how do i access the back up battery on this phone? it says it one in start/settings/ battery
You have to open it up. It's soldered onto a tab on the PCB. You'll have to desolder it to change it.

I want to mention this first: The, USB-connector is FINE. There is nothing wrong with it. I have cleaned it, USB fits tight and wiggling the plug does nothing. The contacts on the connector and the cable looks fine, not bent or anything. I have taken the phone apart and I checked the connector and nearby components with multimeter, it pushes 5V to the components near the connector, without the battery connected.
The problem is that when I insert the USB-cable to the phone, the battery goes to 0% and the phone shuts down. Then the phone shows an image of a battery + exclamation mark in yellow triangle. If I turn the phone on and insert the USB-cable on the GIO-screen, it will not shut down until I remove the cable or reinsert it (it depends). At that stage the USB-connection is fully working, removable drive, tethering, adb, etc. It will not charge though.
I checked the voltage on the battery connecor, it was under 2V. On my Galaxy Y and my sisters Galaxy Trend, it was around 4-5V. This could mean, that this is an hardware issue? Is there anywhere a diagram of the circuit, so I know what to check? Basically on the front side, everything I checked near the USB-connector was around 4-5V, but on the back side, it was under 2V.
The warranty has been expired about an year ago, so I cannot send it to warranty repair.
EDIT: I solved it! But I did not manage to locate the problem though. It was an hardware issue, for sure. I put the phone in oven for 5 minutes to reflow everything. Apparently there was a cracked solder joint somewhere.
Do you have a few Vibrant,Captivate,Mesmerize Batteries? Do u need a back up battery? Vibrant,Captivate,Mesmerize Batteries will power on the Galaxy S2. The phone will charge the GalaxyS T959 batteries with the phone turned off, not on. To make the batteries work all you need is a cigarette butt(clean one if u can). put the cigarette butt in the bottom of the battery slot, then take the battery. Put the battery bottom in first, that will be the side with out the directional triangle. You will compress the cigarette butt with the battery and push down the top of the battery gently down. Dont go all crazy and slam it in and mess up the pins.
To remove battery , just pulll out the cigarette butt and remove battery
At this point, many of you will ask questions like... well the galaxy S2 T989 has 4 pins and the Vibrant,Captivate,Mesmerize are 3 pin.
this does not matter, this will still work. regardless of the charging pin count

Hi, my phone has some serious issues, inlcuding not charging and battery draining fast. I have not been able to backup files since this started to happen, as the phone would normally just turn off saying the battery was dead. I tried replacing the battery and the usb charge port, to not much success. The power button has been broken since a drop about 4 months ago.
I'm looking at putting my good motherboard into a phone that is still completely functional.
My question is, if I put the motherboard of my phone[dead battery] into another htc one m8 [siblings old m8], would all my pictures, documents, and files be there on the new phone? As far as I know the motherboard is the entire phone, right?
Thanks for your help.
As long as you don't damage the board when you are transferring it between phones. Or you don't damage the working phone while transferring the board then you should be able to get your data back. Thing is you claim that you have a dead battery which would mean that you would have to take the battery from your siblings phone and use it with your phone to make sure it will boot. Check on how to replace the battery.

so when you put battery in, there are 4 copper connectors and one of them got bent when I tok battery out once to where the bottom part bent up...so I am not sure if it goes all the way to where it is supposed to when battery goes in. When I turn on phone, nothing on screen appears but the rest of phone goes through the normal start up sequence...blue light flashing, the phone buttons light up as they do when start up finishes, etc.
So I am basically wondering if the bent connector could cause that
I have an HTC Incredible 2, Verizon, Model 6350. The charging port is very loose, and I thought the battery wasn't charging. The phone reports it as in the red and will not stay powered on. I removed the battery. There are four contacts on it with the outer most pins marked + and -. I measured the voltage across them and it reads 3.771, which I believe is fully charged. I understand the phone is very old, and I am replacing it, but I need to export the contact and calendar data. Is it stored on the SIMM card, and if so, is there a way to extract it short of buying another phone and installing the card in it? Is there any way to get around this battery management software?
Thanks
