I own both a Treo 750 and an HTC Kaiser. I'm really interested in extracting some of the features from the Treo to add to the HTC - especially the contact lookup plugin for the Today screen. I've seen that this has been done before, but the ripped files were taken down for legal reasons.
I'm having trouble figuring out how to get started doing this for myself. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

Can we have a forum to discuss the new treos out this week?
S
putz.
treonauts or shadowmite if you want to discuss treos.
Well wasn't that nice to respond to a simple request, like many people have done with new models by name-calling. very mature, indeed.
@ twaddle
I have found that mytreo.net, pdaphonehome.com, and treocentral.com all have active discussions too
an apology
You're absolutely right. I was being childish because I was in a bad mood. It was uncalled for and I apologize.
Treo 750v is manufactured by HTC, so it would make sense to make a sub-forum.
and there I was thinking this was primarily a well-respected windows mobile community - my bad...
Why not start on wiki, its a free for all site, add the useful info there.
I think with the threaded sms that only the treo 750v has, we'll see a lot of action on the treo. it's own subforum would be nice. but if not we'll still see it somewhere here on xda

Sess apologized for an indiscretion, I think that is pretty respectable
treo forum --> S620?
Hi guys,
I'm still not sure whether the treo is made by HTC since the pictures I found arent exactly the same.
But anyhow, we added a HTC s620 forum to the smartphones section.
Greetz,
Flar
No, the excalibur isn't the treo, the treo is a custom design/build for palm.
I would appreciate a sub-forum as well (for Treo 700w, wx and 750v).
I've already documented 2 hacks that are useful for WM5 Treo's and extracting the custom Palm apps is a priority for some.
treo subforums
As you probably know we're an HTC-phones forum.
This means that at this point we won't add Treo subforums to the site.
Best Regards,
Flar

Guess it doesn't count that HTC manufactures the Treo line? I mean that's pretty close...

Hey, in that case, O2 ATOM shouldn't be in this forum. It is produced by Quantan, not HTC. I think Treo 750v should be in - since it is a HTC product.
The Atom (non specifically wich) is produced by HTC.
If anyone can get us a treo rom we can check whether the treo is HTC made or not.
Greetz,
Flar
Hi,
XDA Atom is indeed designed and produced by Quanta, not HTC.
Palm 750v is windows mobile PDA Phone, designed and built by HTC. Code name: CHEE100
indeed.
So, can we have the forum?
I think the Administrators here will find that the ROM of the 750v contains a lot of PALM added goodies they will be VERY interested in. Namely Threaded Text Messaging. It is a brilliant feature and I think these two communities (Treo WM users and XDA Developers) should not be thought of seperate.
HTC does manufactuer the Treo WM series (as well as the Palm OS series).
Treo's have evolved...

