
Start->Programs->Comm Manager
of course. i can't find it also in start/settings/connections. in comm manager I have: Modem Mode, Phone, Microsoft Direct Push, Data Connection, Ringer, Activesync. And if I activate modem mode, my phone mode turns off.

try and reinstall the rom again, normally that will sort it out.
the problem is solved quite simple: start/settings/system/Advanced config/Appearance and it has to be checked the "Show wireless icon" option.
Or not so easy. even if my icon is there, when i want to activate it, doesn't work. i press on, and is thinking, then still on off option is remaining. where's the problem??

Reinstall the rom... I don't have the problem and i installed it 3 times already (on different p3300 ofcourse)
allready done that. doesn't work. and same problem with the older rom, i think artemis touch 2.x and with 3.01 too, same problem.
strange.. I installed 2.1 and 3.01 without any problems so far. And you don't have troubles with other roms??? To start with the org. provided rom?
i think is a setting from me, but i don't know which one. i will install the rom again, and i'll tell you
Try:
Settings > connections > wifi > network adapters > sdio wlan wireless adapter >
use especific ip.
and if i don't know the ip, i want to connect in a club, with free pass?
when you get it working with a fixed IP, you should be able to get it working with dhcp..... As told i have no trouble with wifi using dhcp... and wifi to start with. I have the Touch 3.01 WE full running on my artemis
so, doesn't work. i've made a hard reset of my device, and when I press ON for wifi in comm manager, is thinking, and remains OFF.
If you dont know the ip
On the pc (windows i supose)
run
cmd
ipconfig /all
and you get somenthing like for the wireless adaptor
ip : 192.168.1.33
mask: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.1.1
then in the pocket pc Settings > connections > wifi > network adapters > sdio wlan wireless adapter >
use especific ip.
ip: 192.168.1.150 (150 a number is different than 33)
mask: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.1.1
in settings/connections i have: connections, csd line type, network cards, network plugin, and others insignifiant. and on network cards i have: ne2000 compatible ethernet driver, asyncMac NDISWAN miniport, bluetooth pan driver, remote-ndis host, virtual ethernet intermediate miniport, etc.

Did you try to download the Touch 3.01 FULL with Cube again and install that new downloaded one??
For wifi use "sdio wlan wireless adapter" or similar.
i will try another one, black & blue to see if is working.
Please excuse my ignorance but can anyone explain what the option under USB to PC "Enable Advanced Network Functionality" does?
I believe I have to select it if I want to connect my PC to the Tytn to use it as a modem.
Is there any reason why this shouldn't be selected all the time?
Thanks

I am not exactly sure what it does, but if I have it enabled, I cant sync my PDA at work. So I keep it disabled as soon as I install a new OS.
Interesting. It doesn't seem to affect whether I can sync or not. It also seems to be bizarre to have a single setting on a control panel.
Anyone else know what this setting is meant to enable or prevent?
Like the previous post, I'm not completely sure what the functionality of this setting is, but it may be the ability to use the phone as a modem using the remote NDIS (RNDIS) architecture.
Both my co-worker and I need to remove this check in the setting or our latptops will very quickly become frozen, and we have to do a hard reboot.

Thanks for your experiences. I too have noticed that the syncing can take longer and seems to use resources when networking is enabled, and at other times it's fine, though I've not had any total freezing of the PC. Is it the laptops that have to be rebooted or the Hermes?
RNDIS is a more robust connection over serial. It also allow you to utilize Internet sharing instead on Wireless modem. The phone will show up under device manager as a network adapter instead of windows mobile based device.
USB to PC Connection Types
"Enable Advanced Network Functionality" - Checked (RNDIS)
"Enable Advanced Network Functionality" - unchecked (Serial USB)
Hope that helps.

It's the laptops that have to be rebooted. They become completely unresponsive---not even the mouse moves!

Indeed it does, though I wonder why serial USB is offered at all? (I haven't found an 'official' line from MS) Or does this 'robustness' offered by RNDIS come at the cost of syncing being more prone to problems? The experiences of stangeek seem to suggest this. So perhaps RNDIS is only useful when I need to connect to the internet through my pocket pc. Is this right?
(Incidentally, I have a slightly connected question about syncing which I'll put into a separate topic)
Cheers
Colin
is there a registry entry that we can manipulate at time of cooking to have it turned off?
Change HKLM\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\DefaultClientDriver to Serial_Class
