Well, tomorrow I will go down to Accord HK (Hong Kong Service agent) and return by SECOND XDA IIs. This will be about my 8th visit to Accord in the three months of owning a IIs.
The first model had its internal microphone replaced three times before I simply got fed up and asked for a replacement.
Now, the replacement has a defect. Everytime I remove the Sim card, the unit HARD resets! Its ridiculous.
I really dont know what to do now. People still complain they cant hear me properly (with the old AND replacement unit), and now the hard reset issue is just too much to handle. I think I will ask them for a Mini and refund me the balance money?
What do you guys with the IIs think? Am I just expecting too much?
Not sure if this is a defect.
If I remove the battery from my XDAII for just a few seconds, my unit also hard-resets.
That's why I never never take the battery out anymore.
Cheers
Pat
Hi.
I would say that this is a defect/bug on the BA.
Several people have the same issue when battery is removed.
I don't have this issue.
I can remove the battery with the Device turned on, or turned off. No loss of data.
this is certainly a defect. The IIs has a backup battery specifically for this reason. My first (now returned) unit didnt have this problem. IIs users know about this of course.
I just wonder how everyone is living with the low sound problem...
EXcuse me but Jam sucks , i think XDa2 is the way to go 8)
Hi everyone! (Sorry the bad english)
I have an HTC S621 (Dash) whit a very weird problem.
Some months ago, the battery has become to discharge very fast. Like From 100% to 0 in 35/40 minutes.
But even whit 100% of charge, if you turn wifi on or make a call, the phone turns off in a few seconds. And when I turn it on again, it show 60% charged.
So, wondering its a battery problem, I bought a new one and unfortunately the same problem still happen.
So, someone have the same problem? Can anyone help me? Tanks a lot!
Not strange infact u would have found threadz with exact same issue if searched? new battery solves it "generally".
I am not sure that I understood what you wanted to say, but:
- I bought a new battery > Not Work
- I've search in the forum, have no found some one with the same problem (The people usually solved your problems changing the battery, not work for me)
- I've originaly used an original ROM from HTC, but I try lots of ROMs (WM5, 6 and 6.1) > not work too.
Tanks!
same problem here, but new battery solved it, this is my fourth battery for my dash since 2007...

Herp derp, if a new battery and different ROM's didn't, it's the actual phone.
Lrn2deduct xD
I have tried something different: I have an old nokia phone and the battery is 3,7V/860Ma. It have almost the same size of the Dash battery, is a little small. Well I put her on Dash and works fine for hours. With Wifi, phone and bluetooth on. I set to never power off the backlight and open an internet radio to test and just works fine. The only problem is the battery metter is not show the real state of the battery. It jump from 90% to 89% and stop. After almost 50m it jumps again to 70%, etc..
I wondering if the phone have a problem to charge the battery only. So I have a new questions:
There will be a problem charge the 860Ma battery on S621 to test? The Original has 960Ma. I fear explosions!
Tanks!

My post meant generally a new battery fixes it to which would have found via search, if not then it's hardware related or you baught a duff battery? "has been known to happen with new battery too" also can be found via search
Would not advise using a battery from another phone full stop.
Sounds like your Dash has had it's last dayz

Yea...
I will try two last things... use the warranty to exchange this battery for a new one to be sure that is not a factory problem on her, and buy a standalone wall charger to recharge the battery without the phone.
I need this phone alive a little more time because he belongs in truth to my wife, (I bought a Kaiser for me a few months) and I will not buy a new one for her this days (sorry honey)...
Smartphones like Dash are cheap on North America and Europe but on Brasil they cost around R$ 500,00 ($270,00) and for now is too much for me
Tanks!

