[WIP] Touch: The Beginning LE ROM - Touch CDMA Windows Mobile ROM Development

Here is a preview for my first ROM. My keyboard is currently broken, so I'll give some more info when I get a new one.
The basics planned:
Plan for both a lite and full edition, currently working on the LE.
GPS & Rev-A, so 3.35+ Radio will be needed.
Page Pool set at 12MB, may be changed though.
I have Verizon, so that will be the first release.
LE will include a few basic commonly used apps, fully tweaked.
Still deciding on what to use for full edition, SE.
I hope to complete within a week, stay tuned!
Small preview (2nd image doesn't really look that bad):

Reserved 1: LE

Reserved 2: SE

How's it going
So how is your first ROM coming along?
Coldheat1906

There is a lot involved, that's for damn sure! But, turning into a small hobby.

Any Interest

Hi guys, just thought I'd see if there is any interest in a clean rom build of the latest version. Looks like I'll be getting my 8525 back so I'll be able to play again. Probably on par with my usual - as fast as I can get it without any fluff.
If there is, please let me know if there are any preferred build numbers and if big storage is still preferred over having the extended rom accessable.
I'll be surfing to try and get caught up on changes and digging through the archives for stuff, but if you have any special requests, please let me know.
hi matt,
good to see you back.
i had to switch to dvha79_ddt's 20226 build. but as i am a true fan of your clean rom, i will be definitely switching back to your rom.
preference:
- super-storage
- build number is not so important. i prefer stability and performance over build numbers.
- please keep in mind to include the "in call bugfix".
- could you also please provide a kaiser-style 2G dialer, built-in or as a cab. it does not matter. just in case that your other kaiserstyle dialer would not work as with your other naked roms.
looking forward to your new rom
Hi matt - I was always a fan of your clean roms mate and would certainly like to see you get back into creating.
Because of all the other with 6.1 roms I've not been regularly updating for some time, settling on a CRC rom. For that reason I can't recommend anythying with build numbers or drivers, etc. but I actually do use the extended ROMs on my BA, Hermes and Universal and so Big Storage roms ain't my personal pref tbh. Having oems in Windows instead of cabs in ext rom negates any BS benefits for me. (On your BS roms I just made a 3.5mb mega-cab of about 13 or 14 megs or so of stuff in and just left in Windows instead of using oems.
I actually used my own Pandora 6.0 mix for ages, going back to it after every 6.1 install.

pleas make your magic on the latest Build 20270.1.3.1 (big storage)
really liked you PN9b1 , hope to see your new work

I've been looking for the leanest and cleanest myself, so I'm in.
hmm
20270 builds seem buggy some programs won't run on them, one can't select multiple messages through the touch screen etc etc. I find CRC's 19588 is good, and stable. 19900 was good too, ... so not entirely sure I just want basic programs like Yahoo! Go to run on any of the builds after 19588 It is a small thing but it's important for me
WB matt!! Sure would love to play with your kitchen again! been missing that for a while now!
Naked and home grown in the USA
Cook one up great naked chef, one from the USA!!! Like the olden days!!
Please Please Please
Matt can we PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEE have one of your famous clean ROM's? This is what I have been searching for so I can run my programs on an 8MB PP for some speed and stability.
hi there mattk_r
simple request, please please please make a stupendously stable and fast rom using ANY of the wm6.1 builds
ultimately, 'which' build wouldnt matter if you made the final one really stable and fast as the feature sets are pretty much the same, you dont always have to have the absolute latest build!
and of course if you could offer a bigstorage and a nonbigstorage option and of course make them UC compatible
looking forward to this, your name rings a bell though, were you over on the wizard forums too?

