WM6.0 SIP client configuration - Not working
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi all,
I have followed the procedure in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299950 and now i get Internet calling enabled in my device. However i could not make call. I am using the ondo SIP server for testing, no real service provider. I have tried many times and am not successful in getting it work.
However my doubt now is can the SIP client be configured in any of the three WM6.0 Operating system. It has 3 flavours :
1. WM6.0 Classic
2. WM6.0 Professional
3. WM6.0 Standard.
Can the SIP client be unlocked and worked from all the three or any specific flavour only ?
I think those who have made it work can provide insights into it. This is quite important for me. As till now i have been testing with WM6.0 professional. We intend to buy a WM6.0 device, so which flavour should we opt for ?
Hoping to get an earliest positive response.

im goin to be honest:
1. WM6.0 CLassic --> It works, but speakerphone sound (no earpiece)
2. WM6.0 Proff--> Same as classic
3. WM6.0 Standard--> Works bcoz says Internet Calling not available but when I configure a working server, it freezes my device at startup, so I have to hardreset it
Clear voice, Good responsiveness. So WM6.0 VoIP is quite good

I am using a LAN setup . Server used in Ondo server. But then my SIP client does not get registered with the server. Is it possible to try making calls using direct IP without any servers involved ?

kk2202,
Are you using any firewall at the SIP Server's machine?
I think you need to open SIP port (UDP 5060) at the firewall or disable it.
I'm using Ondo server (aka Brekeke SIP Server) without any problem.

Hi, did you make a _setup.xml with your settings and manage to install it?
If not make sure your phone is application unlocked and then follow the instructions again.
I'm successful on WM 6.1 Standard
You might also check for the Prov0Settings file and attach your xml here for verification.
My NAT creates problems for my Sipura 2100 box, but my softphones including the WM6.1 client gets through it without problems. For this reason I don't think your issues are NAT related. You might see the searching state, however when the IP phone icon appears in the top bar you should be good to go.

I might also add that if you suspect NAT issues you could try Fring www.fring.com/cab it is really easy to setup. If that works then it's clearly a configuration issue.

Hi,
I have attached the _setup.xml for verification. 192.168.0.101 is the machine where the ondo SIP server is running.
What should i check in Prov0Settings in this file. It gets created when i install my .cab file.

Fring is not working on WM6
Hey guys,
Im new to the XDA developer site, recently i have upgraded my Imate Jas Jam from WM5(Telestra) to WM6(3 Network) using "HERM_DOPODASIA_WWE_3.54.707.3_6275_CustomRUU" I have downloaded fring from www.fring.com/cab
Installation is successful, but when i start Fring it simplay shows up the screen which says fring is loading then close application, tried too many times could'nt make this to work, any ideas...
your help is appreciated

Getting VoIP working for WM6 cooked ROMS

Hi, I'm looking at the various WM6 releases and I'm trying to understand how much functionality for VoIP exists in these ROMS, and what is required to get it working.
From the various reviews on WM6, when Internet Calling is correctly installed it seems to appear as an additional "Internet" tab under phone settings as well as being integrated with the WM6 dialer. I also belive that MS also provides additional hooks for developers (such as dialing third party dialer from Contexts with SIP dial strings).
Looking at the XDA Live version (screen shots only as I'm running a different ROM), it looks like it has the "Internet" tab under Phone Settings for Internet Calling, although people have indicated the functionality is not working. Is this a dialer integration issue then?
I have the LVSW ROM running on my Hermes (great ROM BTW ) and I don't even get the "Internet" tab.
So:
- Can anybody upload the standalone related components such as VoIP.cab, WM6 dialer (not just the skins) along with corresponding registry settings to switch to the correct dialer.
Update: Found the VoIP cab in FTP, was only recently added. still looking for additional info
- Is there any additional info/posts/sites/wiki that can shed more information on this?
At the moment I'm using a thirdparty SIP application that works well, but it has poor integeration with the OS. I've tried other SIP apps.
On the same thread, has anybody tried the dialer/SIP by BeWIP?
Update: Also saw this thread over on the Wizard forum

patience.... patience....
well, I think this thread might be a good thread to collect information on this topic.
I would also like to have Internet (SIP) calling from WM6
I currently use SjPhone and it is fine but it really has no integration with the OS.
So the greatest addition of WM6 voip calling feature would be integration.
However, it should be highly customizable (sip server selection, codec selection etc.)
Can we make this thread sticky ? I think Golfman has collected some important links under his post.
Have you guys tested Skype? I did and it worked quite all right.