If the Dash cost $270.00; how much was the Kaiser?
yea that surely calls for a new Battery !
just this time try to get a high capacity battery like 2200mA/h or something because the standart one is only 960mA/h I got my 2200mA/h with abt 20 $ on ebay which is very cheap ! and it stays a hell lot of time with wifi Bluetooth on...
Boa sorte
My battery just went was a 2009 one, just gonna order the 1300 battery shall be Goood! you probably killed it via charging USB or overclocking on Kavana Build etc or it just smoked itself, My 2008 Made S621 died after months too, 1300 stock size battery online is a good choice for this phone.
A new batter should fix it but if you get the original type it's going to do the same thing. You need a battery that has been produced more recently than the originals.
Im pretty sure its cause i overclocked.... but i wanted a nice new 1300 maH battery whats 30 bucks lol )
Hi,
my Artemis turns off every now and then and I'm getting a bit pissed off by the phone. Because it happens exspecially when I'm talking to someone. The error occurred first about two weeks ago and i tried to fix wit an hard reset, but that didn't worked out. I also don't think it has anything to do with the battery, since it also turns off while being connected to the charger.
If anyone knows help, I would be grateful.
i had the same problem and the solution is ......
a new battery
My XDA Orbit is doing the same thing - randomly switching off when in use (either phone call or browsing the web). Its being doing this for over the last two to three weeks and I, too, am getting pissed off with it. My Orbit is over two years old so I'm suspecting the battery although the battery meter states everything is OK. I've just purchase a new battery on-line and, when I receive, I'll let you know if it cures the resetting issue.
Alistair
thanx, that is at least a problem with an easy solution.
@ ajmcfarlane: thx, I'll wait for your post.
Received battery on Saturday and early indications look as though it has cured the problem of the phone resetting. If anything changes, I'll keep you posted.
Cheers, Alistair
great, I'll order a battery right away
i also got same problem in my p3300 so did changing battry really solvd problms?
It will cure it.
awesome.. i think most of us have purchase this amazing handset more or less the same time..
all of our devices loosing out on batt.... no bad..
can any one please update the price of a new battery ?
i am in india now.. will be going to singapore this month end to watch the formula 1.. are there any options to buy it in singapore to save some money on it ??
how much is the new batt ??
I have over 200 of these devices in their various guises, and I can tell you that this is a very common problem. If you are lucky you only need change the battery and the device will be fine. If that does not improve matters then good luck as I am yet to find a solution when the problem is not simply the battery. At the moment my best effort is to flash the device with an upto date original ROM and change the battery. It seems to help but I can't say it fixes them as I have not monitored how the reflashed devices perform yet. I will post when I have used the reflashed devices for a few months and see how they go on

Hi radcarash,
do you have any findings? I got the same issue with one Artemis, and it seams the battery change doesn't help at all. I'm just wondering if you found already another solution to cure this world wide problem.
cheers,

Hi guys, i bought my hermes (o2 trion) in 2007. It came with windows mobile 5. In march 2008, i decided to upgrade to windows mobile 6. After some time, i noticed it draining battery within a few hours and the device started emitting more heat than usual. Initially, i thought that there was a problem with the device and bought it to the local htc retailer. The guy there told me that the was a problem with the board and it needed to be replaced. I found it weird coz a few days earlier, it was working fine. As the board was a bit too expensive, i decided not to get it replaced. My hermes had been sitting in a drawer since. Today, i came across this article on the xda wiki: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtractedRadioRoms It mentioned this:
"Problems with the device emitting more heat than usual, shorter battery life, long drop out periods where the device looks for a network or other "odd" intermittent radio issues can be a warning that something may not be right."
I continued getting signal but the device started heating and draining battery faster. Today, i thought that it may be a problem with the radio software. How to i flash a new radio?
My device has the following software on it
Rom: schap's 4.31
Date: 10/03/07
Radio version: 1.48.00.10
Would flashing a windows 6.5 version solve the problem? Thanks for your inputs gys.
ok, i upgraded to joshkoss's light 6.5 rom but the radio didnt get updated. Can somebody direct me to a rom which contains it's own radio? thanks.
you've got a pm from me
i flashed the latest radio. seems that something is wrong with the device itself. it still heats up and battery end fast when i activate my phone function.

try taking it apart and cleaning out all the dust?
I had this problem, i opened and i noticed that the camera wasn't in the right position. Now it works perfectly
Camera not in right position ? Care to explain further?
If you open it you'll notice that the camera is linked to the rest of the phone with a very small connection and can move from its place (sorry for my english). I don't know why but it moved from the right position and so some electric contact didn't work very well, causing fast battery drain and warming the phone. I just put it in the right position
Battery life and WM 6.0
Have had similar issuses with mine but now seem all OK, flashed with Hardspl to permanently unlock the ROM, and make bootloader freely accessiable to all other flash programs, and then downloaded and flashed with Dark Visions ROM and now battery lasts all day instead of 60 minutes.
I has become so frustrated with the 60 minute battery life i had purchased a new battery only to discover it was the ROM and not the Battery.
Apparently the battery monitor software in WM 6.0 drains the battery real fast
I am still searching for a ROM that lets me connect to Telsra in Australia and can open email attachements, but I am real close to what I want out of my JasJam
How is that even possible?
I have attached 2 screnshoot of a Galaxy Nexus battery drain.
My phone is 100% stock, I just restored the nexus official image. The battery should be new, I already sent the phone to the manufacter last month and I think they changed the battery.
I didn't even setup a google account, no app installed, wifi off and there is good signal.
There are no wakelocks. Screen was off all the time. The battery just go down.
(Some translation. Segnale rete mobile = mobile network signal, Attivo = active, Schermo Acceso = Screen on)
What should I do? Call samsung again and stay another month without my phone? Is there any other solution?
Well, for starters you could let it charge for another cycle or two to be sure about. Also I see the Network reception is not so good. That may be responsible for the drain, though I highly doubt it !