Yup - been a while
Hi Matt!
like in the past...a lean, mean, & clean wm6.1 with a tilt build.
Great to see you back Matt. I had used all your versions up to 9 til you left us. I have since been using PDACorners ROM's, now V.17 and they have been the best since you left. V.17 is using build 20270 and it is the cleanest and most stable ROM right now for me. Can't wait to see you work your "Clean" magic.
Happy to do so.
Is there a good "virgin" ROM dump around? Without the manifest files (dsm) files, PKGTOOL won't build the packages properly from a compiled NB image.
Not trying to be lazy, but the two compiled ones I've tried with 20270 are this way.

Well 20270 doesn't allow selecting multiple messages to be deleted through the screen, must be some bug in the tmail.exe somewhere, too lazy to look, and not smart enough to fix it. 19588 seems OK so far. Doesn't corrupt my yahoo! go cab upon installation and allows me to select multiple msgs off the screen to 'delete' or 'mark as read' my 2c

Hi there
The fastest rom so far with no issues that I could find is the 19214 rom. I got the PDAVIET one. Compare it to any other build out there and it rocks! Cheers.
Sounds good to me!

Extra vote here for the same request but I'm not sure if it can be done because I remember somewhere in the forum, someone mentioned that the PV roms cannot be dumped. Would be nice to have one that is stable and only the OS (Super Clean) so it will be fully customizable by the user.

New Phone - best ROM

Alright everyone. Finally upgraded my phone from a hermes to a diamond. I knew basically everything about the hermes, and now I'm back to square one (almost) with the Diamond.
I've had a read through the Wiki and the forms, but I'd like to know which ROM's/radio versions out there are best for the Diamond.
Extinguishers at the ready! a popular question indeed. I use Dutty's it rocks.
I use Bepe's ROM, 1st because they are really stable, 2nd because I can manage my own language

Anything based on the 1.93 roms are good. I used one of the stock roms on mine.
Generally it is considered that the .05 radio is the best, but I found the .11 gave me slightly better 3G coverage. I think there might be a .16 on the way but I dont know when that will be released.
I'm just using the latest official ROM (1.93). For once I find the official Diaond ROMS quite stable and usable. I've flashed a few ROMS such as Diamond project and Elite and find more annoyances on these ROMs than the original: things like modded splash screens I don't like and web links opening with I.E. instead of Opera.
I recommend just using the latest generic HTC ROM for now, unless you have particular cause to change, though to be fair you could just try all of them and see which you like best!
It's all good fun.
OK thread cleaned up. Stay on topic please people.
@ Reb0rn - lose the attitude, if you dont like the thread, dont post in it ....simple.
I use the TLR 3 ROM, it runs on 1.93.xxx.2 and i like it coz it keeps most of the stock features/look but with upgrades and tweaks to make it faster + its very stable - It is also one of the very few (if only) ROM's that includes the AppToDate application which allows you to update the phone over the air and hence means you don't have to flash the phone too often to get the latest stuff.
The .05 radio is the best and also makes the phone quad band... (you may also want to check out the Gsensor apps page on the 'diamond' part of the forum some cool stuff their.)

what are the major differences between the cupcake roms?