Skype is Voip but not SIP. Some of us would love a nicely integrated SIP client.
I'm using Skype and X-Pro now, but i would prefer a real built-in SIP Client.
Perhaps it isn't that hard to get it running...
I also use Octrotalk. That's googletalk for WM5
It really works fine with voice.
But that's not SIP again.
We really miss an integrated sip client which can be customizable like SJphone.
Perhaps a sticky thread on this issue would help us but no one makes that.
Sleuth... you not sharing something you found?
I'm curious about something.
The one thing I don't like about Skype is because it doesn't allow me to use my bt headset. Now this VOIP that would be intergrated in wm6 does anyone know if it will let you use bt headset like with regular phone calls?
I mean is this basicly like Skype where you can make free phone calls? If you have unlimited data of course..
Just curious
Skype and misc VoIP...
I run X-Pro at the moment as my SIP client, I used SJPhone and had to do some tweaking to stop the voice jitter - XPro just seems to work better.
On WM6 and "Internet Calling", I've tried some of the xml settings but no dice at the moment - I've not enough time to really go through the M$ docs its a bit of a paper blizzard.
I'm personally not a fan of Skype for several reasons.
-READ THE SMALL PRINT OF THE EULA, ESPECIALLY REGARDING BEING MADE A SUPERNODE
- Its a closed protocol
- Only allows single session
I like SIP, however it does have some NAT issues
One thing that I was disappointed when I got my Hermes phone and I'm not sure if anybody can come up with a solution. Once the phone goes into standby, the Wi-Fi radio turns off to save power. Therefore unless a SIP call is coming in on a Cellular data-plan, the SIP client only works when you want to make a call - would be nice if the built in WM6 client had true radio integration, it might just not be possible unless you want a dead battery real fast.
I was hoping to be able to use my Cell Phone as a cordless in the house (connecting to my SIP server in the house). Dedicated SIP Wi-Fi phones are still way to expensieve.

TOMTOM GO and WM6 (DUN)

Microsoft are going to release WM6 with the ability to enable (DUN) for legacy devices, I.e. TOMTOM GO series... are there any cooks interested in releasing a ROM with this option enabled?
this would be great. if this was done i would have nothing to complain about with wm6
Same here, it's just the final thing I need for a perfect WM6 ROM.
One vote more
Same, here. I also tried to use DUN on WM6 with TomTom Go. But apparently WM6 lacks DUN support in Bluetooth Stack.
Does anyone have a fix for this or is there any good WM6 Rom out there with Bluetooth DUN support?
Yes-Sir-Eee
I would love to see that, my 910 won't use the services without DUN...
I was browsing earlier and I think I saw a .cab file in the Wizard forums for PAN support in Windows Mobile 6, however I don't think that anyone said that it worked.
Really?
Point me in the right direction & I'll happily give it a whizz...
Cheers,

