Has anyone figured out what the difference is with this new ROM specifically for MTN users in South Africa? I am downloading it at the mo, because I am on MTN. I've also had a few problems with the official new ROM (13076_164_10900) when I tried to install my usual apps (pocket plus, pocket informant, SPB Diary, Calligrapher, etc) - the phone would hang if I tried to use it after it went into suspend mode. V irritating! I didn't have this problem with the previous ROMS from either imate or 02. Now I'm just using it with the standard out of the box software and no extra apps installed. Works fine. But I feel naked without my customisations...
Maybe there's some fantastic improvement with this new ROM. Maybe even stereo Bluetooth. Probably not though. No doubt just some wonderfully unique settings to brand it as an MTN phone.
I'll let you guys know when I've done the update.

I had similar problems and it came down to Pocketplus preventing the device coming out of suspend! If you install it last (or re-install it) then I found it corrected the problem.

i am using the Standard WWE build and not the MTN build, I suppose the only change is the MTN menu
I am not using SBP PocketPlus anymore
Im Using cLaunch for Today Icons and Magicbutton for Close
in cLaunch link the shortcuts in Windows\Start Menu instead of where the applications are installed and you will not have slow response

I am using the new MTN build..
I have not noticed any differences thought, but I assume they must be there. I guess if you are using MTN, you should probably swap over. Can't hurt?
I'm also using the MTN SA Build. Don't know why there is a special one for MTN. Must be a reason for that.
Must say, the new ROM works like a charm. Much faster than the one that was on my Jasjar. :wink:
The new ROM does seem fast, but I still can't get PocketPlus working. Pity. I was really starting to get used to it.
My Pocket Plus works 100%. What version do you have?
When I could not get pocket plus to load on my universal via active sync, I e-mailed the help desk and they sent me a link to the cab files.
I downloaded these and put them on the universal and it worked straight away.

I've got Pocket Plus 3.1, apparently the latest edition. I've also tried installing it directly from the cab, but no luck. Now I'm on to Resco Explorer and Magic Button. I really loved the alt-tab feature of Pocket Plus...

Ive had my Touch HD for about 4 months now and its starting to loose its mind. The vibration only works sometimes for a few mins and then it stops, its gone really slow and freezes aswell. I am on the verge of selling it and gettin a Blackberry or the nokia e71. Is there anyone who can change my mind and help me with the problems? It would be greatly appreciated as the first few months i thought it was the best phone i ever had!

I have done a hard reset and it didnt help. But I have not flashed the rom. I dont even know how to do it. Do you think that it will help?

Will this fix the vibration problem as well because I dont really wanna spend alot of time changing the rom and then I either end up with a bricked device or still have the same issue. Just on the phone to orange now see if they can exchange my handset even though i have had it for 4 months now. wish me luck...
Orange is sending me a new handset tomorrow so hopefully that will fix the problem. They have advised me not to install any 3rd party software for a few days which should not be a big problem. But i was also told that if i experience any other problems on 2 more occasions that I would be able to change my handset for another model which is good customer service
Anyway now that i AM gettin a new touch hd, can anyone of the "senior" members of this forum give me their list of programs installed which have not caused the phone to slow down? I already know of fingerkeyboard, smschat (or smiley sms) and coreplayer. But I still am in need of a good gps software and the upgrade to TF3D v2 or v3 and a gd application to tilt the screen into landscape mode. Any help is much appreciated!

Many of my applications are not freeware though, bought over the years as I'm a long time Windows Mobile user.
In my opinion you do not need to flash the ROM to still take advantage of your great HD

Why don't you upgrade the stock firmware first to the new 1.56 and new 1.13 radio, supposed to fix a lot of issues and give better battery life / gps signal.
Is that the 1 from the HTC website? cos when i entered my serial number last time it said that the upgrade was not available for me so i assume that i already had the latest version...
EDIT: Dont you just love orange? I have just received my replacement and it is a generic handset. hehehe