I'm actually running the JF version but i wanted to know what the main differences were between the 3
JesusFreke's ADP1.5 Cupcake Build ROM v1.50
•
Haykuro's ADP1.5H Cupcake Build ROM
•
TheDudeOfLife's ADP1.5 Cupcake Build ROM v0.93
•
OH and sorry if this is a re-post but I'm on here everyday and i haven't seen the question be asked.
JesusFreke's ADP1.5 Cupcake Build ROM v1.50 is the best in my opinion.
PLEASE to edit your post and ask your question differently.
If you want to know people's opinion on which is best... Then this thread will be LOCKED and quick! That promotes nothing but bickering and unsubstantiated/subjective opinion (like a$$holes - everyone has one) and diminishes the work of the developers who have brought us the early ROMS.
If you want to know what features are on the different ROMS to make it easier for you to decide which would be a better fit... Maybe, the thread won't be locked.
Don't EVER ask about who thinks what is better! All three major ROMS have different features that make them unique. The best way... Try all three of them!
In a nutshell:
Market works in all three; Apps2sd works in all three; I think the graphics are better in all three (my opinion); they run smoother/faster; VK (all options/versions) is awesome.
JF - more like original Cupcake with a few tweaks (I haven't tried it yet so don't know the keyboard options)
Dude - Some eye candy, three VK's avail (original Google; Chinese/English input (HTC), English (HTC), no exchange support.
Haykuro - more eye candy, closer to HTC version of the device, no Google VK (uses the HTC Chinese/English input VK), support for exchange.
Speed of each depends on who you speak with - it's all about perception and they are all most likely about equal. They are all quality builds at this point with few bugs. It is just a preference thing.
Try them all out! If you put your apps on your SD and use Nandroid or My Backup Pro you can switch to any of the three and not lose any data/settings.
thank you for your input guys. and i truly am sorry about my wording in the title and i didnt mean to say that one might be better than the other . i was really just wondering the differences between the 3 and i appreciate your input shaneaus.

[REQ] Give us some cool mods/ports for STOCK Manila please

Guys
Posted this a couple of times over the last month with no responses, but I will not be flashing a new ROM to my device for a number of reasons. However all I see now is developments for "new" Roms which aren't really Touch HD roms at all. (Rhodium/Diamond 2 ports etc..)
I'm no developer and rely on the good grace of some of the talented folks on here to get some tips and tweaks for my phone....my Artemis was no different.
Is there any chance that any of the newly developed apps, TF3D tweaks et al can be used on the "old" or as I prefer to call it Stock manila (TF3D).
Here my plea!
Thanks & kutgw
**bump bump **
I would like to see this also.
Me too, as all this Manilla V3, Duppys, Dannys, Randys ROMS's comfuse me !
Hello friends..I think as soon not flash our machines, we will not be anything
The state has changed. In the beginning there was not new programs to new manila and now there is not for old manila..
Renewed or die!
I too would like to see more for stock rom. looked at flashing out a new rom but instructions are all written as if you bet already know about roms! they are not true step by step instructions and there is too much at risk. before anyone starts slatinG me I have been had a dislike new HTC device every year since the e100 so do know a little about them.
I didn't know how to flash a ROM before I did a little reading and educated myself. It's not a black art and is not difficult. There is a wealth of information about flashing ROMs easily and painlessly here in these hallowed pages.
With the release of HSPL 1.54, it's now just as easy to flash one of the newer HD ROMs too. The more recent ROMs are stable and fast and have loads of worthwhile features over the stock items.

That might well be true but there are various reasons why one would not wish to flash a non-stock ROM to the deivce. It could be for business use, it could unvalidate the warranty...and many more.
For me personally, I was willing to brick my Artemis but I'm not willing to even worry about bricking my Blackstone due to the cost of the product.
I just wish there was more development for stock is all.
Oh come on, flashing is half the fun of the HD .
I tend to disagree with this thread. 99% of all newly developed apps work (sometimes even better) on stock ROMS. They are programmed for WM5, 6, 6.1 etc. and not specificly for topaz, manilla or whatever, which is basicly still a Today plugin.
Themes and manila tweaks are indeed a different story, but the OP writes about apps aswell, and they are just a small portion of what is currently out there for out HD.

You are indeed right in that there are a number of apps that work with 6.x devices regardless of the rom. However my post also serves as a warning that as more and more areas of non-stock roms are being explored, more asnd more apps are surfacing that are developed purely for WM6.5 let alone WM6.1 cooked ROMS - this is my continuing worry. Whilst it's good to be on the cutting edge...there is little need for many people to be on the cutting edge...and if the current dev trend continues...we'll be left in the cold.
This is a "Themes, Applications and Software" Blackstone section. Why there isn´t a "Development and Hacking" Blackstone section? In other words, Stock roms software section and Cooked roms software section...
Thats a Good Idea