I think he's right - there could be some kind of "symbiosis", that might help us all...
Stunned silence.
I just bought the Nokia E61 on ebay (x01nk here in Japan) and smugly slipped in my Softbank sim-card. As promised, it worked a treat but AGONY, I can't use "@softbank.ne.jp" email!?! It serves me right for not checking these things out; I just assumed if the card works, then so does the email.
This is more than annoying, it's a step BACKWARDS from the mickey-mouse mobile I had before! no push email is a painful blow.
There are threads about getting MMS working on the HTC and the like, but as far as I'm aware, there doesn't seem to be an E61 solution.
So, I'm stuck with a classy piece of hardware that can't even email friends without paying for pop/imap charges. Gutted, doesn't even come close - too embarresed to tell anyone. I just want to sit in a dark corner for while - close the door behind you.
Doesn't anyone know how to sort this problem out? I've seen the MMS settings that have been posted on the web, but none of them seem work..
Come on guys, I'm struggling here!
I really want to buy one of these but SB will not sell to my company...have to make min of 50 orders...what is the point with these guys..
Anyway so does this mean if I purchase one OS then there is no sms, mms??
how about SB to SB phones where the number is only used not a proper mail address (@softbank.ne.jp)?? ANy other features that dont work???
Thanks
Unlock Security Code Nokia E61
Hi All,
Sorry if this question might similar with many previous ones posted in this forum.
I just joined with this forum after a colleague recommended me to seek help for my problem.
I still own an old silver Nokia E61 - which some friends teased me by call it a calculator
I'm totally forgot the security code which come up when we restart the phone.
Some websites provide the solution but I felt hesitate since they ask for the IMEI number - which I believe we shouldn't inform it to anyone.
Would be really appreciate if anyone can help with this common issue or point me to old thread which has the information.
Thanks in advance!
I an a tech junkie, computer geek through and through, but I feel like a complete n00b when I come on here. If you can help, I have a few questions that I think you can answer, or at least point me in the right direction.
First, I haven't dealt with WM since...I think 5.0 that I had on my HTC 8125 back in 2006 so please cut me some slack. I am going to buy a new phone but ATT has sh*t for good smart phones and unlocked HTC phones are expensive so I'll probably go with a chinese smartphone. I have 2 lined up, the first is a clone of the Touch Cruise called HTY T4242+ and the second is the HTC P3470 clone called Flagship P660+. Can you give me a hint which is better? I get the specs but I'm wondering if anyone has actually dealt with actual hardware of these 2 clones before.
And second, I'm looking to upgrade one of the phones to 6.5 but I have no idea how, is there any step by step tut out there that could help me or could someone throw one together? I have a Zune HD, and the Zune 4.0 software that runs on it is basically a simplified version of the main screen of 6.5 and I love it, but looking forward to Manila.
I may not be a guru, but I will say this: It's extremely unlikely that a chinese clone will get an official upgrade to 6.5, and being that there is probably not a huge enthusiast community for either of those, I'd say that an unoffical upgrade is out of the question. Not to mention that the methods detailed on this forum are only valid for HTC manufactured devices. I'd say that if you want a phone with 6.5, you'll have to at least purchase a clone that comes with 6.5, or buy a device with a large community of developers.
On another note, I'm on AT&T, and I really like the AT&T Tilt2. It comes with 6.5, and has tons of cooked ROMs and support here at XDA-Developers. Also, rumor has it that the high spec Sony XPERIA X10, running android, will make it to AT&T sometime next year. Hope that helps
Helped some, thanks. One comes with 6.5 and that sounds good right now. Do you know of any clone that has a good dev following? I can't afford a 400 dollar unlocked phone, ATT has a bogus concept that you have to buy the data plan to even get a smart phone.
I do hope they get an Android phone though, I hope someone comes up with a way to replace Windows Mobile with Android to it's very roots, not just an app but to be able to swap OSes through replacing files on actual hardware.
Hi guys,
Im a (web) designer by trade and just got a HD2 and am astounded how nasty some of the apps look on WinMo so I thought if anyone wants a UI creating (layout & icons/sprites/tiles only) then get intouch as im willing to help for free...
let me know you're ideas and lets create some iphone beating stylish goodness.
I felt the same way as a web designer myself who just got an HD2.
Do you have a portfolio?
yeah its www.neue.co.uk but its in bits and desperately in need of updating...
i cant believe theres no takers for some design assistance?
I'll be happy for some help creating Icon for a small utility I'm writing now.
Hello, I recently purchased a Kin TwoM from Verizon. After about two weeks of owning the phone I became very curious of how to add/delete, and change stuff on the phone. After quickly realizing that this is either impossible or extremely hard, I decided to investigate like I'm sure most of you did. I'm very familiar with hacking and developing. I stumbled across this forum today while investigating for stuff i didn't know. So as a noob, I was hoping there would be some kind members willing to give some information, on whats been so far released and discovered. I've found a couple things that appear to be already known (like the key combos to downgrade/ secret menu) but so far that's about all I know about this phone. So is anyone willing to fill me in?
Thanks..
Hi Aaron,
Take no offense at this, but all the information you are looking for is already in the other posts in this forum subcategory. Please be willing to take the time to read all the posts in this KIN Two Software Development section, as there are only a few pages of them. You'll find the button combinations and details and findings on the secret menu.
Also, JohnKussack put a lot of work into developing a cross-platform file manager for the Kin, called KinO. It works pretty well and even lets you back up and restore your contacts, with limitations.
Aside from these, that's about as far as anyone has gotten. I know for myself, I've spent a lot of time trying to gain access to the file system, but Microsoft finally outdid itself on securing a device from any hacks or exploits. The irony is that I happen to own it and want that access.
