Hi,
I used to have an old iPAQ back in the day and there used to be VGA cables to connect to a monitor (or more often a projector).
Does anyone know of such an adapter for the htc range of phones?
(I want to run an old monitor using this phone to display photos)

Hi,
I am looking for cable that I could use to connect my JasJar PDA (USB mini port) with GPS (USB mini port) and car lighter. This cable should transmit data between PDA and GPS. Also it should power PDA and GPS from car lighter socket. Look at attached picture for better explanation.
Do you know where I could buy it?
Best regards

Cześć!
Myśle, że nawet jeśli masz taki kabel, to będziesz mieć problem. And there my Polish runs out!
(trans: Even if you had such a cable, you'd still have a problem).
Or at least I would assume so... Even if you made a mini usb to mini usb cable with power spliced in from a car adapter (easy enough to do after all) then you would still have the problem of persuading your pda to use the usb connection for rx/tx gps data, which I would have thought was a drivers problem...
Anyone?
Hi,
As I read on some forum this device can work as USB host and WM 5.0 has many drivers also for GPS devices. Is that true? If it is, problem how JasJar will communicate with GPS is not a problem. The problem for me is that I cannot make that cable myself and I need sombody help.
Best regards
Marek S
Sadly, this device cannot act as a USB host... I am frankly disappointed that they decided not to implement it, but I guess there always has to be a reason to upgrade to the next model!
I'm afraid I don't know about WM05's support for GPS devices connected via USB, although I think I have read in other threads that people have tried without success to connect GPS receivers to their Universals.
I bought a BT gps receiver to use with mine, and am hoping to cover the cost of that when I sell my IIs, wired gps receiver, cradle etc. One thing that attracted me to the Holux that I bought is that it can apparently be used as a gps mouse if you buy the optional cable - a usb to usb mini that has a curious small plastic junction box halfway along it's length. I assume that there is some form of jiggery pokery going on in there (like swapping the 2 data lines or grounding something ) because I certainly can't connect my receiver to a laptop with a normal usb to usb mini cable.
Sorry I can't help more, but I think you may be stuck unless you can find someone locally who'll chop up some cheap cables for you to experiment with... :?
I am wondering whether if you got a Minu USB to USB B, plugged it into a cheap powered/unpowered hub, the to the GPS would it work?
If it is a cheap hub, when powered, it may have the 5V rails joined, in which case the power might run back to the universal.
However, before testing this, it would be wise to test that the USB can work with teh GPS on its own. If you do not have a mini USB A to mini USB A already and tested (I couldn't see such cables) then www.maplin.co.uk could supply you with the following, which would/should provide you with a connection if it is at all possible:
mini USB A to USB A (Standard with universal surely?)
Female USB A to USB B
Female USB B Female USB A
USB A to mini USB A (Standard with universal)
That is a lot of cables
This cable should transmit data between PDA and GPS.
WHy on earth would you want that?

Once you can prove that the PDA can connect to the GPS that way (one of the posters was not particularly positive on that) then the addition of the HUB would allow you to put the power onto the cable.

Hi Marek,
This is not going to work for DATA but this kind of cable may work to charge both JasJar and BT gps. Log in to www.allegro.pl , find covox in "szukaj użytkownika" go and buy the BT gps with the mini usb port (like G-Space GS-R238) and solder in second usb mini cable into the included car charger .
thats all...
This should charge both....ordered one and am waiting for it, doubt it'll sync though.....

Hi,
does anyone know an adapter to change the HDMI signal from my MHL-adapter to VGA?
I need it because of the data projectors at my university.
I have already tried with 2 adapters: HDMI-> DVI and DVI-> VGA
but it didn't work.
Thx for your help
Just wait for something like that : http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/bizlink-mhl-to-vga-tv-out-adapter-black-p29960.htm
Or buy this type of cable, that could be better than buying a new adapter :http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/soonitrade/VGA_HD-15_Male_Cable_(1).jpg

HDMI has no analogue component so it can't be passively converted to analogue (VGA.) Similarly, VGA-HDMI cables are designed for devices that can output HDMI-over-VGA, and won't work either. You need an active adapter for that.

I haven't tried this yet. Anyone know if this HP device works?
Given that the I9100 allows keyboard, mouse and hdmi output, it would be great to rig it up to perform as a little netbook. So, one would require
a battery-powered LCD with HDMI input,
a seperate power supply (battery with micro USB output) for the HDMI adaptor (seems like that is necessary)
bluetooth keyboard and mouse/trackball/touchpad (since it seems you can't connect both USB and HDMI at the same time),
and possibly a ROM that would take advantage of such a setup.
[EDIT: scouring amazon reveals portable LCDs with HDMI input and many external phone chargers.]
So my question is, what is the feasibility of such a setup, given the necessary hardware? does the necessary hardware exist? has anyone done such a thing already (quick search on google revealed nothing)?
I don't think it would be feasible to do it. You'd need an MHL adapter which people say drains battery even when it's plugged into a socket, and an OTG cable and afaik you can't use both at once. Bluetooth mouse/keyboards would further reduce the battery life.
Not to mention with all of this you'd need a fan of some sort to keep everything cool.
Just buy an ipad or one of the countless droid pads and a nice bluetooth keyboard.. you probably don't want to carry a screen larger than 10 inch with you.

This came today on engadget. Truthfully, I could do without all the fancy projection stuff, I'd much prefer a psion 5 size keyboard dock.

After playing MAME on my tv with the MHL cable for an hour and using a PS3 sixaxis controller over bluetooth, I loose about 15% battery life. Yes its plugged in otherwise it wont work The back got fairly warm after the first 5 mins.
Part of the problem with battery drain when using MHL is the inability to turn the GS2 screen off which is a pain. I was watching a movie on the TV and it was distracting to have the screen mirroring the TV.
If you want a netbook type thing then just get an original Galaxy Tab and a BT keyboard case like this one
This is what I use with my Tab and it works fine.
You could buy a Motorola Atrix ;-))
Is it possible?
I have a One X with a cracked digitizer(and other issues) that is not worth to repair. It works fine aside from the cracked glass and the inability to connect to a network and I figured I'd hook it up to my lapdock since wifi works fine. But as far as I'm aware it is not possible to use HDMI with USB OTG at the same time. Is there a workaround?
Its not a big issue if its not possible. I'll probably end up running a RasPi on it, but it would be fun to have some extra juice. The SC 700mhz cpu in the RasPi is a bit well, rubbish.
Bottom line the lapdock is basically a battery powered keyboard and mouse vis microUSB, and an 11 inch screen via microHDMI.
My bad, can someone move this to the "normal" One X forums? This is a EU device.
As a PC tech, I find myself often wishing for a device that would let me hook up the output of a computer to my tablet and use the tablet as a monitor. Many times I am dealing with servers that do not have a dedicated monitor or computers where I need to test the video output to a different device. I am looking for something that would have VGA, DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, or any combination of the previously mentioned interfaces that would plug into the Micro USB port of my tablet (Nexus 9) and display the image. Does such a device exist? I know there are cheap monitors available on sites like DX, but I was just thinking a small USB dongle type solution would be so useful.
If not, who wants to get a Kickstarter going?