Rom Recommendation - EnergyROM Series

Can anyone recommend a ROM similar to the "EnergyROM Series 3.0 21215 - Manila Edition" for the Rapheal?
My friend has this ROM and its amazing but i don’t think its compatible with my Diamond.
Suggestions please!
Thanks
My only suggestion is to ask NRGZ28 to cook up a Rom for the Diamond. He had thought about it at one time I am running his right now on my Raphael and it is very Fast and stable.
I would like to have this also..
I've tested this at work some day, previous version of Energy ROM, already with TF3D2 included which was pretty sweet running and probably the 3rd version is even better.
Who contacts him?
I too have had my eye on this rom in the raphael section and think it would make a gr8 diamond rom

Hi there Sam_C.
I don' know the Energy ROM you mentioned but from what I read from the thread I think you would like to try ShaksP 4.20 ROM. It has many of the Goodies in the Topaz ROM (new keyboards and menus, etc.), is very fast and ROCK SOLID.
I tried MANY, MANY ROMs for the Diamond and this one I recommend without reserve.

Shaks ROM is stable but if you try energy rom on rapcheal then only you know what is fast. Anyway cause to our limited RAM Shaks already put our Diamond to it's limit. Thanks Shaks
Well I guess it's a good thing I saw this thread eh ? I will try making a ROM for the diamond today, but I need someone to beta test to see if it boots properly, since I don't have a Diamond (!). If anybody's interested please send me a PM. I only need a couple people that have time on their hands to download, flash, test.... maybe a few times until we get it right Thanks
Testing Energy for the Diamond
I am happy to test your rom. I had the fuze and then went to the diamond i was not a fan of the keyboard. Your roms kick ass! All of the present ones for the diamond are great but they use too many resources or the light ones come with jack. So I will be happy to test. Send me a message and i will take care of this happily.
Shokouhi
If it is WM6.5, I will be the first to test it- well hopefully. Lol, it's hard to get off 6.5 once you're on it.
Thanks NRGZ.

I'll join in for beta testing. I've tryed many different 6.5 ROMs so far and can't say I'm happy with any one, performance wise.
Well here's a preliminary "test version" of the ROM. I'm not sure if it'll even boot, since I don't have a device to test on. However, the worst that can happen is it won't boot and then you have to flash back whatever other ROM you want. Please download, test... and get back to me somehow. PM would be best Oh... and if you don't know what do with the file, you probably shouldn't be testing this

Hi.
Can you please archive your ROM in RAR ?
Coz I can't download at my workplace, just to open.
THX.
Count me in 2 lol
I am downloading and i will let you know asap!!!
Quick update: this is safe to flash - it boots fine. Had it on for 2 minutes, I can't say much more at the moment.
i will test it also thanks
I've been testing this rom for the last half hour and have to say, quite impressive for a test rom.
A few problems though. There seems to be a lot less storage memory available and a lot less ram than any other rom.
I'm also really missing a task manager, and there's a few touch pro apps we dont need. There also only seems to be one keyboard to choose from.
On the plus side, activesync, wifi, notifications, camera and all the apps work flawlessly.I've added titanium weather without a hitch.
So thanks for all your hard work and hope you continue to work on this rom.
First let me do a disclamer: if i don't mention it - it either works or i didn't test it yet. I'd like to concentrate on things that don't work. I was too impatient to do customary hard reset after initial flash so ....
Impressions: it's true, if you never tryed NRGZ28's ROM you don't know what "fast" means. This ROM is blazing!!!
- during initial setup and just after screen alingment, iwas expecting to set time zone and time - never showed up
- World card mobile does not work; it would not even start
- Some shortcuts placments was "questionable": Advanced Network Settings appear under System control applet; others were likely just me not being familliar with NRGZ28's ROMS
- Personal preferance: I prefer MSVC over CVSD
- Only default WM keyboard works; would like to see TD2 or D2 SIP here
More after hard reset...
