[Q] How to change phone number between epics...

Hi guys,
Searched this forum, and googled for an hour, maybe I suck at search strings...
My Epic 4G (cleanGB, flashed to cricket) took a hard fall, screen went black. My gf has an epic (cleanGB/flashed cricket) she wasn't using, so I swapped SD cards and updated the rom to Avatar (4.2.2 MTD)
I need to change the number on her phone to my number (fast & cheap). Can I do this in QPST or CDMA workshop?
Can someone point me in the right direction? Hoping for experienced advice, but I'll take suggestions, rumors, hearsay and tales of mythic proportion as well. >_<

I know nothing about alternate carrier flashing, but those would be the tools to use for doing any changes in that area. Good luck with your swap.
You should probably go back to a tw rom then call cricket and tell them to switch the lines. They will ask for her imei i believe and they will activate the phone with your old number. Another method you could use is take apart both phones and switch the motherboards. You will have access to all your old stuff and your number without calling cricket. Make sure to switch the stickers too.

Switch motherboards lol. But yeah if there are proper tools then it'd be best.

Or screens...
I guess it might be easier to switch the screens , huh? I'm afraid of internal damage, so I wanted to ditch mine for parts and use hers. I would switch it with cricket, but I'll be leaving them in a week or 2, hoped to avoid the nightmare of their customer service. Haven't played with CDMA workshop or QPST in 3 years...might give it a go, lol
You don't need to switch screens. Right when you unscrew the back off you will see the mother board. Just disconnect the wires and clips and take out the motherboard and switch them out them reassemble and your done. It is very simple. I did it in 5 minutes like 10 times before

I'm going to 2nd what phonehunter said, and restate the instructions.
1. Start by watching the first 2.5 minutes of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6npRaFm0d4 The video is only to give you an idea what your looking at because the amount of disassembly in the whole video is overkill.
On both units:
2. Remove back cover, battery, & SD card.
3. Remove the seven screws(#000 phillips) found on the black back housing , then gently pry around the edges to unclip it (bottom to top seems to work best & the buttons are going to fall out).
4. Unhook the antenna cable (only the motherboard side) and both flex cables attached to the motherboard.
Last step:
5. Since the motherboard is now free, simply put your original one in the fresh unit and reverse the above process.
BTW...You should definitely save what's left of your old phone because it has a few good parts on it. Ex: audio jack & loud speaker/antenna/vibrator ass'y

And make sure to switch the stickers. With the motherboard are all the numbers like esn and imei

Thanks guys, swapping MBs was easier than trying all that sdk stuff....after fiddling with a loose antennae for 30 min, I have it reassembled and working normal.
HINT FOR OTHERS TAKING EPIC APART:
1. Be careful prying back off around the bottom right corner , the antennae cable lives there and once it's loose, it takes many tries with tweezers to reattach.
2. the camera button can stay attached to the inner back casing if you remove it carefully, this results in less time getting it back in place and a tighter fit once finished.
3. each plastic slot along the rim of the inner back casing is a pry-point. instead of prying up away from phone, use a guitar pic or pryer to slip in between silver ring and casing, then turn tool perpendicular to phone, prying the lip of casing out towards the edge rather than "up" away from phone. (less chance of loose fit/damaged clips after.)
4. When reassembling, press these pry-points back in place by pressing inwards towards phone, from outer silver ring towards the battery, not down towards screen.

Replacing screen plus digitizer

Hello guys I have a tmobile s4 that the screen is scratched and it has a small hairline cracked on top. I was wondering if I can take the screen from my Verizon s4 (which I don't need anymore) and put that screen on my tmobile s4 and put the screen from the tmobile s4 to the Verizon s4. Basically can I swap screens with the whole digitizer and all ?
I've replaced my screen / digitizer and there is nothing specific between the two carriers regarding the screen / digitizer. So I would assume that it can be done. The screen / digitizer combo connects to the motherboard via. a ribbon cable which is easily removed. The harder part of the operation is going to be removing the working screen / digitizer from the housing. You may want to consider swapping the motherboards between the two. Either way good luck on the repair.

So what your saying is that I can keep the screen and the frame on my Verizon s4 and just move the motherboard from my tmobile one to it ? That's all I have to do ?

Yep. The hardware should all be the same (i.e. cameras {front/back}, prox sensor / earphone assembly, USB / home button / menu / back button assembly, etc.). Just be sure to gently lift all your connectors to the motherboard and swap them.

Didn't work the Verizon s4 and the tmo s4 don't match up. Ended up ruining the whole charge port flex. Maybe next time I'm gonna have to ask in multiple forums
There should be no differences between the charging ports on either phone. Sorry you had an issue.

The digitizer were you attach the charging flex were different sizes open one yourself and you will see they don't match up I even tried to attach it as is and it turned on but the cord was hanging there because it's not the same size and I could only got 4G and not lte so now I'm just waiting for the replacement part to come so I can fix it

What's the deal with my 'new' Note 3?

Hi guys,
Looking for advice. Went into a store directly that was advertising a new Galaxy Note 3 SM-900W8. The IMEI numbers match on the sticker and on the phone. But the serial numbers do not. However, I've run two apps: Genuine Galaxy and Phone Info. They both say it's a real Note but I've noticed the screen has the faint markings of Chinese apps. It's most obvious when the screen is white. Also, on Phone Info it shows that it's been charged almost 4,500 times. My question is bar the Chinese apps being annoying when I'm in a lowlight environment on a light screen, the phone seems to be genuine but refurbished. Should I risk keeping the phone or would I be better off returning it as it was not sold as advertised.

Wtf moisture indicators tripped

My phone has never been wet. When i take a shower i ALWAYS cover it with a towel. Always in my otter box deffender which also increases water resistancy. If im at work and it rains i leave the shop. Never been in any type of water. But my moisture indicator is pink.
I bet lg put some on that over time they just turn pink. I wouldnt put it past them.
Any one else in this boat.

Buying original Note 7 (first batch)

Hi xda peeps,
I just like to ask if it’s worth it buying a Note 7 that was part of the batch with battey issues? They’re selling it for roughly $175. The issue seller has indicated is that the serial number randomly shows on both sides of the screen (see attachment).
And if ever I purchase this unit, what step can I take (rooting or downgrading) to remove the limits Samsung implemented on their updates? (I’m assuming the unit was updated so the serial number started popping up, and maybe has a white battery)
I just blurred out the serial numbers for privacy.
Thanks
Pretty sure that's a prototype though, if numbers appear on the screen
For that price, is it worth it? And would there be any workarounds to get rid of the occassional serial numbers popping up? I appreciate your reply.