To check your rom version start/settings/system/device information with the phone being 4 months old it will more than likely have version 1.14, the latest version 1.56 from htc.com is only available for sim free phones i.e. it was purchased with out a contract. As mentioned else where on this forum, providers like Orange etc will take a few months with there update if they bother at all. If they don’t your other option will be to either flash with a custom rom loads on this site or see if some one will send you there official rom. Software, video convertor http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=474955 this is excellent, screen rotation I like this one http://idevelopstuff.com/dev/WM/Fuze...creen_inst.cab but there is also gyrator, satnav TomTom 7.915 works a treat on these phones. I don't know if its just me but I installed SPB mobile shell 3.01 on my [email protected] It runs fine and looks great but I noticed that when I go to the phone app I can't access the call history to see miseed calls, incoming calls or outbound.
Has anyone else noticed this and is there a workaround. I really hate TouchFlo 3D and this might just be the deal breaker for me.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

I've got Spb Mobile Shell v3.0.1 installed on my TP2 and on the phone screen all of the bottom 5 icons don't work. I think that it's because HTC have linked them all to parts of the Touch 3D program which is disabled as far as I know when Mobile Shell is installed. There are a couple of programs on xda-developers that allow Touch 3D to work alongside other Today screen apps but I don't know if they would help with Spb Mobile Shell. I just use the call history and contacts from within Spb Mobile Shell instead but I don't know if this gives the functionality you are looking for.

If you are using Windows Mobile 6.5 then SPB 3.01 will act strange. And changes the links of the contact to the SPB one. This issue is also posted on their support forum. I am also waiting untill they fix this issue to install it on mine. I alwas like their program. However the Contacts tab is not as good as native touch pro pne. I like touch pros much better.

Just like me. I'm running SPB 3.01 with genesis titanium winmo6.5 rom. No issues at all...
i uninstalled spb shell,it's a fantastic prorgram.
but spb shell cannot handle calls history and sms history....this is very bad....
I searched around, im not real familiar with this phone or WM but is there not a vanilla 6.5 out? I got EVO on there right now but im thinking it has too many options to play with for my girlfriend. Id just like a vanilla 6.5 for her, maybe even 6.1 vanilla? Whats the improvements between the two? Which vanilla 6.1 ROM is best if so? She doesnt have a data plan at all so she will be using this phone for texting and phone calls, i know kinda a waste.
I use Kavana Ricky Remade Vanilla very nice stable ROM also have it pagepool'd to 4.5MB gives about 28mb of RAM after killing MSVC, lots of space on there to install and very easy to use "my gf uses it now without any struggle or questions"

and i'll try the other tai_Sw v27 manila2d rom and it works good for me...
It runs Tai's Herov3 but you will find yourself running out of memory all too quickly. If you want a smooth running phone with as little problems as possible then stick to 6.1.
If a stripped down, barebones 6.5.3 ROM appears I think it will be able to run that o.k.
I've been following with most of the developers here, the last stable 6.5 i can get on my phone was - WP6.5 Build 23016 WWE SAYANGKU V6.9. Anything after that, my phone will freeze.
I have to say, I don't tend to run out of memory with Hero 3... Must be what you do with it.
Also noticed, it doesn't shut down all apps when you kill them, you need to install xbutton or other app killer....
I loved the 6.5 "stock like" ROM that's floating around. I prefer 6.1 because you can use larger PPs though. SNES, ScummVM emulation, CorePlayer and WiFi speeds are superior on a nice 6.1 ROM with a large PP. Depends on what you want to do.

HTC X-button doesn't work with Hero3. I don't know a close button app that does work because of where the new 'x' button is.
Just using normal stuff like Coreplayer, OperaMini, etc. If I don't use SKTools Free Ram or Oxios I eventually, after a day or so get the 'out of memory' normally when starting the Comm Mananger.
If I want run IGO8 I have disable the today screen and then flush the memory on restart, this gives me around 23Mb free.
The new Showcase (search in the forums here) works for the 6.5.x builds (as a task manager).
is better to use the new xtask
it dont make slow your SMS app
Or the new ArkSwitch, which I prefer .

darkvbisions is the fastest for me i put spb mobile sheel on it at first i thought it was going to crawl like u said but its quite fast, but i install on my starage card
for closing the application you need to use showcase suite, it's the only one that work for me
wm 6.5 is very slow with hermes. memory issues freeze the phone a lot. i looking for decent stable 6.1 now
go for a 6.1 or 6 default rom and install spb mobile shell v3.0.1 on it.

I have to agree with that. The latest Mobile Shell is 3.5.x also add Expresso Theme.