Yes, I'm trying to do some complete charge/discharge.
I have similar result in Airplane mode, network reception is not the problem.
Thanks for the answer. :good:
Anyone else with some advices?
No one?
I don't want to spend another month without my phone because of RMA :crying:

I have the *exact* problem (or at least, similar).
I have RMA'ed my phone 2 times, teling me they had done a "mechanical repair" (in Italian, as per repair center label, "riparazione meccanica").
Don't ask me about the meaning of this. It could be everything, but one thing is certain: serial number of the phone is the same, so they did not change the motherboard at all.
Back to topic, I'm experiencing serious issues:
1) huge battery drain in airplane mode, even after complete stock and several ROMs (the service center restored 4.0.4 on it, funny)
How did I test: the day I received back my phone, I have simply fully charged it, switched to airplane mode overnight and I have lost more than 30% battery with NOTHING at all installed, I even left the wrong date/time !!
2) before RMA'ing it, it did not matter if I used 3G / WiFi or nothing at all: I always got a similar battery discharge curve.
BUT today I noticed something odd:
while testing for the (1) issue above, I noticed that the "Awake" (aka "Attivo") bar under the battery graph was pretty full blue colored, which is NOT normal actually. How can it be after a full wipe (or so, as per after sale service) ????
Let's try to troubleshoot this problem guys, because I'm really fed up
...and I don't want to sell this Nexus, I simply love it hehe
TODO:
1) Wipe and test again -> charging the phone right now
2) analyze dmseg (maybe there is an hardware issue that keeps interrupting the CPU) -> after a quick look it seems that actually my interrupt idea could be true ( "Resume caused by IRQ 39, TWL6030-PIH". This is the power management unit) but I have to see during the airplane mode test, not while charging (that might be correct)
3) measure the current and compare results against a nice study of another guy (that reported power consumption on different scenarios)
4) ??

The same. They changed the battery in my case. I did a mark with a marker pen on the battery before sending it and the mark is not there after RMA, so they changed it. Phone serial is the same.
They also put 4.04 on my nexus, what a shame!
I did not experienced the "active" thing on the battery statistics. I had several wakelock from "RILJ" but after a full restore the disappeared.
I restored (again) the phone with nexus image, and even locked the bootloader, removed the sim card and disabled wifi, gps and everything. It always discharge by itself in a too short period of time.
Is there something I can tell to RMA to make them change my phone? I don't think it's a software problem.

I agree, this must be an hardware problem.
To say, I have tried a long list of ROMs and kernels, as well as updating radio and all other sort of stuff.
Now the awake "problem" has gone, so today I'm gonna retry the (1)st experiment.
Let's see...
In any case tomorrow I'm going to go to the shop and ask them if they could be so gentle lending me a fresh battery to test out.
Some clues here?

I don't know if it might be related or not, did you ever use tethering?
Pernsonally speaking, yes I did.
Today I try to wipe radio and flash another one...

No, I never used tethering.
My phone is at RMA again, I asked to fix it FOR REAL, I'm just hoping.
I've had a similar experience since first getting the phone. While with light usage, I used to get anywhere between 16 hours to a full day of battery life, I'll only get between 4 and 6 hours of screen-on time. Whether full stock or ROMs, it's always been the same. I've eventually just chalked it up to hardware being the issue and made sure to always have a spare battery and charger with me at all times.
I got my phone back.
They said that they changed the motherboard. On the package the note is "sostituzione board unit".
In the next few days I am gonna do some test to see if they really solved the problem, I really hope so.

Nice to hear
Today I was suprised of my phone's duration (still no serviced again): more than 1 day (of course without doing much) and only 10% drain during the night.
I don't know what happened BUT i can say also that I'm experiencing now a problem with the network (GSM, 3G): the network crashes sometime also while calling or while idling.
Today it did not crash in a > 10min call, so let's see also the battery drain during this night
...because strange stuff happens!
try update to the latest new radio.. flash radio.img
galaxy nexus i9250
I think that the problem is solved.
It was a hardware problem.
I'm on CM10.2stable now.
Latest radio and bootloader.
Now my phone last enough .
I called Samsung a lot of times to urge them to fix my phone.
EDIT: I'm now on 20h20m on battery with 3h23m screen on and 4% left. Goood