I downloaded the CAB from here, and installed on my Wizard. It says it installed but does not work.
Here's some more info:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307235&page=2
I can confirm this fix
Used trinity files posted by MuN on the above thread.
heres what i did
Installed cab - soft reset
pasted all files from zip in windows folder - soft reset
then unpaired tomtom 910 and reparied, hey presto it found DUN support
Perfect, have been waiting for a fix for this
I've run the .cab and copied the files into the Windows directory, however I'm having a real headache trying to configure a data connection.
Which device to choose for TomTom GO 910?
@the.drone
I followed your instructions and now my TomTom reports that my phone has DUN capability. Problem is HTC TyTN or HTC Hermes ist not listed as phone in the phone list and automatic configuration does not work.
Can you please give instructions which phone to use or how to configure the data connection manually? Because DUN support which can't be configured is as good as no DUN support.
Thanks a lot.
Marc
it just worked first time automaticaly with mine, maybe i was just a fluke but it found the data coonection first time on 3g
How can I find out my TomTom thinks my phone has DUN?
Edit: when I try to add my TomTom to my Hermes, it only brings up a handsfree tick box, when in Windows Mobile 5 I think it also brought up two additional tick boxes. Any ideas if this is following the path to success of if I've screwed up?
Double post.
DUN Doin' it
Will be giving it a go first thing in the morning.
Cheers for the update, will post results....
Bargain!
You eff-ing ROCK... DUN on WM6.
My TomTom 910 loves you!!
Hoo-haa!
How did you get it to work?
So can someone share how they did it?
I followed the instructions and it now finds my ttg 300, and says it has the services - but can't set up the actual DUN connection either manually or automatically!
Any ideas?
Matt
I really am sorry to be a pain in the butt, but I'll outline what I've done.
1). Paired my Hermes up with my TomTom 910.
2). Run the .cab.
3). Soft reset.
4). Copied the files into the Windows directory of my Hermes via the storage card.
5). Soft reset.
6). Repaired my Hermes and TomTom 910 after having deleted the previous connection. At this point it says "The following features were found: Hands-free calling, Wireless data connection, Phonebook".
At this point I try and setup a data connection that it hits the fan. It's really annoying because it feels like I'm falling at the final hurdle. I also wondered if I was struggling because of an issue with connecting to the T-Mobile network, however am I right in thinking that mccreath's using a T-Mobile GPRS contract SIM connection?

OpenVPN on the s620 running WM6 - Please help

Hi!
I was wondering whether anyone has got OpenVPN running properly on the s620 running WM6.
I can get the program installed, start it using a short cut, submit a password using telnet and establish a connection, but no data flows through. I have tried many registry settings etc, but nothing has worked for me so far.
Any feedback or help would be appreciated
p.s. I'm hoping to develop a proper smartphone client GUI, but need to get it working first.

Problems with SIP-Client and WM6

Hello,
I've got a Tytn Smartphone. Yesterday I installed a sip-client which is discriped here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317072
I set up the settings of the Internetphone that it should be only active when there is no mobile service available.
Unfortunately I've got noe a problem: When someone calls me and the smartphone is in standby the mobile switches on but there is no sign of a incomming call. Even when the caller finish calling there is no sign of a missed call.
I've tried it with every mode but it only works normally (but not in every case) when my WLAN is off and there is no chance to connect to my SIP server.
I only want to use the sip-client for incomming calls so it has to be online in case someone is calling. Another question: Is WLAN online even when the device is in standby? I've set it up like that but when I switch the device on the sign of "getting WLAN connected" appears.
I would be very happy for fast help because I miss a lot of calls and don't even notice that!
meinereiner
PS Is it normal that set up a call is getting very slow when the SIP client ist conneted?
Hmm
what WM6 are you using? Is it the official ROM? There is always an option of a cooked ROM, and I noticed I am able to do it with this instruction fine. Slow on start up but when running it is OK. Hope this helps.
Hi,
thanks for your replay.
I've sing an offical WM6 of my phone provider (CE OS 5.2.1238 Build 17745.0.2.3). Unfortunately I don't know which information you like to know.
I've deinstalled my software and installed the software you suggested. Unfortunately this software doen't connect to my SIP server, so I can't use it.
Are there other software modules I could test?
I thought this is a software module of microsoft which is hidden on the tytn devices?

WM6.1 SIP but my GPS does not workany more

I have enabled the SIP client (BTW it works but very limited) following the instructions in general threats.
After reboot and some tests, I've realised that the GPS dosn't work any more.
Basically it is not detected by any SW (TTN, Google, AutoGPS, ..)
Any suggestion?
I JUST went throught the same thing 2 days ago - I had MS native VOIP working on my 6700 and didnt notice a problem obviously, as it has no GPS.
Here's whatcha gotta do:
You wont be able to remove the Sleuth's VOIP program - it will always fail. You need to open the cab on your desktop, extract and examine the setup xml and manually remove the files from the windows dir on your device and reg entries contained therein.
Or hard reset... whichever is easier for you.
The problem file is dnsapi.dll, but you wont get GPS back until you regedit and remove the files.
THEN, you can have your cake and eat it too, by installing THESE files.
Use SIP config to setup your provider.
Use Dontsleep Wifi to prevent the phone from auto sleeping during voip calls.
Use AutoAudioRoute/AudioRoute to push the audio to the earpiece instead of the speakerphone/Headphones, as is the case with all VOIP clients in WM6.
Hope this helps!
